Best coffee on Portland Road in my opinion! Dare I say best coffee in this whole little area of Hove. Owners are super lovely & friendly as well ☺️☺️☺️Have not had food (yet!) but the sandwiches & cakes on display look lovely !

I had a wonderful quick lunch here and the butternut squash and roasted mushroom soup was delicious. Also, the olive oil drizzled on top tasted very good quality.

A small cafe, great owners, the best salad in England, cold Sicilian wine, friendly and welcoming to all. The real thing. My first but not last visit. There is also a garden.

Thrilled to have discovered this little slice of Sicily in Hove. Came here with two friends and had the most delicious coffee, brunch and cake. Everything was divine and the atmosphere of the place is just gorgeous, I felt as if I’d teleported out of Hove and into Sicily (even though I’ve never been…) I really can’t recommend this place enough and will most certainly be back!!

Three of us went in for a coffee and cake , were warmly welcomed by the family, who if turned out were from Sicily (Milazzo), excellent food and coffee, but above all a warm, welcoming atmosphere from Georgio, Sonia and Francesco. Hidden treasure in Hove. There is an Italian courtyard garden inside where you can try to amazing Sicilian cakes and lunches, sitting in the sunshine. Very rare to find an independent cafe with unique and warm atmosphere, and great music.

Conseil au gérant : inscrire " formation sourire" dans le plan de développement des compétences. Pain et eau inconnu au bataillon. Vin hors de prix mais ...... bon, il faut l'avouer. Je déconseille

Portland Road is a spoil for quality Cafe's, but this just stole my heart. I was greeted by warm staff who greeted me with a smile and made sure I was happy during my visit. The food and coffee was really good and I will be back to support.

Superb cafe. Owned and operated by a lovely family from Sicily, this cafe offers excellent food (I'm in love with the cake - how can this cake be so good?!) and is decorated - wait for it - with gorgeous art painted by one of the proprietors. This place has such a special vibe, it really is a ray of Sicilian sunshine in cloudy old England. Strongly recommended.

He is such a character and so passionate about the food and the place, you can tell he really cares a lot about about giving you a great experience. I am vegetarian and Giorgio said that if we had let him know beforehand he would have been able to prepare something specially, however, there are several good vegetarian dishes on the menu so this was not an issue. The food was beautifully presented, with simple ingredients, but bursting with flavours. My partner had the lemon pasta, I had the spinach lasagne - both absolutely delicious. Giorgio recommended a lovely bottle of wine (not cheap, but it was my partners birthday!). The place is cosy and rustic with tasteful decor. It certainly lived up to its great reputation, for us anyway!

I found this place on trip advisor & called to make a reservation. Unfortunately when I called they were full but Giorgio the owner asked I send an email & if a table became available he would contact me, which he did. A week or so prior to our arrival he emailed me the menu for the evening & when I asked about alternatives for one of our party there was no problem. On our arrival Giorgio gave us a fabulous welcome & brought amuse bouche, 1 of which was adapted for our friend with the food intolerance. The place is tiny & he is the only one on the floor which is nice for personal service but we did think the service was a bit slow because of that, not such a problem with the food because it was fresh but we did have to ask a good few times to top up our wine (it was kept away from the table) We all really enjoyed the food & the atmosphere & while it wasn't cheap it wasn't exorbitant prices either. It was extremely hot inside so maybe a small AC unit might not go astray either. Would recommend for a good food & relaxing evening.

A friend booked Medirerraneo for a Birthday ceibration. The resturant is lovely and cosy and the perfect atmosphere for a group booking. The food was lovely and the staff explain everything to you. The resturant also bake, they baked a wonderful birthday cake for our desert. I will definitlly be looking at making a booking for myself and partner.

Popped in for a drink and light lunch Sunday lunch looked amazing but we had supper plans so just shared roast spuds, Yorkies and gravy! Yum! Doggy friendly. This was the first real winter weekend but it was toasty warm! Can’t wait to return for full on Sunday lunch soon!!

Just popped in for a coffee and cake after reading a review. Had the limoncello cake and it was delicious! Quiet and cheerful, staff helped with directions to the train station and I wish I had the time to try the sandwiches! Next time ;)

Visited recently for lunch and ended up staying for hours — great ambience, choice of background music and very relaxing . The leek pie was yummy and the wine very reasonably priced — great stuff. It made a dull, cold Saturday afternoon a very pleasant experience. We will be back.

Popped in and tried the gluten free chocolate hazelnut cake. Usually, I don’t like gluten free desserts but this was really nice and chocolatey. The staff are really nice, interior is lovely and the paintings are nice to look at. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to go and try other things!

I went there to get some breakfast but was not available after 12:00 instead I got vegan focaccia with fresh orange juice and I paid 10.49£ to take away and I must say was sooo yumm I definitely recommend :)

We had a magical wine tasting on Valentines Night. The Scillian wines were superb and the food delicious. The hosts made our visit memorable and can't wait for our next tasting. Four of us just had lunch there food and wine brilliant.

The breakfast & broccoli sandwiches were very nice, good coffee, sunny garden, friendly staff. Toilet had a retro chain pull, first one I have seen in years. Colourful art all round. Limited menu choice but everythingwas very well done / tasty.

This is as good as it gets for independent restaurants in Brighton and Hove.  Mediterraneo is a quaint, authentic and cosy little restaurant in Portland Road.  The food is unique in flavors and beautifully presented. Impeccable service and forensic attention to detail.  Warm, relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Perfect for any occasion. I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful food with attention to detail between Sonya and Giorgio the owners. Absolute bargain for top level of service, delicious three courses and wine. The atmosphere is very warm and relaxed with customers of all ages, some dressed up or casually. All equally welcome. We had a fantastic night and am looking forward to my next visit which is booked already.

We had an amazing meal for my birthday here, run by a husband and wife, the food was incredible, the service went above and beyond and it had an authentic personal feel that I have not found before in Brighton. Thank you for the awesome dining experience and would recommend anyone and everyone there! They were also great catering for the vegans of the group (letting them know before we came).All in all perfect

Small quaint restaurant with nice romantic vibes and candle lit tables. Best service I've ever experienced, waiter paid a lot of attention to detail.

Food is delicious, but what's really special is the homy atmosphere and the kindness of the service (wife and husband, no other staff).They only have 4-5 tables, in a very nicely decored space. It's really highly recommended!

My partner and I visited here and tried traditional Sicilian cuisine for the first time and I can honestly say it is the best dining experience we've ever had. Run by husband and wife with a warm welcoming manner, serving family recipes with a twist, the food was beautiful, the wine was amazing and the hospitality was outstanding, we will definitely be visiting here again and we have already been recommending it to others. We hope to see you both again soon!

Had a great time here. It's a very cosy and unique place. The owners are fantastic. Giorgio is front of house and is very charming, he goes out of his way to help. Sonia his wife does all the cooking and great food it is too. You have to book at least 2 weeks in advance as they only have seating for about 14.

My husband took me there for a birthday surprise! What a wonderful surprise, a beautiful place, wonderful food, Gorgio front of house and his wife Sonia does the cooking. You were made to feel like you were the only ones there, so attentive and friendly. Had such a lovely time. A gem that I never knew existed and we eat out quite a lot.

Lovely intimate venue with warm hospitality and beautifully presented dishes. Unfortunately the flavours didn't quite match up to the presentation, hence the loss of a star. Other cosy places in town deliver 5* cuisine (try Semolina)

Delightful evening at this small and intimate Sicilian restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented; individual needs were catered for with sensitivity and generousity. The wine list and pairings were explained with passion and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
