McNab's Bar & Bistro in Highland

My partner and I attended the restaurant yesterday as part of an itison deal. Initially the meal started well with a friendly waitress showing us to our table. We were presented with a limited Xmas menu and ordered. My partner had a prawn cocktail which was thrown on to a plate and I had spiced pumpkin soup which neither tasted spiced nor of pumpkin. Next we both had a turkey dinner which was vile. To be honest the turkey wasn't awful however there was also some unidentified darker meat on the plate which I didn't eat. The sprouts were brown and mushy and to be honest I don't know what else was on the plate. We waited over half an hour approximately before I had to corner a waitress so we could pay and leave. No apology. We were also entitled to a pudding but after the awful meal I just wanted to leave. My advice would be to avoid unless you want to feel ill and be ignored by the serving staff.

Considering there were only 5 tables outside and they are most, if not all, of the income for the day, you'd expect the staff to come out and take orders and then bring the ordered drinks.Instead the bar staff watch people sit down as they disappear back inside leaving people sitting for half an hour or longer. When you finally manage to get their attention, they take one order and vanish for another 30 mins. Eventually your drink might appear, but they don't look around to see if anyone else has sat down (They have) or anyone else wants a drink (They do) they just rush back indoor until someone else manages to finally get their attention when the process starts again. If you go bust, blame the chap in the shiny suit!

Popped in for an afternoon pint but despite fantastic view of castle across the beautiful river Ness, the place lacked soul. Staff great and prices ok but not sure I'd bother returning with so many other interesting looking places nearby.

Decent pub grub but that's all, had deep fried brie to start was just warm, had burger for main course chips were lovely and cooked to perfection but burger was extremely salty, for the money all in all not bad but not great either...

Una vez más, esta simple solicitud fue recibida con hostilidad. Después de esperar poco menos de una hora para nuestras comidas, estábamos agradecidos por el 'plan de comer fuera para ayudar', porque 20 es demasiado caro para el bistec mediocre, demasiado cocido y duro que se trajo, acompañado de un cuchillo de mantequilla y salsa fría. . So we went to Mcnab’s on 6/8/20 and had some food between us which was ok, long, dark-haired girl serving was nice, sat outside then inside NO MASKS REQUIRED at all. My partner had seen their list of Whiskeys and wanted to try a couple of them on 8/8/20. We got turned away by a blonde short haired staff member who said we couldn’t come in TO THE BAR because one of us didn’t have a mask on... wth? Firstly no one else had a mask on inside OR outside the bar. Secondly we did not need one on 6/8/20. Thirdly why do you need a mask on JUST to enter the bar when as soon as you sit down you don’t need a mask as you will be drinking/eating. Sounded like a lame-ass excuse a bouncer at a club would give you if you didn’t have the ‘right shoes’ on or something... clearly on a power trip or had to come up with some other excuse rather than “I know there’s free tables but I’m struggling to cope with how many people are here already”. Should come up with a different well-rehearsed reason instead for next time e.g. “sorry we’re at full capacity” rather than all the other customers looking confused as to why they don’t need to wear a mask inside but we do ‍♀️

Esta fue una de las experiencias gastronómicas más incómodas que he tenido. A pesar de no estar muy ocupados, la gente esperaba 50 minutos para la cena. El personal estaba estresado, nervioso y luchaba por hacer que los huéspedes se sintieran bienvenidos. Me sentí incómodo estando allí y realmente no quería pedir más bebidas o comida ya que obviamente todo era un problema. Uno para evitar si estás en Inverness, una verdadera lástima, ya que la ubicación podría ser buena. El bar tocaba constantemente música rap que parecía contradecir el ambiente del lugar, una mejor elección de música e iluminación marcaría la diferencia, lástima.

Somos locales, así que conoce los bares de la ciudad y esto podría ser increíble. Right on the riverside with large windows looking across to the castle, lovely atmosphere and a small walk into city centre.

We ate and had a drink here just pre Christmas, but were pretty disappointed by both the lack of atmosphere and the poor range of draft beers on offer. It's in a good location, and we felt it could do way better than it currently is doing.

