Newly reopened today was so glad to go back absolutely brilliant evening lovely flavoursome food a real treat on the tastebuds

Really enjoyed our visit. Not often we opt for Indian food but it was a lovely experience. Everything fresh, great menu. We'll definitely be back.

Food was unfortunately terrible. I was really looking forward to it . The Peshwari naan was really horrible which is unusual because they are usually decent and I only had two small chopped up prawns in my curry when I ordered king prawns Not going to order again. I very rarely write negative reviews but feel robbed because the quality of food was so poor.

Chicken korma had a really good flavour. Not a lot of meat but very tender and loads of sauce. Pilau rice wasn’t.....it was all white! Peshwari naan delicious. When I checked they had taken off 10% for collection I was told that this had stopped ‘due to Covid’. It’s the first thing you see though on their website ....10% off all collections. I was given the discount when I told them this. I wouldn’t have checked it if it hadn’t been so prominently displayed!

Having never been here before and with most of the surrounding Indian Restaurant’s cutting corners on their ingredients we were both very surprised. We opted for a take out having not been there, The place was packed at around 7.30ish Saturday which was a good sign. We ordered 3 meals with Rice and Breads......all of the Food was perfectly cooked using I guess fresh ingredients, also all of the Dishes were all of different colour which tells me that they have got more than one Base sauce? unlike the other Restaurant’s nearby where all of their food looks and taste the same. The Food here was very tasty and delicious and we will be returning very soon. Thanks

Regularly visit with either friends or family and the restaurant although in a traditional building is modern and comfortable inside and the service good with helpful staff. The menu which has recently undergone an update has all the old favourites but some new and adventurous suggestions. Personally I like a Dansak which is one of the best I have tasted and that includes London restaurants. Sweet and hot. The family like Kormas both prawn and chicken and the food is consistently of a high standard attracting regular customers. It has a licence carrying a small but reasonable stock. It also offers a take away service.

I go here very often,eat in and take away. Always good,nice friendly staff,prompt food and good prices. I won't eat at any other Indian.

The meal we enjoyed here was delicious, their main house dishes sounded lovely and tempted me away from my usual choice. I'm very glad they did as the dish I tried one of the 'new' ones on their menu a Shabnam chingri was full flavoured and very moreish. They were kind enough to bring a taster of the tikka masala sauce out before we ordered. It was creamy in texture, well spiced and a little sweet with a nice tang. Great meal, would go back.

The best curry we’ve ever had. We’ve eaten here regularly so it wasn’t a fluke. The quality is superb, not floating in ghee! The meno has all the curry favourites but many different meals too....try the chicken mossaman. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the service is good - prompt but no sense of being rushed. A relatively small restaurant with a close, intimate atmosphere.

Went on a Sunday lunchtime and we were the only diners. Service friendly and food good, but general approach very sloppy. There were no tandoori dishes available because the tandoori oven had not been heated up for an expected quiet service time - which is ironic, given the restaurant's name! So - no tandoori/ tikka dishes, no naan bread. I was promised "some nice bread" instead, but was served up with a paratha, which, although very tasty, is a fried item, rather than a baked item. None of the staff were wearing any kind of uniform - all in t-shirts, jog-bottoms & trainers. There was a Henry hoover in the middle of the floor when we arrrived, and was still there when we left. At the end of the meal, it transpired that the card machine was not working (and hadn't been for some time). We were invited to walk to the nearest ATM instead. One guy was walking up and down the restaurant, talking loudly to someone on his phone in between serving us. Overall an impression of not-really-bothered to see us. Not impressed, which is a shame as the food was generally quite good.

Lovely food, good wine and friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

I reviewed this restaurant 5 years ago with the heading 'In nearly 30 years I haven't had a bad meal here.' Well 5 years on and if anything it has improved. The food is excellent I just cannot fault it, the service perfect, attentive but not in your face. Price well within budget. If you want a great Indian in Melksham, then come here.

15 of us had a meal in this restaurant in August 2018. The food was fantastic! The customer service is excellent. The food came out altogether in a very professional manner. Not an easy feat for such a big party of us.

Best Indian food I've ever had, fantastic service, fun and upbeat staff. Off the beaten path, got lucky we found it. Actually smelled it, and turned back to check it out. GLAD WE DID!

Visited recently with friends. Food was superb. We all had something different and everything was plentiful and tasty.We all agreed it was one of the best Indian meals we have ever had!! Staff friendly and helpful. Go and try if you haven't already!!

