Four of us ate here. The vegetarian meze was nice and the contents of the lunch special wrap were nice. The problem was the service. It took an hour to get any food after various chasing. They add a fairly hefty 13.5% service charge. I did not want to ruin the mood of the day out by objecting but normally I would as service was woeful. Lovely little street full of many restaurants. I am used to restrooms being hidden on another floor but here they are down a fairly steep flight of steps.

Dreadful dull, poorly presented, and massively overpriced food. The shawarma was the worst I have ever encountered, bread with some meat laid on top, then another bread on top, nothing but small pieces of lamb meat inside, a measly salad (poor contents) and a small pot of sauce for the shawarma. Did not appreciate the head waiter, who tries to come across as your best mate, continually trying to sell other items on the menu, then just standing at the table waiting for a positive response., he will pick up if even one member of the table is thinking about it. ok so this is their job, but not to make the customer feel awkward. This is obviously a tourist hot spot, and the quality of the food and the cost clearly indicate that this is a fast turnover, no care, overpriced restaurant. Four people, four shawarma, 4 soft drinks, one order of falafel, one order humous, and a bit of cake for one.... over £155 quid...I wouldn't mind if the quality was good, if you want a description of average this is it...no effort made for the bucks whatsoever. Never go back and def do not recommend it to anyone .Utter rubbish.

Been wanting to try this reaffirm a while. Went for drinks and dessert- walked up and could see clearly the restaurant wants busy. Asked for a table for three- waiter asked if we will be eating a full meal- we said we’d like drinks and dessert. He then told us he couldn’t accommodate us. Not sure a person of Arabic origin would have got the same response we did. Shocking attitude

Enough said!!! They OFFERED to take the pickles off my bill….. REALLY??? They also argued with me about what a turnip is. I asked for the pickles and they told me that the pink things that normally come with it are beets. We dont have those today… If you know anything about Middle Eastern food you know this girl it was confused.

Thought we would give this restaurant a try. A big big mistake, never again. Waited ages for our drinks when they did arrive nothing special and overpriced!!! The mains took ages to arrive one was a chicken dish which turned out raw in places. I wanted to complain but the other half said no as it had taken ages, maybe they were catching the chicken???? The other dish was just falafel and some pot dish. Which again took ages to cook? Asked for the bill which took ages to arrive and on top of this a 13.5% service charge for what. Could not understand the restaurant was not busy. Will not be recommending this establish to family and friends. Save your money and go elsewhere!!!!

The food is ok but nothing special and certainly not worth the price or experience. The service is terrible and that’s not an exaggeration I have never ever written a negative review for anywhere however honestly is was such a horrible experience. The waitresses had zero customer service skills and clearly didn’t want to be working. A part of me gets it and she probably has to deal with a lot pretentious, self entitled people however not all customers are alike. If you want your drinks slammed on the table, to be greeted with hostility and have to ask for standard items which usually are on most restaurant tables such as salt, pepper, napkins then this is the place for you. If you enjoy second hand smoke then this is also the place for you. As every mouthful is guaranteed with a puff of a strangers exhaled smoke (and tonight Mathew I’d would like Covid). I understand that shisha is a choice at this place however they really really need to designate one side to smokers and one side to non smokers. Or cut it all together and focus on the food and customer service!

There are a number of restaurants in this group but I couldn’t find the one for St Christopher. I have however visited all of them. I visited the restaurant at Saint Christopher’s place last night and often frequent it. The food is absolutely excellent the customer service is very attentive and the Shisha is top quality. Speaking to the management they are extremely passionate about the service they give. They can’t do enough to ensure that your experience with them exceed your expectations. I cannot recommend them highly enough and had a fantastic night last night so much so that we didn’t want the night to end or to leave. The staff are so friendly and interactive that they make you feel special and not just one of many. If you visiting London this is a place to go especially if you enjoy a good quality Shisha.

