Mayhill's Of Cockfosters in Enfield

When the food got to mine and my ex boyfriend’s table the rice was cold and the shish chicken was very chewy. When I came home I started to throw up!

5 people went and we spent around £250. The food took 1hr to come and was cold.

I’ve been to Mayhills before and the food was really good. They also had a DJ and a live saxophone player so the vibe was good. I therefore decided that I wanted to come back to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend. My boyfriend booked a reservation on 11 August for my birthday on 7th September. On the day of the reservation (my birthday), around 3 hours before the booking, he received a notification that Mayhills had cancelled our reservation. He then called Mayhills and was informed that there was a private function at the restaurant later that night so all bookings were cancelled. We said that this was unacceptable to be cancelling bookings 3 hours before the time. A member of staff said that we could still come but at an earlier time, so we (regrettably) did. When we arrived, there was no atmosphere, it was clear that they were clearing out the restaurant for the private function later. We were sat upstairs, and before we could even order, we were told that we have to be out by a certain time so we already felt rushed and unwelcome. Also, the decor upstairs was really tacky with staples and pins left in the walls from previous decorations. The fact that our starters were brought together with our mains made us feel like we were being rushed again. Additionally, the sides that we ordered with our mains were replaced with something different without informing us. They said it was because they had run out of the sides we ordered, but they still should have informed us so that we could decide something else for ourselves. Very poor communication from them. Our overall experience was really poor. They should not be cancelling bookings on the day (3 hours before). They should also not allow people to make bookings if they intend to host a private function on the same day, knowing that guests will not get a proper experience if they chose to dine at an earlier time. We should’ve just stuck with our usual restaurant in the area that never disappoints: Skewd.

Do not go here they rip people off. I ordered lamb chops and I got the necker lamb cut to look like lamb chops it was only a friend of mine at the event with us that spotted it and complained then they cooked us the lamb chops. Loud pointless music pretentious atmosphere no flavouring food overly salted everything was disgusting do not go.

This place attracts a certain type of clientele and that’s not a good thing for the area of Cockfosters. Outside the venue is a complete mess with gas canisters for used by the clientele from maybills to inhale balloons, broken bottles everywhere outside. Empty bottles of magnum, all Coming from Mayhills misfit characters. This is being reported to licensing. Recently a gang fight with knives outside premises. Drug dealing involved ever since this place opened.

Delicious Turkish cuisine I would recommend this one

Only had a drink but service was friendly. Nice looking spot. Will return one day to try the food.

Charged me £35 for 2 plastic cup tequilla shots (cheap tequilla at that) and a single very watered down plastic cup gin and lemonade. Charging uptown prices should at least have the decency to put in a proper shot glass. Criminal.

Great find, went here with some friends for a quick bite, great service, tasty fresh food and we loved our seating with the artificial fire. Would return

I don't very often five 5 stars but Mayhill's is excellent in every respect, food, service and atmosphere. The sandwiches we enjoyed very much, the fruit juice was chilled and fresh and there's a nice buzz which is not overwhelming. All that and the staff are lovely.

Unmatched vibes, delicious food and most amazing atmosphere all provided by the incredible staff. Keelee in particular is fantastic, bubbly and attentive, always going above and beyond to make sure we’re all having the best time, a true credit to the team!

I attended for an event on 4th May - there was an AWFUL mixed race girl who worked for the venue or event and she proceeded to scream in my face on two occasions. The venue need to be more aware of the insane members of staff they’re employing. At no point should that DREADFUL mixed race female (blonde) member of staff think it’s appropriate to scream in paying customers face. In future I would NEVER attend the venue.

Great place for a brunch or lunch. Service was attentive but relaxed enough for you to not feel hurried or rushed out.

Food was good but could have been better. This place is all about the atmosphere there , you must experience it yourself- only Friday or Saturday 😁

Delicious food & awesome atmosphere. The music was brilliant, with the added bonus of a live saxophonist & gorgeous samba dances!

