Went on Friday for the first time after the good reviews and we weren't disappointed. We ordered Char Siu Cantonese, Special Curry, Triple Crown and Chicken with bamboo and water chestnuts with a mix of fried rice and chips and everything was gorgeous!

Best chinese in the whole of wirral unfortunatly doesn't deliver. But worth the walk. I wouldn't have chinese from.anywhere else.

Amazingly this is the first time I have ordered from here. My regular is usually the orchid but they were closed, and with this lead me to finding another( sooo hungry ). Absolutely not disappointed at all. Probably the nicest chips I've ever had from a chippy. They were light and not greasy, nor a bad chip in sight. We ordered Singapore vermicelli and garlic, chilli chicken with chips for under £14 which was plentiful and delicious. Also a very quick service. 15 minutes after calling...excellent. Will definitely be going back to try other dishes on the menu.

Just phoned up and ordered a few items and whoever the lady was on the phone was rude and arrogant. As I was talking to her she said for me to hurry up and tell her what I want, as I’m in the middle of saying it to her. I’m not slow and I was talking to her quite quickly anyway as I’m assuming they’re busy. Absolutely disgusting how she spoke to me over the phone. If you want customers, treat them with respect as they are paying money into your business. Definitely will not be coming back again

I've been going here for more years than I care to remember. They've never let me down.

Absolutely awful. Ordered special fried rice and chips. It was not fried rice it was boiled. Big gungy sticky balls of rice and tasteless. 2 thin pieces of chicken, 2 small pieces of pork. No slices of beef like it used to be, the beef was tiny diced pieces. The chips were oven chips too and old brittle chips mixed in. It was always a treat coming to this place but they are definitely cutting corners and the customer suffers. Wont be coming back Ever.

Nancy is super lovely, we moved to Wales three years ago and still love coming back to Wirral just to have a takeaway from the Mayflower! It’s a real treat, always fresh and delicious food and the biggest credit is to Nancy, she literally works non-stop but remembers everything about you! She even remembers that my favourite dish is prawn toast even though she probably has hundreds customers every day! ❤️ Nancy can you please consider opening a restaurant in Wales too? Saves us driving to the Wirral 🙂

So good! It was my first time trying tonight, but won’t be my last. The food is so fresh and flavorful, and the customer service was the best. I ordered the chicken chow mein and the “triple crown” with egg fried rice. The chicken chow mein is rich and lovely, but still very light. Perfect egg fried rice, and the “triple crown” was such a welcome surprise. Definitely ginger-forward, and a beautiful blend of beef, duck, shrimp, veggies, pineapple, and more. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks for making me feel so welcome!!

It’s Nancy she knows. THE best Chinese this side of the Milky Way. I’ve had the chicken fried rice, salt and pepper chicken and the crispy beef. All lovely!

A recent find for us - a pity we didn’t find it before now. Lovely food and service. Good prices. Kung Po special wasn’t on the menu but they made one for me anyway. My new Chinese take-away go to. Highly recommended.

This was the most disappointing Chinese we have ever had. We ordered special fried rice that was cold sticky and boiled not fried. The spare ribs we ordered were cold and we ordered meat spring rolls but were given veg spring rolls. Also the customer service was appalling and we will not be going back again. Much prefer Full house on balls road but it is shut on a monday sadly.

The Mayflower is a lovely takeaway I call in on my way back from Anglesey on a Sunday evening even though I live in Liverpool because it's clean the staff or friendly nice food this my opinion

Not much to say about the atmosphere in the shop. Its simply a takeaway but it's a great one at that. Always great quality and tasty food. Shame there's no delivery from the mayflower as it had a great reputation.

Best Chinese on the Wirral. Nice flavours and not like the other local ones which all taste the same. We had salt and pepper chicken pieces, ginger and spring onion chicken, boiled rice and chips and curry sauce. All of which were gorgeous and the prices are reasonable. Portions are are a good size, we had enough for four plates of food.

We get food from here regularly and enjoy it very much. Freshly cooked, tasty and fairly priced. Service is always quick and friendly. Very good local takeaway.

Top Bombing. On entering I noticed how clean it was (good sign) staff were helpful and friendly. Most importantly the food was lovely. Highly recommended.👍😉

Insane customer service, allow me to clarify my position. I went last night and was bollocked by Nancy for not previously requesting vinegar on mY chips. Okay, put that down to experience. Tonight I went full of hope,they reckon it's good here, remember, so I made my intention clear. Fried rice, because last night the brick of steamed rice was inedible, so I thought, okay, give it a second chance. The chips and curry were delîcious last night. I said that I wanted chips with a little soy and lots of vinegar, then the curry, and some fried rice with just a little soy sauce. It was such an effort with eye rolling nonsense that I said"forget it". I was then assailed bY a pair of classic entitled Oxton twirlers who ñeed a spell in the army.

