Conveniently located but well hidden little cafe primarily serving a wide range of toasted sandwiches. Starting from only £4 these tasty and filling for the price, which is considerably lower than most places in the area. Brilliant for a quick lunch stop between exploring attractions in Fitzrovia!

Just off of Oxford Street you can stuff your face with a grilled cheese sandwich!! Only disappointment is lack of jalapeños (which are great in grilled cheese). The truffle fries are good too. And the cheese pouring sauce is a nice one.

Mac N Cheese 5.00 GBP and the Classic 4.00 . Drinks only 1.00. We all thought everything was bland. I did not know why my Spanish Melt was Spanish, Tasted like ever other one.

We ordered the classic - it was ok, but I could easily make a better one at home. The cheese was very bland. We also had the mac and cheese - this was a total miss. You need to use a sharp cheese in mac and cheese, yours is very bland and has the consistency of wall paper paste. We ordered some fries (chips) - another total miss. They were obviously cheap frozen fries, and the worst part was that the guy gave us some that were freshly cooked and some that had been sitting around for a while. Some were burn your mouth hot and others were cool. Even though I love grilled cheese toasties, I will definitely never be going back to this place.

walked past this place and couldn't resist going in as I love grilled cheese but was unfortunately disappointed. The guy who was working was unfriendly and quite rude to myself and my boyfriend which immediately put us off. Nevertheless, we both ordered the pastrami grilled cheese. Both were average - too much pastrami and not enough cheese. The garlic and herb dip was yummy and complimented it well though. The food was alright, I just wouldn't go back as there are better places to spend £7 each on a small bite to eat.

The careful positioning of the phrase "special cheese blend" allows them to reduce the cheese content down to a minus. The blend they so dearly protect I imagine has more plastic than a bin bag - Certainly tasted that wayNote: My order took well over 20 minutes.

We arrived around 10am but it wasn't made clear we could only order one of the two breakfast melts. It was a really small breakfast menu!We both had the Full Works and a cup of tea. It didn't take long to prepare, we had a comfortably short wait. The cafe is small but nicely decorated, we enjoyed the cheese jokes on the wall! The sandwiches were full and there was indeed a lot of melted cheese, which was great. I didn't get much flavor from the sandwich though, I could mostly taste the relish. I wasn't entirely sold on it. That being said, my husband loved his. I would go back and try something from their full menu!

Popped in for lunch today, and the service is very fast - not very attentive almost like a grilled cheese Mcdonalds. Also the area near the till is very tight.Seating is lovely.I ordered a basic three cheese toastie with tomato soup, I expected to pay £7 but the lady said £5.Everywhere in London you expect to pay between £4-£8 for lunch so I felt the price was super reasonable even if it is quite a basic meal.In the day and age of healthy eating, homeade grilled cheeses tend to be made on a grill with no butter. This however was warm gooey and delicious. Sitting looking out at the very wet London I was really happy with the portion size and quality of the grilled cheese. The tomato soup tasted just as fresh and was piping hot. Dipping the grilled cheese into this was amazing - maybe my new fave lunch in London.Worth every penny, very filling.

I'd seen a lot of hype on instagram about this place but it was extremely average, me and my boyfriend both chose salt beef toasties as we both love salt beef bagels from brick lane, but there was literally the thinnest bit of salt beef in there with two slices of pickle and some mustard and the cheese over powered all those things, so we paid £10 altogether for average toasties we coulda done a better job at making at home!

Even though the sandwiches were in packaged to keep them warm and crispy... they were not and most of the cheese had slipped out of the bread. I convinced my husband and kids to wander around Soho in search of grilled cheese. My two sons had Nutella & mascarpone melts, my daughter had a Mac & Cheese melt, while my husband I had classic melts. My classic was about on par with what I could make at home. The Mac & Cheese was a bit bland but an interesting idea. My sons really enjoyed theirs. (I should note that most of the dessert options were out, including what my boys actually wanted to order, Banoffee and Oreo.)Coffee was awful; shouldn't even be called coffee. And with lids that can't actually stay on properly. The fries were okay; I'd recommend avoiding the pricier truffle cheese fries and just stick with cheese fries as they were about the same. I'm glad we tried it out but I'm not sure we would return. I can see why it would be popular with people passing by and those working in the area.

