Great food, the staff were very friendly

I came to med. with friends and family to celebrate a birthday. The food here was truly lovely - the menu is exciting, varied and reasonably priced for the innovation and ingredients. We tried almost everything but the highlight for everyone was the meatloaf and mushrooms, respectively. Unfortunately my review is slightly dampened as we felt the service made the experience a slightly less positive one. The front of house team looking after us were fairly hands-off, and more could have been done to make us feel comfortable and settled (checking we have what we need, providing extra cutlery etc as we were sharing plates, talking us through the menu, checking if we wanted to order more food drinks etc.) We were also warned they’d need the table back (totally understand this is policy after two hours) but it was done pretty tactlessly while we were eating and had just ordered more wine, the restaurant was also completely empty and we felt we were being rushed out. I’d recommend coming for a casual bite but but would love to see med. up its FOH service game to provide a really nice dining experience.

Everything was fantastic. The aesthetic is moody and cosy, the food was euphoric inducing and even the beverages on offer delicious. The service was perfect, knew what they were talking about and available just the right amount to be present but not overbearing. Absolutely incredible meal and the pricing is so reasonable it was almost a shock! Satisfyingly full and still thinking about my meal, even the bread and butter blew me away.

Nice small plates restaurant, serving new interesting takes on classic Mediterranean food. Some plates are excellent, some not so much but overall great quality. Busy service on Friday with only two people serving so was either slow or plates came out quickly! Think they need more staff. Would come back and try seasonal menu. Recommend.

Had dinner here for a party of 8 for work. The food was pretty good but the whole experience was just a bit odd. Staff were not helpful at all, food came out in a completely random order, had to chase multiple times for things.

What incredible food!!! I had heard so many good things about Med and it even exceeded my expectations. Every dish was unique, exciting and delicious. A wonderful, friendly and relaxed atmosphere with great service. We will definitely be back.

My friend and I had dinner here a couple of days ago and had a lovely experience! We shared 5 plates between us and left feeling full. The fried chicken and aubergine were my personal favourites, the bread was also delicious. Great selection of wines too. Very lovely service as well.

The experience was disastrous. We ordered some patatas bravas that were good and golden, which we couldn't eat because apart from the fact that the piece was very small, it wasn't good. And to top it all off, we couldn't pay in cash because they didn't have the change for £14. I wouldn't recommend it.

Stunning and affordable. Get there as soon as you can. The range of dishes is stunning; absolutely loved every one of them and they pack real flavour punch hits. Incredibly impressive small kitchen. Genuinely one of the best meals I have had in ages and only £120 for 4 people. Can't recommend highly enough for how varied fresh and delicious all was. Particular shout out to the turnip and mackerel!

The food here is superb, with the kind of dishes served at Burnt Orange. Imaginative, different and utterly delicious. Med should be much better known, it really is a ‘hidden gem’. Excellent food last night. We ordered 75% of the menu to share. everything was amazing. They have crispy potatoes in a Big Mac style sauce that were sublime. Very good small plates menu. Friendly staff and a great, laid back atmosphere.

Second time coming here and it’s probably the best food I’ve eaten. My girlfriend couldn’t believe it either. Pricing is so reasonable and the menu is so well crafted. Can’t recommend it enough. Staff are all lovely.

Simply outstanding. The food was delicious and service great. It's a set menu with some optional additions. I think everything was great but the burrata with honey and the aubergine dip were standout. I'd 100% recommend it. My only check would be it's more for grown-ups, the dishes are sophisticated and there's no kid dishes expect maybe potatoes.

