Memories of India - Farnham Common in South Bucks

I came here with some friends for my birthday meal. Upon walking into the restaurant, it was cold and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. The service is beyond terrible, extremely slow and very poor. The waiters were unable to communicate properly and this posed as an additional problem. The food was average and with very expensive prices the quantity and quality both were very poor. The portion sizes and the way the food looked was also disgusting. I didn't want to ruin my evening, otherwise I would have left as soon as I sat down.

I decided to treat my wife to a meal out when I disappeared to work at short notice. She wanted to go memories of India in Farnham common. The popadoms were nice. We both had lamb pasanada and rice. We both had a pint of lime and soda. Everything was fine until we got the bill 51 pounds. We were charged nearly 10 pounds for two pints or lime and soda!

Another lovely meal. Early evening so a little quiet which suited our group. Great foood freshly prepared. Good service. Outside area including the front and side of the building has been smartened up. A great local restaurant worth a visit.

Had an exceptional takeaway from Memories tonight,Thankyou Guys the food was delicious.We had a chicken tikka massala which was plenty of perfectly cooked chicken ,a chicken jalfrezi with a lovely fresh chillies on the top ,rice was cooked to perfection ,saag aloo was lovely and the paratha was lovely and thin layers nice and crispy.The food had a lovely flavour good size portions,Thankyou to the person who delivered our food nice and hot.Compliments to the chef .See you soon be back for some more ………good value for money this standard of food.

I went here for supper with my wife and an old friend. We all had different starters to normal I had vegetable chat. I was very tasty and well worth trying. My main course was lamb passanda and special rice. It was very filling and could not eat it all. The meal was expensive for what it was and one thing I found unusual was the room was a little cold.

The food here is always good and well served. The place is often quiet but that makes for easy conversations. The staff are well trained and very helpful. Dishes can be adapted to taste if a person does not want really hot sauce. Worth a visit.

This is possibly the best takeaway we’ve had for a very long time thanks guys for some wonderful food…definitely recommend this restaurant for takeaway or sit down meal…they deliver as well. 👍

We went on a quiet Sunday night - we eat Indian food a lot, and this is very good indeed. The peshwari naan is one of the best I’ve ever had: but the daal, saag, chana massala and afghani lamb equally good. Service very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

We arrived yesterday and it was very quiet with only ourselves and another couple. Was a lovely atmosphere and the waiters were fantastic. Up until the point we found a hair in the mango chutney.. we did not say anything at the time however i took a photo for evidence. We carried on with our meals, ordering a start and a main each. During our main course. the waiters decided to sit a couple next to us who were very loud, playing videos at full blast and swearing constantly in conversations about inappropriate things. Bearing in mind, the whole restaurant was practically empty therefore could’ve sat them anywhere, especially knowing as he knows the waiters therefore they would’ve known he was a loud person. We decided to leave mid meal as me and my partner no longer wanted to sit near them. The waiter did ask if we wanted to move however even from the other side of the restaurant you could hear them. Overall a 50/50 experience, would recommend if you live close by however i would not travel to come here.

Spacious well decorated restaurant. Good choice of food in standard north Indian repertoire with some unusual/ house specialities. Friendly staff. Food itself good quality. Well presented esp vegetables.

Farnham Common will be a poorer place without this one. It is deceptively understated from outside, but table linens and exceptional service make it special, that's before we come to food. The curries taste much fresher and spice is just right, none of the excessive heat or salt. This is a reliable restaurant and I will be certainly visiting again.

This place is simply fabulous and a great place for celebration or date night. The service is exceptional and we literally felt at home. Our sommelier made choosing our wine for the evening and the experience was best in a way.