En un momento, el "Administrador de tareas" entró al bar y se pavoneaba diciendo que las cosas no estaban bien. Los clientes están empezando a enojarse bastante por el tiempo que necesitan para obtener comida. Habíamos pedido sándwiches y, después de 25 minutos, preguntamos cuánto tiempo más justo en el momento en que el gerente de turno entró al bar y dijo que el chef acaba de salir pero que otro chef está en camino. Definitivamente no vale la pena el dinero, mi marido pidió un sandwich de gambas de nuevo bastante decepcionante.En conjunto horrible almuerzo y nunca volvería. La joven llamada Kirsty necesitaba una medalla que la mantuvo tranquila, se las arregló muy bien en las circunstancias más horrendas y aguantó con un grosero y arrogante gerente de servicio Andrew. Creo que se llamaba, realmente necesita aprender a manejar y hablar con la gente. Realmente un restaurante muy pobre que claramente tiene muchos problemas. La comida no es nada especial y no es barato. Nunca hay uno a quien volver.

We sat down, only to find out 15 min. later that we had to order and pay inside (no sign whatsoever). There was no staff to clean the tables, so coffeemugs from two groups before us were still on the table. They set up a sunscreen which made it hard to see the castle on the other side of the river (why in the Lords name would one do such a thing?) and to top it all off: contactless payment was declined (as it does every time you reach a certain limit so you don’t get scammed in the metro) and this lady told me dry-eyed that this meant she had to keep my card in custody hahahah. She was easily forgiven though, as she wasn’t the brightest light, she also gave us cappucino in stead of americano’s.

Man muss Essen, inklusive Nachtisch bis 21:00 Uhr an der Bar bestellen und vor ab bezahlenNur ein Mitarbeiter, nicht alle Biere an den Zapfhahn angeschlossen, nicht alle Tische sauber-Teilweise lange Schlangen vor der Bar, aber… Keiner hat sich beschwert!der Mitarbeiter hat geduldig alles abgearbeitet, das Essen hat geschmeckt (leider kein Nachtisch, da schon nach neun)Also zu empfehlen und durchaus akzeptable Toiletten

Plus the service was terrible. A bar full of dirty glasses, long queues to buy a pint, glasses used to serve were dirty. Do not go here. There is a reason they are not booked up.

Pedí el pollo supremo que era 14 llegó y el tamaño de la porción era más como un entrante. En el menú decía servido en una cama de papa, ¿no estás seguro de dónde estaba pero no estaba allí? La pechuga de pollo pequeña era muy dura y seca. Nos reímos mucho de la tacañería en todas nuestras comidas que probablemente cuesta alrededor de 2. 50 cada uno para hacer. Básicamente, la comida vino con una pequeña pechuga de pollo con aproximadamente una cuchara de postre o haggis, 4 papas del tamaño de una canica y tal vez 7 mitades de judías verdes y algunos palitos de zanahoria extremadamente pequeños (tal vez 5 - 7 piezas). Diría que la impresión que obtuve fue que están luchando financieramente y están tratando de exprimir la vida de sus clientes para llegar a fin de mes o hacen porciones tan pequeñas para tratar de obligar a las personas a tomar más de un curso. We waited over an hour for dinner. Servers were not very apologetic about losing our order. Food was mediocre at best.

Just sitting here after an hour and half still Waiting for my lunch Picturesque location on the bank of the River Ness but really appalling service. This was after returning the meal for the first time because it was cold!!!!! Date 25.7.10 Still waiting!!!!

Good points: Food was decent, good selection at the bar

The title says it all. The bartender has to go back into the hotel kitchen to order food and to collect it when it's ready.

This place looks good from the outside, it is on the ground floor of a hotel and looks like a fairly reasonable place to eat. Or so we thought...

Enjoyable lunch, sunshine and seat outside a bonus. Good food and value for money-friendly service. Good choice for lunch and menu good variety

Stopped in here after a long day of travel. Staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. Tried haggis for the first time, and it won’t be the last. The rest of the party had fathered Mac and cheese wi5er with garlic toast and salad or fries. Tennants beer on tap and plenty of choices for single malt to try. Will be back for sure.

We visited McNabs for drinks in between The Gathering. The bar staff were so friendly and accommodating and they had to put up with so much abuse from people in the bar kicking off because they weren’t getting served first. Harry (I believe his name is) the boy with glasses was especially dignified and respectful when receiving abuse from people. He deserves a medal. What a nice guy and nice member of staff for an establishment. Hats off to you, what a wonderful job he is doing. A great credit to your team. We have had a wonderful afternoon in McNabs, thank you for such a nice atmosphere!

