Husband had steak and ale pie came with mash or chips. He decided on chips. The pie he said was nice but for5p off £15 it was very poor value. All you had was pie with about 6 chips no veg. Never again. I had the panini which was dear enough at £9 but had a nice little salad and crisps.

Excellent staff who are very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant food is presented well, and I have found everything I ordered has been well presented and delicious. As a lady on my own I feel safe and it is very enjoyable. You very much have the 'family' feeling from the staff. I highly recommend visiting as Mere Park is addictive because of the polite and friendly approach by all of the staff, which in this day and age is rare.

A Caesar’s salad, as I recall having it several times in various eateries, consists of moist pieces of chicken mixed with pieces of crispy bacon, torn pieces of Cos lettuce, anchovies (if you choose) tossed in a tasty Caesar’s dressing mixed with Parmesan cheese and crispy croutons. This one was a ‘deconstructed’ version. A lump of chicken with a rasher of anaemic looking bacon, two whole leaves of Cos lettuce standing upright out of the bowl, (no anchovies as requested) 2 halves of hardboiled egg on the side, an odd tasting dressing and no Parmesan. The croutons were OK. Disappointing and overpriced. I usually like this restaurant as it’s spacious, light and airy, but the food can be a bit hit and miss. Depends who’s cooking. So come on Mere Park - there are a lot of negative reviews here. Time for a rethink or a retrain of your chefs.

We visited as the restaurant had been recommended to us. Wish we hadn't! The salad bar looked great but the salad was stale, lettuce and spring onions brown and beetroot dry. The Bombay Aloo Scotch Egg again sounded lovely but tasted like vinegar. My husband's panini had too much cranberry and not enough bacon but was better. Sorry but won't be rushing back.

Staying at the premier inn next door and spent a lovely couple of hours wandering around here. I was able to use a wheelchair for my elderly mother in law , so she was able to enjoy the whole place. There are clothes, for all tastes, reasonably priced. A food hall and gift section. We found the restaurant to be excellant. The staff could not be more helpful. It was clean and spacious. I had a lovely gf scone with jam and cream which was served warm. My mother in law recommends the cherry and almond scone. The tea came in a tea pot too. Lovely china The plants in the garden centre are beautiful and I wish I had room in my car to take them home

Recently a relatively large number of tables have been earmarked for customers with dogs. This morning I counted 10 dogs whilst meeting a friend in the restaurant for a coffee. They were noisy. Personally I am extremely unhappy with dogs - other than service dogs - being allowed in food areas. I have witnessed dogs being fed from the tables by their owners which encourages them to put their paws up on the table and snuffle/lick the tables. The lower tables of course encourage dogs to sniff at and lick crumbs off the tables. This is all absolutely fine in people's own homes but in a shared space where food is sold I think it is unacceptable and inconsiderate. If waiting staff are then expected to give these tables a really thourough clean between each customer it will also cost more time and therefore money. It is all very unhygienic and to be honest I think that my days of meeting friends here are now numbered for this reason. A pity because the ambience of the cafe is lovely, and today the coffee was actually HOT too (it isn't always).

Scones were not cooked in the centre, cakes returned for being dry and inedible, staff brusque and not very happy. I paid 3.25 for a regular cappuccino, the barista gave me a decaffeinated one as the next customer had asked for one and because the coffee bag did two coffees I had to have the other. This was not what I paid for. Very disappointed.