My family and I went today to celebrate a belated Fathers Day, honestly speaking, being Indian ourselves it’s very hard to find a restaurant that is as authentic as our taste, after ordering from Uber eats their menu here I was desperate to try to taste it in house - can I just say WOW the food was out of this world. The service was impeccable, and the best touch was when the owner came out to say hello, and all we could offer was a bag full of compliments. Thank you for our drink on the house offered to us at payment… just all the existing and extra touches made my Dad so happy and my my husband even happier. The new chefs here deserve an award and the place itself is just beautiful. Thank you from all of us at the Chopra family :)))

Have waited over two hours for a simple order of two curries plus sides. Have called the restaurant numerous times for updates to be given excuses and no real reason other than they are busy. Every time I'm assured it's out for delivery - which if it's been out for 40 minutes it'll be cold when it gets here!! No call back as promised. Customer service awful. Hopefully Uber eats will give me a refund.

We waited 2 hours for food and they kept saying it will be 5 minutes. We were a big table (9) but the food we ordered was minimal and all vegetarian. It was busy but I don't think that's an excuse for extremely poor service. They were happy to serve smaller tables who arrived later than us! We ultimately paid for our drinks and left without any food and no apology. Would never eat here again and I wouldn't waste your time.

We ordered a takeaway via Uber and waited almost two hours for the delivery. We were told that a person had "accidentally" clicked the button to say that it was out for delivery (not convinced but...). We asked for a refund on at least the delivery due to the time delay, but I'm still waiting for the manager to call us back. The food was average - nothing more so we definitely won't be returning. If you're happy to wait for a long time then I'm sure it will be fine but....

Rang nearly two hours in advance as we needed a specific delivery time and were promised they could deliver at that time as we were going out. Food arrived 40 minutes late and was stone cold. Chewy naan, bland saag aloo!! Complete waste of money!

Had a great takeaway full of flavour - worthy of a 5 star review. Friendly staff as always. Keep it up.

Undoubtably the food and service here are great. BUT the rear if the restaurant is a disgrace with broken fencing and horrible bin are. The side area also has hanging wires. As a regular I love this place but the outside appearance does not reflect what happens inside. In these competitive days the owners need to smarten up their act. Repair the broken and unsafe fence and hide the bin area. What a shame! This village encourages and receives local support but Memories need to play their part too.

Very nice and clean from the door right to to the table, especially with the current covid situation. A very nice and cosy setting/vibe to the restaurant. The staff and the manager Sam were all nice and friendly, they really make sure to go out of their way so that you are well looked after. The food was really really tasty! I highly recommend the Sam special with the lamb biryani, the bar is also nice for some drinks. Would definitely visit more than once with family and friends! :)

We ate out on August bank holiday Monday as a family on the eat out to help out offer. Tables & customers well spaced. Food prepared as requested & tasty. Price very good with the offer & service attentive.

A friend and I went for dinner using the £10 government Eat Out scheme. Meal quality was good and I've eaten here several times before or had takeaways. Yesterday the price really surprised and embarrassed me. My friend and I had a curry in west London using the same scheme 2 weeks earlier and that came to £11.50 each. However last nights single course meal removing the 10% service change and my £6.50 per pint Cobra lagers meant the subsidised meal was £24 each. Far too expensive. They have clearly increased the prices.

Recently I moved closer to my absolute favourite Indian takeaway ‘Memories of India’ not close enough for delivery for we made the trek to get the best Indian - I ordered my usual king prawn vindaloo and I was disgusted with the box of dish wash water I was given in its place with floating pieces of miscellaneous cartilage of some kind claiming to be a prawn. Never in my 30 years have I put something so disgusting in my mouth. I also order Bombay potatoes with no onions which came in the form of par boiled potatoes smothered in onions and no flavour. It was so bad my dinner consisted of the plain pilau rice and poppadoms. Absolute disappointment. My partner called to complain and they begrudgingly agreed for a free curry and potatoes if I was to ever give them another chance at providing me something edible. A few months passed and I was ready to put the experience behind me and try again. This time I was skeptical yet tried to be optimistic that maybe they were having an ‘off day’. Well the curry was substandard and potatoes were nothing to write home about yet edible. This time I asked for the small prawns as I was terrified I’d be given the alien formed rubbery life form in my curry like last time. I plated my food all up and after 2 mouth fulls I found a curly black hair tucked up nicely within my curry and rice. I am a blonde with an imagination where this hair had come from. So yet again no dinner. I’m absolutely appalled that their food and hygiene standards have completely gone down the drain... the drain no doubt my curry was from. Never ever will I eat from there and will discourage anyone who wants a nice meal to eat from there....unless you want a booby prize curry.

