Mei Xin Hins in Mid Sussex

Sadly prices for takeout have doubled which is what you would expect from the aftermath of the pandemic, however the portion sizes have also now halved. Sadly will have to buy elsewhere now even though I’ve been coming here for over 10 years :’( Chinese is good though!

I wrote a review about eating in their restaurant a while ago. This is about their delivery service. We have had so many deliveries over the past years and as you can see it looks delicious and excellent portions. They have never got our order wrong and it has always arrived hot. They give you an approximate delivery time and they have never been late. Anything battered still arrives perfectly crispy and not too greasy. The ribs are tender and with a great sauce. Mei Xin Hins is in our opinion still the best Chinese food we have ever had. That is why we avoid disappointment trying anywhere else!

We'd used these for a long time and wanted a valentines Day takeaway. Unfortunately they completely missed out our rice, and when we called them did not offer to send any out (even at cost) or even apologise. Real shame as the food here is always delicious, but we won't be ordering again after this and will definitely recommend others don't either.

We’ve been getting takeaway from Hins for many years and the food is very good. However this evening we ordered a valentines meal to find that two portions of rice that were ordered were not in the delivery. We called straight away to let them know and ask for it to be sent out, the person on the phone told my partner he never ordered the rice (I was in the room when he ordered and heard him order) and they refused to send any more out leaving us with only half a meal. Completely put us off after being fairly regular customers for years - would advise others to avoid

The food was very nice and hot,The service was quick and the waitress were very polite I would recommend this restaurant

I live opposite the Chinese. I regularly get the set meal A which is chicken in black bean, rice and sweet and sour balls for one. This is £10.50 always consistent. Unbelievable value. Also have eaten in before and had no issues at all. Staff are pleasant aswell. Still beat Chinese in Burgess Hill.

The best Chinese food ever. Birthday treat. Been eating there for over 22 years now. Never disappoints. Reasonably priced and the buffet nights are great value and quality Thank you.

we went tonight after booking a table for 8.00pm. the service was appalling, we were the only table in with take aways being ordered. There was only 1 member of staff serving and was clearly overworked by the amount of calls which sounded like take away orders being chased as they were not being ready. People were coming in for take aways that sounded like were over 50 mins late and not delivered . the phone did not stop ringing therefore we were waiting for over 45 mins to place our main courses order, we gave up in the end and left after the starters and duck and then was given a bill for £77 which we pointed out was clearly wrong, take away orders were given free drinks and when we pointed this out we were offered nothing. the service is non existent for the prices they charge. avoid going here at all costs ,order a takeaway and get free drinks though (it would seem)

I travel all the way from Crawley to get the best and most reasonable Chinese in the area! I have tried all the chineses in Crawley and none are even close… and for such a reasonable price, even with the fuel it’s cheaper than eating in Crawley!!! The service is superb, and they are SO patient with us and our constant ordering hahaha!

The food was acceptable. The service was terrible. Drinks took 40 minutes to arrive. We had the buffet menu and left one rib as part of the starter, the manager came and asked why we had not finished it and wanted to charge extra. When the bill came we were charged for 7 people and there were only 5 and the duck course we did not have. And service that we did not receive. The manager argued and tried saying there were seven of us. Worst experience eating out and our three children very upset.

Been here many times before and always enjoyed the experience. This visit was different. The food is so nice, just what you want and expect, but that’s where the positives end. We arrived, we’re seated and the standard prawn crackers were provided. Then we were left without a menu or the offer of drinks for about 10 minutes (there was only 1 other table of customers occupied at this time) until we went over and asked ourselves. The food & wine arrived (no offer of chopsticks) and was really good but was ruined by a member of staff arriving with a McDonalds takeaway (picture attached) and proceeding to eat it at a table behind us (the mixture of Chinese and McDonalds smells doesn’t work). Food great, no atmosphere and very amateurish service. Used to be so much better.

Although rather chaotic on New Years Eve the food was really good. Our waitress did really well even though she was under a lot of pressure. Will definitely go back.