We visited one evening after a very beautiful sunny day. It was busy and ordering food and drinks did take over 15 minutes. The food took nearly an hour to arrive but when did was lovely I had the salmon. The team on duty worked incredibly hard and eventually the Manager drafted in help from the hotel. I would go again and hope the team are more supported as the food is good and the place has an enviable position by the river.

Connected to our hotel so we ate here for the first night and then went back again. The food was good and very reasonably priced. Don't forget to try the Scottish gin!

Entramos en la calle cuando solo había otros dos grupos. El camarero nos ignoró por completo. Sin saludo, ni siquiera contacto visual y el lugar estaba muerto. Went in mid afternoon and got freshly prepared sandwiches with crisps and small side salad quickly- good range of spirits in the bar. Went back at in the evening for dinner - excellent choices available- both meals very tasty with bottle of wine - good price. Bar staff very pleasant - barman was busy with customers ordering food and drink and dealing with room service calls too - fetching food orders and clearing tables etc on his own - dealing with “tricky” customers- remained professional and calm - very impressed !

Staff were slow made to wait 50 minutes to make a food order as they said the kitchen was busy. There where only an other 10 people in at the time. Avoid this place for food.

Habiendo estado en el hotel decidimos comer aquí en nuestra última noche. Estoy de acuerdo con algunos de los otros comentarios que el servicio era un poco lento (podría hacer con más personal) pero si no tienes prisa, entonces no es un problema. Ambos platos principales fueron muy buenos: Highland Chicken (pechuga rellena con haggis) era muy sabrosa y su compañero tenía las albóndigas especiales y dijo que era genial. Ambos tuvimos el Cranachan para el postre y guau, podríamos haber comido el doble que era tan delicioso. Ligeramente decepcionado por ningún proyecto de cervezas.

Good location looking out to the Castle. Food was good, but the bar was quite draughty and did not have many draught drinks available when we visited. Guinness was served in a can as the tap wasn't working, and the only available draught beer was Tennants Lager despite further taps Lees etc.on the bar.

Diabolical, slow service i.e. We were forgotten about. Poor quality food although to be fair we never paid for 3 out of 4 meals so can't fault the managers ability to rectify the situation.

Staying at the hotel next door we visited here for lunch before check-in, the staff were friendly and the lunch was fresh, salad nice and crispy and very reasonably priced

I rarely comment on bad service or food as we are very fortunate to pick great restaurants with Trip Advisor ...BUT MacNabs was far from good so don’t want you to waste your money or time.

Lovely views over the river whilst dining outside. Bonus that dogs are allowed and made to feel welcome. Food was fresh, tasty and staff were friendly. The outdoor furniture could do with a clean. Would recommend and would come back.

After a busy morning, and with more plans in our afternoon, we popped into McNab's for a lunch as we just happened to be walking by. It was terribly disappointing. Upon entering, the room seemed to have some character which made us hopeful, but that character was the end of the pleasant dining experience one would want. I don't know if the restaruant can't make up its mind about what it wants to be, perhaps like its name - here it is McNab's, their signage says John MacNab's, other places have just said MacNab's. Before writing the review, I asked the other three in my party what they thought of the restaurant. None could even remember what they had to eat just 10 days later which summarizes the experience. If you come across a restaurant whose name ends with Nab, just keep walking. I would recommend Number 27, just a very short walk across the river. It has somehwat of a bar-like feel, but the food is head and shoulders above.

Called for drinks and a light lunch. Prices were reasonable, the food was nice, the only down side was the cullen skink soup was more like leek & tattie with a tiny bit of haddock thrown in.

We were staying overnight at the hotel attached to the bistro and decided to give them our custom rather than going elsewhere, big mistake! We went to the bar to order food and were told that we would have to wait 15 minutes to order as they had a coach party to serve. We could not see any sign of a large party of people so can only assume they were in another part of the hotel. So we had a drink, waited and went back up to order 25 minutes later only to be told by a different member of staff that we would have to wait another 15 minutes to order as they had a coach party to serve, again! So we left without even finishing our drinks and went elsewhere. Shocking customer service, no apologies given and certainly no loyalty to guests paying to stay at their hotel. Also very disappointing management to accept coach party’s if they do not have the staff or facilities to cope with them and guests at the same time. Will not be using either ever again.