If you like a good old grilled cheese sandwich then you won't be let down. The amount of cheese they put in is great as is the quality of it and the bread. Grilled to perfection. I'm quite simplistic in my grilled cheese sandwiches, I don't need any sauces or any other accompaniments but if you like those things there are lots of additional fillings on the menu that you can have. Not helped by the sheer number of orders coming in online. After 10 minutes of waiting, they had to ask what my order was as they'd forgotten/given it to someone else. When I finally got my order, it wasn't complete. The toastie was ok, but not worth the wait.. I went to the melt room yesterday. The grilled cheese sandwich was great but service was poor. Truffle fries ARE NOT WHAT THEY ARE ADVERTISED AS. They are cheese fries with something that appears to be "truffle essence" sprayed on at the last minute from a tiny perfume bottle. I asked for truffle fries, got cheese fries delivered to me. I questioned it and the waitress went behind the counter came back with a spray and lightly sprayed my fries superficially over the top. This is not how truffle fries are made- truffle fries are fried in truffle oil. Disappointing.

The idea of Melt Room is pretty simple and in theory should be great. I ordered the pulled pork melt on rye bread and it was good but definitely could be better. There wasn't that much pulled pork in the sandwich and a little overly greasy on the bread - still tasted good. The cheesy fries I got as an accompaniment were decent but the squeezy cheese applied to them just felt a bit cheap. I'd definitely return for the occasional sandwich and as the menu gets refined, maybe a bit more often, but it definitely feels like a very occasional bite to eat rather than threatening one of my usual go-to lunch spots in Soho.

Should've tried a toastie - Went for the 'Truffle Cheese Fries' and 'Vine Tomato Soup'. The fries, when emptied had a miserable amount of truffle scented cheese dolloped on them (effecting about 10 fries) and leaving the others naked and bland. I gave the rest away and moved onto the soup. Assuming - foolishly - it would be homemade (with the 'Vine' in the title suggesting so). Imagine my confusion when I open it to see Heinz tomato soup looking back at me - At least have a warning as I would definitely have ordered something different. Although if tinned soup with a fist-full of cheese is your thing - you're in the right place. Don't visit if you appreciate effort going into your food.

Ah yes, the humble Melt Room, we've been here before, haven't we.So after my first review received a response from the owners I decided to give this establishment a second try - and why not - I mean, I hadn't tried their piece de resistance: The Mac n' Cheese toastie. So on my last trip I had the Tuna toastie, that, to be frank, was pretty flavourless. Giving it a second chance, I was curious what the Mac n' Cheese toastie would be like. Well, first off, much better than the Tuna one. Much much better. The pasta was nice, well cooked but not too soggy, the cheese was quite good too and the taste was certainly of mac n cheese.I added bacon, which consisted of one slab of bacon across the top - I expected bacon bits in the pasta - this was slightly disappointing. I also felt it needed a bit more salt (or the use of more mature cheese) but I won't split straws over it - I enjoyed the toastie. Sadly we didn't hit perfection though, when I got to the office - 2 mins after I left the melt room (I work within a stones throw) I was saddened to find the inside of the toastie was luke warm at best. Thankfully the chips I had ordered were nice and warm so it wasn't all bad. Actually the chips deserve a mention, they were far better than they had any right to be. Nice partially skin on fries, well seasoned - 5/5 for those and at £1.50 not bad going at all.The thing is, that this meal cost £7.50 which if we are honest is quite a lot.I'm still not sure if this is somewhere I'll try again, but at least the Mac n' Cheese is worth a try.