Ruddy great breakfast for a fair price. Situated next to its main competitor, Middeys, Mayhills can match the quality and atmosphere with great staff too. For those who thought the new Shakespeare’s in Cockfosters would make any impact on these 2 giants, need to think again. Shakespeare’s wants to match the upmarketness of Mayhills and Middeys, but need better attention to detail. Anyway, I digress! The breakfast we had on the day was absolutely fantastic. Great portions, lovely presentation, cooked to perfection and tasted oh so delicious 😋. Staff are very polite and attentive and restaurant is always clean. Highly recommended to everyone as it’s very kid friendly too.

This place is great on Friday to Sat evening i went on quiet night Middle of the week. But the service was terrible food was horrible I ordered King prawns no flavours mash potatoes were dry where was the sauce. Wasn't happy. Thats a first for me.

Celebrated my birthday here last Saturday and I cannot fault this place. Great food. Great cocktails, great music and dancer was fun too! Customer service was great too! If you’re looking for a fun evening out then I recommend this place

Restaurant was only half full but the staff completely forgot about us. Took the waitress over 20 minutes to come to our table after we sat down to order, and then only came by again to bring the food. I had to get up out of my seat to find the waitress to get the bill to pay and leave. Restaurant looks really tired compared to when I went last year - many of the lights in the lamps across the restaurant are off and need replacing, others are broken and flickering. Upholstery on the chairs and seats are ripped and breaking apart. On top of this the food + menu is very expensive for standard Turkish grilled meats. The food did taste good when it came, although can get this for the same price or less in the myriad of turkish and Greek restaurants in the area. Overall incredibly disappointing. Don't think I will be coming back again.

We went to celebrate new year.We were 8 adults and 2 children. Before our booking,they gave the information about New year’s programme.They said that there were dj,belly dancer and dancer girls show. but none of it happened.No belly dancer no any show.After new year,they changed as club music.Also I asked that you could accept children?They said yes.But A lady came and said they couldn't accept children after 00:30 o’clock.İt was a terrible organization for new year.We just ate. They don't keep their promises.I will never go to Mayhill’s of Cockfosters.I cant trust their words.Also we paid 120 per person without drinks and service charge.

we been over charged after paying £480 for table they try to charge us extra money for service charge and soft drink i dont recommend this to any one dont waist your money

The staff was incredible and helpful.Entertainments,dj are with great vibes.The mix grill we had in was delicious.We will definitely return soon.Thank you guys.

Really excellent evening in mayhills kitchen.Have been there couple of times.The last time it was Turkish night.Amazing music,singer Kerem and the belly dancer.Wonderful atmosphere,lovely food and welcoming staff.Highly recommend

The best thing was the music. It took almost an hour a half for our orders to be taken. The complimentary prosecco didn't come for 2 hours and we had to ask. The starter was prawns and this came with nothing until we had finished and we were then served bread. The main wasn't great. Lamb was fatty the chicken shish was nice. The salad was probably the best part. The entertainment was amazing loved the two Brazilian women. We paid a deposit and then was charged the full amount and was told our friend needed to send us back the deposit. Wouldn't return unfortunately

Had brunch here earlier and absolutely loved their Manhattan breakfast ! Reasonable price with a gorgeous portion . The pancakes were loaded with lots of fruits which I really enjoyed. Though , they could do much better with their hot chocolate, instead of it being a bit watery. Overall, enjoyable and satisfying experience , would return !

The foods is nicely cook but the portion size wahooo so small £30 for 1per meal.

We dined and had a party here. The atmosphere was lovely. Staff are so friendly and hospitable. The service was great and fun. It was a great night, and I will definitely return. The entertainment was also so exciting. Thank you for a lovely evening.

It is an overpriced restaurant that is pretending to be a luxury place, however, their service and atmosphere are far different with a real luxury restaurant. For the price they charge the service is disappointing. The gents toilet was so dirty which is shame for a restaurant which pretending to be a top level restaurant. The atmosphere wasn’t really enjoyable as the music was playing suited teenagers and the level of youngsters gathering there wasn’t really nice as a group of police officers were looking for some of them outside which made the atmosphere so uncomfortable. The only positive point was their food which had a very good quality. I don’t recommend this overpriced low level restaurant.

