McDonalds in York

Often come here with my family as it's right on my door step. But I do wonder why I bother. Often we have to wait 20 plus minutes for food with it usually wrong or something missing. Never have milkshakes/ice cream either!! Today the food was fine and came relatively quick for a change. On leaving though i was appalled on how disgusting it was outside! Every litter bin was full to bursting and over flowing with litter. There were milkshakes splattered all on the outside tables and on floor with more litter just left. What a filthy dump. Wish I'd of taken some photos. One of the worst macdonalds in the area along with the one in York city centre.

Food was fine but the staff are dire. Not one word uttered by the chap I paid with or the chap that gave me my food. Where is the service???

Full of ASBO Teens and LAZY dumb staff.... The ASBO electric-bike crowd using the store as a boxing arena and indoor cycle park had no issue being served, and their behaviour ignored, but try to order on the APP and zilch = totally ignored and sitting like dummies watching the free floor show!! When finally asked what the delay was, we were told that the staff "prioritise orders placed on the display points & drive through" not the APP and we should expect a longer delay as a result. Almost had the bonus of seeing one of the ASBO Teens ram a drive through car as he (the teen) was doing circuits the wrong way around the one way route = again, to the total approval of the store staff - well, possibly, but there was zero effort to clamp down on this or ask the ASBO Teens to leave/cam down - so MUST be the full approval.

Honestly must be a branch that hires stupid people who can’t even count to four, ordered 4 chicken nuggets got 3 , forgot cheese bites and the rest of the food was just terrible quality, also forgot the 2 dips, coming from someone who’s worked it fast food it’s really not that hard to get an order right especially at 11pm at night when it’s quiet no excuse, the woman who I assume is the manger due to her red tie was Incompetent and lazy and RUDE! when we asked if she had put our sauces in the bag ( rich tomato & BBQ) she threw two ketchup in the bag instead, can’t even be bothered to read the order will never go here again, terrible.

Normally don’t review fast food restaurants very much but had to be done today. Probably one of the best McDonald’s breakfasts I’ve ever had. Reason being it was very tasty and hot, I normally expect a warmish breakfast from McDonald’s but no piping hot , this includes the toffee latte I had that was actually made properly 👍👍

Second time we have used this outlet second time order was wrong. Last time they forgot something so we checked before leaving, sure enough they forgot something, they quickly rectified this. Got home only to find mozzarella balls in a 5 piece chicken select box, how does this happen. Fries cold and soggy too, lesson learnt we won’t be going back.

Needed a coffee, ended up getting a meal. Loud foreign speaking delivery drivers for 3rd parties as soon as went in. Pleasant McDonald’s staff, very polite. Forgot the sauce, not ideal, took ages due to all the uber eats lot as well.God knows how the staff put up with the loud and rude delivery staff! Yawn.

This maccas is definitely better than the clifton one. Only issue is stuff is sometimes missing out my bag at the drivethrough

We went through the drive through due to current restrictions and as we were eating the fries which had no salt on whatsoever I discovered a hair in one of the fries, to my disgust I sent them back to recieve an 'oh dear' response from the guy and an extra portion of cold fries as compensation. All in all this must be the worst trip to McDonalds in North Yorkshire health inspection needed at this one.

Ordered online from the restaurant and received cold food which was missing 2 items from the order. The delivery driver was rude and unhelpful. Contacted the restaurant but was told they couldn't help me. Abysmal service.

If I could give this 0 stars I would time after time I give it another chance as it’s the closest to my house and every single time the food is stone cold, order over £20 worth and there heads go and end up missing things from your order I contract all over the Uk and eat McDonald’s regularly for convenience and that is why hand on heart I rate this one as the worst You are better off going to bilbrough top extra 5 mins journey time that’s what I will be doing from now on this place should be closed or at least management overhaul to sort the place out looking at the other reviews it clear there are serious issues at this outlet that need to be sorted

This particular McDonalds is consistently poor. Living close to it means I have used it more than I should have done. On many occasions the food is cold, even when the order is made fresh as I ask for no ketchup on the burgers. The sauce has been missed off many times from chicken select meals. We ate in a couple of weeks ago and the condiment section was disgusting and people stood around looking lost instead of cleaning. We now use either the McDonald’s at Clifton Moor or one the A64 and both are much further away but the food is still hotter when we get it home compared this one - which says all you need to know.

York macdonalds always serve luke warm food but this branch also has lady staff that clear one table and never return to wipe the table or clear any more tables, too busy showing each other their facebook updates.