Have used their takeaway service twice now. Delicious food and we could really taste the different flavours coming through. Even better is the extremely generous £15 pounds off for NHS workers.

My husband and I have enjoyed very much our meal from Memories of India, the food is great, service is outstanding and absolutely value for money, you get a good amount of food for the £15 free and then we pay a little extra on top if we want a bit extra and pretty much get enough for 2 nights dinner. Thanks Memories of India, you guys are great and we appreciate very much your support of the NHS.

Memories of India offer up to £15 worth of free food for all NHS staff which is just incredible! Myself and my colleague took advantage of this offer today and the food was really good, service was great and the amount of food we had each was more than enough! We each received one curry, one rice, two dips one poppadom and one naan bread each! Plus a few extra poppadoms and dips were thrown in for free! Thank you very much to everyone at the restaurant we really appreciate your support and will be visiting again.

Due to Coronavirus my wife and I, and my daughters boyfriend ordered a takeaway. I had poperdoms that were nice, lamb samosa and lamb biryani. My wife and my daughters boyfriend enjoyed there meals. There was enough food left for me to have supper the next day to!

We eat at this restaurant whenever we go out for an Indian meal. The service we receive is second to none, the manger ALWAYS comes to say hello and will always offer us a complimentary drink. The standard of food is fantastic and we would highly recommend you visit.. all in all a great place to eat.

The restaurant food served here is much nicer than if you get a takeaway. Always delicious food and excellent service. Lots of choice and food tastes fresh and well cooked. The king prawns are delicious!

My friend and I went here last time I was in the UK back in April 2018, and I just went back here today. It's just as good as I remember! The food, service, and atmosphere are top notch. Also, they give you bits of fennel and spices at the end of your meal. Just a bit of a bonus to an already epic experience!!

A lovely restaurant serving interesting food and good service. I am a regular BUT the deterioration in the outside appearance is of serious concern. The outdoor painting is messy and unfinished. The pot plants are dead and full of cigarettes. The bin store( shared with the flats above) is smelly and an eyesore now that the fence is broken and has not been repaired. This used to be a really smart corner on the main High Street in this village. No longer! Attention is needed if the restaurant wishes to remain as number 1 in the area.

I had a delivery last Thursday and I was very disappointed, not sure if they had a new chef but none of the dishes were anything to write home about.King Prawn Purée was bland and oily as were the Brinjal bhaji, vegetable byriani again very oily and tasteless. The lamb rogan was lovely but only a few pieces of meat!Shame really disappointed I will get my deliveries from Peppers in Burnham from now!

I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the area, and whilst I haven't been to a bad one, Memories of India is the best of the bunch.I asked for the chicken biryani done extra spicy, and they added green chillis and made it wonderful. In fact I have been to Bangalore and had worse biryanis.Friendly staff and spacious restaurant.

Took my family of adult children plus wife out here on New Year's Eve again. Two consequtive years because its local and a good experience. We were very well looked after by the manager throughout the whole evening. We didn't opt for the prime menu just regular one plus drinks. DJ played a mixture of modern Indian and English music which was great. A great evening had by all.

Always been good in the past and service very good and efficient but....I never complain because that spoils the atmosphere on a rare date night, my wife's fish curry was good, my afghani lamb special was so bad I only took a little, dry, no sauce, not sure it was lamb, personally would have added a jar of pataks to save it, please take this as constructive comment, not sure there was a chef on duty.