I visited the restaurant with three friends and got to experience Med's spring menu! The small plate options were great, super diverse and catering to those with different food preferences. We ordered all dishes apart from one, allowing us all to see what Med really has to offer and we were all blown away! Not only was the food great, and served in extremely good time, the portion sizes were incredible especially when we split the dishes in this way (I would highly recommend going as a group of 4 and doing this!). Even dishes I would not normally go for, like wild mushrooms in garlic and polenta, I just didn't want to stop eating! We didn't really get a chance to try the desserts, but they did sound interesting and the seaweed truffles were solid. To accompany the great food, the wine list offers a bunch of great offerings that really match well with the food, and the house cocktails are absolutely smashing! The staff members on service were absolutely great, and very attentive to the table, good wait times weren't very long, especially once starters had come out! (We went midweek so others' experiences may differ) Overall, I'd highly recommend dropping by and visiting Med, and I really look forward to seeing what they cook up for their summer menu, especially the cocktails! The midweek discount was insanely good value for money and it's an experience I find myself wanting to invite my other friends to enjoy with me again!

Utterly sensational Brighton restaurant with a seasonal tasting menu and weekday specials which make that menu £25 on certain days - a real bargain for the quality and quantity of food on offer,.

Best place we’ve eaten in Brighton by a country mile. The food was a master chef type situation. Each dish was exquisite. Med was particularly great for us as I’m a vegan and hubby is a carnivore. It’s rare for us to find somewhere that’s outstanding for us both. The atmosphere is sultry and relaxed. For the average peasant, the menu left you feeling a bit confused rather than salivating. But, the food made up for that. However, we nearly didn’t book because the online menu confused our noggins. Exceptionally glad we did. Highly recommend and we will 100% be returning.

Mostly everything was great and tasty! Not sure the chicken and caviar dish is worth £10 though, v greasy and not a great deal of flavour compared to the other dishes. Would recommend people defo try this place.

Gorgeous place and honestly completely unexpected. Had a few friends down to visit and wanted to find a cute place for us to have a nice meal and genuinely this place was such a good find. I loved the set menu and the fact you get so much variety. (Honestly we ran out of room on the table by the end but in all honesty - you can never have enough food) Wine menu was fabulous, service was great, couldn't really ask for more.

We were here early on a Wednesday. It was a quiet. The real star here is the chef, an unseen force producing wonderful food. Wine list is strong. We chose the house white, £135 with tip for two.

Enjoyed our meal, food tasty and hot. Love the style of service and menu. The best ice cube I’ve ever seen. We benefited from the eat out help out scheme, but I would say quite expensive otherwise.

Fantastic little find restaurant. Had beautiful late lunch after shopping in town. Loved the decor and food was great, no pictures as I was to hungry! We had burrata and focaccia to start followed by gnudi & sea bass. Excellent. Can’t wait to go again. Service was excellent really friendly/professional staff.

Booked Med for a celebratory lunch & all 15 of my guests were absolutely blown away. The food was exciting & innovative, with massive attention to detail (the smoked butter!). Exquisite flavours (hoisin pork!) & stunning presentation (so fresh & colourful). Cocktails were just as amazing. Huge thank you to Jack for promptly organising a banqueting menu for us, with special care to provide alternatives for those with dietary requirements. Service was impeccable, atmosphere was lovely, location great.

I’ve been to Med a good handful of times and it never fails to disappoint. The latest menu concept is absolutely fantastic and the food blew our socks off last night. 10/10

The £25 set price lunch menu is an absolutely astonishing bargain, considering the quality of the food and the inventiveness of the cooking. We are lucky enough to eat out a lot for business and for pleasure all around the country and we are rarely as pleasantly surprised as we were by Med. We recommend it very highly for anyone who loves great food and values independent restaurants really trying to bring something different, compared to the chains. Fully deserved 5 stars.

Last night was the first time I visited the Med, having wanting to go for a while. I must say it didn't dissapoint. The food was amazing, service was great as were the cocktails. A must visit restaurant if you in Brighton. Simple and elegant menu.

