Giggling Squid Beaconsfield in South Bucks

Been to this place many times over the last few years. Great authentic Thai food. From the starters to the main course is just awesome and best of quality. But this time we were served by a lady called Leo. A person with a smile and ready to serve you and check on you . Nothing was too difficult for her. Just made the evening even more nicer.

Delicious food, doesn't disappoint. Of course you have to try the squid it's fabulous. Nice selection of cocktails (or mocktails if you're driving!) Everything we had was very tasty, service was good with very friendly staff.

The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding.

Seems inflation has hit this place hard. Used to dine here every other week 5 years ago 2020. The duck spring rolls have shrunk and the duck confit used to be two duck legs not 1!! The cripsy squid wasnt crisy, it was rather slimy with the batter falling off. Price has gone up too. Underwhelmed to be honest! Not like it used to be:/

Came here on a Monday evening as it was my husband's birthday. Food was really good. Lots of great flavours, wine was good as was the non alcoholic mojito. The staff were amazing especially Ben and Frankie, lots of personality in a really good way.There were several birthdays being celebrated and each time the staff came out to sing. Thank you

Came here for Mother’s Day, and they were really accommodating. I forgot to adjust the booking to state there was a member of my party who was unable to navigate the stairs, but they made an alternative table available very quickly, so we really appreciated that! The food was lovely, and really cannot recommend the salt and pepper squid enough, I would happily eat this every day if I could! Only disappointment was that two of the main dishes we really wanted were sold out, but that was understandable given it was Mother’s Day and very very busy. Overall a good service, been a couple of times and clearly came back due to past experiences. Recommended.

During a recent visit to the Giggling Squid in Henley-on-Thames, our group was met with mixed feelings. On one hand, the service was impeccable—staff were attentive, friendly, and ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. The food itself lived up to the restaurant's reputation, offering vibrant flavours and beautifully presented dishes. However, what overshadowed this otherwise pleasant experience was the behaviour of the restaurant manager. Throughout our meal, we noticed her being overly authoritative and dictatorial towards the staff. Her harsh tone and constant micromanagement created a tense atmosphere that was impossible to ignore. It was disheartening to see such excellent service being delivered under visibly stressful conditions for the team. Having visited other branches of Giggling Squid in Henley-on-Thames and Marlow, this was unlike anything we’ve ever encountered. Those locations have always maintained a warm and professional environment, making this incident particularly jarring. While the food and service were commendable, the uncomfortable dynamic left a lasting impression on our group. We hope head office and management addresses this issue to ensure a more positive environment for both staff and diners in the future. We won't be returning to Beaconsfield anytime soon.

Delicious Thai food, as always. Went here to celebrate a birthday. Sadly we were initially served by a new member of staff, who didn't know the menu and took a long time to get drinks, etc...however every new waiter/waitress needs to train, so it was fine.

Six of us went here for my wife's birthday the food was very good though the service was a little slow but as there were 6 of us we just chatted so on this occasion it was not a problem. I have been here before & while it is not the best Thai I have ever been to it's pretty close & I'm already planning on returning there in the next couple of weeks. The menu gives you a fairly good choice although I have seen bigger but then it's better to do less well than more poorly which is a common error.

I was cautious about how authentic the Thai food would be here as it’s a chain restaurant but it was brilliant. We ordered the crispy squid, duck rolls, duck curry, beef steak & crispy beef, coconut rice, sticky rice and every dish was 5/5. Great portion sizes so good value for money. Shout out to Leo who was so lovely and attentive, no faults whatsoever. Will definitely return to try other dishes, thank you!

Great place for a family brunch or lunch ! We chose some tapas and then main courses! The kids’ menu was also most suitable for our young grandchildren. Ben our server was very friendly and helpful in recommending a selection of different dishes. He also ensured the children were fed first ! Excellent tasty food at reasonable prices - Great service - many thanks.

Food was absolutely awful. We had the Fisherman feast. It was all over cooked in oil. The soft shell crab was old or frozen with no taste. The squid bites were burnt to a crisp and oily. The best thing was the crackers. Very disappointing for my son’s birthday.

