Cafe India in Wiltshire

yesterday i ordered eggs rice rice was undercooked, naan was almost taste like chewgum , even lamb meat was undercooked kept chewing, and got stomachache after eating this all. This was my first order from cafe india terrible experience 😢

There was a delay in delivery, but this can be excused as the curry was delightful.

the order was 10 minutes or just over, but on saying that there was road works local to me. the delivery guy was polite and friendly.

3rd time on the trot, missing items.

Delicious food carefully prepared. Light and fresh atmosphere. Lovely service, will be coming again!

Normally this is the best Indian I’ve ever had but the vindaloo was really weird tasting today. It tasted really powdery…this was a delivery. such a shame but will try again before I give up as maybe it’s a different chef on a Sunday night.

Had a takeaway, it was ok. Definitely not the worst but the chicken tikka masala did taste a bit like tomato soup but saying that the seekh kebab and naan was good.

Perfectly timed delivery! Food was fantastic and the delivery guy was polite and friendly!

The Brinjal Bhaji wasn’t the best. Also the Shorshe Chingri was below expectations. Couldn’t taste the mustard and seemed like any other generic curry. The food was delivered fresh and hot though.

the food was fantastic the tandoori chicken was great. The meat plater was amazing the staff were lovely aspeshly the concussion girl with made me very surprised me because she was not Indian I loved the diversity it's cool. So over all best Indian restaurant in town.🥘🍲🥣🥗🍛🍽🍴🥄🔪😀😁😃😄😊🤗 love the tandory chicken. The Duke was a bit dry

Ordered a takeaway and the madras curry was water thin without any taste or spice and the onion bhaji were very greasy. Shame as it always used to be soo good in the past. Won’t be ordering from there again.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Chippenham! Always amazing for, food, service and hospitality. The king prawn and salmon dishes are a must if you like seafood. Have also brought guests, who equally agree, it is top quality. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The cafe was hosting a very loud hen party, as well as our 21-person evening out. Our main course arrived around 10 o'clock and was barely warm. To add insult to injury, the staff tried to overcharge me on the soft drinks that I had. If I had not been carrying someone else in my car, my wife and I would have left before the main course arrived even though I had paid for the meal in advance. Needless to say, I won't be going back. If a restaurant can not cater for two events simultaneously, then they shouldn't have taken the second booking.

The reason I've given this a 5 star all round is because from the service to the multicultural South Asian foods to the general atmosphere of the restaurant, everything isn't just good, it's excellent. There are extremely welcoming staff who will seat you quickly, a nice, traditional South Asian restaurant setting topped with the main thing that people come here for, the world class food. I ordered their tandoori chicken and some naan bread topped with garlic sauce, and absolutely everything was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would 100% come back here.

Lovely meal and piping hot on arrival.

Had our first Indian from here and will be returning for more. A decent portion with good quality ingredients. Tender chicken in the garlic chilli chicken and biryani had a lot of ingredients. Madras sauce had a perfect kick to it and naan was stuffed well. Very happy family.

Our order was as follows: 1 X Lamb Pasanda 9.45 1 X Chicken Tikka Masala 8.95 1 X Pilau Rice 2.95 1 X Bombay Aloo 3.95 1 X Mushroom Bhajee 3.95 1 X Tandoori Roti 1.95 Subtotal 31.20 Service charge 0.50 Total 31.70 Order was well passed delivery date, some 30 mins. Lamb and Chicken were tough as old boots, and we got spicy sauce coated chicken, instead of Plain from English menu? And to top the night, the whole order was stone cold! :(

Incredibly pleasant delivery driver incredibly delicious and hot - both temperature wise and to my requested taste. Every plate was empty. All food was eaten. A family-run business with loving Fatima always there to greet and say hello. Great menu, lots of choices and reasonably priced, its BYO as they do not have an alcohol license. We have been enjoying the food here for years and last night was no exception, very tasty vegetarian dishes with cashew and paneer, it was delicious we loved it. Such attentive service and great atmosphere. Thank you, Fatima and all the staff. We can highly recommend.

Food was hot and there was a good quantity. Delivery was on time and the delivery driver followed instructions not to knock, but wait while I came out to meet him (sleeping children). Second good delivery from this restaurant. I've also eaten in there before, and that was excellent, too.

