Mehdi in Surrey Heath

The staff were attentive to start with with taking drinks and asking if we wanted popadoms. Never had ketchup with chilli flakes mixed in as an accomplishment before I must say! We were part of a big group of 13 and my main of a prawn dhansak was served first. 5 minutes later I was given my naan, another 10 minutes later after everyone else on the table had been given their main, I finally got my pilau rice and I could eat. Waiting 15minutes meant my main dish got cold ❄️ Dhansak is a hot, sweet and sour dish with its main ingredient of lentils. There was only a mere handful in mine :-( my partner ordered the banana rice to try, the rice arrived with no banana, only almonds :-( it was returned still with almonds with some banana chips. It was obvious they had just added those to the rice he returned as it came back with almonds still - good job he has no nut allergy! My biggest bug bear and I still cannot understand for the life of me why it was left for 1 x waiter to serve 13x main dishes when there were was another waiter who disappeared and a front of house bar manager? Food was cold, not up to standard and frankly glad I didn't spend a fortune in there. Oh yes, there was a £37 service charge whacked on at the end, which is not detailed ANYWHERE in the menu. I'd never come back again, very disappointed:-(

I had a rare takeaway from Medhi after not using them for probably a couple of years. Although the food was fine the portion sizes have shrunk considerably. The Lamb rezellah was in a typical takeaway plastic tray but I would guess about ½ to 2/3 full. I also ordered a Mehdi platter which as it is a defined number of pieces cannot easily 'shrink!' The staff were pleasant and the ordering and collection process fine but I will not be re ordering.

We had not been to this restaurant for many years, but remembered it as being good when it first opened. We had prebooked but visited on a quiet evening so it might have been OK as a walk-in. Our meals were tasty, served with a minimum of fuss and very enjoyable. We shall return if we are passing that way again.

Really lovely meal on Christmas Eve. Great welcome and that carried on with the service. I’ve been to places with broader menus but rarely with better food. Dishes were served hot and pretty quickly. Hot towels after the meal and no pressure to leave after we had eaten. A terrific experience all round and highly recommended.

This is our go to restaurant, and another lovely meal. Lamb is so tender and full of flavour. Very friendly and very welcoming.

We went to mehdi to celebrate my sons GCSE results I'll keep this review simple. The food is amazing. I can't wait to go back.

I havent been back a while as we'd had a not great meal back in January so with some trepidation I ordered a meal for 6 saturday night. It was ready bang on time and so piping hot we were able to eat the starters with the food just resting on the side. Everything tasted fresh and was absolutely scrummy. No afters sadly for me next day despite generous portions and I can honestly say they are back in the game. I cant remember having had a better curry experience!

Location of restaurant was a little off putting but once inside found a warm welcome. Food was nice but for all in our party nothing was great just OK. It must also be noted the portions were quite small. This has been on my list of lacklustre restaurants to visit but I do not think we would return, as I experienced much better Indians closer to home. Like I said food was Okay just not great

On Monday I visited the Mehdi as part of a large group of 26 people for our annual Christmas Curry. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and instantly offered a drink. Within 5 minutes all 26 of us had a drink and poppadoms were on the table. For a large group, you would expect a wrong order or a missing naan. No. Everything was spot on, everything piping hot and most importantly delicious. Every single one of us enjoyed our meals and couldn’t recommend the Mehdi enough. Will definitely be returning!

Ordered the special chicken biryani, the rice was over cooked no flavour and the curry that came with it was a liquid? It was definitely not was described in the menu. I just binned it was definitely not to the standard of previous takeaways. I should have taken it back.

We booked at table at 17.00 on Saturday afternoon to eat at 20.00. When we arrived we were offered a table right in side the door way which looked like it may have at one time been the waiting area for take a way customers. It was a spur of the moment decision to go out last night. With all the current restrictions in place I quickly googled a few of my favourites to see if they had any specific information about whether they were open and how things might be different. I couldn't find details on most other places but I came across a review on Tripadvisor from the day before. It was a pretty childish review from someone out to take advantage of the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. The owners reply immediately caught my attention and I rang up to book. We were at the restaurant 10 minutes later.The restaurant has implemented several C19 measures including some outdoor seating and more space inside. When we arrived we were directed to a point outside where we were greeted. Our details were confirmed, we had our temperatures taken and given hand sanitiser. We were then directed to our table which was outside. Restaurant staff wore face shields.We soon had drinks ordered along with menus. The menu was full of dishes, many of which I haven't tried before. Each one has a brief description to help choose. For those that are more comfortable with dishes that have names they recognise, there are the usual bhuna, madras, tikka masala etc on the rear.The owner came over to take our order and I explained that the previous entry on Tripadvisor had encouraged me to eat in his restaurant. He asked whether we had already decided what to eat and what our tastes were. He then directed us to a few dishes and explained what aromas and flavours come through. He definitely knew a lot about his menu and was passionate about helping people choose something they would enjoy. I chose the Momtaz Roll and Lamb Rajastan (pictured). My daughter chose the Chicken Pakora and Lamb Makhani (pictured). I was asked whether I would like some extra green chilli. The green chilli really brought Momtaz Roll alive and also really enhanced the Lamb Rajastan.The flavours of all the dishes were spot on. Everyone enjoyed their food and my wife enjoyed the New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. It is rare for her to find wine she really enjoys so this was a real bonus.We dined really early and were among the first to arrive. The restaurant quickly filled up and being outside we were also able to see that many people were ordering takeaways. This is a really popular restaurant and having experienced the quality of the food, wine and service I can understand why. We will definitely be back again really soon