Really friendly and hard working staff, beautifully decorated interior and the food is perfect every time, highly recommend. I also asked for a takeout for my boyfriend, who couldn't make dinner, and it came beautifully packaged. They put so much detail and care into everything they do

Given the number of positive reviews, I had high hopes... The good: The ambience and decor were very pretty and romantic. And I was really pleased to see that tables hadn't been squeezed into every available space. The service was fantastic, our waiter was an absolute joy, I wish I got his name so I could give him a special mention. We ordered: Duck roll Soft shell crab Chicken wings Chicken chilli and basil Prawn stir fry Sea bass Chicken jungle curry Pak choi & tenderstems The not so good: Apart from the prawn dish, the flavours for the rest of our order were quite tame and just wasn't flavoursome. It's a real shame because it's a very pretty venue, and I really wanted to share the same experiences as previous reviewers, but alas, my high hopes were dashed

Valentina (the manager, I believe) was truly the nicest person I’ve ever spoken to. She was so calm, kind, and professional, making me feel completely at ease. I have allergies, and she handled everything with such care and seriousness, making sure I felt safe and comfortable. Even on an incredibly busy night, she was attentive and on top of everything. Her warmth and professionalism made the experience exceptional—I’d return to this restaurant because of her alone! ❤️

This is one of our favourite restaurants in the area. Food is fabulous and tasty and the same every time you order. As for service … the team are amazing too. Super friendly and helpful … and fantastic with kids!! Everyone remembers us when we return which is rather lovely too. It has a real family feel to it. Staff are close and you can tell they all help each other out … and I put that down to how good the manager is there … she’s really excellent. One of the nicest people too and runs such a tight ship!! Well done team Giggling Beaconsfield 🫶 We’ll see you soon xx

Love Thai and our starter arrived tout suite as did our expensive drinks…..it went downhill from there. We waited and waited and waited l for our mains Then by coincidence we met 2 friends who were leaving as they had waited 2 hours for nothing! Heating was turned off upstairs they said and to quote ‘they were going for an Indian meal’. It’s more street food due to the noise and number of deliveries they are dealing with. I just think they might be better to have a takeaway next door. I feel for the chefs and waiters. The manager blamed them but I could see them working so hard! It was bound to be a mess! Sorry

2 hours and no food delivered. Phone taken off the hook which is really embarrassing. Front up, let people cancel and reorder elsewhere.

First visit to this restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and the service and all our food were first class. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed and very fairly priced lunch or evening meal. Will definitely be retuning. A special thank you to our waiter, I believe his name was Jaime.

The food was average, it was nothing special about it. The service was quite frugal, lacking the love from a non chain Thai restaurant. The food was not bad but it did lack love, you felt the transactional element of it.

A really nice Thai restaurant. We went to the Beaconsfield branch. Very unique decor and a welcoming team of servers. We were seated upstairs on a Friday night with charming open beam ceiling. Food was very fresh and overall tasty! Tended to be a bit spicy for my palate but everyone else really enjoyed it.

Had a fantastic new year lunch here. Sa lively setting, staff very helpful and friendly. The food was beautifully cooked we went for the set meals which was great value for money and very tasty. Would highly recommend eating here .we will definitely be back in the near future.

2nd time at NYE very good food considering how busy they were

Great Thai place, stopped there on my way back to London after a day's work on the field, I was not disappointed, my only concern was I could not try everything on the menu as they all looked amazing, you should offer a sampling option!

Had our team Christmas lunch there, and everything was great. The restaurant was quite busy considering it was Wednesday day time. We submitted our menu choices in advance, so only had to order drinks on arrival (although it's also possible to pre-order drinks) Our food was delicious and nicely presented. Most of us had salmon for the main, and the portion was quite large with a big piece of salmon! Great customer service!

We'd booked a table for 7 people on a midweek evening. When we arrived we were taken to a table located upstairs where no other tables were occupied. Eventually our order was taken but the starters took a while to arrive. Then another long wait for the main courses - by now over an hour and a half since we arrived, only to have to send two back as they were almost cold. Some of the dishes gave the impression of having been stood for a long time hence the temperature and also that a fish dish was considerably overcooked. Some of the tables nearby did become occupied but again they seemed to have to wait a long time for service and then for their food. Quite a disappointment for a special family meal. I don't think we'll return.

Worst Pad Thai ever,it was absolutely tasteless. The service was non existent. We were served mains and drinks. No offer of desserts or hot drinks. Very very poor!