Very poor experience. Food overpriced and extremely poor quality. The tarama was neon pink and had the texture of wallpaper paste! On requesting if the octopus (priced at £30) could be served with chips instead of the mash that was on the menu, we were informed that was possible but would be an additional £5!! The so called Friday night entertainment consisted of one fire dancer who performed twice and briefly passed our table - don’t be taken in by the advertising poster. The restaurant had a general air of underhandedness and certainly won’t be somewhere I would recommend to any discerning diners. Will chalk this down to experience…

Really really expensive ... £5 for a soft drink ! Food wasn't great ... prawns were unedibile..chicken tasted synthetic. 1 soft drink 1 beer 2 starters 2 kebabs £100 !!! Worse meal I've had .

We were so looking forward to the evening, advertised as a ‘Caribbean Night with DJ’ - apart from 2 others who left by 8pm, we were the only 3 people in there - no DJ, no Caribbean menu, no Caribbean music - hate to say, no atmosphere! But the kicker, 2 of the chicken kebabs came out the kitchen undercooked! Waitress overly apologetic and made a suitable adjustment to the bill but ……

Visited Mayhill’s for the first time last night and my friends and I absolutely loved it! The food was exceptional, the tiger prawns were hands down the best we’ve ever eaten! The drinks were delicious, the service was excellent. The DJ and belly dancer were great but we would’ve liked more entertainment for a Saturday night but other than that we’d highly recommend it.

The food here is very flavourful and the atmosphere is great. I have been on 2 separate occasions and wasn’t disappointed either time.

Outrageously expensive bar (London prices) in a cramped, noisy, environment. They even had the cheek to charge a 12% service charge on drinks bought at the bar!! Was there for a friend's special birthday celebration but you couldn't chat as they music was so loud.

My daughter booked a table for her 21st (3 weeks ago) and was told the morning of her booking (a bank holiday weekend) that they now didn’t have a table ! Offered no real explanation only that the receptionist forget to cancel the booking 2 days ago. No thought that it was her 21st, and no good will gesture offered

I use to go to this restaurant quite often and been to a few of there events. I do not recommend going there as the staff do not care about you. You can make a booking there in advance and they will happily cancel your table a few hours before if they are able to get people who are better looking than you in there or are famous.

Me and my friends booked a brunch 2 weeks in advanced and this was for my friends birthday. On the day 9:30am on an Easter Sunday bank holiday weekend we was told there “ receptionist” messed up the bookings and there was no space for us. We wasn’t offered anything else not to come to the after party or even a drink on them for the next time we come. It’s disgusting and let’s be honest it was a thing where we was replaced by other people they preferred the look of. As it was their “mess up” they could have done loads of things to make up for it and all we got was a “sorry you cannot come”. I will never go back now as they seem to think it’s a Mayfair club and only care for peoples images.

Its okay. Staff were nice. I love the starters but not much with the mains and desserts. Long wait for each food orders to come. There were 3 desserts on the list not available. But It's okay. Though I realised that I still paid for the dessert that was not available. Lol (hope they would respond to mu email) 🤭🤭🤭

Was here for a birthday party, which they closed off upstairs for us, nice place with a lot of history. The food was normal looks good for pictures but taste normal, we had a bit of everything, nothing wrong with nornal☺️ Staff where nice took time out to interact with me and my brother. What started off as a regular dinner, turned into a very lively party like atmosphere. There was a live musician/DJ, who was playing a saxophone and then later two samba dancers kept us all entertained. A really fun evening. The food was good too. Would highly recommend for a fun evening out in Cockfosters. Book in advance though or you’re not likely to get a table.

Waiter and environment very good. Food great. Did not get 5 it is slightly expensive but apart from that would definitely recommend people to go.