I have given it 2 stars as anything with melted cheese gets 2 stars. Having been served thick gooey toasted cheese in the US, and seeing the pics on Facebook I couldn't wait. Ate in and got a classic with fries and a Coke. Sandwich arrived quickly in a bag. Strange. Fried 5 mins later with extra cheese that wasn't ordered. Underwhelming sandwich - looked like a panini rather than one done on a flat top grill. Cheese not exactly generous and nothing like their pictures. Fries very McDonalds. No obvious sauces. What seemed a great idea was reduced to just another Soho sandwich bar. They offer 6 different varieties, but why bother when you can't even get plain right. It was cheap, but I'd pay more for less!

Was excited to try this place out as they had been getting a lot of mentions in the press. However, my experience did not live up to the hype.I ordered the patty melt as it was a special on the menu and it was very disappointing. All of their melts are pre-made and all that happens when you order is that they put it in a sandwich toaster. It's nothing special, you can go to any cafe and get this done.Having a pre-made burger patty means it has to be cooked all the way through meaning it was dry and tasted like cardboard by the time I ate it. Also, for a place that only does melts, they barely put any cheese in mine (see uploaded photo). This made everything even more dry. Very disappointing.Overall, the melt was very bland and lacked seasoning and flavour. It cost £7.50 which is absolutely ridiculous. This is not good value at all for what you get. You could get a delicious, freshly cooked burger at numerous places nearby for the same price. Or you could go to a cafe for less money. The staff were friendly though. That is the only thing saving them from a one star review.

Ordered two of the vegetarian cheese toasties choices, Not enough cheese, not flavored with anything else, they were rushed and even the sauces they charge 50p for just doesn't add anything to the toasties. Come here for shattered dreama and disappointment, and if you're on a cheese free diet. Also at around £4 a pop, It's a piss take. Why two stars, cause it is still cheese,..

So I work within a stones throw of this little place and after reading about it online, decided to give it a go.The staff are friendly enough - and were evidently having a good time (I popped in a the end of the lunch hour rush so it was a bit quieter). The menu looks pretty good but I decided against one of the more specialised items to go for the humble Tuna melt. This one being slightly different with the addition of beans. The sandwich itself looked good, it was a nice golden brown in colour but didn't seem to have been overcooked. I'm not the world's biggest sourdough fan, so it'd be nice if they offered different breads (one or two choices would be fine).Equally, and this was my real issue, the sandwich/melt just seemed to lack flavour. The cheese was a bit flavourless, as were the beans and the tuna taste hardly made it through - very disappointing. I think the real killer was that the cheese and tuna had very little salt, and just didn't convey their flavour above the sourdough. To me, the answer isn't adding condiments or salt afterwards, this is a melt, not a burger, it should be ready to eat. Although £4.50 isn't exactly expensive, it does make Leon's Fishfinger wrap look like excellent value, which can be had just down the road...One of those things, but unfortunately, due to lack of flavour, I find it hard to give it more than 3 stars.

Found this place while exploring on Oxford street. Has great BBQ chicken, pulled pork and lamb shoulder toasties that really hit the spot in winter. Solid lunch and very affordable.

Walked past and decided to pop in not so long ago - does exactly what it says on the tin. Service could of been slightly faster and the restaurant is limited in seats, however I think this could catch on and become a bigger brand. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and peckish. I had the original cheese and it was as good as I would of hoped - but how good can a plain cheese toasty be?!

The thought of a McDonald's breakfast (or McDonald's anything, for that matter) or a fry up after a night of heavy is drinking is quite literally the last thing I can stomach. The only thing that anchors me again is a cheese and onion sarnie from The Melt Room. Yep, I know people are thinking, "How hard is it to grill some cheese", but there's just something about the MR touch. There's the perfect blend of different cheeses they use, the choice of toasted bread that holds it all together, the way it's grilled...it's just bang on the money! Soaks up the hangover, doesn't leave you feeling even worse and tastes magical. And they have loyalty cards here as well so if you eat as many grilled sandwiches as I do, you'll reap the rewards!