Ate here for an early evening, beginning of the week meal. At 6.30pm the place was virtually empty so it was perhaps lacking atmosphere. Started with a Lebanese Spicy Salad followed by the Farouj Meshwi for a main course. This was rather like a large chicken kebab with cold potatoes and coleslaw. I didn't really know what I was ordering, however it was very nice. The restaurant is very conveniently located close to Paddington station. My only gripe is the 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge which isn't really discretionary at all. I object to this.

Tugged away from the busy shopping high street, it is recommended to find this for lunch or dinner. It is wooden chairs and tables so not very fancy. You can be seated outdoors too. It is small, so you sit close together, and it can get busy. My friend and I refer to this place as "our shopping retreat". We have yet to order main meals, as we buy a lot of different smaller dishes to share. For an example, last time we did not have much time to eat, so we got a bottle of large still water, a tabouleh, falafel, halloumi meshwi, fatayer spinach for the perfect price of £34.04 to share... That is a cheerful and healthy dinner! And each dish is so tasty and the home made dips just add that extra yumminess.

Found this place for a late dinner. Nice vibe like many others on James street. Outdoor tables are nice if next to the restaurant but the ones nearest the road are not. Sat inside and friendly owner. The waitress was miserable and didn't smile once. The food was decent enough but like others has said expensive. One small plate of mixed grill with some chips came to 26.50. Decent enough but nothing special. Will be going back to Maroush in future.

Lebanese is one of my favourite cuisines and Massis is up there with one of the top Lebanese restaurants. Quality food includes; Tabouleh, hummus, fatoush, kibbeh, shish taouk or the lunch time shawarma wraps. You won't be disappointed and you can top it off by smoking a shisha after your meal.

Tasty and reasonably-priced for this area of London although the desserts (baklava etc) were quite expensive in comparison to the value of the starters and mains. Service was a bit haphazard with a lack of attention being paid to customers, though when they did bother to attend the service was cheerful and polite. This place is ideal for a cheap, satisfying snack, lunch or meal when out shopping. Not a place for a cosy, relaxing or leisurely dinner. They should take a few lessons from La Tasca next door where the waiting staff are quick, attentive and friendly.

Varken mer eller mindre men passade bra just då! Stället var helt ok men framförallt är det avsolut värt att vika av mot denna gata en stund. Mindre trafik och gott om matställen.

Of the many lebanese Restaurants ive dined at around the world this is by far thr worst. We ordered hummus and pita and "Kafta Massis" which was basically grilled ground lamb. Forget the lamb being tender for it to melt in my mouth ( & thats how it is meant to be) this one was hard to cut witg a fork and a knife! Hummus was sour and the pita was taken out from the refrigerator and heated in the microwave before being served. Because all of this was so terrible we then ordered a "Harra Batata", flavourex potatoes thinking how bad could potatoes be, but that was worse! Again straight out of the refrigerator into the microwave where it was even cold inside!Absolutely not recommended!

A small but decent looking place on a popular street in the busy London centre. However, the only thing that restaurant is good at is charging extortionate prices due to the location... having been a regular of the Edgware Road classics like Maroush and Salt..we wanted to try something different but was a wrong choice. We had a shisha and a falafel wrap only and the shisha was so bad that we actually felt sick after it. It kept hurting our throat and the team did all they could but it was still horrible, suggesting there's something majorly wrong and that too at £23+vat and service charge. We are shisha regulars so it's not that it was something to do with us... the wrap was average at best.. dry and no sides as per the Lebanese trend. If you are in the area please give this a miss and travel a bit to stay with the unbeatable classic Maroush! The lady serving was very helpful but apart from that all seemed shambolic.... majorly disappointing

Popped in for lunch today, tried to order something from a board behind the counter, was informed that the menu I was looking at was for takeaway only... fair enough, I then ordered a salad, which took longer than I anticipated. Food arrived, portion seemed pretty small so I ordered some Pitta Bread and humous, which arrived promptly. I ordered two cokes as I was thirsty, without checking the menu, the cokes were £4.00 each!!! For a 330ml can. Cannot think where else I've ever paid £4.00 for a can of coke!!! Serves me right for not checking the price. There was also a service charge added to the bill when it arrived. Nothing wrong with the service so I paid. But would have preferred to leave a cash tip.Verdict: Small portions, good service, good food but expensive for what it is. Probably wouldn't go back.