I found that the food was excellent, a little overpriced but good, wanted to leave a tip but unfortunately found out that they keep the tips for themselves and not the staff who work I found this very unacceptable and wrong for the poor waitress that works so hard all night(THIS SHOULD CHANGE)

Ordered some starters on NYE , took over an hour , but some people had apparently been waiting 3 hours for their meals , when I got it Food was disgusting and threw it in bin , would not order from here again

Still sat waiting for an 8.30 collection , such a shame as want to support them and good good but an absolute shambles tonight .. they needed to stop taking orders when they could cope , lots of unhappy dine in & take out . I hope it doesn’t put people off in the future but we will not be ordering for NYE again . Offer of a free drink really doesn’t cut it when sat waiting for 1.5 hours after it should have been ready

Dropped in on a Saturday evening with the intention of getting a takeaway, surprisingly the restaurant only had 1 other table in so we decided to dine in instead.Food quality was average, nothing groundbreaking.Significantly more expensive than the takeaway menu, you'd expect to pay a bit more to eat in. Anyway, with a few drinks and service our bill wasn't unbearable, but probably a bit more than initially planned to spend.Waitress was really friendly and dishes arrived quickly.

We have been going to Mei Xin Hins since it opened many years ago. It is still the best food ever. Recently due to birthdays and other celebrations we seem to be there a lot!The service , quality of food and price is amazing. Their take away delivery service is equally fantastic. We are so happy that the restaurant survived lockdown. It is top of of favourite places to eat.

The food is always super fresh and their online ordering system is really easy to use. I’ve ordered from here numerous time for collection and delivery and they are always prompt and the food is always consistently good and really tasty. Will always use them!

Ordered a duck and they forgot the hoisin sauce and spring onions and cucumber and seaweed stone cold had to wait for redelivery where duck got cold. Terrible service avoid at all costs .

This is the second time we have ordered a delivery takeaway order - which is accepted advising of a delivery time. Yet again, we have waited over the expected time only to contact them and be advised that they are too busy, haven’t started the order and would I go and collect! Needless to say that I cancelled! If only they would advise customers when they cannot fulfil orders - rather than accept them - at least you have a choice. Thank you Mei Xin Hins for ruining yet another Saturday night.

We ordered a delivery ar 5.55 p.m i thought i would get in early on a busy Saturday night, which they said would be half an hour to an hour. At 7.15 I called as it hadn't arrived and they told me they said it was 1- 1.5 hours. An hour and 45 minutes after I ordered they called and told me they hadn't got any chicken balls left that I ordered and could they give me prawn balls instead. The food eventually arrived at 8.20 so even if they didn't originally say 1-1.5 hours they were still almost an hour later than the longest time they quoted. 2 hours and 25 minutes from order to delivery. How to totally screw up someone's plans on a Saturday night! Disgusting way to operate. Never again

Took 2.5 hours from order from delivery. Food was awful should be avoided at all costs. Utter rubbish and ruined our evening - don’t let them ruin yours. Greedy.

All in all it was good the eat as much buffet is a good idea.Starters were bought quickly not sure about the prawns looked like they something Iceland would sell !We had 2 main dishes and some rich, you gotta nr hungry when going to a buffet ! We didn’t take full advantage

...... slightly spoilt by the chaos of New Year's Eve.It appeared that tables had been "overbooked" in so far as sufficient time was not allowed for the "earlier diners" to complete their meal before the next sitting arrived. When we arrived, there were nearly 10 people waiting to be seated, but only a table for 2 available. We got to our table 15 mins late.To add to the problem, 'take aways" were still being ordered and collected and this coupled with insufficient staff, led to delays in all areas, clearing and setting tables, seating customers, taking orders, serving meals (accurately) and delivering meals to the waiting "take awayers."For such a special event as NYE, it would be nice if "take aways" were not served, allowing staff to focus on those in the restaurant for their special meal.The food as aways was delicious, but not all plates arrived at the same time, and parts were missing, eg, no pancakes or hosin, just the duck!