I ordered a classic and the service was quick. The place is unpretentious and clean. The sandwich was tasty on sourdough bread and was piping hot! Although the sandwich didn't blow my socks off - it was reasonale value for money.

We visited this place at the weekend with our baby. The staff are amazingly friendly and thoughtful.I wasn't blown away by my cheese toastie, but it was good for a quick bite. Nice, clean cafe style seating and everything looked like it was cleaned thoroughly etc. Good place for a quick lunch!

These guys give the humble toasted sandwich an epic makeover! With options like Nutella or macaroni and cheese, it'll be hard not to please everyone. I had the tricolour (tomato, avocado and mozzarella) on a slightly cold windy day and it was positively soul warming :)

My friend and I have been craving for cheese toasties and stumbled upon the Melt Room. My friend had the original with onions and I got the one with the lamb. Both are really good and very cheesy.

My boyfriend and I went for a little after work treat when we couldn't be bothered to go home and cook. The staff were cleaning up and even though the place was empty they pain us zero attention upon our arrival and it took them 2-3 minutes to stop chatting and come over to greet us. I ordered a toastie with portabello mushrooms (yummy!) and my boyfriend the regular toastie - there are about 7-8 choices. This place is very casual, brightly lit like a fast food restaurant. The toasties are served in a paper bag, if you eat in you don't get plates. We just sat ourselves down and gorged on the cheesy goodness. They are epic, they are tasty, they are filled to the brim with cheese. I am not going to lie, I love cheese but even I felt a bit sick afterwards. I was too full to have a ricotta and nutella desert toastie, which I had planned on - next time I will go and just have this, as two full toasties would be WAY too much food! This place is simple and unassuming, if you don't expect too much this place is great!

was very excited to try this place out after reading a solid write up on it and having a love for grilled cheese and was just massively disappointed. I had the Pastrami melt and got 2 measly slices of meat a vague hint of horseradish and a ton of watery mushrooms. to add insult to injury the cheese was also barely melted. I will be returning to clarify my experience but as it stands, not impressed.

If you like cheese then the Melt Room is great for any cheese lover. SO MUCH CHEESE.There are all sorts of flavours to choose from. I went for the classic, cheese and onion without the onion (I hate onions). Delicious. Some of the other flavours on offer are lamb, beetroot, nutella etc Your toastie comes in a heat bag with a lcheese stamp on it (perfect if you're doing takeaway for the office, it'll stay hot as you walk back and they're easy to tell apart via the stamp). Lovely melting cheese and crunchy delicious bread. The perfect cheese toastie! The shop is small so it gets crowded at lunchtime but don't let that put you off. The wait is only about 10 minutes for a fresh cheesy sandwich. Only one downside I feel that the sandwiches are a tad on the expensive side.

I've eaten here a few times over the years when it was Bubba Gump so thought it was a safe bet for a birthday celebration meal before a night at the theatre with my husband. How wrong I was! There was no great welcome with lots of standing around in a cavernous space at the top of the stairs waiting for someone to eventually come to the desk. Then it was not clear if it was a queue or a crowd as the people who got attended to were in no particular order. We had booked and noted it was for a birthday. Maybe I should have mentioned that the birthday person was well into middle age and then we wouldn't have been seated in the midst of a lot of families with young children more with an atmosphere more like a fast food 'restaurant'. We asked to move but the only other place was a table looking onto an open area where the staff congregated to chat and serve drinks. It didn't look too clean and was an ugly view. The food was okay but very overpriced for what it was. The main courses were all over £20 and the cocktails were £10. I'd have expected a lot nicer surrounding and better food for this even in central London. I had the New Orleans Shrimp which were tasty but there was hardly any sauce so was very dry and I couldn't eat the rice without sauce. I will not be returning.