On a busy Friday night we thought we were doing well just finding somewhere to eat. It turned out that we really had got lucky. Massis may not be the most beautiful or comfortable place you'll ever find to eat. But if you're hungry and you love great hummus, good pita, and FABULOUS Ferrouj Meshwi, this is THE place to go. (A subsequent visit to another Lebanese restaurant, in another city proved the point that Massis really is something special.) Service was quick (and pleasant enough), portions are generous. Not all the dishes are of the same high standard. The falafel was adequate, and the chcken kebabs undistinguished. But if you choose wisely - or get lucky -you can havea great meal at a price that certainly won't break the bank.

Was out with my sisters and I decided to take them to St Christopher's Place - lovely little oasis of bars and restaurants off busy Oxford Street. I had been looking up Greek/Lebanese/Turkish food as we all love this cuisine and were craving grilled meat! There was outdoor seating but it was a busy summer's evening, so we sat inside - not bad though as the windows and doors were open onto the street. We ordered a few starters - I don't remember all of the names sadly but I had a thin flatbread that was filled with a spicy mince. SO nice! One sister had a Shawarma hummus, which was smooth with moist lamb shredded on top. My other sister had grilled halloumi which she found to be pretty average - I have to agree.Mains - we all went for various grills of Sharwarma and grilled meats. All very good and well flavoured. When eating this cuisine I tend to make the regular mistake of going for mixed lamb and chicken shawarma when I should just go for lamb. Chicken tends to dry out and loose moisture, which I did find with this too. However the lamb was really good!We also had a bottle of white wine. All in all I think the bill was around the £100 mark. Not bad for the amount of food, flavour, and being in the West End. I would recommend it. If I could give it a strong 3.5 stars I would!

Just back from the Sheldon Sq branch. No acknowledgement of our arrival. There were 7 of us.We must have been invisible. We were led to a table with out a welcome or hint of a smile.Perhaps the botox on the waitress had been an overdose causing prolonged paralysis. The starters were brought out at different times and we definitely were not sitting at separate tables or divorced from each other. The food was fresh and tasty. The place was quiet. We were the only clients for the first 30 minutes of our stay. The staff despite being present in good numbers never asked once how the food was. They stood about looking disinterested. I believe that the statues at Trafalgar Square are more animated and appear to see more than these dummies. We could not tell who the manager was as their actions were all uniformly cloned and devoid of interest and professionalism. While we were still having our mains the waitress started clearing up the table after just 2 of us had finished eating. Our waitress was outside too busy smoking which we noted as we left. The girl at the bar with whom we had had no interaction muttered a half hearted thanks as we sauntered out tails between our legs with dismay at being abjectly overlooked. It was as if we had just picked up sandwiches from a filling station. The proprietor should shake up his staff and insist on a better display of motivation than this lacklustre performance. An improvement in this regard would do justice to its quality of food which is not under question. There requires to be a marriage between the quality of food and service in this restaurant which is clearly lacking as judged by todays performance.

Food a bit basic and a bit expensive for what you get. Service not too bad. Went with my wife for lunch whilst in London at the weekend.