Price increased but the quality of the food remains unchanged. Attentive service, despite having a really busy restaurant on the day I visited. All in all, a great experience and delightful cashew nuts prawn curry. The non alcoholic iced drink was seriously phenomenal.

Sorry to say, one of our party last night had the Salmon. She has been sick and ill since arriving home snd has spent the entire day in bed !

We had great waiters last night Georgia & Ben, they were very attentive & kind. My partner also disliked his meal from personal preference and the manager kindly changed his meal for him with no extra charge. The food was lovely and we even took home the leftovers to eat today! Takeaways are never the same as eating in. But after a long day I didn’t fancy collecting. Opting for deliveroo. It was by no means cheap and probably the most expensive Thai I have ever ordered. I was surprisingly impressed. Veg Massaman, coconut rice, red chicken curry, Tom yum rice all a hit! Just a bit more veg/potato in both curries would have deserved a higher score. Keen to now return and dine in. Well Done!

Visiting our son and his partner in High Wickham. I loved this restaurant! It was bright and clean. My mobility scooter wasn’t a problem once we were shown a more accessible entrance! The staff. were wonderful, very chatty and helpful. I enjoyed the food. We had. a shared starters, which was like a mini tasting menu. The beef was just amazing and I liked the variety. The portions were good and my fish main was excellent. We had a wonderful evening and felt very well looked after.

Food was poor. Sorry but it was. Reads so well but just not great. Pepper squid was good. Papaya salad wasn’t. Masaman curry was supposedly chicken but lacked chicken! I’m sorry I can’t remember name of beef dish on specials but it was awful. Tasted like fatty beef in gravy. No idea what cut it was but deeply unpleasant. Service was really basic. Had to keep asking - for drinks, to order. Felt like an effort. It’s a pretty restaurant. I’m trying to find the positives but really struggling.

Great Restaurant. Excellent food. However, we traveled from the North West to re-visit, just for a meal. Unfortunately, they had changed the Menu! Our favourite dishes had been replaced. So, we were a little disappointed.

Friday night, busy and lively with excellent food and even better service. Taste buds will certainly enjoy the experience. Didn’t have room for desserts as the main meal and starters were generous. Recommend.

Lovely food. We sat in the garden which was nice and quiet and spacious so could sit apart from other diners.

Arrived at the restaurant, service was slow. Our starters arrived, we ordered a sharing platter for starters. Half the wings were cold, half were warm.. the salt and pepper squid had no taste, apart from oil and were inedible. They forgot 1 of our dishes when the mains arrived. We had to ask for drinks twice, when someone finally arrived with them. Even when we asked for the bill, we had a long wait again. We feel that standards have gone down, as we use to come often. Would not come back again or recommend.

Great service! Food beautiful! Been a few times here but came last wed for my daughters birthday and must say was prob the best one so far! Our waiter Ben was so thoughtful… he must of overheard it was her birthday so did a cake with candles as a surprise! Very thoughtful and very observant! Thank you to him and his team please. This particular branch is so pretty. Beautiful decor throughout. My friend and I had a lovely meal here. We shared the Street Food platter and it was so tasty, paired with complimenting dipping sauces. We also shared the prawn and soft shell crab curry. Wow, the seafood was so tasty and lightly coated in batter. The curry sauce was lovely and it packs a punch! A very enjoyable dining experience plus the service was exceptional.

This is a great Thai restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. Had the squid starter which had the most tasty green sauce. It’s a must. The batter was light and crunchy but in a good way. The “yummy” duck rolls were also nice and had a rich sauce to accompany. The meal was off to a good start. I then had the king prawn pad Thai which was very very tasty. I loved it. Great balance of flavours and textures. As good as I’ve tasted outside of Asia. Service was good, asked about my allergies. Nice decor but maybe needs some background music or something? Chairs were comfy. Would go again!

Always one of my favourite places to eat! I have come so many times and love it so much, it’s an amazing atmosphere with delicious food. My waiter was called Ben and he was an excellent waiter, very funny and attentive. Definitely recommend!

