A nice meal and range of food and drink in the old fire engine room. Sitting in the area where the fire engines used to deploy from until the mid 2000’s with interesting wall pieces.

Disfrutamos de nuestro almuerzo - - excelente tarta de espinacas y queso feta ensalada. Menú interesante con una buena variedad. Esperar un personal amable en un interesante lugar. Sin duda volveré de nuevo si vais a Carlisle.

Really great place to eat, Visited during our dog walk. We turned up with 4 dogs, one of them was huge and they were all welcome. We only went for coffee but stayed and had breakfast. Very quick and tasty

Visited on Friday 7th April, with my sister, "ladies who lunch" and all that. McGrews is in Carlisle's Old Fire Station, that has turned into an Arts/Music venue. The decor has been sensitively refurbished; and keeps it trendy but down to earth too. We had chilli nachos and vegetarian enchiladas- both reasonably priced, very tasty and good service. Nice place to drop in for a bite to eat or to visit for a show, loads going on by all accounts. Good to have on our doorstep.

My family and I visited here for a last minute late lunch. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere of the bistro is very relaxed with plenty of space in between tables which was nice. I selected a ploughman's sandwich and a coffee which were both beautiful. I will definitely return.

On this occasion I simply called in for an afternoon cake & coffee which was very good, excellent value & served by friendly staff in a pleasant environment. On a previous visit, on Sunday 25th September, I enjoyed a tasty lunch whilst listening to local Jazz musicians performing a jam session: an excellent afternoon's entertainment accompanied by good food at reasonable cost. The venue has only recently reopened after a full refurbishment, having been devastated by floods in December 2015 : see also "The Old Fire Station" at the same location, which has an extensive programme of live entertainment including music, drama, comedy etc. Well worth visiting.

I met a friend for lunch today at McGrew's and was delighted to see it doing great business. I had the pate with Cumberland sauce, bread & salad which was plentiful and delicious. The service was excellent. I would be happy to eat here again.

Located at the bottom end of town, its really handy if your in the city centre. Just head for the Old Fire tower. Went in for lunch with my wife and thoughly enjoyed it. Great staff and the food was very nice and affordable. If like us you struggle for somewhere to sit down for lunch then I would recommend a visit to McGrews. The cafe / bar is situated in a nearly refurbished fire station with bags of character and places to sit.

Visited for the first time with a friend who is a regular, and I see why. We relaxed in the comfy sofas and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Friendly staff, tasty food, reasonable prices. I hope this great little bistro, indeed the whole venue, continues to thrive.

Out with family (all adults) we were served quickly & politely. The staff are all quite young but well trained & friendly. My in laws loved their fish & chips, my enchiladas were fine, more of a wrap with sauce over them. The food is good value, everywhere is nice & clean. Great music & enjoyed sitting on the couches after lunch watching the world go by on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Lovely experience & would recommend for anyone wanting a lovely chilled atmosphere.
