I’ve been here a few times and normally find the food reasonable but £26 for this? I’ll leave it to you to decide.

Ate in the bar but didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms. Beer is excellent, food good value and tasty, and the staff friendly and helpful. The log fire was a terrific bonus on a chilly and wet night.

A visit for a drink and lunch was very good. The location by the river is picturesque, and the atmosphere is pleasant, Dog friendly too.

Came here 2 years ago. That’s why we didn’t eat here this time. Service was terrible and one pint was off and again had to wait well over 10 minutes to get it replaced with a different Beer. A smile from the Bartender would have been nice.

The location of this hotel hides a lot of the issues I had with it. The rooms were ok. We had a dog, so we were in one of the small rooms. They were a bit dated but ok. The food was, at best, average. Very weirdly, there seemed to be a shortage of fresh fruit and veg in that part of the world. It wasn't cheap by any means. The drinks were downright expensive. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. The waiting team and the hotel team were all very pleasant. Was nearly £500 for 2 nights in an average hotel worth it. Sadly not.

We chose this location for our wedding in 2023, and have returned several times since (which is the wonderful thing about a public venue). We visited in May 2024 for supper and chose fish (plaice for my husband and hake for I) which was perfectly cooked, and accompanied by seasonable vegetables and sauces which simply matched and enhanced the flavour of the fish. We just about had room for desserts. The service is attentive without being intrusive and the ambience, views and history of the Master Builder's are hard to beat.

We stayed 2 nights in the Henry Adams wing where we have stayed many times before. Clean and comfortable room though the bathroom needs some tlc to bring it up to scratch. We ate in Henry's bar where the food was tasty and well presented but £6 for a single portion of one vegetable we felt was extortionate. The haddock was a smaller fillet than in the past but sufficient for my appetite. All in all this is a lovely hotel in an unparalleled situation. We will return.

The hotel is lovely, quirky with a great atmosphere and a friendly staff. The food was, overall good, although I think the Harry’s Bar menu could be more interesting. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed in the Henry Adams wing, the rooms do need some thought and TLC. Ours didn’t have anywhere to hang clothes except in the bathroom, which would be steamy, not ideal for clothes. The shower didn’t work, I guess a plumbing system that can’t deal with a full house of customers. When the bath water emptied out it bubbled up through the toilet. We will go back, but not to the HA wing unless there has been some investment made. I really don’t think it’s a £161 room. We did enjoy our stay overall, but elements were disappointing.

We went to this pub for a meal as it is the only one here.... so no competition and sky high prices. £44 for a bottle of basic Cote de Rhone, £20 for fish and chips. £8 for a sausage roll.... Which would have been tolerable if the seating had been comfortable. The benches along the wall all have decorative wooden trim rails which dig in your back. When I mentioned this to the staff I was told there used to be cushions but these have been removed and not replaced. I think someone else left a review saying go here for a drink but nothing more. I agree that's a fair recommendation.

Food was good and service excellent, the only thing that spoilt our visit was the children running around the bar area, playing in the toilets and not being supervised by their parents. Not what you would expect from a wine bar.