Visited two weeks ago. Paid for two Big Mac meals to eat inside. Because we were kept waiting I was able to see behind the counter into the food prep area. I’m so glad I did, it was disgusting. Apart from the overall uncleanliness behind the counter, the staff didn’t wear aprons or had their hair covered, one man who was putting the salad into the burger buns didn’t wear disposable gloves or use tongs to do this, he kept touching his face and was always hitching his trousers up at the front and pulling his T shirt, which all looked filthy, also he would go to the loo in this outfit and then come out to prep food. Apparently I was told they should wash their hands every so often, how often?, once a day? The man next to him dropped a fajita he was filling down the front of his trousers, caught it, then dragged it up his trouser leg then filled it with food and served it. Lovely. Everywhere was mucky, How this place continues to operate is beyond me. Surely they should have uniforms, an outfit they were when preparing food.Are all Macdonalds like this. Or are they simply franchises and they can operate how they like. Do they ever get spot check visits from the local health inspector. People must be desperate to eat here. It smelt of stale food, tables full of half eaten burgers, chips, no one to clear them. I did get my money back. Went to M&S and got a sandwich instead. If I could give it zero rating it would be too much.

Visited this branch numerous times over last few years as it happens to be the nearest McDs to where I live. The food is always luke warm at best and often as on this visit clock cold. Despite the food being cold the service is very poor and slow when compared to other branches of McDonalds. Other reviewers are also right to point out the inside is normally dirty which again is unusual for McDonalds. Although i do normally use the drive thru. Staff, mostly young school students probably on the minimum wage, or not outright rude but always sound board and disinterested in providing a good efficient service. Given there are several other branches of McDonalds in York I would avoid this one if possible. I only use it because the location is convenient for me.

I would give it no stars if I could. We got a drive through Breakfast and ordered egg McMuffin meals with extra egg and hash browns as both myself and my husband are vegetarians. Once getting to the window we were given the correct drinks which were next to our meal. As I’m pregnant and suffering from smells I scrunched the bag closed more to stop the smells and off we went home. When I got back I opened up the bag to find out we had been given meat breakfast wraps...I was very angry and felt instantly sick as not only were we given the wrong thing but they should double check to not give vegetarians dead animals. We got in touch with customer services and the bast they offered was a £5 voucher...the meal that we couldn’t eat cost £10!! When I questioned why it was half the price of what we spent they said it was in “good will” and said we would have to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get a proper refund. Disgusting response from a multimillion company, especially as they gave us a meal which goes completely against our dietary requirements and morals.

I have a review of a McDonald's which exceeded expectations -see my review "Bright,Clean And Cheerful" Tadcaster Road ,York.Well for every positive there is a negative and we found it here.First thing to note is how difficult it is to enter and park.Next thing on entering is how small and cramped the restaurant is with very few tables.We ordered and as seems to be the case in a few 'Macs' the chips were cold.Fresh chips were given but guess what, yes cold again! The third attempt found them to be acceptable.Leaving was just as difficult as entering with a queue forming to enable cars to leave the adjoining filling station.I can recall when this site had a now demolished sleepy 'Seat' dealership on it and they seemed to struggle for room.So how it can now accommodate both a busy filling station and 'McDonald's defys logic.Just up the road at Clifton Moor is another one and if you feel the need for a McDonald's meal my suggestion would be to go there as this one is - "CRAMPED AND UNWELCOMING"

Called at 1030pm on a Sunday night.Approximately 6 people eating inside, plenty of staff behind the counter but none on the shop floor where they were needed.Ordered 2 veggie wraps with chips and were told they were being made and sat down waiting.I saw the server, box up 2 sets of chips prior to saying our wraps would be a few minutes and when our food landed they must have been our chips as ours were cold.The floor was filthy, covered in tissues and dropped paper and the toilets were disgusting.How this McDonald's got 5* I don't know. They must give them out to the organisation than the restaurant. I feel that the name permits establishments to do what they want as customers will just come back. Well, I won't be stopping off at this McDonald's again and would advise you to give it a wide birth!

The worst experience ever, be very careful of the parking limitations at this McDonald's, if you eat breakfast and dinner at this facility, you will get a parking ticket. There is parking signage but at the rear of the property where it isn't visible to all.Appalling customer service, I will never eat here again and everyone I know will hear of my experience, unless I am made whole.I will be back with photos of my receipts and ticket and the parking signage.APPAULING!!!!!!