We were staying at the adjoining Premier Inn and popped in for lunch on arrival. The restaurant- when we finally navigated the maze from entrance to exit - looks very stylish, a great place to eat. The menu was extensive and we were pleased to see that hot food was served until 3 or 4pm (we arrived around 2.15). We found a table and chose our meals. After a lengthy wait in a long queue, we finally arrived at the till point and gave our order. Only then were we informed that they were not serving hot food!!! Why on earth was there no notice to that effect at the entrance? Why were the full menus still on every table? We ended up with a sandwich, only to then see other tables having chips! Having not learned our lesson, the following morning we declined the Premier Inn breakfast and opted to breakfast at Mere Park, mainly because I wanted something more interesting then the standard PI offering. I chose haloumi with avocado, mushroom, tomato, hash brown, egg, baked beans and toast. Husband chose the light cooked breakfast of egg, bacon, sausage, mushroom, tomato, hash brown, baked beans and toast. 20 minutes later, they arrived. I had no baked beans but a large helping of watercress. The haloumi and hash brown were fine, the egg was swimming in some kind of weird tasting oil. Everything was stone cold. Husband's breakfast came without the hash brown and was also stone cold. This was not a surprise because we could see the servery. First of all, plates were set out. Then the person disappeared, reappeared a few minutes later and placed one item on the plate. She then disappeared again for a few minutes and placed another item on each plate. This was repeated until apparently the plates contained the required ingredients, at which point she pinged a bell. A member of the serving staff on the other side of the restaurant sauntered over to the servery, "checked" the order and brought the food to the table. Obviously stone cold. Never again will we order a meal here. The only plus side is that the tea and coffee were excellent and the serving staff were very friendly. I thought Blue Diamond at Percy Thrower's in Shrewsbury was bad but this one absolutely takes the prize!

We decided to have a spot of lunch here whilst shopping but really hadnt expected the high prices. The staff were fine and service pretty quick but food a disappointment. The descriptions on the menu sound great and we expected something a little better. I chose the three cheese rarebit on a cheese scone with mushrooms and topped with poached egg. There was hardly any cheese, the scone dominated the food and all in all it was quite bland, and this was over £11 .. My hubby choose the toasted ham and cheese panini. (over £8) It was bland, the cheese and ham not toasted at all and the panini was also bland. Sorry Mere Park, but we are not going to pay those prices again .

Booked a table for lunch to meet three other friends whom I don’t see very often due to distance We ordered our lunches together emphasising we were a group of 4 . However, despite this only three meals came out and one completely forgotten . Eventually got the attention of a waitress and told her we were a meal short she wasn’t overly friendly and requested the receipt to prove we had ordered the fourth meal ! We had to wait then for it to be cooked - three of us needed to eat our food as it was getting cold and consequently the fourth member if our party ate hers alone when it finally came as we had finished ! Not acceptable and spoilt the occasion . The meals are not cheap but the choice is good but sadly very let down in this occasion

Came in around 9am last week for a breakfast with the wife. We have eaten breakfast here before and enjoyed it so thought we would come again. Sorry to say but neither of us enjoyed it. We both had the full breakfast at £10.95 with a small bottle of fresh orange juice for £3.95 - prices have gone up considerably We thought. The sausages were awful. They looked like proper butchers sausages, but were completely inedible and the best way I can describe this is imagine trying to eat sausages through a condom. The skin was thick, chewy and inedible. I don't think that was a cooking problem, more of a product problem. The black pudding was probably the best I've ever eaten! Absolutely delicious. The bacon tasted like it was cooked in advance and then warmed. I asked for sauce and saw the lady take a big bottle of cheapo brown sauce and pour into a little pot. If your going to offer a quality breakfast at a higher value at least have the decency to provide quality sauce like HP and Heinze to match. Sorry for the sausage description, i can't describe it any other way. We'll give it another try at some point as we know it's usually much better, but please change the sausages!

Mere Park garden Centre restaurant is clean. The food is good and I can’t fault that. I went with my friend as we do every week for lunch. We had a big shock this week when we went to order our usual Salmon or quiche with two salads. The price usually includes two salads. Anyway this week they had changed the menus without notice and was asked to purchase the salads separately at £3 for each salad. Which would have made our bill for the both of us £12 more than it had been. This is unacceptable. How can they justify putting up the price by that much???. We decided on something else and couldn’t afford to have cake like we normally do. We are very disappointed and will no longer be able to go there weekly as we had been doing for some months now as the food we enjoyed for lunch is no longer affordable. How can they justify selling a piece of cold poached salmon or quiche for Just under £10 without the sides? We are very disappointed with you Mere Park.

I ordered the Zucchini Pasta with Salmon which was presented very good but had no pasta with in. All I got was 3 small tomatoes cut in halves, some sliced courgettes and some pea shoots. It cost £14.50!! I know that Zucchini is a vegetable but why does the menu state pasta? When I asked the waitress she said I wasn’t the first to ask and that the menu is misleading. I emailed the manager of the restaurant who said the waitress should have told me there was no pasta in it!! I find this very dismissive and with the attitude that we really couldn’t have cared less. Just reprint the menu and stop misleading customers. Would not go back If I have to ask for a breakdown of what is in every dish before ordering. Not very professional.

