Visited two week ago and we simply could not hear ourselves speak. At first we presumed other customers were making this racket (we had our backs to the room) but later realised it was the staff! Three of them all making such a noise talking to each other, it spoilt our lunch and we had to shout at each other to be heard.

This is a very relaxing cafe. The outlook over the Mere is probably one of the best in the town. Coffee and cakes are delicious and there is plenty of space between the tables. We were not rushed.

There was a good choice of dishes including specials. It was a cold day so I had a hot drink but my friends chose cold fruit drinks which they recommended. Service was quick and friendly.

we had eaten here last year & it was good. think the owners have changed as the service & food was average, nothing special. still had to go up the winding stairs to the toilet which could have been cleaner. rather disappointing.

Went into mere moments earlier today, about 35 minutes before the stated closing time for a quick coffee and a bite of cake. Went in an sat down only to be told we only had 15 minutes to eat and leave and would this be long enough. So we got up to leave and informed the waitress/owner that her website says she's open till 4pm just so she was aware and to stop any further confusion. We got a very rude, arrogant and snappy response, therefore I shall not be returning, manners cost nothing (and costa shall be getting a lot more business).

my husband ordered cauliflower cheese - what part of cauliflower cheese is 'grey'?? it was awful. virtually no cauliflower, and the 'cheese' sauce was grey and tasted horrid. when the proprietor was told, no apology was given and her only concern was that we wouldn't pay for it. We did but we wont be back! Avoid this place.

We had gone for a good coffee and cake in one of the local coffee shops rather than the larger groups. The coffee was ok and so was the cakes if a little over done. Unfortunately the service wasn't great they gave us coffee creamer not fresh milk or cream. But the disappointing part was the state of the upstairs where the toilet are, not very nice to visit at all.

We had lunch at Mere Moments. There is a good selection of dishes on the menu. We opted for toastie & prawn baguette. Both were delicious & filling. I was most impressed with their collection of cakes. I am lactose intolerant so can rarely find cakes which I can eat. This cafe had cakes which were suitable for vegans, diabetics, slimmers & gluten free. In fact they had 2 choices for each of these diets. I don't know why more cafes don't do this as we all like to enjoy a nice cake!

Such a wonderful cafe. We came here on our holiday for lunch. The ladies were very friendly and allowed us to take our puppy to the outside seating area in the back.

We popped in here on my lunch hour - service was very quick and the food was brilliant. There is a large selection of sandwiches in various forms and they made it to order. The prices were on par with what I would pay for homemade sandwiches. I had some takeaway coffee cake (also amazing!) as we were strapped for time for me to get back to work. We will definitely use again!!

We popped in for a light lunch during my daughter's lunch hour. Warm friendly staff. A large menu of sandwiches, toasties, paninis, salads, jacket potatoes, homemade soups (5 kinds) and sausage rolls , all made to order and staff are willing to adapt the options. Sandwiches of all styles come with Kettle crisps or salad, jacket potatoes with salad. We had coffee and a milkshake (which was quite large). They also had a variety of homemade scones (cheese and fruit), cakes, millionaire's shortbread etc to which looked delicious. A variety of breakfast dishes were available until 11am.The wait for our food was minimal. Staff were friendly and attentive. We will return another time and sample more of the menu.

Came here in our lunch hour, ended up having to have it to take away as service was so slow, even though they weren't busy. Jacket potatoes were the worst I have ever had. Really hard & tasted awful as was the salad & filling. Was starving as has nothing else to eat. Toilets are unbelievably awful, don't have disabled access as up a spiral staircase & through a flat that I wouldn't let my worst enemy stay in.Definitely won't be visiting again.

Went with my husband to Diss to find somewhere for breakfast. We chose Mere Moments - it wasn't too busy and having ordered 2 large cooked breakfasts we soon received the pot of tea for two. A few more people arrived and after 20mins my husband asked how much longer the breakfast would be. Blank look & then asked what was the order. We said forget it & would not take payment for the tea. Which was a small plus point in their favour. We left and found another cafe where we got a full english - that included sausages for lower price & cooked in under 15 mins. Will not use Mere Moments again & not sure hoe they won a retail award. Very poor service.

I love this little café, certainly better than the mainstream expensive Costa or Starbucks. The hot chocolate is amazing, I go there just for that, I've had many hot chocolates that are meant to be amazing from Italy and Switzerland and the ones served here are nicer. Yummy home made cake, polite staff, nothing to serious but after all its a little café not a 5* fine dining restaurant!

We like to support local independents so called in for a light bite lunch. We were the only customers and after a while ordered drinks and food. The drinks came fairly quickly but then waited ages for the food. This was served by the lady from the kitchen still wearing blue gloves !!!!!!! Excuse for the delay was that the order hadn't gone to the kitchen !!!!!! How that could be possible when only two ladies were working there is a mystery !!!!!! The food was ok but certainly nothing special. Whilst we ate our meal we were then subjected to quite a loud discussion between the staff and we think other family members who had arrived. Very unprofessional !!!!! If that was award winning there could not have been much competition. !!!!!!!!Get your act together smarten the place up and be professional.

No it's not a spelling mistake! This came about because a customer couldn't decide between a cheese or fruit scone so the owner came up with a "swavoury" scone, one half is cheese and the other is fruit - very filling it is too! This cafe is in the middle of Mere Street and although not very big inside there is also an outside seating area overlooking the delightful mere and some seats on the street too. They also sell sandwiches and soups as well as other items. Another individual cafe along with a few others in the town which all serve customers different needs and tastes!

I have visited here about 4 times in the last couple of months. You are always greeted with a smile upon entering, and also when you order is taken. The menu is what you would assume for a lunchtime... sandwiches, jacket spuds, all day breakfast, soups, and a 'specials' board. They also serve homemade cakes... of which, I have found the Victoria Sponge to be one of the tastiest I have ever eaten. If you visit Diss town centre, and want a relaxed, tasty and nicely served lunch, I would suggest you give this place a try... you wont be disappointed.

We think that "Jessica W" must have been lost and eating at another establishment as the last thing you could call this delightful restaurant/cafe is a greasy spoon. We enjoy a snack here most weeks and the standard of the food and drinks are always of the top quality - in fact their coffee and hot chocolate is amongst the best we have experienced. The staff are courteous, helpful and cheerful and Helen keeps a friendly supervisory eye on all proceedings. The Mere Moments is nearly always busy and certainly wouldn't be if it was anything like a Greasy Spoon. Give it a visit and we are sure you will be pleasantly rewarded. Well recommended and we look forward to our next visit.

I have visited this cafe as always serves good coffee, upon trying one of the scones on display which look appealing was extremely disappointed by the first taste and the fact it was not cooked properly , I have tried several times as thought might be a one off , but unfortunately it's not the case it does however depend on who seems to be in the kitchen , am of the opinion that maybe the wrong person is in there too often!