Our go-to Indian for take-away. Picked a Chicken Tikka Shally at random off the huge menu online and it was the best thing I've ever eaten.

Visited before a local football match. This is our second visit this year and we continue to be impressed. I’m pretty sure the menus have been updated and overall the presentation, service and food quality is high. It’s also very friendly! Parking is adjacent and is free after 6pm. Recommended.

Whenever I am in the area on business my local mate Nick and I always end up here and are never dissapointed,the staff are really friendly and the food is to die for,the menu seems to have changed every time I go but the variety and quality remain the same

It has een a while since we had eaten here and over the last 25 years the food has been consistently very good. On this occasion the staff were friendly and helpful when we ordered. We were however, disappointed with the takeaway that we had this time. Firstly, the portions seemed way less than before. Everything was drowned in oil, from 3 out of 4 dishes we drained half a bowl of oil out from the food (probably around 200ml). The flavours of the food (Butter chicken, Baigan Dana) had something missing and our Lamb Passanda was unlike any passanda we had ever tasted. The prawn biryani was the only dish that met the expected standard. Hopefully this was a one off but with so many other establishments in the area we will sadly not be returning.

Great range of dishes, friendly staff. Reasonable prices and discount for takeaways. Some good unusual vegetarian dishes as well which is always good!

Wide choice of dishes and usual drinks to accompany it. I've now been several times and have enjoyed it each time. Staff are helpful and polite. Menu tempts you to over order!

Most authentic and delicious Indian takeaway food for a while. Recommended to me by an Indian guest who had eaten there and he was quite correct with his recommendation, will be happy to eat my way through their offerings.

First time ordering from here. Will definitely be ordering again. Food arrived quickly, was fairly hot, got an extra poppadom! Loving it! I ordered the chicken shally, which was delicious, lots of coriander flavour and plenty of spice. Delicious!

Had a lovely meal at the Melksham Tandoori last night.My husband and I were seated immediately, and within 5 minutes had our drinks and poppadoms.All the food we ate was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The portions on the main course were huge. (Ended up leaving a lot) All in all my husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal where staff were friendly and checking on us many times to ensure our food was good.Certainly the best Indian meal out I've had in a long time and would highly recommend a visit.

Having eaten here since they first opened and when you could rely on the consistency of dishes we are moving our custom to another restaurant.The final straw was our last takeaway. The onion bajis were cooked to a crisp. The king prawn bhuna was sloppy and tasteless. The onion in it wasn't cooked properly so you were crunching on it. Very often we have found that even though this curry costs twice as much they only fill up your container half way making it technically four times as expensive.Lovely staff but can't waste any more money there.

We had a lovely meal to celebrate Mum's 84th birthday. Food was lovely and good to see old favourites on the menu but also some new dishes. Service was also great. The butter chicken was fab and everybody else enjoyed their choices. Will be back soon.

This was the first time I returned here after more than 20 years. I was relieved to find that the food is as good as I remembered it. Onion bhajis with Lamb Jalfrezi and Vegetable Dupiaza went down very well. Also they serve Kingfisher- always a cleaner taste than horribly sweet Cobra. I thoroughly recommend this place and encourage you to seek it out if you are in the area - worth a detour!

We had excellent seafood dishes at this restaurant. Service was good too. The decor could do with an update tho.

I love this place. Food is so good, staff are friendly warm and proud of their food. A good place to eat if you are vegetarian vegan or a meat eater. I've never had cause to complain in the 25years I've been eating here.

I have been to the Melksham Tandoori two or three times in the past but not recently - so when I visited this time my expectation wasn't too high. I was therefore pleasantly surprised by what I found. I visited with a couple of friends enroute to a local football game and we chose just main courses plus a side of Aloo Gobi. The service was very good and courteous and the menu extremely comprehensive. Prices were typical for Indian cuisine locally. Our meals were very nicely presented and prepared and tasty. Decor is somewhat tired and the owners might want to spruce the place up somewhat but otherwise no issues. Would go again and public car park adjacent is handy.

We had a takeaway this evening. Not eaten here for a while but good to see standards high as ever! Superb food, great taste with really good quality ingredients. I see they have a number of new dishes on the menu so we will certainly be back to try them! As others have commented definitely the best in the area and worth a visit!