This is now a lovely place since the revamp by Blue Diamond but why, oh why have they made it so that you have no option than to trek round the whole centre even if you only want to buy a birthday card? I don't want to have to walk through the indoor plants, the candles and smellies, the clothing and the gardening sections before getting to the kitchen equipment, the cards or the restaurant and from the comments I've heard, neither do many other visitors. As for the book section tucked away in a corner, you would not know it was there unless you were looking for it. Trolleys are near the entrance so if you set off on your trek without one and get to the food section, you have to go all the way back to the entrance to get one if you are tempted to buy more than you can carry. The restaurant is really great now (most of the pics on TripAdvisor are of the old restaurant which bears no resemblance to the new look). It's now stylish and classy and we have found the food to be really good, especially the fish and chips, while the deli side looks very appetising. However, it isn't cheap - £4.50 or more for a small cake seems a bit OTT. No good going here for a quick lunch if you are in a hurry as the ordering system could do with a bit of a rethink. The queue to order food gets very long at busy times and moves very slowly as there is only one person taking orders and one person doing drinks. The system at Blue Diamond's Percy Thrower's Garden Centre seems to work better but even that is not very quick. If he weather is fine there are some very nice outdoor shed style eating areas that seat four under cover. . The outdoor plant section is beautifully laid out and a pleasure to walk round. A lot of thought has gone into the revamp at The Mere Park Garden Centre and it is a definite improvement on the old place.

Very disappointed yet again. Second visit in a week and the chaos in the restaurant is dreadful. The queues at the tills are so long, plenty of staff wandering about but one lady determined to get as many people to place their orders through the tills as quickly as possible while another lady is frantically trying to fulfil those orders, instead of the lady on the till helping out by at least making pots of tea. The queues were horrendous. At my previous visit I ordered toast and marmalade for £3.40 and what I got was two slices of what appeared to be the old fashioned ‘milk’ bread. So thin it was nothing to eat. I normally got two slices of bloomer bread but these two slices were half the thickness and half the size. You can go to Dobbies for real toast and marmalade for £2.70 so Blue Diamond need to get themselves sorted.

Booked an afternoon tea treat with family. You have to pay full price up-front, which I’ve never had to do elsewhere. A deposit yes, but not total cost. First gripe is that I had requested a larger table as not everyone wanted afternoon tea, but my request had been ignored, so the table was too small. Then despite it stating on their website that tea and coffee is replenished on request, THAT IS ONLY FOR TEA apparently. I am not a tea drinker, so only one regular coffee for me. Then my daughter just wanted a scone, jam & cream without a hot drink, but still had to pay full price of a cream tea without the hot drink. The actual sandwiches and cakes were good, but I have never had an afternoon tea ANYWHERE else that only allows one cup of coffee. Very disappointing and most definitely will not bother returning here again.

Regularly pop in and have something, always tasty and fast. Had chicken in white wine sauce and was really lovely. With plenty of chicken, big fat chips and nice veg, sauce was absolutely delicious, was advised of a wait but honestly was nothing to complain...

I have just moved into the area, (l have worked at a farm shop for 12 years and like to support them) and was having a ride around when I came upon this garden centre. I was going to go to the 3 fish beefeater next door but pulled into the garden centre car park 'just to have a look'. Nowhere could i see a coffee shop/restaurant sign but asked a couple of nice ladies going into the garden centre if refreshments were available here. They said they were and recommended it to me. So i parked and took my father-in-law in for some lunch. Everything looked lovely and we both opted for the 'special' fish chips & mushy peas and coffee. We were given a number and found a table by a window (we did get attacked by the plants !! ) Our drinks were brought to us and not long after our food. I fetched our cutlery and condiments. The food was lovely, well presented, hot & plenty of it!Only negative was the signage. My daughter has lived near for years and didn't know there was a resturant here. Im sure you would get a lot more trade if it was advertised outside! We will visit again. Thank you x