Tengo que decir que el servicio al cliente fue fantástico, Kat (personal) que estaba allí todo el día siempre nos saludaba con una sonrisa y la maña era genial, ella siempre hizo tiempo para charlar mientras sigue realizando sus funciones todos los días, este tienen un ambiente amable. La comida era estupenda, y la hamburguesa especial sobresaliente (esto fue asado del día) eran excelentes. Hubo veces donde había mucha gente en el bar, pero nos sentimos todo el personal tratado esta eficazmente, pueden haber sido más lento cuando sólo uno de los miembros del personal allí, pero para ser honestos, no ver un problema con esta

Lively main room that was packed out and I kept seeing people toting pints into a back or upstairs area, so this place is popular. But I wasn't impressed with the food. My burger only filled about half the bun and wasn't very tasty. My friend had fish and chips with a huge slab of fish that turned out to be mostly batter. But the chips were great and the prices good. I would go back for the atmosphere but probably not the food.

Had family up from Glasgow for my husbands surprise birthday meal meals were sent out cold complained took away the meals they were sent out to us a second time still cold three of our group had to go to the sit in chip shop at the corner great fish and chips disastrous family meal spoiled the whole evening never go back there again they didn’t have a clue what they were doing

Was staying at the hotel, almost didn't eat here due to some of the negative reviews but glad i did. Food was good. Service was good and the price was more then reasonable.

Absolutely awful! Do not come here. Second time I've been and been disappointed. Non of our meals were served at the same time, food was stone cold in the middle, waiting staff rude & unprofessional. Will not be back!

Spent 2 evenings here whilst staying at Columba hotel , it was very relaxed , the staff amazing , although seemed to be rushed off their feet , the food was beautiful , wonderful wonderful 2 evenings spent .

A choice of 2 or 3 course meals with good variety of food. Was there with one other; she had home made soup which was very tasty I had spring rolls with a dip sauce and salad. The spring rolls had been baked not fried therefore a bit hard on the outside but very pleasant and the dip sauce was very good. We booth had cheese pasta with home made chips and garlic bread which we had not ordered but we were not charged for it. The cheese pasta was very good, not the usual dry over cooked type! Huge serving and would recommend it! The waitress; Suzi, was very friendly and attentive without being overly so. Would definitely return The atmosphere is good and McNabs is in an ideal situation for the centre of Inverness.

I was staying in the hotel, and it was absolutely tipping it down so decided to eat here. Only offered the set menu, at what seemed to be a reasonable cost of £16 for three courses. I chose the blue cheese mousse starter, the roast pork main and chocolate log. The mousse was too overpowering and not enough chopped walnut with it, and only 1 small bread roll. The pork was disappointing dry, hardly any gravy and the seasonal veg was quite clearly straight out of the freezer. The chocolate log was quite nice, dressed up with cream and raspberry fruits. The restaurant itself was over bright, blandly decorated with no atmosphere at all.

We stayed at the Columba Hotel recently and ate in the bar one night as part of the deal. The bistro was quite busy and we had to wait for a table, which was not really a problem. I went to the bar to order, and because the bar and restaurant were busy, was told there would be a delay. I didn't mind this, however the bar person dealing with my order was quite rude and not very helpful. We actually didn't need to wait long for our food, so there was no need for the drama. I would rate the meal as average, service average despite the man at the bar. Maybe we were just unlucky............

Macnabs Bar está en la planta baja del hotel, que es Columba situado al lado del río Ness y directamente enfrente del castillo de Inverness. La comida y la bebida son buenos, el personal es muy amable, las vistas son muy buenas.

Durante su estancia en el hotel durante el fin de semana comimos en Mcnabs sábado por la noche. La comida estaba caliente y abundante, un servicio estaba bien. Lo bueno es que es una habitación de buen tamaño para sentarse y tener una charla y...

Located beside the Columba hotel , this is a spacious pub with a fairly good range of beers and food.

We were a bit unsure about Mcnab’s having read some of the reviews but then decided to try it nonetheless.

Food has to be ordered at the bar but when I asked what the soup of the day was the (non Scottish) girl took several attempts to pronounce cockaleekie - might be a good idea to explain local food to the bar staff that have to take orders! The fish and chips were good, crispy batter and flaky fish, it wasn't our first choice of restaurant but it was reasonable value and basic but good food.