One of Brighton's best - exceptional! I've been to med a couple of times now (and have booked in again!) and it's just a wonderful restaurant. It's an insanely reasonable £35 pp and you'll get a selection of starters, homemade bread etc and then choose your favourites from their small plates menu, which is seasonal meaning you can return when it changes ;-) The food is creative, beautifully prepared and very ingredient led, showcasing lots of local food and outstanding flavours. So many things I've never seen or tried (and I eat out lots!). Everything I've eaten here has been really wow but without any pretentiousness, just seriously good food given lots of love. The portions are also generous, "small" plates are certainly not tiny and you won't leave hungry! The staff are friendly and helpful, knowledgable about both the menu and the wine. The restaurant has a lovely informal atmosphere but still looks and feels swanky and special. They create their own cocktails - obviously delicious - and have a really interesting wine list too. Absolutely one of Brighton's real gems.

We had an absolutely GORGEOUS meal at Med! I had seen photos of the food on instagram (which looked amazing), and I can wholeheartedly say it tasted as good as it looks! We loved the sharing concept, all the starters were delicious (watermelon sashimi — who knew!) and between the four of us we tried the majority of the main menu. We shared a yummy Ganache to finish, and the cocktails were great too! Overall, everything was delicious, the flavours and textures were so interesting and all of us said it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time! The service was incredible, super lovely staff who were helpful & on top of everything from the start. Couldn’t recommend Med more — we’ll be back soon for sure! Ps. They're also dog friendly which is awesome!

Great food and music, cocktails are very good too, love the seasonal Paloma on the current menu. It’s in the heart of the Lanes but a bit off the beaten track meaning it’s a bit of a find. Very cool place where the food takes you by surprise a bit - the watermelon sashimi and beef tartare a la Big Mac are genius. Would definitely recommended for anyone visiting Brighton.

A hidden gem. A small menu of interesting, diverse, delicious small plates to share, Incredible bread and butter and fabulous value for money. The owner was lovely and friendly and we left stuffed and happy. Will be going back.

I've eaten here 4 times over the past 6 months with different groups of friends (meaty, veggie, vegan and fishy) and each time the food has been interesting, well-executed and most importantly - delicious! I love seeing my friends enjoying their food and Med has delivered on this every time. Even taking into account the preferences and allergies that come with group bookings, nobody has felt left out or under-served. Which is a relief when you're the group organiser! There's also a neatly put together wine list, representing great value for money and studded with hard to find gems for those in the know. Talking of value for money, £35 a head for what you get on your plates is an absolute steal in these costly times. To top it all off, service from Jack and the front of house team has always been welcoming and attentive. I kinda don't want to shout too loud about one of my fave places in the centre of town, but everyone should come and experience Med! Seriously interesting food that will impress even the most jaded London visitor or highly discerning local...

There were 5 of us for dinner on Saturday evening, we had a table for 7.30 and when we arrived there was only one other table in there. There's a new set menu for £35, PP. The food was delicious as it always is, really cannot fault it. The service however was not, we wanted cocktails and the server didn't know what was in them, we asked about wine pairings and again they didn't know anything about the wines and constantly had to go and check when asked about food. We didn't feel particularly looked after so when the bill came and there was a service charge of 12.5% (over £40) we challenged it. They kindly took it off and we gave our feedback, we did still pay some service however. It felt like when you're paying over £300+ bill you expect good service and we didn't feel we got that.

Can't fault it. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. Came here for their new (as of June 2023) lunch set menu and everything we had tasted incredible. Favourites were the cauliflower pakora as a starter and then the burrata and mussels. Nice wine menu too. I'd been meaning to go here for a while and will definitely be back for dinner at some point. My mum loved the moss decoration on the walls!

My family and I came here on a Friday night and had one of the best meals during our one week trip traveling around the UK. Owners were fantastic, the food was incredible, and our cocktails were absolutely delicious. If we ever make it back to Brighton, we’ll be eating and drinking at med.!!!!!!

Amazing set of menu with the best mix of flavors served all together. My favorite is the friend chicken, mais skewers, and burrata. The best dining experience we had so far in Brighton. The whole crew there were also giving good vibes! Hope to get back again.

I had an absolutely amazing dinner at Med with some friends. The food, wine, ambience and service were incredible. I particularly recommend the beef tartare, cauliflower and celeriac which were outstanding. The portions were generous and it was very reasonable for £32 per person. Strongly recommend and I will definitely be back!