I visited this restaurant as a speacial treat. My with does not always like Indian food but she loved the food. Very nice place. Staff were great. The meal was reasonably priced

Had to order from here tonight as our usual was closed, what a waste of time and money! Chicken tikka starter, 5 tiny pieces, £5! Absolute joke. Curry was powdered, tiny portions, not been here for a long long time and certainly won’t be back

Lovely food, well served by caring and professional staff. Nice ambiance and suitable for families or couples. The only area of concern is the rear of the building- bins rubbish and a broken fence which needs fixing. The outside has been repainted and flowers should be added. This place is a real asset to the village but should remember that locals look behind the property too

A friend of mine uses this establishment frequently for takeaway. I went with the recommendation open minded and I have to say I was most impressed. I have not eaten at this particular restaurant for years myself, so it was good to reacquaint myself.

Use memories of India for take away and sit in. Never had a bad meal or bad service always top notch. Would recommend to everyone.

I’ve been visiting Memories of India for all sorts of different occasions, tasty food & customer service spot on. However, placed a home delivery today and found hair, a complete disaster. It wasn’t just one...as much as I hate it food had gone straight to bin.

Total rip off, £5 for 5 pieces of tiny chicken, £5 for 2 tiny kebabs. Curries that are supposed to be vindaloo not spicy and instead taste of citrus. Naan breads as small as my hand, sadly this area is filled with over expensive mediocre food. Don’t bother!

This is our local Indian. We’ve supported it for years and have always had good service and good. Our last visit was a dissapoitmebt Both in terms of food and cleanliness.

We had high hopes for our visit here having been recommended by a friend. We have an Indian restaurant in Southall that we like to go to but fancied a change.

We had a takeaway menu in our post box to say the Memories of India, Farnham Common delivered free to charge to among places Gerrards Cross:-) So we decided to order that evening, unfortunately the heavy snow made it too dangerous for the delivery drivers to come out. So the next evening we tried again, they remembered us and took our order, delivery time about 30 mins. Anyway 20 mins later dinner arrived along with complimentary poppadoms and relishes, great!! Well, have to say it was the best indian meal we have had for a long time, as other local Restaurants we had been using are just not so great these days. Vegetable rice for me awesome and all the other dishes were just great. Thank you so much Memories of India, we will definitely be back ! and to others I would say "you gotta eat here".

Great service and the food is very tasted. I ordered a mango lassi of which I could've easily had 2 or 3 more glasses as they were so tasty. At the time we went there was a party going on so was very noisy and so couldn't hear ourselves speak. Service is prompt

We recently did my dads 60th birthday at the restaurant which was a surprise. Nash and his team were amazing and were so accommodating to make my vision to life and make it a memorable day which we will never forget. The service was amazing all the staff did their best to make sure we were happy and nothing was too much. Food was great too! Thanks again for a great evening! Would definitely recommend using this restaurant for any function!

Great service, awesome food - waiters recommendations were spot on. Have tried a few pretty good curry houses around the area, but must say this one rates right up at there as one of the top ones around! Definitely be using and visiting them again on a regular basis.

Visited here as part of a group of 80 ladies. We had the restaurant to ourselves of a lunchtime. Buffet food was very hot, tasty and plentiful. Cannot comment on the "from the menu" food, but will visit again to taste it.

Have been coming here for long time now. The food is amazing and the staffs are friendly with great customer service. Afgani special lamb and karahi chicken would be my all time favourite. You could also from the chef’s special menu section, they do have some unique dishes you won’t get anywhere else.

Food is OK, prices quite high and you always feel like you're being rushed - I would rather order a takeaway from here than sit in the restaurant.

Not real Indian food but a Bangladesh type of cuisine. The restaurant is well designed and comfortable..you also have Wi-Fi.

We went to a restaurant called memories of India in Farnham common where we were greeted by staff at the door we had booked for a party of 16 adults we were served drinks by the friendly staff and ordered our starters the starters were very good the staff gave us time between starters and main course which was good our main course came to us all at the same time and the food was out of this world some of our friends were Indian and agreed that the food and service was excellent we finished off with dessert and our drinks the staff were very friendly and we were never ushered out of the restaurant even though they were busy and people were waiting for tables we have decided to go back every month for our meals to a restaurant where the food is exquisite and the staff our warm and friendly thank you memories for a brilliant evening see you in a month kindest regards pat regan.