Have frequented this restaurant for some 15 years, having lived in the Bath area. Now live in France and Cornwall and so hadn't been for a year. Superb dinner as always, several new additions to the menu. Very professional kitchen, cooking everything to order, and not freezer or pre packed food. Service from the polite staff second to none.

it was frist time to melksham tandoori. last friday i visited this place with my wife. we got table for 2. food was nice survice also nice but this place not enough clean the decoration very old. hopely come back again

Given the amount of competition for Indian food in the town all of the restaurants have to be at the top of their game. We prefer to use their delivery service as the seating area is a bit tired. Food is consistently good.

Tonight ordered a takeaway delivery and they told us 45 mins so an hour had gone by gave them a ring again they said sorry was ready just leaving 25 mins later rang back as we live 5 mins from the takeaway and they said it had left with another 4 we were last and it was cold so will not be reorder from there again avoid if u don't want cold food

Hadn't been to the restaurant in a while and is was great to be remembered and receive such a warm welcome. A new menu was available with some interesting new dishes along with the old favourites we had one of each and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. We will certainly be back if only for a takeaway which also has the new dishes!

My wife and I visited this restaurant on the 13/10/2016 we was warmly welcomed had a excellent meal and plenty of it the only thing was my wife wanted Lamb shank but when we ordered it was told they had not got any taking in mind that we got there early 6.15pm and they open at 6pm if we gone in later in the evening maybe understandable but never the less the food we did have was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant worth a visit.

I had my first ever Indian meal here about 13 years ago! And when I moved to Bristol for a few years, my husband and I would still drive over for a meal. Now we're back local, and often order takeaways due to our extending family. I brought my dad here last year as mum only likes Chinese, so now whenever we come or get a takeaway, we get him one too. Absolutely love this place

Visited with 4 friends. All had very good dishes. I had a lamb dish with chickpeas which was delicious. Not overly expensive but maybe lacking a little in atmosphere

very good shame kebab starter follow by an excellent korma & beef madras with lovely nanns .beer & wine good as well.

There were about 24 of us so not easy but the meals were served quickly and were excellent with great service.

Had a wonderful meal at the Melksham Tandoori. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. They have recently relaunched their menu and as well as the old favourites they have some excellent modern Indian dishes. This was not our first visit and certainly will not be our last. The food was delicious and extremely plentiful and overall it is excellent value.

Great staff, Great food, Great value. I highly recommend the new seafood curry which includes lobster, salmon, squid and scallop wonderful and such good value.

We have been going to Melksham Tandoori since it opened. The food is always lovely with some more unusual dishes not seen everywhere else. Their naan bread is a particular favourite along with the lemony Lebu chicken. The staff are always charming. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have been eating at this restaurant for many years - the dishes have always been very good and the recent menu changes do not disappoint. However, the proprietor Mr Miah and his staff have always gone out of their way to provide great service and a very friendly local atmosphere. The restaurant is small and family friendly, but it is better to eat earlier rather than later if with a young family, as the restaurant is very popular and can get busy later in the evening.

I have been to this restaurant a few times now, and always had a lovely meal. The latest meal was a late one at about 21:45 after a choir practice in the evening.I am sure it helps that I went with a local who is a regular customer.Nice food, very attentive service.One word of advice - book or inform them in advance if you intend to go there for an early Sunday lunch, so that they can fire up the oven in good time as it takes time heat up. Otherwise, be prepared not to have any Nan bread.A few of my fellow choir members have already planned to attend choir practices roughly once a month (the choir in Melksham is not one of our regular choirs) so that we can have a curry here afterwards.Keep up with the good work.

Melksham Tandoori have had 2 price increases recently, which means that I probably won't order take away again, such a shame as this is one of only 2 which delivers in my area, even if it did take an hour or longer sometimes... it's cheaper for me to collect from elsewhere. Wouldn't stop me eating in, although better value for money elsewhere. Can't complain about the delicious food, just disappointed at the significant price increase.

One of the better meals out in town have visited a few time now and its never failed to be impressed.its always good food with friendly staff on hand with a wide range of advice on the meals always nice to try something a bit different from time to time☺

We had a family funeral here and booked the restaurant for an afternoon 2-5 and the food was excellent. Catering for 26 people Very friendly staff and very helpful Recommended for a wake/party with a difference.