I saw a lot of good reviews so I wanted to try it out. The price does not justify the food quality and service. I would like to say that I did not complain so I don’t know what would have been done but wanted to give an honest review. The staff are friendly but tired and our cutlery was served in 2 parts with us requesting for them 2 times. Drink order forgotten. Shrimp dish was £13 for a starter but the shrimp was boiled and had a watery dressing. I ordered the chicken burger and the chicken was not hot and tasted very salty. The bread also was not good quality it fell apart and didn’t hold the burger together. Standard Iceberg lettuce was chopped and for £16 was expecting a better quality ingredients but it felt very low quality. Fries were not cooked well they were very white. I see that delicious pics are posted and could be that the restaurant specializes in other meals which I look forward to try and review next time. Gutted

Excellent night yesterday at this lovely restaurant. We came to celebrate my hubby's birthday and they were super. They cocktails were inventive and delicious, food was spot on, served from the open kitchen in timely manner and nicely presented. We were looked after by the warm and competent waitress, that made us feel home. The restaurant itself has an understated elegance I love. Will come back😇

I absolutely love this place. In this restaurant you can not only eat delicious food, but also drink a delicious cocktail. The waiters are extremely pleasant. We visited this restaurant with my boyfriend and he really liked the food, especially the meat dishes. I am sure that if you visit this restaurant you will be pleasantly surprised.

The new signature cocktails are amazing!!! I really loved it! The food, ambience, cocktails, and especially entertainment it's a different level of experience. They will make sure that your night would go superbly! I can't wait to go back there!

Was skeptical about going here as I’d heard mixed reviews but thought we’d try it out… firstly this restaurant is the size of my living room (TINY) they have entertainment on a Friday and Saturday which we thought would be fun, well, it wasn’t. This place is far too small to have belly dancers, some guy walking up and down playing the saxophone and people dancing! The music was also TOO LOUD, we might as well have gone to a club. It was just me and my friend and we couldnt have a proper conversation all night, in all honesty we couldn’t wait to leave! We also waited around 30 mins for some bread, and starters didn’t come for at least 45 minutes. The food itself was average and well over priced, will not be returning and utterly disappointed. Please AVOID if you want a quiet meal where you can have a conversation!!!!

Don’t waste your time! went here for a friends birthday, waited hours for food, the service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was closed to the public and we weren’t a massive group! The foods over priced for what it is (basically kebab)! The salad i’ve never seen anything like it before, no dressing , not mixed and not a lemon on site! They gave us a tiny basket of bread with no cold dips and considering how long we had to wait this was the least they could have done. They cheekily tried to add a service charge on every now and then on some of our drinks, which they refunded when we confronted them. I may be wrong but i think their tactic is to serve slow so you order more of their expensive drinks and i honestly don’t know how they cope on a normal day when they’re open to the public as they couldn’t cope with such a small group!! Never again!

DO NOT BOTHER GOING!!!!! Absolutely shambles, unorganised, bad customer service, got there at 9pm, food came at 11:30pm! The only good thing was the music!! Unless you’re a wannabe gangster or fancy a one night stand don’t bother!

Good food, Good entertainment. Music was really good, has a salsa lady dancing to entertain the night and get everyone up and dancing and live jazz music in the background ( which i loved ). Only downfall was the music was way to loud, as we was near the speaker and couldn't hear each other. Would definitely go back again.

I came for a meal for my mothers birthday the music is so loud in here I can not hear a thing it is insane how loud they are playing the music, I asked my family also what they think , too see only hand gestures and waving(I couldn’t hear them).

The staff at Mayhills are amazing! We had our Christmas party there last night and to have served 50 of us was a hard task. They made it look easy! Service with a smile and nothing was too much. Everyone was so impressed at how good the food was. Such a lovely venue. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Worst restaurant experience, went there at 9pm on Friday 9 December our food turned up after complaining but for only half our table at 11.30 the rest of the group finally got theirs at midnight, they did not charge us for the food in the end but I will never go there again, plus 2 single toilets catering for about 200 customers it was a joke.

We were sat upstairs, on a table for 2. My friend and I were disturbed on several occasions throughout the evening, by staff moving tables and chairs around for larger tables - seemed a little unorganised if I’m honest. I was even asked to get up out of my seat to allow the staff to pass with a table, which I found rude / frustrating… and had to ask if I could sit back down now that they had finished! Staff shouted around us about tables and accepting bookings “when they didn’t have the space to accommodate people”.. Staff also stood over us / right by us throughout the night, which again was off putting. All of the above ruined our ‘experience’ at MayHills and would probably stop me from returning to the restaurant. I’ve heard such good things but it didn’t live up to what I was expecting. And as for the food, it was nice but nothing extraordinary, same goes for the cocktails.