Always have the four seasons and it never disappoints.

Delicious Chinese takeaway. I find some takeaways can be over greasy and can leave you feeling sluggish, however Mayflowers food is always very tasty and fresh. Sometimes very busy but worth the wait. Cash payments only. Good service.

I have been going to this TA for many years. Absolutely astonished that they have hiked up their prices! Ok I get what we’ve all been going through, but an increase of a third and a poorer meal? I won’t be going back.

I'd go out on a limb and say the best chippy in Wirral, certainly in Birkenhead. Friday is always packed but the food is absolutely delicious. Be prepared to carry the right cash for your order though.

The food was hot and surprisingly really nice. Portions are massive and food is cheap for what you get. I recommend getting a duck dish.

We’ve been visiting Mayflower since we moved to Oxton, it’s truly the best food we’ve ever tried. After the long working day it’s a real treat. I must admit that even my fussy toddler loves their prawn crackers. It’s always perfect, literally always! Nancy is lovely, hardworking and very polite as well as the chefs, prices are reasonable and portions are big. So we’re well happy with that! We've been getting takeaways from here for years and years and it never fails to impress. Always excellent, fast service too For me, this place is the yard-stick all takeaways have to meet... Few do takeaway food as well as the Mayflower in Oxton.

Not very impressed. Our usual reliable takeaway was shut so tried here. Fish was awful, most of the batter was full of air as the fish portions were small and broken into pieces and the batter was hard and dry. Fried rice was tasteless and dry. Chips were very good however, not greasy. Won’t visit again.

Best Chinese takeaway in the country! Salt and pepper chicken pieces are too good to share and the bbq sauce is delicious. Good size portions and food is always ready quickly. The Mayflower is forever busy - always a good sign! The hot and sour soup could be better and I agree with other reviewers that the chips are oven style... but I’m just sure never to order these items... a small sacrifice as every other dish is delicious!

We picked up dinner yesterday from the Mayflower. Called our order in, she said it would be ready in 10 min. (our walk time over there). It was waiting when we got there. Good size portions (way more than we got in Chinatown in L'pool) for less money. (We had leftovers for today.) We paid 11 pounds for 2 dishes. Generally the food was tasty. I had the special chow mein with crispy noodles and various types of meat & veg. My husband had the beef with chili and garlic. The only complaint I have is that the pork and one other meat in my dish were cooked earlier and tossed in and reheated. Reheated meat has a very distinctive flavour which I don't care for. I'll choose something next time that won't have that problem, because we certainly will go back. 'Mrs. Mayflower' was very nice and friendly too. Cantonese and Peking dishes - good variety (some English dishes as well)

Not much you can say about it, food is your usual Chinese/Chippy food, prices are reasonable. In a great spot by all of the bars in the middle of Oxton Village.

Food is nice and tasty. A pet hate of mine is coming out of a place smelling of that environment and this is such a place.

Awful quality Chinese food, cheap ingredients used and everything is pre packed. Don't waste your money.

If it's not Nancy on the desk be prepared to be spoken to in ropey way! In all honesty it trades on it's reputation and the fact that most Chineses taste the same. Better than Oceans up the road (avoid - rank) but new Bamboo lounge on Wellington Road beats it hands down.

Incluso el curry no pudieron ocultar el sabor. Whether it's fish n Chips or full on Chinese banquet food this is the best place to go. Everything on the menu is fab. Staff are speedy & efficient & always offer good service. Handy location if drinking in Oxton.

not very helpfull at all ,15 minutes wait for food to be cook that is acceptable . food was nice and hot .but what the ? no taste really bland never seen food this poor sweet and sour was so bitter it was like chewing a lemon hot and sour soup weak bbeek and green pepper black bean sauce no taste beef tuff and stringy chip like card board worst food in this area upto now tried 3 others so far . oh and the rice over cooked and hard .my score out of10 1

i never complain because i dont want to but this is the worst customer service i got from ordering a takeaway. we live by heswall and went all the way to birkenhead to order takeaway here. my boyfriend was trying to order and he is from greece and not really familiar about chinese food so he ordered egg fried rice and wants prawns separate and the vile woman made a face like my boyfriend is stupid and said "what do you mean prawns separate its already in the fried rice" but that is why he is asking but she just continued making that face instead of explainig his options but we juat thanked her for being rude and just left

The Chinese food is very nice from here compared to some others. Good value for money and classic english, chinese dishes.