I am a bit disappointed, we've been going to the restaurant and having take aways for years and always enjoyed it, but I have noticed a decline in service & quality. We ordered a take away on New Years Eve, I am aware that everywhere will be busy and am prepared for a bit of a delay. when i ordered I was surprised the price had gone up by nearly £20 from a previous order, I did ask for a breakdown to be sent with the receipt but apparently that wasn't possible, however I decided to go ahead. After 1 1/2 I called them to find out where it was, i was told it was leaving then. When it arrived I found we had a veg korma instead of a lamb korma (I paid for lamb which is more expensive) I had been sent an extra meal (which I find I have paid for) and the King Prawn Korma didn't seem to have any recognisable King prawns just what I can only assume are crayfish tails, maybe I sound fussy but it cost nearly £100, shame because I really do like them but not impressed

This was our 3rd visit, food and service very good. Extensive menu. Very quiet last night but the weather was stormy. Also seemed to be doing lots of takeaways. Would thoroughly recommend.

Went for takeaway and decided to try the melksham tandoori after having heard a lot of positive news about it. Ordering was simple enough and prices seemed reasonable to me. Food was very good and the tikka masala was still hot when it got home. The rice could have been warmer but the peshwari naan made up for it because it was outstanding!!!All in all very good and very enjoyable.

Always get take always from here, always hot, on time and delicious. Delivery is free. Have eaten in once and service was very good.

The first time I ordered it took two hours to deliver. Tried for a second time and food arrived one and a half hours later and was cold. Still waiting for it to be sent again two and a half hours later. Will not be attempting a third order!

I use to live near the curry mile in Manchester, well known for amazing Indian cusine, the melksham tandoori can give them a run for their money. I have had food that's not even on the menu, but they are thinking of putting on. I feel that the staff are an extension of my family. I have been going since my girls were little. They are in their late twenties now, and I still love this little gem

What a busy restaurant. And rightly so, the food is great and service with a smile. There is not a tremendous amount o room but how much do you need when eating.

how disappointing.booked for 5 people on Monday night.Restaurant was slightly chilly and we had to wait ages for a drink and have our order taken.Food arrived in dribs and drabs,c/t masala sauce was stodgy,chicken korma had 4 prawns in it and the tikka and tandoori was piled all over the salad and plate looked a mess.The nan was light and delicious though.The two staff seemed to be working in a dream.Not impressed and shant be going again any time soon.To be fair they did knock off the price of the korma.Not busy so no excuse.

We chose to eat here as the details for this restaurant were in a 'recommended places to eat' file in our hotel room. We were not dissapointed at all. The food tasted amazing. The chef will happily spice up any meal to suit your tastebuds. The restaurant is obviously very popular with locals and has a busy takeaway side of the business as well. My only reason for not giving this restaurant a 5 star rating is because the restaurant decor is possibly a little bit tired and could do with an upgrade.

Not as good as it was. Food is ok but service is a bit slap dash. Lots of Indian restuarants to choose from , so needs to try a bit harder.

The food in here is always good. We have been coming here for over 20 years for takeaways and sometimes to sit in. The staff are always so friendly and very polite. Service is prompt. If you want a good curry come here!

Eaten here a few times and mainly had a good meal. I particularly liked the Lamb Lebu but last time tried another chef specialty (cant remember which) but it was fairly bland, thick and not very pleasant. Would eat here again but stick to what I know is good in the future

The place was very clean and the staff very friendly I had a king prawn corma with pillue rice and 2 chappatti cooked just how I liked it my hubby had chicken Tikal he said it was lovely would def rec this place

The food is always good and the staff are so helpful.Being within walking distance means we don't have to worry about having a drink with our meal.

I love this place staff are amazing and the food is great. They bend over backwards to make your night. I love to try any of the new dishes they are thinking of putting on the menu. Don't hesitate to ask them for something different they really do try to accommodate

Just brilliant from the minute we stepped through the door. Greeted by lovely waiters straight away who we're polite well dressed and professional. We ordered drinks quickly and poppadoms came very fast. Followed by our starters and main courses which we're all fantastic. The flavours of the food and the meat was incredible. Great portions just great everything. Will definitely be visiting again very very soon. Thank you!!!

A lovely, comfortable restaurant with attentive staff where nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding and in plentiful portions. I would certainly recommend the Sunday Buffet where you get to taste a variety of dishes you wouldn't normally try.