We ate here twice during our visit to Inverness. Reasonable prices and a nice setting. The service was good, the Guinness was well kept. Garlic mushrooms were a bit over cooked but nice, sirloin steak with a big jug of peppercorn sauce was very good, the haddock and chips was enormous and a bit offputting because the portion was so huge. My steaks were cooked right both times, but brother-in-law had to send his back as he'd said really well done and it wasn't really. Fine when it came back. The cranachan was fantastic. Inverness can be a frighteningly expensive place to eat, McNabs was very reasonably priced, the food was good and the service was fine. I'd certainly go again next time I'm in Inverness.

Absolutely terrible, service, staff didn't know what they were doing, waited 40 mins then told food not even started in kitchen so would have to wait another 15 minutes. Got refund and left. No apology at all.

Service for food was bad although bar staff were better, food was bland and luke warm just like the waitress, wouldn't recommend this place also there is more atmosphere on the moon than in here.

Very polite staff, pleasant environment but baked potatoes microwaved to mush and one was rotten and had to be sent back. Pity

Most restaurants are all booked up in advance. I ate here last week and the food was good as well as the service. I am just not into the whole ordering at the bar thing.

Ci siamo fermati per un pranzo veloce.L'interno e' piuttosto triste e cosa negativa ,dopo che ci e' stato detto di accomodarci,una cameriera ci ha detto in malo modo che dovevamo ordinare al banco.Abbiamo visto che era comunque un atteggiamento riservato a tutti i clienti :( Passando al lato cibo la Cullen Skink( zuppa tipo chowder,con il merluzzo ) era buona e il salmone di mio marito corretto. Con tutte le alternative che offre Inverness,consiglio di andare altrove .

Went here on the last day in town. We have been in Inverness numerous times but never made it here. Service was odd, you ordered food and drinks at bar. Food came out really fast and servings were huge. Fish and chip was larger then anything else we ordered. I got the curry and it was good, but portion was not as big. Drink prices were good. Great atmosphere though there was a server who seemed to be a jerk walking around. Would go again.

We were a large group but unfortunately missing orders were prevalent as the dinner went on.We ordered individually by family to save any confusion, but it did not work. Two o our group did not get their meals and when requested when they would get them, it was noted that the order was not placed. 20 minutes later they arrived.the batter on the fish and chips was not nice, spongy, thick and soggy, two of the group who had it, left it, could not eat them.The lamb shank was okay, but nothing special.The wagyu burgers were okay too, but again nothing special. One of our group asked if they could pay extra to put some bacon in their burger but were told, no, we don't do that.....It's a nice vetting by the river, but the customer service and food we not too good,

I was able to pop in for lunch recently for a ladies afternoon out. It was delightful! The staff were attentive and friendly. I tried the Wagyu burger and it one of the better burgers I have had since moving here from the states. The view from the bar/restaurant is one of the best in the city. It has direct sight to the River Ness and the castle. On nice days you can sit outside.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to Loch Ness and we enjoyed it. The waiter was truly amazing, pleasant, well informed, and efficient. We were 12 people and ordered a variety of plates from pasta for the kids (very good actually) to hamburgers, the lamb shank (just OK) or the classic pie (excellent). Would come back again!

called into McNabs for an evening meal after a day out in Inverness.We had a good meal, I had cullen skink and a lamb shank and hubby had scotch broth & salmon. We both enjoyed our meals and it was very reasonable

It appeared that the bartenders really did not like their jobs nor the customers, and certainly did not want to provide service to customers. I saw several patrons actually walk out. They took forever and appeared to cherry-pick who they wanted to service

Large spacious bar/restaurant with an open feel to it sited on the River Ness. The food was good standard pub food, a little more like home cooking. As well as the standard drinks available a range of special whiskeys was advertised.

Stopped off here for lunch. We ordered the Fish Platter. Fish was fine but then not much they could get wrong by slapping some fish on a plate. It was served with a roll and salad. The salad looked like it was well past it's sell by date and the roll was stale. No Butter to help disguise the stale roll. The staff made some people order at the bar and decided to give some people table service despite the notice stating that you order at the bar. Staff were sloppy and I don't think they cared much whether you enjoyed your meal or not. Will not be visiting this place again.