Wow! I booked the whole restaurant in November for 20 people for lunch and everyone was very impressed. Jack and his team at Med were very helpful and accommodating with the menu choices and making the event extra special. I’ve been to Med a few times now and each dish is always delicious and memorable. Amazing cocktails as well! A hidden gem in Brighton, that everyone needs to go to.

Meal with a couple of friends. Staff were nice, but there wasn't anything I'd eat again. I wanted to like it, but I wouldn't go again.

It was okay. The atmosphere was nice and the food was tasty however the menu states you order two plates per person for £32, I don’t think that this is enough. There wasn’t an option to order a side plate. Certain little things like not serving a finger bowl or additional napkins with the king prawns and more breads for the main so you can scoop up the delicious flavours, would have been good. Also, an additional 12.5% service charge was added to the bill for a table of 3, I know this isn’t compulsory but let us decide how much we want to leave and don’t presume it’s 12.5% of the bill. Overall, it was okay.

The £32 per head menu was essentially some bread with a couple of picky bits for the table plus 2 tapas sized dishes. The food didn't meet the expectation of the price point. Service was good and friends said cocktails were nice, but £5 for 2/3rd of a pint of beer was again to steep. A bit underwhelming, I understand the rising costs in the industry as I'm a career chef but thought it could have been executed at a better price per head.

We went yesterday for dinner. I liked the small plates aspect of it, however, the food, I have to say was average at best. The aubergine dish was lovely, dips were nice, but just nice, not amazing. The 'crispy potatoes' was the biggest let down. They were not crispy and tasted like left over roasties. They were not cooked fresh as they were only luke warm in the middle. The food was ok but I wouldn't recommend or go there again. The service was good though... The cocktails were good so that is something.

Food was excellent. Service was questionable. We came as a four and we were advised to order three tapas plate each from the menu. As the menu has 18 items, we crossed out 5 items. We explained to the the waiter that those are the ones that we didn’t want. Unfortunately, there was miscommunication and the food that arrived were the 5 items that we didn’t order. We understand that miscommunications happen, but the discussion ensued was very disappointing. We were told (felt more like guilt tripped) that if we don’t take the hot food that we ordered, it would go to waste and they would give us “10% off for these orders”. They will take back the chilled items that we didn’t want. There was sadly no apology and we were asked to “reach a middle ground”. Overall, poor communication and service let the excellent cooking down.

Wow! Amazing food. Taste & texture combinations incredible. Absolute musts are prawn cocktail gyoza (yes. Really!); tikka aubergine; pumpkin kiroke); battered cucumber; banana magnum. Very slight disappointments were the fig & Brie. But that was in comparison to what had come before, which was frankly awesome. And very reasonable. We completely pigged out & bill was very reasonable. An absolute must-try!!

Lovely food and friendly service. The menu is based on small plates for sharing, and there's a good variety of dishes. Not too much choice for vegans though. It's a pleasant, smallish restaurant close to the old town hall, so nice and central.

Listen, there’s so much I could write up about this place. Trust me, just go there. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, you can sit and munch and drink the entire day away if you so choose! We ordered I think 9 dishes, which for 2 people was WAY TOO MUCH, but, we really wanted to try a little bit of everything. The only negative point is the wine list is massive, but, it’s mostly bottle service only. Very few offered on by the glass, so you have to sacrifice finding a good pairing with being a bit saddled into the whole bottle. Just bring more friends, though, and it’s not a problem. Give it a go, you really will not be disappointed. (Get the eggplant).

Had an amazing meal here last night. The menu is fantastic and we struggled to choose so asked for chefs recommendations and had 6 beautiful dishes between us. Highly recommended the broccoli with marmite! Delicious. Service was fab too.

Absolutely fantastic! Everything we’ve eaten here was so very delicious. The concept of small plate dishes - sharers is quite convenient. Don’t be discouraged by the location of the restaurant, the service and quality of food it top notch.