We decided to pick up a takeaway on our way home from the station. It was early Saturday evening and we expected a wait - the staff said 30 to 45 minutes, which was no problem - there's a pub across the road! The small restaurant was busy.An hour or so passed and we'd heard nothing so headed back over and waited about a further 15 minutes.The staff were pleasant throughout and apologetic, they even gave us a free bottle of wine!The food was great, we've recently relocated so looking for a new Chinese takeaway of choice. Beef and Mushroom is my favourite and the one I had from here was perfect. Some of the portions felt a bit smaller than other Chinese places, however the quality made up for this.

The food was excellent, arrived hot and although a set menu for two there was enough for 3 to 4. Really good value for money.

We went for the buffet. The food was very good and freshly made. The service was friendly and polite. It was a very positive experience.

If you want a take away the food is great but if you eat in the service is dreadful, food and drinks take forever to arrive, often you are left waiting as new guests are served first. Very disappointing and we ended up else where after 1 course

Great for a friday night takeaway. However if your eat in the service is very slow. Staff ignore you. Better places to go

I visited with my son and we ordered crispy duck to start and sweet and sour chicken with special rice and Sichuan chicken with mushroom rice. Two diet cokes altogether brought the total cost to £48 way more than I would pay at my local restaurant in Cambridge for a similar quality meal. My point is that if you order more dishes the cost is the same so be sure you are really hungry when you go.

10th July 2019, evening dinner. Fantastic flavoured food, huge choice, great portions. This is a super restaurant, my first time - but I will return often. Great value and such lovely, warm friendly staff, very attentive- I could not ask for better. Thank you, we will return. Kind regards, Santi

It has been a while since I have used Mei Hins as a take away but as the Emperor is now closed I was left with very few options. Have to say I was extremely disappointed with the food rice was stodgy & the Kung Poo Chicken was bland. The staff were pleasant & the meal was ready on time so it got a poor review rather than a terrible one but won't be returning anytime soon

We decided to visit this restaurant after wanting to find a good Chinese for a while and after reading so many positive reviews gave it a go. The service is friendly and excellent and the decor is absolutely fine too. The prawn crackers arrived the minute we sat down as did our drinks once ordered. The starter was lovely and we both commented on the freshness and home-made quality of the starters. I ordered sweet and sour pork and my husband ordered shredded chilli chicken. To be completely honest we could not tell which was which, they both looked the same and practically tasted the same which was a pity. The egg fried rice was lovely and the singapore rice noodles that were supposed to come with a kick to them were bland. The food was okay, nothing to rave about, but if one's aim was to get some Chinese in them and leave it at that, this restaurant would tick your boxes if you were looking for an amazing chinese I would not say this is it, but the service is excellent and the staff were very friendly. Out of all our recent experiences of Chinese restaurants this is one of the better ones!

It’s always a gamble using a takeaway restaurant you’ve never used before so I was a little anxious trying the Mei Xin Hins. However, I need not have worried. We ordered the food by phone and was told it would be 45 minutes - actually arrived in 30 minutes. When it arrived, the food was hot, fresh and delicious, and we even ordered a dish that was not on the menu! We were so impressed that this will now become our Chinese restaurant of choice in Burgess Hill now. On top of it all the staff were very polite and helpful.

I came down with my family to Brighton for the weekend and we were trying to find a restaurant near the hotel, and this restaurant was brilliant. The flavours of the food were really good, and the buffet is 100% worth its value. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a Chinese buffet and nice night out with family.

visited Meixin Hins for family meals wow! Food was hot tasty, salt pepper king prawns, crispy Beef. all you can eat! And all foods were so delicious ! My children do not normally eat Chinese but they really enjoyed and ate a lot! Services are great too! Thank you and keep up! Highly recommended, Definitely come back!

Food was cold, stale. Looks liked it was warmed up from yesterday. Had to eat a subway cookie instead

We went there for a family birthday and were really happy with the food. It was some of the nicest Chinese we have had. We started with the crispy duck which was really crispy and delicious. Then we had a whole lot of different dishes all of which were hot and fresh tasting. It was very good value too.