Visited this Resturant and owner agreed to a discount on the cost of the meal at time of ordering, when the bill arrived he retracted the offer and said only the first £10 was included. Very rude service and no customer service. Food was acceptable but Amish in Chobham is far better.

At the beginning of the meal we asked about the discount regarding the Eat out to Help out scheme. The manager told us that he was taking 50% off of our whole bill. When it came to asking for our bill we were surprised when we weren’t given our promised 50% discount. When we asked the manager about this, he didn’t let me even say anything before he started shouting at us telling us he didn’t say it. Conveniently the restaurant was more busy at this time and didn’t like us mentioning what he promised us at the beginning in front of other customers. We were polite when asking as we all work in hospitality ourselves. We didn’t want any hassle so we just paid our bill. When we paid we were not offered receipts so then asked for them. the manager spoke to us with such attitude and aggression. I have never been spoken to like it by anyone, let alone a manager in my life. we watched him stop a child on her way to the toilet and was very much speaking down to her telling her how to use the toilet (in regards to COVID-19) requiring her to clean to toilet at no more than 8 years old which was very contradicting as none of the staff were wearing masks or gloves or following distancing rules. I do have a video of how we were spoken to and it is very clear in this video that no social distancing measures were being respected by the manager. He told us to leave the restaurant and ‘sit and wait’ for him. He put up camping chairs away from the restaurant to sit on. he very aggressively slammed the chairs on the floor and pointed at us then at the chairs and said to us ‘sit’ as if we were dogs. He was so aggressive, he would point in our faces. On our way back to the car, a man stopped us after overhearing our conversation with the manager and explained how he was overcharged about a week ago by the manager also, prior to the Eat out to Help our scheme.

We recently visited Mehdi and have nothing but praise for quality of food and excellent service provided by everyone present, so happy to have them close to where we live and above all, they take hygene very seriously, rest assured you will be safe there

This is our local and I thought that everyone needs to know how good this restaurant actually is. The food is very good as always and there is always advice on what goes best with each curry. Reza the owner helps and recommends food to suit you taste. All safety requirements are met and we felt comfortable eating in the restaurant. Had an incredible takeaway last night. All of the food was exceptional. I had the Lamb Jalfrezi which was particularly good. Meat was tender, sauce was delicious. All of us thoroughly enjoyed in and there wasn't a morsel left! Well done to Rez and the team and thank you.

My partner and I ordered a curry for the first time from here at the end of April for his birthday. 5 minutes after ordering my waters broke and I went into labour! We called up and had to cancel the order. Very shortly after we received a text message from (I believe) the owner (Rez) to say that they don’t have the facilities to issue a refund over the phone but to call them when we can to sort something out. So I go ahead and give birth just over 4hrs after ordering and then cancelling our meal. 3 weeks later my partner called up to have a chat with them and order us our curry. They remembered who we were and had our order from last time saved. They also congratulated us on our arrival and checked that myself and the baby were well. We managed to have the exact meal we wanted 3 weeks previously. Due to Covid-19 we had to go and collect but that went smoothly and the food was ready at the time stated. The curry was hot and good. I personally particularly enjoyed the madras and chilli naan. We will definitely be ordering again.

I'd heard great things about this restaurant, but I have to say, I was quite disappointed. Bought King Prawn Shaslik and there were only 4 medium size prawns in it, so at £14.50, not very good value! The pilau rice had no discernible seasonings or flavour and the food leaked all over the bag. So, all in all, quite disappointing.

Top quality Indian cuisine. The main dishes are well flavoured with spices and herbs. The fish main was excellent. The side dishes lack flavour. The naan was disappointing as small and no flavour. The chipati was good. The service was a little odd as we ordered on line and found that the time to pick up the Take Away was wrong and it was later. We went down later and unfortunately had to wait ba further 25 minutes. I would still recommend as the main dishes were excellent.

We have eaten here a few times as it’s our “local” Tonight was another amazing meal. 1st class service under pinned by 1st class food. We both shared starters and ordered a main dish and sides each and we’re not disappointed. We have allergy requirements and always feel so happy and at ease in here. It’s definitely a little gem nested in the heart of Heatherside.

Mehdi is one of those places that don't need to advertise - in fact location is terrible and yet it's always packed. It is definitely the best Indian restaurant in and around Camberley (in my opinion)

Having been brought up on great tasting authentic Pakastani/Indian food, Medhi is the only one that satisfies my tastebuds. We've lived in the area for 10 years and have tried majority of the local curry restaurants. Mehdi is the only one that is consistently outstanding including special occasions such as New Years Eve and Valentine's. Our favourites include: Lamb Jalfrezi and Brinjal Alloo (aubergine and potato curry) which is a special order.Great food and friendly personal service.