Ordered takeaway on Saturday at 5.30pm. Food took 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive. Portions were very small with the main dishes only half filled and more expensive than our usual take away. Also given the wrong starter. Won't be trying a second time.

Clearly there’s a change of chef(s) on certain days. Some days food is great and easy for a home delivery, it’s never amazing but it’s good enough. Other days you wish you hadn’t bothered especially mid week just don’t bother

Starters were tasty but a bit dry. Garnishing and salad was stale-coriander was actually black. Main course was ok. Naan was soft and fluffy. Green chicken curry tasted good. Veg kofta tasted good too.

This was my first visit to the restaurant and I must say I was very impressed with all of it, the food was very tasty, the staff very attentive.

Had a group booking with friends. We all found the food very average. Parking was difficult and service was unenthusiastic.

I suggested this restaurant to a friend as a mutually convenient place to meet with good reviews. The first time was great, but the second time one of the waiters ignored me and addressed only my friend. It was "Sir" this and "Sir" that but not once "Madam". I am a paying customer. I deserve respect. The next restaurant isn't faraway. Goodbye!

We went for a family lunch on bank holiday Sunday. The restaurant was very quiet but the food was good & the service excellent. My husbands food was prepared spicy as he likes it & the children’s dishes were very mildly spiced as requested. Pay & display car park nearby so no problem parking.

We come here all the time as the food is consistently good and the staff are always so friendly. We often take the family here and we are made so welcome. Lovely atmosphere.

Having tried Indian Restaurants before for take always we have always found something we weren’t happy with until we came across Memories of India .

Everything about this place is top drawer. You are greeted with a hand shake, the food is superb, the service perfect and it's not expensive. This is the most enjoyable 'Indian' food experience I have had in years. It was actually the second time that I had been here and it was great both times. This spot is worth going out of your way for. GO !

We went here for a birthday. We always come here it's a place that we have trusted for many years. Staff were brilliant. And has for the food (exquisite )the place is children friendly and a pleasure to go to. This is thee best place to go to for miles around. Came here for the first time and requested for the dishes to be made in Bengali style (as the area is mainly of white British culture) and we wanted it to taste spicy. The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant. All staff were nice and friendly to us. Overall a very good experience!

This place is really good. The food is top quality, the staff are friendly, efficient and attentive, and the prices reasonable.

Hosted a themed private party last weekend for 70 people and it was a huge success. Nash and his team were fantastic and went above and beyond. The food was delicious with a great variety for vegetarians as well as non veg (we had a full buffet service). The venue itself is beautiful and very spacious & we had adequate space for all our guests to dine and dance comfortably, in addition to a large 'sweet treats' corner, guest book signing area and a photo selfie booth corner. We had the flexibility to utilise not just the main room, but the lobby and bar area for our event as well. All our guests had an amazing evening. Highly recommended & would not hesitate to use again!

We love this place. We've been regulars for over a decade. We booked up weeks ago for a family meal for 9 of us. Nice early 6pm table - meant we don't encroach on any romantic later diners, plus we get our girls to bed at a decent hour with full tummies. Not to be the case though, sadly. Seated at 6pm. Didn't see our food until nearly 8pm...!!! ......after much chasing, many unreasonable excuses and no acknowledgement of error. Had we not experienced so much good here previously we would most certainly have walked out. To my horror they had the audacity to bring a FULL bill to the table. No reduction, goodwill or consideration for the entire catastrophe. We paid in full as the children were exhausted and lost their appetites. We were due to return next week for an occasion, but have chosen an alternative. We will return some time soon and we hope that this was a one off. I am still gobsmacked they demanded full payment. That's probably the biggest error of it all. Problems happen.... It's how you recover it though. This was not acknowledged acceptably in any way, which concerns me that they deem it acceptable. Such a shame as we love this place, usually. .