Traveled from Brighton for Chinese buffet.Small restaurant but worth the trip. (Probably need to book).Friendly welcome, nice young man waiter service.Comfortable atmosphere & clean. Good choice of dishes cooked well. Fixed price menu, desserts extra, but still value for money. Would recommend & intend to revisit.

We have just returned from our first visit to Mei Xin Hins and will definitely return.

Looking at previous reviews I am wondering if they went to a different restaurant to me? I have been to quite a few Chinese restaurants and this one has great food. I understand that it has changed hands very recently so maybe the other reviews are when it was under the management of its previous owners. I went with a group of about 12 or so others and we ordered a variety of starters to share among us. We then had the crispy duck pancakes and then ordered individual main courses with added bowls of various types of rice and chow mein to be shared by the whole group. The food was of excellent quality and also just as importantly was hot (so many don't get that right, there's nothing worse than being served food that has gone cold) and there was plenty of it. The whole bill including a service charge came out at a very reasonable £20 per head. Not just good food, but exceptionally good value too. I shall definitely be returning here for more food one day and recommend anyone who loves traditionally cooked Chinese food to sample the food served here.

If you want to wait an hour and a half for food that you haven't ordered then this is the place for you!

Stopped by here on our way out of the area a few evenings ago.

After ordering from Hins for several weeks and putting up with slack delivery times we ended up waiting for well over 2 hours last week and since we had already paid online we had luke warm food by the time it arrived.

This small restaurant is sited in the top end of the town.

My partner and I decided to pay Mei Xin Hins an impromptu visit one evening last week as I was craving a Chinese having been so badly disappointed by our former favourite Chinese takeaway.

It seems there are a few teething problems due to the handover to new owners. Some items on the menu weren't available and an advertised payment card was not accepted.

Good food well presented by friendly, helpful and attentive people. Pleasantly surprised by the food and service - do not let the premises put you off - slightly dated.

A group of 6 of us visited here early Saturday evening. Since my last visit some years ago the management has changed, and boy... so has the decor, furniture, atmosphere and size of the dining area! What used to be a borderline 'plush' restaurant is now drab, dull, tired and not welcoming.

My friend and I went for an evening meal. We decided not to go for the buffet or set meal options, but just have the a la carte menu. Staff very attentive and food was hot and tasty. We ordered the crispy duck and chicken with a black bean sauce. Lovely selection of different cold deserts. Will definitely return.

Had the menu for 2 and we both really enjoyed the food. We are not takeaway fans but we will definitely go back...

Very pleased with the telephone service, even though their computer had gone down. Food arrived much quicker than expected, all correct and large portions. Very enjoyable and filling. Ticked all the boxes and some for the dogs.

Stoped by here on a cycling holiday, lovely restaurant. The food is fresh and well presented. Great service by friendly and hospitable front of house, highly recommended.

I reviewed this restaurant a year or so ago after having a very mediocre experience here. Well what a difference new management has made. The restaurant has been updated, it is bright and fresh looking and the food is excellent. Our waitress was also very good and worked extremely hard, especially as she was on her own and trying to do everything. If you ate here before and didn't have a good time, give it another go because a lick of paint, some decent service and good food have made all the difference to the whole experience. Well done to the new management for bringing this once successful business back up to scratch.

Welcoming and open comfortable restaurant. Better than what old management had set up and with a large group of diners felt we were catered for very well and overall food was good and nothing too much trouble. So we will look forward to coming again !

I have used Mei Xin Hins on several occasions for takeaways, the food is always tasty and well prepared, and the portion sizes are very good. Slightly on the expensive side but the food is delivered very quickly.

Best Chinese food in Burgess hill been a customer recently, friendly staff, very tasty food and good value for buffet!

This was our third disappointing Chinese in the area. Why is the food so full of sugar? Chinese restaurants have to reduce it just like all the other cheap eats.

Went here a few weeks ago with friends had a lovely meal service was brilliant staff very friendly and helpful. Will go back very soon.