Stopped here for some dinner and the location is ideal as it's right by the River Ness and shows great views of both the river and Inverness Castle perched high on the hill.There is plenty of choice on the menu, all of which are decent value for money. I ordered the fish and chips, and it was superb with there being plenty of food on the plate.The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is also welcoming and warming. It is also possible to have food outside, which would be brilliant considering the view from the restaurant, but inside is very nice with a wooden Scottish lodge feeling to the place. I would have liked more real ales or Scottish ales to have been available, but there was plenty of Scottish whiskies on offer.

Excellent food, plenty of choice and very reasonable prices. Service a bit slow due to lack of staff but otherwise excellent.

Stopped in here for dinner. I had the pork roast, and my partner had the spaghetti carbonara. I tried a bit of the spaghetti and it was lovely. My roast, however, was disappointing. The meat tasted a bit...odd and old. I think it may have been the previous days. One of the roast potatoes was hard in the middle. Everything was lukewarm so became cold very quickly, although the carbonara was piping hot.The barman was nice and friendly, but admitted they did not have a good selection of beers.In all, it was just alright but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We have stayed at the Columba hotel frequently but have only eaten there a few times. Although the food was adequate it was a little on the cool side which was disappointing although it was tasty. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming.

This bar is very cold take your coat and gloves when you visit,food is reasonable and no Scottish beers

Below freezing day and the bar had only 2 little heaters on to cover a huge area. Wood burning stoves not being used which was ridiculous in such cold conditions . Staff were pleasant enough but needing a little more training.

First time I have eaten here, although a limited menu it caters for all food taste. The food was tasty and hot when it arrived, well presented and reasonable prices. Good location too

Came here on a Friday night, had the minted lamb shank and was lovely. Great menu selection and full bar and also very friendly staff.

We had lunch at McNabs and it was the first time we have eaten here. My boyfriend had the Cullen skink soup which was delicious and I had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich. Delicious, well made food and great value for money. Service was great and the lady who served us was polite and friendly. We didn't have to wait long to be served and theres also a lovely view of Inverness castle from the window.

Just two doors down from the hotel arranged by a terrible travel agency (avoid Exploring Vacations!), the tour guide had recommended we go to the pubs rather than restaurants for better quality food. The service was good -- well, ordering at the bar was fast -- and the workers quite friendly. My "well don" burger was char and the french fries just average - steak fries, fresh, just ... blah. Large TV and seating area was nice for the locals in this quiet little place. Bright lights overhead didn't add to the ambience but it was fine for a quick bite. They did have vegetarian options which was nice - I think they may have been the best things on the menu.

6 of us had a bar meal here recently which was sadly very poor. To start with the house red was tasteless and lacked any substance. The onions in the onion gravy with the sausage and mash still had bits of skin on them, the sausages were very dense and the mash had lumps in it. Some of the other main courses were apparently very nice but I did think it odd the Roast beef (roast of the day) didn't have a Yorkshire pudding with it - surely this is standard with a roast beef dinner. The staff were friendly but not very efficient and got our dessert order wrong: i asked for two fudge cakes with ice cream and got one with cream and an ice cream dish! I ordered Eve's pudding & custard which I presumed to be sponge with apple - wrong! This was some sort of soggy pastry with apples and whoever had made the custard had forgotten to sweeten it. Having been in the hotel industry for a long time I felt these were very basic mistakes for a professional kitchen to make and quite honestly could have made a better meal at home. Definitely won't be back.

I decided to pop in to this bar, as it was right next to the hotel we were staying in. The bar was freezing cold and empty. We ordered our food and it was awful. The chicken was cold, potatos and veg hard and I left still feeling hungry. There are much nicer places to eat at around the area!

