McDonald's in York

As a contractor who works all over the country I can positively say this one here is the worst McDonald’s in the land and not just a one off bd experience as I live in York and gave this one many a chance this particular restaurant needs new management asap Kids who have zero manners serving and hanging up the phones on customers calling to complain manager basically called me a lier on the phone while trying to protect his inept staff after they decided to hang up on me not once but twice without letting me barely speak other than the bit where I tell them what I’m calling for ( nah can’t be bothered with this phone down) food is always wrong and usually also cold,drive that little further and go to the one on Bilbrough top services best in area

Worst McDonald’s I’ve ever had. Great service. The burger was tasteless apart from waaayyyy too much salt. Very watery. The tomato ketchup was also very watery.

I ordered 1 wrap of the day and it took over 40 minutes. That’s right I was standing around waiting for 1 item for almost an hour. Awful service and when the wrap came it was shocking, the workers must’ve forgot to add in the chicken. Overall 1/10

An absolute shambles. Saturday lunchtime, no fries!! Waited in the car park for 10 minutes until an employee brought my bag out. It was minus the ketchup, salt and napkins I had specifically asked for at the collection point. I sent him back inside but he only came out with the ketchup and salt. Back he went until he got it right. My Fanta was only half full too with no ice. Nobody cares a jot about the rubbish service. I will avoid this place in future.

If I could give no stars then I would. Ordered items for 4 people including 2 Big Mac meals. Everything was there apart from the burgers from both Big Mac meals…….how do you miss the most important thing…crazy.chips were ok but could have been cooked a bit longer. This isn’t the first issue with an order from here but I can reassure everyone, I won’t be using this place again

Yet again an incomplete drive through purchase. Incompetence doesn’t begin to describe how poor this franchise has become. Warning for everyone to check their bags before driving off as they rarely know what they are doing. Absolute shower.

You made the food 2 hours before the uber driver picked it up and couldn't even make.a fresh one knew full well it would.be un eatable after that long

Fed up of this place. Every week they miss something from my drive through order today it was a chicken nugget happy meal with no nuggets. These meals are no longer cheap I spent nearly £23. No one.cares and all they do.is give you a code for a free meal next time. Suggest they train there staff better who mostly are young and don't care if it's right or not

Yet another visit to McDonalds to be told that their milkshake machine is out of order. Unbelievable - get your act together.

What an absolute mess this restaurant is. I visited on 08/04/25 at 22:00 and was the only customer in the store. I ordered my food and could not find a clean table at all. The bins were overflowing onto the floor and flies everywhere in the store. No napkins to eat my food with. All the staff just messing around behind the counter and not looking to tidy up the absolute state of the place. It gave me concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen if the front of house looked like that. Very disappointing to see a once nice restaurant in such a mess.

This place is a total dirty dive! Went to get some desert at 9pm toilets upstairs were closed! Downstairs disabled toilet didn't flush and was dirty.. litter all outside, all the tables were filthy.. staff were simply rude.. literally threw the stuff on our table! NEVER again!!!! AVOID!!

Wrong order 2 times huffed and puffed with attitude when I mentioned this and she had to go down stairs again then another customer has just had his order wrong and the attitude on the staff is disgusting if it would of been a bloke I would of cracked him.

Always something missing from the order when collect through drive thru, or the chips are stone cold. Paid extra for the minecraft meal to not even receive the toy when purposely bought this one to get the collectible for my nephew, could understand if it was busy but it wasn’t - just half arsed effort constantly

The food was cold ...it took ages to be served and we went through the drive through..the lady on the headphones was over worked and I had to drive round to give her the last of our order as she was on her own. The staff looked miserable.

Had similar to others and had to wait for system update that could take 10 or 15 minutes. Then they seemed to prioritise online food orders. Took 40 mins to get food

I don't know why I keep going here. It's terrible. Nearly every time something is missing or wrong with the order. All things which are just careless inattentive mistakes. I've had boxes of nuggets with not enough nuggets, I've had a "plain cheeseburger" with no cheese in it! Today I ordered at the drive thru - a double cheeseburger meal, plus a single cheeseburger. Both burgers were single cheeseburgers, which I didn't discover until I got home to eat them, by which time I can't get it fixed. It's blatantly obvious that the staff don't care and that no one is holding them accountable for their shoddy service.

Not McLovin it. Arrived at the “24hr” restaurant on Sunday 9th March around midnight to be told at the drive though it’s closed for the “system update”, we have to come inside to order food. Fair enough, no worries, we shall. We were greeted welcomingly by a sea of chips and tomato ketchup smeared into the floor, and an irate gentlemen arguing with the manager. The manager was telling him he couldn’t order at the counter and needed to use the self-service machine. He was not a happy bunny. We started our order for 3 people at 1 of the self service machines, as we were about to finish the manger shouted from behind his counter to us “hurry up”. Being slightly confused I looked over at him for an explanation to which he told me “go faster with your order”. Lovely… Anyway, after getting the order back to my car and taking a bite into my chicken and bacon wrap, I would compare the texture, to a well worn, slipper. I think the chicken had been sat there a while. I ordered a large fries, I think I counted 6 chips… Have been coming here for years, has always been this bad, the “hurry up and order” has tipped me over into writing a review this time. Thanks