Total rubbish, very small portions of poor food. Service charge will be added, what service? Should have walked out as soon as the menu arrived, wish I had put my £50.00 in a charity box and gone for tea and biscuits at home.

Absolute nightmare. Took a family relative out for their birthday. We had already travelled 60 miles in doing so. Starter came after 45 minutes and half of it was missing. We waited a further 45 minutes for our duck and gave up. Other customers clearly unhappy. If you have customers in the restaurant, maybe spend less time of the phone taking takeaway orders!!!

Great food but the restaurant needs a little updating and some heating. The paper table cloths are not very inviting and the seating area for the people waiting for their take away orders is tatty. The food is very tasty but the cost of the...

Reservamos una mesa para 7 personas, debido a una enfermedad no podía asistir dos. Fue un buen trabajo no! La mesa era tan pequeña incluso para cinco que era agobiante. Pedimos entrantes que eran realmente buenos, así que pedimos más, ser honesto y sabían muy bien, pero me pareció el segundo montón de comida era simplemente tirado en el plato! También intentamos tomar pato crujiente con tres veces y nunca me la dieron.

Toda la familia fuimos al buffet chino el sábado por la noche y la comida fantástica, especialmente teniendo en cuenta la época en la que fuimos y la cantidad de comida que nos dieron. Todas las cosas de caliente y sabroso lo recomiendo. No la mejor decoración, pero la comida te hace olvidar que!

Vine aquí para una cena con la familia. Elegimos la opción de buffet que estaba bien de precio en 15 libras. 95 por cabeza. El tamaño de las porciones bien y el servicio es correcto. Nos tomó unos 20 minutos después de que llegara a ser ofrecieron una bebida. La comida era buena, especialmente el pollo, sin embargo el pescado chili fue un poco decepcionante. Calamar fue hecha y un poco malos y probado congelados, pero por lo demás la comida era buena. En general, buena relación calidad-precio si después de todo lo que pueda comer!

Celebramos un cumpleaños familiar en este restaurante en la calle. Día de San Patricio. Hemos comido aquí y pedimos para llevar. Siempre ha considerado este restaurante como uno de los mejores, pero en esta ocasión nos decepcionó. Las camareras eran tan atento y educado como siempre, pero el tiempo de espera entre platos era muy lento y la comida no era genial. Todos teníamos el desayuno a un precio fijo, 15 libras. 95 cada uno y estaba impresionada de ver en la factura más de £1. Se añadieron 99 cada uno para pedir el pato crujiente con especias, para ser sincero, estaba en el menú, pero no nos habíamos dado cuenta como extra. A menudo ir a otro restaurante chino en Hove y el pato está incluido en el precio del buffet. Cuando pedimos la principal el arroz y fideos llegamos bastante tiempo después el curry platos de arroz, así que cuando llegamos tuvimos nada para comer. En esta ocasión fue una pena que el restaurante no estaba a la altura de su alto nivel de calidad habitual.

El buffet con 8 amigos. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Todo estaba bien preparado. El servicio un poco lento, pero han de tener en cuenta que éramos 8. Así eran algunas cosas olvidadas, pero cuando señaló, este fue corregido. Era el cumpleaños de uno de nosotros y ofrecer prueba, te dan tu comida gratis. Sin duda volvería.

Hemos estado recibiendo las entregas desde aquí durante bastante tiempo ahora y a pesar de que comenzó muy bien, el nivel está bajando. Hemos probado la mayoría de las cosas pero ahora evitar que es bastante pollo (restrictiva) y que cosas que es barato blandos como papel mojado eliminando. Especial arroz frito y tallarines de Singapur tienen ahora mucho menos bits y piezas en ellos de lo que solía. Las porciones son de un buen tamaño y entrega siempre es rápido.

Nos fuimos a este restaurante por primera vez anoche, y tenía todo lo que puedas comer por 13 libras. 95, me recomendaron este restaurante por un amigo, quien dijo que cocinar la comida buffet a la orden, y no tuvimos varios campos, y la comida era espléndida, y muy caliente. El personal era encantador. Recomiendo encarecidamente, volveremos, con mi asistente perro escuchar la próxima vez, si en su día de cumpleaños, con ID tienes la comida de cumpleaños gratis.