My partner and myself always love a good Indian. We’ve been here a couple times and ordered a few takeaways. The food is always excellent and the manager always gives good recommendations. We enjoy that they recognise us and have a personal approach to their servicing. Highly recommend it’s a small place and always busy but so worth booking to go.

I been in the restaurant with my friend for takeaway .the manager or owner start panicking and rude with the bar girl and other waiter. He should change his behaviour. Not a good impression at all

We’ve lived only a couple of miles from Medhi for many years, but such are the embarrassment of curry riches in the locale that tonight was our first visit. There is an issue with our regular at the moment and Chinese New Year blocked our standard Plan B. Followed the reviews to Medhi for a takeaway; a stern test on a very busy Saturday night. Advised of an hour wait before ordering and this was spot on so no problem. Food absolutely first class; at least the equal of our regular, possibly better? We’ll clearly have to go back for a second opinion!

Four of us had lovely meal. Can't fault the food or service. We all chose a different main dish and each one was excellent. The onion bhaji's are so lovely, light and crispy and we have never found them anywhere else so good. Keep up the excellent work!

It’s New Year’s Eve so I sort of understand but I was told 45 mins, which turned into 2.5 hours until I had my order. The food wasn’t as good as it usually is, it was greasy with dry chicken. I wasn’t impressed at all as this is clearly terrible service and they were still taking orders whilst being so behind and over 30 people waiting.

This was my first visit to Mehdi and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is more stylish inside than it looks from the outside and the service was friendly and efficient.

Just had yet another great meal here at the Mehdi to celebrate my 60th birthday. The owner and his staff couldn’t have done anything more to make my night.

We wanted to eat at short notice and they helped. We had two courses and both starter and main were beautifully presented and cooked. The menu has a number of dishes that vary from that normally offered by Indian restaurants, and we have returned a few times now to try different items. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

I thought I’d find another Indian restaurant as good as my usual! I have visited Medhi on several occasions now and have never been disappointed.

Have been using Mehdi as my go to Indian restaurant since it first opened.

Have visited The Medhi many times since its opening. Consistently top class food both in it’s presentation and it’s taste. Backed up by exemplary service from the bar and waiting staff it is by far the best in this area. This all couldn’t be possible without the owner Rez who oversees it all. Top marks all round....will be back soon.

We are lucky enough to have Mehdi on our doorstep and either eat in or get takeout at least once a month, more if the family are staying! The food is always gorgeous; fluffy potatoes in the saag aloo, warming and comforting ginger chicken, excellent jalfrezi, just a few of our favourites. Highly recommended.

I use this restaurant as often as possible. The Food is temperature hot and tastes gorgeous. The Staff are friendly and professional. I have never had a bad experience here since it has opened. Keep cooking the lovely food.

I have visited the mehdi on many different occasions and have always had meals and service of the highest quality. I have recommended the mehdi to all my friends and family and have only ever had glowing reports back from them. The food and drinks are both competitively priced and have always walked away feeling I’ve had value for money. There is a reason this place has held an outstanding reputation for so long compared to other restaurants.

Since the opening of an extremely local Indian Restaurant, I visited on numerous occasions and dined in with friends, family, large groups and also frequent takeaways. Every occasion always great food and service I always highly recommend Mehdi. Well done Rez and Team!

Madras watery, no heat at all, very disappointing takeaway. Only need the one takeaway to get the picture. On the plus side quality of the chicken itself was good, in taste and size. The madras sauce was the worst I have tried in ages. Rice ok, Bombay potato also ok but no bite. Won’t bother trying again. I was really looking forward to a hot madras as well.....

Supposed to be the best round here. The takeaway we ordered tasted so bad (three separate people tried it! ) that we threw it away. Will never go back again.

Bunch of prats had shorts and t shirt on told me they had a dress code everyone else was sat in restaurant wearing the same there attitude was disgusting avoid this restaurant if you can they are idiots

In Bisley opzoek naar een Indiaas restaurant. Na wat heen en weer vragen is er op 15minuten met de auto een heel goed restaurant zei men. Dus op naar Mehdi een klein maar zeer goed Indiaas restaurant. De keuze is moeilijk maar welke je ook maakt het zal zeker smaken. Laat je niet verrassen door hun website wat ingericht is op afhaal gerechten. Wil je heerlijk Indiaas eten is dit zeker een aanrader.

My family and I have been to Mehdi several times for somewhere between a year-18 months. It has never disappointed. I have had a range of dishes; including chicken balti, chicken biriyani, king prawn delight and a delicious duck dish, the name of which I can't remember. It is rather hidden away amongst the shops at Heatherside so I suppose you could say it is a hidden gem! The staff are extra friendly and always willing to accommodate any dietary needs you require.

Have been here several times and enjoyed yet another great meal with two other local couples last Friday