Friday 24th January 20, my husband and I were in need of refreshments so we drove into Newport where we went to ‘Mere Park Garden Centre’. The garden centre had a really nice restaurant. We had a late lunch here my husband had a bowl of leek and potato soup and a bread roll with a pot of tea. I had a bacon and brie Panini served with salad and a nice hot chocolate. We spent a nice hour relaxing and enjoying our food.We then looked round the garden centre, they had some very nice gifts, ornaments, kitchen ware and they even had a ‘Works’ concession within the centre. I mooched round here and I purchased 20 Birthday cards for the bargain price of one pound and my husband purchased a book about the moon. When we had finished we then strolled back to the car park to collect our car and continued our journey to Rossett.Sunday 26th January 20, After visiting Beeston Castle my husband and I were in need of refreshments so we drove into Newport where we went again to ‘Mere Park Garden Centre’. We had a late lunch here my husband and I both had a bacon and brie Panini served with salad and my husband had a pot of tea and I had a nice hot cup of coffee. We spent a nice hour here relaxing and enjoying our food. The bills for the food on both occasions was very reasonable. We once again looked round the garden centre, they had some very nice clothes, garden furniture, and again we visited the ‘Works’ concession within the centre. I mooched round here again and I purchased another pack of 20 Birthday cards for the bargain price of one pound. When we had finished we then strolled back to the car park to collect our car and continue our journey back to Birmingham.

Sadly this has falling standards of late. They really need to up their game because it has a loyal clientele. The cutlery is not clean at all, I had to sift through to find anything clean enough to use. There is a general air of lack of cleaning, the seats are grubby, the table mats are awful, the tables need cleaning after every customer not when they feel like it . Tired and in need of updating. The staff really need to be on the ball, this is not the cheapest food and it could be so much better. Stale cake as well. We brought our grandchildren for a half term treat, sadly it wasn't.

Last minute decision to go for lunch with my wife. Arrived to find a busy restaurant, we choice our meals and drinks. Ordered at the counter and given a number. We were expecting a bit of a wait, due to the number of people before us in the que.But about 5 minutes later our meals were served. Everything was freshly cooked, and piping hot, and very good portions. We will certainly go again, also the staff were pleasant and efficient.A varied menue something to please most people. It's well worth a visit, if you have time have a wander around the garden centre as well, quite a choice of other things besides flowers and plants.

The restaurant is beautifully clean. An excellent choice of food to choose from the menu. All freshly prepared on the premises and very tasty. A mouth watering selection of cakes and desserts are also there for consumption, if you have room to spare after the delicious main course. It is also attached to a lovely garden centre and gift shop for browsing after you are replete. Brilliant find and definitely will be back.

Called in for lunch having eaten here before. Both had broccoli bake, which was basically broccoli with pasta, some of the pasta was not cooked, in a white sauce and cheese on the top served in a dish. Served with small potatoes which had been over re-heated in a microwave having very wrinkly skins and dry, two colours and sizes of peas and a wet salad. Not worth £8.99 shall not be eating here again.

I was staying in the Premier inn next to the Garden Centre on a business trip and decided to pop into this pleasant looking garden centre for an afternoon tea and scone. I wish I hadn't though. as a lover to a decent strong cuppa I wasn't expecting to get a pot of the proverbial "gnats #!$$ " . It tasted cheap and nasty. The scone, I gave up eating as it fell apart into crumbs as I cat it in half and attempted to eat it with my teaspoon before giving up. Next time I stay at he premier inn I will definitely give the café a wide birth.

Really bad experience! We had a table booked for a birthday party, upon arrival we were told that they had no room for us even though the booking was on the system - absolutely appalling! The manager did nothing to help and told us if we waited for 30 mins a table would be available but we would just get scraps of what was left of the carvery. So so disappointing- would not recommend this place, if you have a booking there I wouldn’t count on actually getting seated.

Googled for a local restaurant whilst we were in Telford and this came up. Had good reviews so we tried it yesterday. Great value and lovely food. We had the chicken curry and sausage & mash. Both meals were served hot and they were very filling with very good portions. Two lads were working - both polite and professional. Highly recommended 👏🏻

We go to this venue every Thursday for drinks and always leave before 7pm. The quiz starts at 7pm, so all the tables in the bar are reserved, this is not normally a problem as we have normally left before people start arriving for quiz. This evening however, we were barred from using the bar area and made to sit in the dining area!! We felt uncomfortable in this area as all we wanted was a drink, but everyone around us was eating.