Today we decided spontaneously to have a meal in the area around Oxford Street. Where that would be we didn't know and so we strolled through the small streets nearby, looking for some inspiration. Still not very convinced and undecided we looked at a couple of restaurants from the outside when - lo and behold - we caught a glimpse of a promising looking Shawarma skewer through the windows of a small restaurant! You could see that this was not any Shawarma skewer, but one of the kind were you can almost taste how delicious it is by just looking at it! Lebanese? Wonderful! Settled it was and so we entered Massis. Although the restaurant is quite small, it also has outdoor seating, which is a nice thing to have because James Street isn't so busy trafficwise. Inside it is decorated with historic black and white photographies from Lebanons past and the inspiring music sets you just in the right mood for an amazing Lebanese meal. The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome and they are patient too - an important characteristic for me because I need ages to decide what to eat especially when the menue has so many mouthwatering options. I followed some recommendations from my husband who knows and loves authentic Lebanese cuisine. In the end we shared everything we ordered anyway... Here is what we ordered: 1. Hommos. ( IMPORTANT - Hommos is a staple food for the two of us. Hommos in all variations. Hommos for us is the same as Ketchup for other people. Hommos is fabulous. Period.) The Hommos at Massis is soo good that I was short before asking for a whole bucket of it for takeaway! Creamy tasty and out of this world delicious and served with freash warm Lebanese flatbread. 2. Halloumi Meshwi - charcoal grilled halloumi cheese, which was grilled to perfection. Slightly golden and with just the right amount of charcoal flavour. 3. Makanek - fried Lebanese sausages, medium spicy stuffed with pine kernels. Try them in a small piece of flatbread and tucked into Hommos and your tastebuds will thank you. If we would have been cats we would have started to purr throughout the meal. 4. Jaweneh - charcoal grilled chicken wings marinated in garlic sauce, which also had just the right amount of charcoal flavour, but were succulent and amazingly good. 5. Shawarma Lamb, roasted slices of tender marinated prime lamb. And this was exactly as good as we though it would be! Perfect. Our meal was accompanied by three highly delicious dips - a wonderfully hot spicy sauce, a well rounded tahini dip and a very interesting, very tasty garlic dip. I had the most amazing refreshing fresh mint tea and when we finally asked for our bill, the waiter brought us a small plate of the most perfect and lovely Baklawa we ever had - not too overly sweet as you often find it, but moist and with the perfect degree of sweetness. A worthy finale for this wonderfully tasty delicious and authentic meal! We left this little gem of a restaurant refreshed and relaxed and very happy. Sometimes it pays off to follow your intuition! We will be back!

This place is brilliant (just be careful if you are over 5'11''. The service is friendly and prompt and the the food is just what you expect. Although it isn't excellent, the price and the general vibe of the restaurant suggest a more relaxed and hearty meal, which is just what you get. The lamb dish we ordered was well cooked and could so easily have been overdone. Gotta love a meze

A good area to stop by and have lunch in one of the many restaurants nearby, watching the people passing by.But the food is nothing special.I expected more from a lebanese restaurant. Fortunately, the service was fast.

Met up with some girlfriends on a retail therapy trip to London. The weather was superb and we sat and enjoyed a couple of bottles of Prosecco with our lunch outside the restaurant. The service was good and the food really fabulous. Portion sizes are really good - I bought the rest of mine home in a doggy bag as it was too good to leave!! We were not rushed and were able to sit as long as we wanted and have a really good natter. We couldn't help but look at what other people were ordering and it all looked delicious and we will be coming back very soon.

No drinks can be had on a hot day when hundreds of people are outside looking to enjoy the sun. You are only allowed to eat without a time limit as there are only a few outside tables and the business needs to turn around as many as possible before the sun goes away in a country which rarely gets to enjoy it. They let us sit for 30' for a wine and coffee, and that only after permission from management! At 32' exactly a shy waiter came over to ask if we needed anything else (obviously to remind us to pay and vacate the table). I congratulated him on his punctuality, paid and left leaving a tip of 2p.This happens all over the city, not just here. I can't imagine this ever happening in any other European country, especially in the South. I've had good food here many times in the past. They will not see me sitting in their chairs ever again.

For us, this was the best middle-eastern food we've had. We sat down outside, the table was really small, we had trouble jongleur-ing between the plates. Waiters were having a good time with each-other but forgot to bring the ordered drink. It's also quite expensive although it's just an elegant eatery.

what can I say. Atmosphere non-existent - the palce is really small, looks more like a takeway, guys who work there look rather unfriendly. Food is average, even worse, looks like I've got some kind of food poisioning after the visit.