We ordered over the phone and paid by card. Guy turned up and said that I still needed to pay. I explained I already had and he phoned the restaurant and they said I definitely hadn't paid. Guy had to take the food back to the restaurant. 20 minutes later he came back saying we had paid but it was the same food - not impressed but by this point I was tired of talking to people had no clue what was going on. The food was okay until we found a STAPLE in of our dishes. Completely unacceptable. I will not be ordering from here again.

Staff are very friendly food is superb also contains no msg. We come from Henfield best Chinese for miles outstanding!

Went here for a birthday meal and was nicely surprised when I read that my meal would be free as it was my birthday. We opted for the buffet where you can order what you want from an extensive menu and I have to say all of it was lovely and tasty. Service was a little slow, but it was a Saturday night and they had a big party in. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

This used to be such lovely food. Service still really good but the food is really poor. Gloopy sauces , fatty badly cooked meat. Will not go back.

My friends and I enjoyed every dishes we ordered. From the appetizers, second course, main course and service are all fantastic!

I didn't expect that I could have such a good experience in this restaurant. Eating here after visiting Brighton made my day. The dishes were fantastic, the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was super nice as well. The table sitting besides us started singing after dinner. I like this happy experience !

Last night had the worst chinese I have ever had. Ordered a prawn curry to find it had 4 prawns & loads of vegetables. When the waiter served this dish most of the sauce ended up on the tablecloth. When the waiter had finished serving he walked away & was content to leave the table flooded. When I called him back all he did was dump aload of paper napkins on the table for us to clear up. It was probably the most expensive chinese I've at £28 for 2 main courses - about £3.50 a prawn. Wont be going there again

Due to my local takeaway going down hill I decide to give here ago. The food was amazing. It's a little more expensive than what Id usually pay for a Chinese but your paying for good quality food. The portions are huge. I was told delivery would take 45mins and it came in 30.

I took my family here for a celebratory meal, the staff were very welcoming. The first drink order wasn't what we ordered, but no big deal, we got on with it. We ordered the starters, again some items were missing and some were wrong, again we accepted, the food was fine. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we still had not even been served the remaining started we had ordered, duck, let alone even ordered mains. We spoke to the people on the table next to us, they had been there over two hours and still not had their main courses. I went up to ask if we could settle the bill and leave, the lady promised it would be out in 5 minutes. I made the point that we hadn't even ordered mains yet despite asking to half an hour earlier. 10 minutes later the duck came out, then the mains, again the order wasn't right. Many other people in the restaurant had the same problems and were complaining. We were offered a free drink each but the bill came to £85 for four of us having the £14 per head buffet - the two drinks we had each were very expensive! No discount offered and service charge automatically added. The gents toilets were out of order and the ladies a mess. Will never go back as it ruined our celebratory night.

We've eaten in the restaurant a few times, but not for a while. Tonight we had a takeaway. Very mixed. Starters: the chicken satay was lovely, spring rolls mediocre and the tempura vegetables dreadful. Main course of beef teriyaki was really nice. The sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style OK. The grilled chicken Peking had a nice flavour, but we hadn't expected it to be covered in a breadcrumb coating. Very expensive for an overall mediocre meal.

We went for a girly evening and we thought the food was excellent! Definitely will be going again! Only criticism is that the chairs are uncomfortable!

I have just tried this place for about the fourth time since moving to the area. First time - great food and I decided that this would be my regular. Second time - regrettably average as I had raved to friends about my first experience so they were disappointed too. Third time - really good so i put the last experience down to an off day for the chef. Today - absolutely full of salt and completely inedible. I will not be taking the gamble again.