By far the best food in our local area. Great restaurant, with a good ambience. There was no rush, as there can be in some restaurants.

Tastless ghee free Indian food. Khorma had no flavour. Its the sort of restaurant where you'll get the most standard Indian fayre with no thought or passion put into its making.

Located in Farnham Common High Street, a warm welcome is provided and generous attention is afforded by smart and clean staff. The extensive choice from the menu is equally enjoyable and plentiful and prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Went with family for a birthday . Staff couldn't do enough for us. Special child's meal cooked for one of the fussy ones. Lovely atmosphere. Modern decor and facilities all very clean. Food really good and specially cooked to our taste (not too spicy!). All the staff were fun and lovely with the children. We'll definitely be calling again, next time we visit Slough area. Thanks for a great evening.

Love love love this place. Have become our regular as their delivery service is excellent. Every thing about this place is fantastic, never had an issue with food or service and have gone here quite a bit since discovering it. Both eat in or order from home, you really won't regret it. This restaurant is conveniently situated on the high street with a public car park at the rear. The car park is free at off peak times so this is very handy. The restaurant is clean and very relaxing to be in. Staff are very attentive. There is a very good choice on the menu including all types of meat, fish and vegetarian meals. The food is fresh and tasty and portions are good.Service was speedy and there were dishes to suit all tastes available. Very good value and a pleasant atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.

Delicious! Only small difference with takeaway is the mixed grill doesn't seem as generous or tasty when not eaten in. All else was great as always though.

We have dined here many times and will continue! Every meal has been very nice, and the service is excellent! I have had some of the vegetarian dishes, and my husband always orders lamb dishes -- all have been wonderful. The staff treats us like special guests and are very attentive.

Ordered a takeaway chicken korma lamb pasanda and tikka masala poppadoms rice and naan. I ordered as soon as they opened for dinner service, and it seems like I had left overs from lunch.Lamb was tuff (seemed like it was reheated) more worryingly me my partner and children have all had bad stomachs. I have called the restaurant demanding my money back and am awaiting a managers call even if I do get my money back I will never be visiting this place again. I understand people have off days but serving food that makes you ill there is no excuse for it

We had our wedding anniversary/civil ceremony party here and the staff were amazing and very accommodating. We had around 80 guests and it was a lovely atmosphere. They set the venue up beautifully and the food was delicious. Our guests were very pleased and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Everyone enjoyed the day thoroughly and we all left with a smile...Definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be visiting again!!!

We hadn't been here for some years and were much impressed by the changes. Restaurant reception, ambience, linen and service very good. Food excellent. 4 different starters, main courses and sweets appeared without fuss and as we'd requested them. Deserves patronage.

The restaurant is spacious, but has a charming warmth, with very welcoming hosts. The food was absolutely delicious. There is a wide choice and suited to all tastes. We were given taster chapatis with 4 flavours, then fantastic starters. The mains were the specials but made to suite us...ie medium for my husband and mild for me....all I can say is that we were not at all disappointed. The service was attentive without being intrusive. A really good experience. Recommend it!

Took a few staff for lunch! 9 of us in total and they all enjoyed their food. Great Service and friendly staff. The food was very well presented and was what you would expect in a high end restaurant in Central London. Very impressed with the place. We will definitely go again.

Food was ok very tomato tasting madras but was spicy What really got me was the blatant waiters over charging Madras nann bread popadums dips £20When I said something he said he'd charged me for the cobra that was at first on the house So when I added food up it still with a £4:75 pint came to £16:00So I again questioned waiter who reluctantly gave me £3 change STILL SHORTI thought WTF if i complain again what's the food going to be like Unfortunately farnham common needs a decent curry house

The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, everyone was more than pleased and satisfied with the food and service. We no doubt will be visiting Memories of India again in the near future.