Waited 26mins for order even though not really busy they seem to be more bothered about deliveroo orders ordered burger with no pickles even had sticker on but had pickles this must be the worst macdonald's round here there's been something wrong every single time I've been here and don't get me started on delivery I've never had an order right yet

Crappy service with attitude, poor food. Left in the drive through while cars in the other lane were blasting through for like 15 minutes. Items missing off Norden and no dips with nuggets. Ripoff. 🤮

The food was pretty standard but the staff were disengaged. Service was slow and fish fingers were left out of a Happy Meal. It was annoying that they put on the screen that our food was ready to collect just after we ordered, but then took another six or seven minutes until they brought it to the counter.

Ordered 4 coffees at 10pm after a flight back into the UK and was looking forward to a decent drink. The toilets were closed and had to use the disabled toilet which was absolutely filthy with urine all over the floor and toilet paper everywhere. Service took at least 10 minutes for the coffee even though there were no other customers. We started to drink the coffee quite a few miles down the road and every single one of them tasted like they had cleaning fluid in them. They were absolutely dreadful with a chemical tinge to them. Back home with a raw throat and stomach ache now. Avoid like the plague.

Probably the worst McDonald's I've been to. Kitchen staff too busy chatting and slow making orders or not keeping an eye on food. Food serves flat cold chips and I mean stone cold. Then the coke had no syrup in. Asked for no pickles burger came with pickles. It was a floor manager who ended up fixing my order because kitchen staff was too busy talking about they're personal lives and whining they're holiday hadn't been approved yet. What a joke

Had to wait quite a long time NG time to get our order. It was very busy with takeaway drivers. I only got 5 nuggets instead of 6. The lift wasn't working and the car park was covered in McDonald's litter.

Over an hour wait an absolute shit show no apologies. Clearly can't cope with the home delivery function turn it off or put more staff on. All staff ignoring customers who had paid front of house

The floor was filthy. The tables were all uncleared. The waste collection point was filthy. All the staff hid in the kitchen, laughing and joking, except when they brought an order out.

Rather swamped by food delivery drivers and work vans where the young men had bad manners. Food ok but slow to be ready. Won't visit again.

How hard is it to follow an order? We collected an order last week and got home only to find out items were missing and the rest of the food was stone cold, despite only driving 10 mins home. We rang up and were given a code to replace the whole order... fair enough. We used the code today, waited for the order, as they said the nuggets were fresh, great! Got home to find the order was wrong... AGAIN. I should have checked it before we left but the person in the car behind started beeping their horn so we didn't. You'd have thought, given the circumstances, they would have checked that the order was correct. Very poor service.

Don't usually rate McDonald's but on this occasion I must make an exception all aspects of the meal were fresh and perfectly cooked by far the best McDonald's around

It a McD's Who got a Big Mac wrong! No cheese! When I took it back the person looked at it threw it in the bin, time passed. Eventually passed me another Big Mac mumbled something at me and walked off....not sure I think there was a sorry in there.....really glad I'm not local

No queue at drive through but still waited 10 mins for food. Ordered 2 chicken mayos and only got 1. Coke zero tasted like water. Bread of the cheeseburger was hard, stale and probably out of date. Coffee lid not properly attached so coffee leaked all over my new t shirt when taking my first drink. Avoid.

Can't fault the food as maccy Ds is Maccy Ds. However the place was filthy. Splattered flys on walls . just filthy and the floor covered in used food and extremely slippy. I'm disabled and the toilet was also dirty and was being used by everybody. I had to clean poo off the support bars just so I could have a wee . The lift to get upstairs didn't work so had to sit in the dirty area where , I'm not being funny the uber eats and delivery roo sat and vape unchecked , they seem to shout louder then a concerts on phones when we are trying to eat and generally dont give a hoot about anyone so so rude . I asked several times for the staff to tidy the tables and clean but that fell on deaf ears and left it so we cleaned it our self's with wet wipes . The coners of the restaurant is full of old food . Hygiene ratings must be a 2 for this place is manky. Putting us off the food . Just manky get a grip M

We had to take our food back as it was cold. They need to cook the food to order not cook loads off and leave it stood till someone orders it.

Disgusting McDonalds! Never seen anything like it, staff here were incredibly rude! One disabled toilet for use and was overflowing, staff couldn’t have cared less.. so we left without ordering! Whoever runs this place should be ashamed of their workers for their lack of manners and work ethic!!

Is it normal practice to have your delivery lorries park across all available disabled bays? I imagine if they had been occupied they would have to park elsewhere. So they should not be using them whatsoever.. I was unable to park and had to leave.

Everytime we have ordered through deliveroo we have received our orders incomplete so someone has to find an alternative. I understand the odd mistake with missing items but this is a consistent issue and needs resolving with improved checking service.