I wanted real mainland Chinese food and was very pleased to find that Hins had plenty of recipes that were not Cantonese sweet and sour. The Dumplings were of a generous size and very tasty, the Szechuan pork was also good, though it isn't as spicy as I would like due to English palates not liking it too spicy. Next time I will ask for more spice. The Chinese cabbage was nicely cooked and had a good crispness about it.Being a Wednesday in early January it wasn't overly busy and the service was excellent with the waiter having time to talk about different areas in China and the foods of the areas.The restaurant itself is a reasonable size and nicely decorated and very clean.Prices were reasonable, and I will definitely being going back for more

3 of us went to the Mei Xin Hins for a birthday meal, we went early as my son had to travel home that evening and we were the only table in there, so the waitress was giving us all the attention but not in your face (cant comment on service if busy) the take away was busy, lots a customers calling in for meals.They got the serving times spot on and didn't rush us and the food was good and the portions sizes good. (they even put the left over meat dish into a take away box)i would recommend this restaurant.

This used to be a great place to eat with lovely food and friendly service - sadly it is no longer! Quick summary of the issues :-No sweet chilli with the prawn crackers.Only 3 satay skewers in a portion when used to be 5.Brought finger bowl out after clearing mixed starter platter away - too late.Brought hot dinner plates to the table but by the time the food arrived they were cold - we were the only people in so no excuse."Fillet" steak was some kind of mangy, chewy sirloin with gristle & fat - this was strongly denied by the waiter but chats with some friends who also had the same experience on their visits appear to show this is the norm and they know it is not fillet. £9.90 per dish I expect fillet!Did not correctly prepare the prawns - did not remove the "poop chute"Reviews are subjective of course but as this restaurant used to be #1 in Burgess Hill and is now #22 you can draw your own conclusions.

It was my first time came to Hin's with friends to enjoy a Saturday dinner. We thought that would be a normal night before tasting their food, cos I haven't been surprised by any of Chinese restaurants I went before, especially the really bad and unforgettable "surprise" ones. Hin's, I have to say they offer super stunning food, not as oily as other Chinese restaurants, plus all dishes without "MSG".The service was good, very kind and attentive, although they were busy with takeaways. Hin's, a high recommended Chinese restaurant. It's my"good surprise" ever!

Starting on a positive the service was attentive and very good but food wise we were left feeling disappointed. The lamb was very fatty, hard to find any meat. The Singapore noodles tasted as if they had burnt in the pan. The sizzling seafood was sickly sweet and in soggy batter for some reason?We have eaten here in the past and have always enjoyed the food >WE can only agree with previous review that it 'used to be good' Such a shame.

Came across this restaurant whilst searching for a gluten free choice....great find...tasty food, always very good.Take away delivery times can be disappointing but overall service and food are good.

I had my 21 year old birthday party at Hins last two weeks. I received a birthday gift from Hins as they knew it was a birthday party. It made my birthday party more memorable and I do appreciate it as they really did prepare something for the birthday one. They do provide excellent and considerate customer service, very kind-hearted indeed. I had a very good day indeed, at Hins.

My husband and I (I sound like the queen!) have been going to this restaurant for 20 years. Whilst the managers/owners have changed the food has been pretty consistent. In a good way. We order a take away to be delivered which is relatively new in our area and i mention this incase it's relevant to the quality of the food. The food came in 40 mins as they said it would but was so tasteless neither of us could eat more than a couple of mouthfuls. The rice was grey and the noodles tasted of fat. The duck looked more like pork and one of the dishes was not what we ordered. It literally looked liked they had scraped the left overs into take away boxes. We ordered it whilst watching Soccer Aid and felt sick on many levels as we wished we'd saved our money in order to make a bigger donation to Unicef instead. Won't be going back.

I've visited Mei Xin Hins on a number of occasions over the years and have yet to encounter a bad meal or dining experience. Service is always very friendly and I'm always made to feel like a welcomed and highly valued customer. The food is especially delicious and avoids the oily, greasy tastes of most wannabe Chinese restaurants I've come across. They have a surprisingly extensive menu with some of the best mussels (oddly) I've ever had. They don't scrimp on portions and offer what I find to be very reasonable value for money. They play traditional Chinese music but like any of these places, the atmosphere is what you choose to make it. It's with great service and food that I keep looking forward to my next visit.