My family has been keen supporters of the Melksham Tandoori for some 5 years now. We have had many different dishes between us so we see a good range each time. From time to time there were little blips but nothing to worry about. The food has been great and the staff are very good.Unfortunately on the last 3 occasions the following dishes have been poor: lamb vindaloo (too sweet and tomatoey), lambdDhansak (too sweet and not sour). Other favourites e.g. chicken Makon have been under par as has the rice. This is beyond a blip and I did comment the first time and had the unsurprising comment that there was anew chef and they would sort it out. The second time was much the same. We have left it some 3 months since the last time and it is still the same unfortunately.I am sure others will stil find dishes that are very good but as most of our' regulars' are below par we shall be giving them a miss for a while.We are sad as the food was so good before.

We have been visiting this Indian for some years now.The staff and food is very good,and they are very helpfull at explaining the different dishes to customers.We can go months without going there, but no matter what they reconise us right away,witch is very nice.They now do a delivery service,which is good also

We went here on the first night of our visit to friends who live in Melksham....the food was superb....the poppadoms and pickles were served immediately,the Lamb Rogan Josh was the best I have ever had,the naan bread was perfect,the staff were friendly and attentive and the service was excellent.In fact we all enjoyed ourselves so much we just had to go back again two nights later and do it all again....I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough

It is quite simply the best Indian you will ever have. Unlike other Indians I have been to I've found that the naan is wonderful (the best ever made). I also like having all the sauces with my popadoms and when we run out the excellent waiters come and refill it for us. This is our regular Indian for a reason.

Having been away from England for more than 12 years it was amazing to go to the Tandoori and find it as excellent as.always.Good food and pleasant service. Notably the owners son shop was only a boy when we say visited was now running the place superbly in his father's absence.Thank you all for a lovely evening.

Simply the best Indian for miles. It is very rare to have a meal that's not quite perfect. In almost 30 years I have only had 2 that were not quite up to par, but they were not bad by any means.I have tried many restaurants in the area, but this is the only one I repeatedly go back to. If I had to fault it, then it's the fact it does not do home delivery

Came to the Melksham Tandoori on a Sunday to take advantage off the Sunday buffet offer. The restaurant is very conveniently located approx 30 meters from a large car park and very easy to find.Inside its very well decorated with a cosy feel. It's not the biggest restaurant so would think you would need to book on a Friday / Saturday night to guarantee a table.The food we had was very good. It was a serve yourself affair with a mixture of starters, sides and main courses which you could have as much as you like. We had a very nice chicken starter and then a good lamb curry for main course. Very good value considering the amount of food you get. Total bill for the buffet, two kingfishers and a coke was £28. Bargain considering amount of food you get. It's well worth a visit.

Came for my father in laws 60 birthday meal. We were treated with great respect , the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional and as we left the gave a free bottle as a preasent. I wish to thank them for their hospitality

I love love love this place, I live in Belgium & every time I come to visit my parents I make sure to spend an evening here! The environment is a little dull but the service is great and their always extremely welcoming. Their Achari Chicken is to die for! Can't wait to visit this place when I come back for the holidays.

The food was poor to average. We went in on a Tuesday evening at 7pm and the restuarant was empty. We started with popodams which clearly were from the previous night and warmed up (they tasted terrible and in the middle actually tasted burnt!) The main meal was passable but i would say the Chicken used was poor quality there were no large chicken piece like i have had at other local indians.We stayed until 9pm and on the way out - the owner actually said "next time don't take so long eating your meal" i was totally shocked at how rude someone can be to paying customers. It wasn't as if the restuarant was so busy we were stopping other people having a table.I will NEVER eat there again and would recommend that other people try the other local indians instead. This place has really gone down hill.... disappointing

Passing through Melksham town on a 3 hour drive we stumbled across this little restaurant and were very glad we did so. The food was really, really tasty and staff were polite and attentive. We will surely make a stop here for a tasty Indian should we find ourselves in Melksham again!

This is a fantastic little restaurant, with very friendly staff. We often use this for our takeaways and have had some wonderful sit down meals here as well. Ver well priced. Will happily continue to use this restaurant for years to come.

Me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant around 6 months ago and we will not be returning. Once seated we were ignored for around 20 minutes and after several attempts, eventually managed to flag down a waiter to take our order. The food was pretty quick and it was okay but I was given a dirty plate so that had to be sent back to get another one. We were also ignored throughout our meal despite obvious attempts to get the waiters attention for more drinks e.g. eye contact and putting our empty glasses on the edge of the table. We were only able to get more drink once we had finished our starters and the waiters came to clear the table. As previously mentioned, food was prompt but the quality was really nothing to rave about. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip.

I've been eating there for 18 years as a local and visitor with friends and family. Always great curry and service.