Wir sind in das McNab's Restaurant reingegangen weil wir so großen Hunger hatten und keine Lust hatten noch was zu suchen. Hatten direkt dort einen Parklpatz gefunden. Erster Eindruck war ganz nett. Andere Besucher hatten nur Getränke bestellt, das hätte uns zu denken geben sollen. Naja, zu spät. Wir - Ehepaar mit 6 Monate alten Kleinkind - fanden dieses Restaurant schrecklich und können es auf keinen Fall weiterempfehlen. Man musste das Essen und Getränke an der Bar bestellen, okay. Speisekartenauswahl auch ok. Dann der Hammer....ich mache den Brei für unser Baby fertig und fragte ob sie dies nicht warm machen könnten, Mikrowelle oder ähnliches. Dann die Antwort, die ich immer noch nicht verstehen und vergessen kann, "sorry not for food from outside"......hallo? Das ist Brei für das Baby und wir haben gerade Essen und Getränke bestellt für £37!!!!! Wie unverschämt ist das denn bitte. Hätten wir das Essen nicht schon bestellt, wären wir sofort rausgegangen.Sehr schade, die Schotten haben wir an sich sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend kennengelernt. Nun gut hier wurde man eines besseren belehrt. Schließlich musste das Baby kalten Brei essen. Ok nun zu unserem Essen. Wir hatten den McNabs Burger. Es war der schlechteste und unappetitlichste Bürger den wir je gegessen hatten. Total angebrannt, geschmeckt nach alten verbrannten Grillfleisch. Wir können es leider nicht empfehlen.

Quite a large bar which is also the restaurant for the attached hotel. The hotel was quite busy but did not see 5hat many guests eating there but here is a big choice of eateries close by. Service on the slow side

This is a nice Bistro, with excellent food. We enjoyed our lunch there. I had a vegetable curry that was delicious.

Food was plentiful massive bowl of Spaghetti Carbonara (but they seemed to have missed out the garlic) wife had chicken curry and again she could not finish it. Annoying thing was you had to pay for each thing as you ordered it. So, had to pay for drink when we first went in, then meals when we ordered them, then more drinks half way through meal! Surely everything could be totalled up and paid at the end. Can't recommend the chips as they were those ones made up from potatoes that fill up with air when they are fried.

Perfectly sited on the banks of River Ness to attract lots of tourists and locals you'd think this could be a gem - but once inside, and despite the friendly and helpful staff, it's clear that you're about to be disappointed. Little thought has been given to creating a menu that would entice the taste buds. Despite a sizeable kitchen the term "bistro" can't apply to the food served here - it's a deep fry , pre-cooked, chain restaraunt fare that is served up. That might be ok if the price was right but it's pitched too high to be judged good or even acceptable value. We chose fish and chips, and chicken skewers - both heavily overcooked though the chips were reasonably good. Drinks were very pricey and the choice of bottled and draft beers was very poor indeed. This is a bad advert for highland hospitality and a dreadful advert for Inverness's prime riverside scene. Two good restaraunts within fifty metres of McNabs have shown the way - management should raise their game. So much potential but not being taken advantage of here.

Dinner was included as part of a deal in the hotel. Member of staff serving was a bit unclear about what was included but we did get there. My starter of tempura prawns tasted like a poor version from a frozen food specialist and my friends chicken satay tasted more like a light curry than a satay but it was a large portion. Mains of chicken burgers were large and fresh but unfortunately the inclusion of the mustard mayo with the fried and battered chicken made it very greasy. Dessert of cheesecake was nice enough but nothing special or interesting. The biggest issue with the place is lack of atmosphere.

Visited McNabs as part of a joint Itison deal with Columba hotel.Sat down for cream tea, no decaf for speciality coffees or tea, unusual now a days. Nice enough scone etc.Attended later on in the evening for evening meal. There were about three or four other tables of couples and a large group of holiday makers. Three members of staff working, clearly not speaking to each other, all looking very stressed out, no smiling and lacking any direction from a manager. Thankfully we got our order in before the large party, food arrived promptly, it was well presented and very tasty, however other tables waited a long time and were not happy; rightly so. It would have been full marks had the service not let it down.

We visited Mac Nab's once during our one-night stay in Inverness. It seemed decent enough and is located right at the river Ness, hard to miss. Food was good, bar staff was decent, prices were okay. It wasn't exactly a memorable stay but you could do a lot worse. We liked it.

Salade Caesar sans poulet (à payer en option). Et on doit commander nous même au bar et payer AVANT de manger...Nous nous sommes donc orientés vers un autre choix que la caesar.Résultat : Note à 30£ pour une entrée (haggis minuscule à 6£ mais excellent cela dit) et 2 plats. Pour le burger de mon mari, 4 frites et un pain d'un autre âge... Je mets 2 étoiles : une pour la vue exceptionnelle sur le château et l'autre pour l'entrée au haggis.Le personnel est très aimable mais tyranisé par un jeune patron qui a encore du travail pour bien comprendre le métier de restaurateur.