Food excellent as always. But total disorganisation with seating when we arrived ? Panic seemed to have set in because of a big party booking? Disappointed with service when staff are trying to clear our table when some are still eating ?

We had family over and the food was lovely ! The salad was missing but my husband wasn’t overly worried ! And normally get mint yoghurt sauce with tikka but that wasn’t in the bag which was a bit disappointing but otherwise very good !

Cafe India is my favourite restaurant to get takeout curry,as usual my king prawn sagg was delicious with Pilau rice and poppadoms . Was delivered in time and was still hot. Very enjoyable

One main course was missing from our order. I rang and it arrived 20 mins later.

We hadn't booked so were glad to be offered a table - and poppadums to get us started. These arrived reasonably quickly but, after that, service was very slow. There were only a couple of tables occupied but all the effort seemed to go on the "take out" meals with which they were busy. And our waiter seemed unwilling (or unable) to hurry the chefs along to deal with their eat-in customers. Eventually, after about an hour those on the other table (who HAD booked) began to complain about the delays and only then did things start to speed up. The meal - when it arrived - was good but unless they do something about their processes it probably wasn't worth the wait.

The food was fantastic the service was excellent had a nice choice of food and the staff were friendly and did there best.

Food was ok, although they forgot the salad we ordered. Delivery was 30 minutes late, but the driver was apologetic

Had an excellent experience here. No drink licence so it's bring-your-own. Varied menu: I had lamb dhonia, my wife had chicken in mango sauce. All the favourite side dishes but we stuck with mushroom rice & sag aloo - and the Peshwari naan was superb. Friendly service - we were told our food was ready and asked if WE were ready. Will definitely go again.

Competition is high for the Indian cuisines in Chippenham, and this restaurant did not disappoint!! Greeted very professionally by the staff and a nice clear structured menu of traditional dishes. The decor is very nice! Chairs are incredibly comfortable and the food was very good! Portion size was perfect, marinated meats, nice flavoured sauces, very well cooked and I would definitely return! Great value for money!

Indian restaurant with extensive menu including specials for two or four people. Range of traditional favourites and chef’s specials that were really interesting. Food was not too spicy so you can taste the flavours. Good meat. Friendly and helpful staff, prices reasonable. Not licensed you can take your own beer and wine but not soft drinks.

Food was really nice! Ordered from here before and will 100% order from here again next time we have a curry. Recommend over other Chippenham Indian takeaways I have tried from past experience. Well done Cafe India!

Excellent food, great atmosphere & lovely staff. Non- licensed so BYO (bring your own) bottle/beer, an extra bonus! Gets very busy at times so perhaps book ahead on weekend nights

Ordered takeaway on 24/02/2022 took well over an hour to get to us, realised I was given the dry chicken tikka instead of the curry chicken tikka. Didnt care too much so just ate it as I was hungry and the next day I started showing symptoms of food poisoning and after 1 day I am 100% certain it is food poisoning. Stomach is in craps all the time, I can't keep anything down so I haven't eaten in over a day so far. -20/10 never eating here again

Ordered a takeaway …. and paid for it. All the main dishes arrived and were tasty but almost none of the paid for / optional accessories arrived like sauces, salads, chutneys arrived and the poppadums had been put through some sort of crushing machine and were crumbs. Other Chippenham Indian takeaways do rather better.

They reluctantly took our booking of 9/10 people for 6:30pm on a Saturday. Food was bang average for an Indian restaraunt, my rogan came out first but my pilau came out last, a good 5 mins after my rogan came out. Naans we’re bloody lovely however. On the whole I doubt I’d come again as they clearly struggled with bigger group, I get they’re busy on Saturdays with takeaways ect but why accept the booking then? The Raj just up the hill is far far superior in every way, trust me. On the whole average restaurant and there are better options in chippenham for better flavours.

I’ve been a regular customer for a couple of years now and this was, by way far the worst meal I’ve eaten from Cafe India. It was oily, tasteless and not enjoyable whatsoever. Very disappointed and I’m really debating whether to use you again in the future. Standards dropped

This is a family run restaurant that we’ve been coming to for several years. Even though we moved to Bristol 5 years ago, we always return here whenever we can. There is a warm welcome, great food and good advice whenever you’re unsure of what to order. The prices are very reasonable too and you can bring your own alcohol. It’s very clean and we’ve felt completely safe here even with all the restrictions Covid has necessitated. Thank you Radia and Ashraf.