Suffered sickness a couple of hours after eating a meal of shellfish at this restaurant. When reported in detail to the restaurant management they did not apologise for serving me bad or contaminated food but instead wanted me to complete a form. They were more interested in adherence to their policies and processes than the customer experience which says it all! Got the impression they did not believe me and were employing delaying tactics to deter me from taking further. Reading through management responses to unhappy customers’ reviews it would seem they use a standard reply. Won’t be eating there again!! 👎🏻

Disappointed with the food quality as it was not as good as expected. Reminded me of Wagamama where food always tastes like remotely preprepared chilled food often not heated all the way through sufficiently , or perhaps the chefs had an off night ,will try again in future in hope that was issue.

Ate here for lunch, celebrating our Wedding Anniversary which we shared with one of the staff when she took a phot of us. Food was excellent. Starters wise went for the favourites of Salt and Pepper Squid and Duck Spring Rolls. My wife had Thai Red Chicken Curry for main and I had the Pork Hock on the bone and we both had sticky rice. You don't need a rice side with the pork dish. The food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and we were brought two scoops of complimentary ice cream with a Happy Anniversary message in fruit coulis on the plate which was a really lovely gesture. We had a great time and I can't recommend this place highly enough. Hot, piping, delicious food, good portions and wonderful, attentive service. We'll be returning to the Giggling Squid.

We love the giggling squid and have to say the staff here know what they are serving. Sadly the Windsor branch didn't know the menu so well. Staff were friendly, proactive and served us quickly. Very quiet at mid day but had just opened. The white chocolate matcha cheese cake is delicious! Despite it's £8 price tag.

Visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening with a friend. We’d heard good things about Giggling Squid and were looking forward to the dining experience. Enjoyed a drink in the bar before being shown to our table . Service was good and the food did not disappoint. Unfortunately on returning home later that evening I became unwell and vomited a couple of times. The following day I continued to feel unwell with a headache and nausea. I emailed the restaurant and explained what I had eaten that evening and what had happened when I returned home. The manageress telephoned me and told me that I would need to complete a form before the matter could be taken further. The form was emailed to me but could not be completed on line. Also it would need to be either scanned or returned via the post. Nobody dines out in the expectation of falling ill. Nor does anyone expect to pay for the pleasure! It would have been good PR for the restaurant to have refunded me immediately rather than ask me to complete a form which seemed like a delaying tactic on their part. I did not receive a follow up call either which confirms my thought that they were hoping I would not pursue my complaint. I won’t be visiting the restaurant again.

food was cold and sent back. out of the 4 dishes my wife sent hers back due to the meat being cold but sauce warm. Pad Thai was very sweet, yes its a sweet dish but should be be sickly sweet. massaman lamb, meat was tender but the sauce itself was grainy, hot to almost warm the lamb, potatoes and carrots were only just cooked through and again seemed as if the sauce would warm the veg. my son enjoyed his dish! oddly the bannisters etc were sticky to touch... i have been to a few GS's but this experience was bad enough to not go back to this branch again. I would call it overpriced mediocrity. staff - good!

Arrived at 7.00 pm and shown straight to table. Busy with families and couples. Starters were satay chicken, sticky chicken wings and pork belly. Absolutely superb, very tasty and decent portions. The dressings were good enough to lick the plate. Mains of beef curry and stir fried chicken with cashew nuts, noodles and coconut rice. All very tasty and clean plates followed. Great atmosphere and friendly happy service. Definitely recommend this venue for tasty and quality food !!!!

The starter was excellent but my the vegetables were very hard.

Quick service, good portions, nice atmosphere and staff was super friendly! 150£ for 4 people. Almost everything was excellent except for two things. Starter: Crispy Squid Bits it was super dry and 70% flour 30% squid. The dessert Melting Heart Chocolate Dessert was very disappointing as it didn't have any "melting heart" it was more like a brownie (?)

It was a lovely lunch fmafter visit the model village which is 5 minutes drive from the restaurant. A lovely blonde lady working behind the bar welcomed us and she was very friendly with our kids. Food was ok, good value for money

had such an amazing meal. got the cashew stir-fry with chicken and loved it. the sauce was so flavorful!! defo recommend only problem was as it’s an old building there was a little dead upstairs, however it may have been as sitting right next to window- i did wear a big jumper as well- service was great and staff were lovely helped with any concerns on the menu. have recommended to many already and will 100% be going back!!!