We went there for our Christmas party( i wish we never did) We had booking and the waitress couldn’t find it We had to wait someone to get up so we can seat They gave us the worst table ever by the door Ever time the door open we were freezing was sooo cold( door open constantly) We ask if is possible to change our table they were rood and the answer was next time boked table. I told them we did had a booking and the waitress was next tome be more specific where do u want ur table 😤Im here firs time how im supposed to know where are the tables. We staid less then 2h and left Horrible service we had to wait for everything,cold food, customer service -0 Never again don’t recommend this place

Please do not waste your time. I came here with my partner for our anniversary. We usually go to skewd however thought we would check this place out. As soon as we arrived we were waiting at the front of the restaurant and were not even acknowledged. I had to interrupt a waiter who was serving else to let them know we had a reservation after waiting 10 minutes. Once we were finally told that our table was ready, it only had 1 chair. My partner was standing for 5 minutes whilst he waited for a chair. The location of our table was horrible. Right next to the stairs with a large boxed flat screen tv next to us. We asked to move however was told there was nothing else available. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to bring us a menu once again we had to flag a waiter down to ask for this. We waited 2 hours and 4 minutes exactly for our food to arrive. When we asked how long the food would take we were told “it’s coming” I’ve never experienced such poor service before. The rice and bulgar was cold and the lamb ribs and shish were extremely chewy and not good cuts of meat. Whilst eating we had large groups of people hanging around, and constantly brushing our table when walking past which wasn’t enjoyable when trying to enjoy a meal at all. I truly regret coming here as I have never experienced this at Skewd as their service is absolutely amazing, and food is always high quality. In total we spent £274 on starters, mains and drinks. I really wanted to try a dessert however after the terrible service and waiting time I didn’t even bother. Our waiter could only apologise for this expressing “other tables are also waiting over 1 and a half hours for their food I can’t do nothing it’s the kitchen” Please do not waste your time coming here at all. I truly would not recommend and will not be returning.

What a great restaurant. Beautiful venue, amazing atmosphere (with dancers/saxophone musician), friendly staff and delicious food. Perfect to take friends and family. I really recommend it and I hope to visit again soon. All the best!

Terrible experience, I had a booking and they still couldn't accommodate me. The security decided who goes in and who not. Clearly racist they understand I was Albanian and didn't allow me in. But some English ladies without booking were able to go in

Lovely staff nice place but the entertainment is far too loud, we finished and left as it was just impossible to even converse with our fellow diners. If they could just lower the volume it would help, I recently went to a place in Marrakesh that had entertainment, that was fun but not deafening. Just need to get the volume right

Amazing food and lovely staff. However the Turkish night was disappointing. We went to celebrate my friends birthday. The dj was constantly on his phone. Keep repeating tunes. It was not entertaining at all. We left early because of this.

We were told we had the table for two hours. First course was good. Second course, all the meat was dry thus making hard to swallow. We waited over 20 minutes for the staff to clear our plates. Whilst we were waiting to be offered the dessert menu’s the door woman came up to us and rudely told us we had 15 minutes left and we had to give up the the table. When I told her about waiting for our plates to be taken and still waiting for our dessert menu’s, she didn’t care and just tempted the same thing. So we just paid the bill and left. I will never go back to this place again and would never recommend to anyone to go there, especially if you have a special evening planned.

Good quality food, we had the lamb shish and lamb chops with rice. The meat was not hard or dry and tasted just right 👌🏿.

We made a reservation for 7 on a Turkish night (Thursday) and had a wonderful time. Dj Seyfi was great, food was tasteful and staff was very attentive and helpful. Highly reccomend it and will be back.

Amongst the best steaks I've ever tasted. We came for lunch with friends and had an amazing meal. Everyone chose steaks and thoroughly enjoyed them. Full of flavour, juicy, cooked perfectly and delicious seasoning. Served wuth grilled veg which I devoured too. Desserts were perfect. Along with fabtastic service it made a thoroughly enjoyable meal, will definitely come back.