Called for a quick snack and drink and got wot I after Simple burger and strawberry milkshake just filling the spot

The worst McDonald’s ever.Tried on numerous occasions to eat here but we would never go back again.You are greeted by incompetent staff who are led by an even more incompetent manager.Got our order wrong (missing meal)by the time we complained our other food was stone cold (35 minutes total at the drive thru at 10pm) They said they would replace chips but not the burgers or melting ice cream.Re issued our order when we got home there was even more food missing than before (£5) worth of food missing!?! I complained via the website over two weeks ago and not even had a reply?!?How can you be so bad at customer service and re heating food?!? Shambles of a place AVOID..

We popped in for breakfast and sat outside with our dog. There was also a few other people sat outside with dogs. A lady came out with bowls of fresh water for all the dogs. That was a really nice touch. Always good whenever we visit

Called in on Sat 2 June placed an order for 5, not very many in, four tables free and all were dirty so we had to clean one to sit down. A young male staff member went to the table next to ours to take away a tray and left the table dirty but came back a few minutes later and sweep the floor still leaving the table dirty. If the back of house is treated the same as the front environmental health could do with visiting. Seating is also torn.

Got all the way home to find one of the meals missing. Not a happy bunny! Having to tell one of my boys oh sorry son your isn't in here!!!! Put value as poor as don't expect to pay for food that wasnt there!

This is a McDonald's like any other but the upstairs is hidden away which is a pity as it is much better than downstairs. The comfy settees make this a pleasant place to sit although if busy I am sure it would not be as good.

Our closest Macdonalds. Repeated visits and drive though, almost always get the order wrong. Reported on feed back to Macdonalds, and promised a call back from the franchisee, which never happens. Staff ignore people wanting to order in the restaurant. Very poor service.

Called here for breakfast en route to a shopping trip. Access to car park is a bit confusing due to its location near petrol station and a roundabout but ok. First impressions were of spotlessness from outside seating area through to toilets. Smallish downstairs but much more room upstairs. Staff are "more mature" than your average McD and very friendly and efficient. McMuffins were great and device quick. This is deffo THE best McDonald's we have been to.

We wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at this branch of McDonalds who are brilliant, polite and helpful every time we visit. They deserve to be recognised for all their hard work and high standards. THANK YOU ALL!

Great place love the upstairs , the self service machines are great and the table service is very good , nice place when you hungry and in a rush , good fast food

I've been here twice recently using the drive thru both times. The first time, there was a whole burger missing from the order. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, went back - same thing. Problem is, when you exit West, you can't easily turn around. It's no coincidence - this will be standard practice to fleece drivers. When you get the bag - make sure you've got your whole order - they owe me close on £10 now.

A very nice Mcdonalds, you know what you are going to get with the food, it may not be great food but it is cheap. It can be noisy and busy at times but if you get in at the right time you will get what you want.

Stopped here early on the morning on the way to York, as it's on one of the main a roads into york. Was greeted with a smile and girl said she would bring our order over when it was ready. Lovely and clean friendly service, nice breakfast

One of the nicest McDonald's I've been too, food was red hot which is rare. Staff are really nice, car park is a bit small though.

Ordered our food at Drive through, and was asked to drive to a bay to wait for our meals. Young Lad came out of restaurant carrying our food and simply stood there holding the bag out to us, instead of bringing it to car!!! I had to physically get out of car and walk across to the restaurant to collect it from him! The idea of a "drive through" didnt meet the mark that day

Dirty... really dirty. Chips and other food all over the floors, under tables, mooshed on to the seats etc. Cheap and grim.

Brand new mcdonalds and thought I'd give it a chance after my first visit and given an apple pie 3hrs over the time it should've been binned.

I have used the drive through on 2 occasions and found the service to be slow and very inefficient waiting approximately 5 minutes after ordering on 1st visit and nearly 10 on second stuck in a queue of cars! Only out of convenience I visited the restaurant and again despite not being overly busy a lot of people waiting for their orders and we had a wait of 10 minutes to get ours.

The worst McDonald's I've been to, I've had Mouldy food from there!!!! They have 1 job and can't even get that right, every time I come to this place they always give me the wrong order or forget my meal but what makes them stupid is it even shows the order up on the screen but some idiot seems to void one meal, then when you complain all they do is tell you to order it again no apologies, I wouldn't mind if the job was complicated but why is it so hard to get a burger? I really don't get it.

Another lovely visit, very friendly and attentive staff, clean restaurant, signature collection is lovely all ingredients fresh, the best McDonald's in York! Without a doubt!