Ordered just a coffee, nipped to the loo which was filthy, and smelly. Coffee came eventually and it was cold, no froth on the cappuccino, more like a tepid Americano. Admittedly, it's an exception as it is usually good coffee, but please sort the loo's

Food is decent enough. Service isn't friendly at all and slow. Atmosphere is horrendous seeing as staff leave beeping going off non stop in the kitchen.

It was quite busy, toilets out of use, queue for drive in huge so went in to order it took ages and then found parts of it cold will avoid in future

This is one of their nicer outlets for seating but it's let down by not being tidied up regularly.

I had 2 orders 1 came and a manager gave it to me. We'll more like dropped it on counter and turned away. Did not even speak apart from nu.ber. the younger lady who did the main order was extremely pleasant and showed more of a customer service.

The price of McDonald's food keeps going up. We used to go as a treat but now the cost is on par with proper food in a pub. I'll be using Tim Hortons instead in the future as it is much better value. Well done to the staff who are always working hard to fulfill the orders.

Clean but not too tidy, and the staff seemed more interested in entertaining their friends than serving. I'm back for a second go, and it was much better this time.

Made the mistake of ordering from this McDonald's 3 times, each time the food is freezing and has been missing items, this issue was resolved the first time it happened however has not been the case the following 2 times it's happened, I will no longer order from here and I advise everyone else to order from an alternative McDonald's if possible or find somewhere else

Came through the drive though, ordered a happy meal for my little sister. The happy meal box was barely closed and open at the bottom aswell as not having a toy in it. I went through the drive through again left at the window for 10 minutes so I went into the store, to ask if they could change it.. the staff which were unseen started to complain. We were the only people in McDonald’s

Drive thru not that busy but incredibly slow for breakfast. It looks like they are making one order at a time. I'm at the service window and have time to write this. Huge line behind me now that has built up slowly. We're back! This time, cheeseburger plain seems to mean no cheese, and triple cheeseburger no pickle means no pickle and no mustard. Ok this should be my last visit. If I come back here it's my own fault. Drive thru order a plain cheeseburger but with cheese and ketchup. After back and forth we agree that what I need is cheeseburger "ketchup only", which is what appears on the screen. We get on the road and the cheeseburger has the full house of mustard and pickles. One ten year old without lunch. Thanks mcdurbrains.

Decent location and usually pretty consistent

Fries were Luke warm. Burgers were tasteless. Took them back and had replacement fries which were unsalted. Server didn't speak just gave the fries, guess they get that a lot. Restaurant and toilets were clean.

Incredibly slow service. Cold fries, and a suspiciously badly thrown together burger. Half of the contents missed the bun.

People kicking off at the desk for wrong food orders, every table filthy no staff around and toilets dirty with no toilet roll. It’s a quiet Monday afternoon and I’ve come to take my daughter for lunch. This McDonald’s is by far the worst, always getting orders wrong, no care and dirty

Do not order through app or in-store around midnight. Systems rebooting is one thing but being told to go in-store after putting in an order for drivethru collection is another. Made to stand around for 20mins while staff running around seemingly acting busy and doing their best to avoid eye contact (after order placed and told to go inside) is something I’ve never come across at any establishment before. Ignored by staff for nearly 30mins before we got the saddest looking maccies ever served with cold, sponge-like fries and dry burgers. Safe to say we’ve had better.

Slowest drive through in the history of McDonald's. 3 cars, small orders, 15+ minutes. Seems like too much volume from delivery services and not enough staff

Our food was stone cold ... we were travelling so went through the drive through so was unable to sort it out what a waste of money as we couldn't eat what we got!!!

The hygiene in this restaurant, is horrendous. Staff using there phones (imagine the amount of germs on the phone screen) and then making food. Seems to be a constant theme , that after 9pm , the managers seem to stop caring and let the staff do what they like. When I come in earlier , the managers and staff , look like they actually care.

Drive through was great but getting out of the site took ages too cramped road and parking system.

Apparently 1 and a half burgers, on a double quarter pounder, is an acceptable thing to hand a customer, manager is probably not going to do nothing, although he was feet away when I requested to see him, he flew around the corner and sent one of his minions. Fries were soggy and get this, the milkshake was warm.

Unfortunately this is probably the worst McDonald's in York. The service is slow, the majority of staff seem to be in no rush to prepare your "fast food"! The food is luke warm at best when served and you'll be lucky to get the correct order anyway. I'll be avoiding this one in future.

This particular Macdonald’s is consistently poor for getting orders correct. Three trips in a row now and something has been missing each time. You’re half way down the road by the time you figure it out. It’s also very slow service (for a macDs).

Absolutely pile of unorganized choas! Sometimes I wonder if the management are more useless than the staff, appalling waiting times wrong drinks served,cold drinks stood on side waiting for orders that's are clearly not in any numerological order!! And it's getting ridiculously expensive for lame service! The blonde woman manager about as much use a chocolate watch,I don't know what's happened to macs ds but it's a heap of garbage

Ordered food at 1058 was told only breakfast menu available.. Then got told had to wait in bay 1 for food.. Waited 14 minutes in car until food brought over...and tasted awful.. Put half in. Bin....

Lovely bacon and cheese flatbread. Yumeeeeee!