Just did a Drive Through so did not experience the restaurant but the service was quick and efficient. As ever with Drive Throughs the road seems deliberately narrow and tortuous - difficult not to scuff tyres especially if you have long / wide cars. Missed the exit for parking but stopped at the adjoining garage shopping spaces. Will use it again for a quick snack and a drink. Watch the location map. It was wrong. The Restaurant is on the corner of the Bye Pass and York/Harrogate/Roads next to the Food Garage.

I visited this McDonalds with 2 of my 3 children and we were served by Florence who was a vey enthusiastic and polite young lady with an exceptional smile and evident passion for her work.

Went for breakfast as we were staying in the area. Okay not the easiest to find, but that is not their fault. The place was clean and tidy, not very busy but lots of staff and the food was correct, hot and tasted fine.

This place has clowns working for it they constantly get your orders wrong 9 times out of 10 the food is cold they keep you wating for ages . Give it a miss and go to other stores they own they do a better job

After getting a full refund from Premier Inn, Leeds East for not getting a breakfast booked for due to lack of room, we came across this McDonalds in our way into York. We were immediately impressed at the outside of the building, very modern and new looking. Inside continued to impress. You had the choice of ordering at the counter or using the self service machines. We chose the latter, took our seat and the food was brought to us. We always customise our order and it was exactly as we requested. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and a young girl was constantly checking. The toilets were spotless too. I spoke to the manager to pass on our compliments and she said that her boss was in. I passed on our comments to him too. I said that we are always fast to complain in this country but very slow to compliment. A compliment that was well deserved by the whole team.

Called in for lunch with my mum and daughter, could not find a clean table so had to use baby wipes to clean table and seats! That's is not even the worst ordered my daughter a chicken wrap happy meal and when I took the lettuce out as she asked got a bit of sauce on my finger so licked it of to discover it had spicy mayo on it, so I went back to the till to ask if this was right and all the man on the till could say was they must have picked the wrong one up! Not good enough to me what if my daughter had an allergy!!

I had an occasion to visit this eatery on the visit of 3 of our grandchildren who are resticted to eat a McDonalds by their parents but what happens at Nan's Sytays at Nan's! They blabbed!!

I went through the drive thru this morning and asked for an egg mcmuffin meal. The employee didn't seem to realise that they do such a thing and ordered me a sausage mcmuffin with "no sausage". It was greasy and nasty and not like any other McDonald's breakfast meal I've had in the past - won't be stopping there again!

New restaurant & take away, directly on the York bypass. Not difficult to access though leaving requires some skill, crossing busy lanes of traffic. Inside was not as clean as it should be, debris on the floor and seats, greasy 'film' on our table. The food was served quickly and was just fine (though they'd run out of the current run of kids' meal toys & could only offer past issues - not good for our 3) but the noise was so bad that we had to eat and exit as quickly as possible. Not the children, not the traffic, not the cooking - the constant, high pitched 'beep, beep' from the take away hatches. Dreadful. The staff say they've become immune to it but we'd rather not experience it again.

Called at 9 pm, worst McDonald's ever been to, filet of fish overlooked and dry, chips limp and warm, chicken select also dry and overlooked, if we hadn't been in a hurry would have taken it all back instead of continuing our journey.

This outlet only opened in December, 2015. The whole place is a new build and it shows. It is clean and spacious over two floors and everything feels new and fresh. There are even some tables with computer tablets to roam and play on!

This outlet is very new. Clean and spacious over two floors. Ideal for getting the laptop out and getting on with some catching up whilst enjoying a drink and snack. The service was very welcoming and friendly.

Witnessed an employee called 'Andrew' sweeping the floor upstairs which is fine, but then used the same brush to sweep down the seating. Putting his arms inside the bins to push the rubbish down and then handling surfaces that people are expected to eat off.

Have visited a lot of Mac's, and they are all basically the same. Service can vary between restaurants, but never had a really bad experience.

I came here late at night the other day, everything clean, really nice staff!! best mcdonalds i have been to!

Recently opened restaurant / takeaway / drive-through on the roundabout to the West of York where the A59 (Boroughbridge Rd.) meets the Northern Ring Road. Notable for it's fake wood cladding (i.e. railings, pillars, cladding panels in the loos, dividing screens, etc). As it is very new, everything was bright and shiny and very clean. While waiting to be served a staff member asked if we were paying by credit card because, if so, we could use an automatic self service screen to order our meal and she patiently went through helping us with this. Helpfully, there was a screen at the serving area showing the progress of our pre-numbered meal.
