Masoom's in South Oxfordshire

Ate here earlier tonight as part of a group. Friendly staff, incredibly good food and good service. Can’t really ask for any more than that. Really really excellent curry

This was a great find. We are hard to cater for as we are 1 vegan, 1 piscitarian/coeliac and 2 eat anything! The vegan had 3 sides plus some rice - lentil Dahl+potatoes and spinach+ aubergine - all excellent although the others helped out as portions generous. The piscitarian had prawns, and the other 2 lamb. Everything was excellent. The pickles with the poppadoms were the best we've had, especially the lime. It seemed very good value. We could not manage a dessert but the menu was a great selection of ice creams rather than a melange of desserts. Next time I'll have less mains and leave room to try the ice cream. The service was excellent. It seemed an authentic experience. Will go again.

Probably the best Curry I’ve ever had. We had the set meal and there was so much food. Starters were beautifully presented and the mains were a great variety, Rice and Nann breads. The staff were very friendly and the service was great. They were kind enough to box up the leftovers. We had 2 children with us, one of which are fussy and said they don’t like curry. Ordered them a Korma to share and there wasn’t a scrap left. Fussy child even told the staff it was the best curry ever

This is one of my favourite Indians it has such a great variety of vegetarian dishes, the aubergine is awesome the Dahl is great and I had the tandoori monkfish was fantastic. The service is excellent as always and the house Shiraz is great value!

I regularly travel 24 miles to meet a friend here for a boys night out. Over the years I've tried most of the medium-hot main dishes on the menu and they've all been delicious. This post was prompted by a new option I spotted last night - the Korai Kabob Khyberi - which totally smashed their record out of the park. It will be very difficult to revert to any of my old favourites having tried this fabulous main.

As stated in the title the service and food were both great. The staff was very friendly and informative about the food and the culture. The food was excellent, especially the Alkrashma Lamb was amazing. Overal a pleasant experience.

This restaurant staff knows how to satisfy it’s customers, first off a warm respectful welcome by the staff, walked in with a group of 9, they didn’t waste time setting up a long table and got us all seated. Beers ice cold, fresh assorted curry...

We moved into the area over a year ago but had never tried this restaurant, despite being avid lovers of Indian food (we cook a lotta home as well as eating out). The menu boded well with a few non-typical dishes. There were a wide spread of reviews but it averaged a 4 so we decided to give it a try for a lockdown takeaway. We so wanted to have a really good Indian restaurant on our doorstep. Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be the one. The standard of cooking was average at best and poor in some cases. The best dish we had was Chicken Massalam. (But only average). The worst were the Tarka Dal (the garlic had obviously been burnt prior to putting it into the lentils and it lacked salt) and the Begun Biran (the aubergines were not fully cooked and still hard). A tandoori dish and the naans gave the impression that the tandoor had not been up to full heat and didn’t have that lovely slightly charred flavour.I wish I could be more positive because god only knows that small businesses need support right now but I believe that being honest and frank can only be helpful for customers and the restaurant.

Following recommendation we ordered a takeaway. Chicken Rezala and king Prawn Bhuna, nothing overly complicated.My Rezala was inedible; It looked suspiciously like the Bhuna, and tasted solely of bottled lemon juice and raw chilli powder; to be fair it’s described as tangy lemon with fresh chilli, but someone had clearly been heavy handed with the jif lemon! Add to that the tough, dry chicken and it ended up in the bin.My wife’s Bhuna was average at best and coincidentally she was ill following eating it,The rice was nice though and COVID precautions looked good, maybe the chef was having a bad day.

A Masoom’s curry is always something we look forward to. The team are doing a great job of serving delicious meals through these difficult times. We’ve had several takeaways during lockdown, and an eat-in meal during “tier 2” in December. Very thorough controls in place to keep customers safe - but I’m looking forward to the day when we can eat in at a packed Masoom’s again. We recommend the chicken massalam and the king prawn jhol. And the huge onion bhajis. And the tarka dhal.

We have had takeaway from Masooms a few times and they were OK BUT last Friday we paid £38 for 3 meals and the two biriani dishes were awful, luke warm and very short on so called king prawns, it just seemed like they had warmed up some leftovers. The papadoms were stale, expensive and greasy. I will never get a meal from this restaurant again.

VIsited Masoom's over the weekend during a stay in a nearby hotel with some friends. We ordered a selection of curries, rice dishes and naans, which were all delicious (particularly the peshwari naan)! The staff were very friendly too.

Hudein and Zia, what outstanding service!!! So attentive, warm and genuinely lovely to talk to throughout our service. Food was incredible, super tasty and amazing portions. Really felt like they went the extra mile with everything here. Beyond impressed. Very clean premises, they took Covid regulations very seriously, and I saw the staff very regularly sanitise their hands during service. I visited here with my family during our staycation. The BEST curry I have ever eaten. We have had the pleasure of eating in some lovely curry houses but this tops them all. I cannot recommend this curry house enough. The service is excellent and the Chef personally comes out to ask if you have enjoyed your meal. Really lovely environment and lovely people, most importantly the food is exceptional and you really will not be disappointed. If I could give it six stars I would. Thank you for a wonderful meal and excellent service. We will most definitely be back!!

My pregnant wife got food poisoning from here. Was meant to be a treat for my birthday. 5 days in bed for her. Called to tell them. Was treated with suspicion and offered only a replacement for her main meal. Very very poor.

We ate here as part of a large party. Staff really friendly and professional. Everyone we had contact with was very efficent. Service was swift. There is a very varied menu which was reasonably priced. All the food served was excellent and of a high standard. A good vegetarian menu.The restaurant has a lovely feel about it. We will definately return.

Masoom's is absolutely brilliant, whether it be a dining experience or take away. The service is quick and the waiters are very friendly. The food is brilliant, and I would thoroughly recommend Masoom's.

We're been twice recently and can completely recommend Masoom's. The place looks immaculate (not sure what some of the other reviewers have been looking at?), white linen tablecloths and very neatly laid out; the staff could not be nicer or more helpful; the food is freshly prepared and gives no signs of having been sitting in the kitchen; and the prices seem like a breath of reason in the local area sea of stupid prices. We plan to eat here again as we're only a few miles away and the whole experience has been very pleasant.

Food standard, rates this place 1 out of 5. Come on Masson clean your act up. Service is good, just hoping they will be audited soon and have an improved focus on being clean.

Not only is this restaurant beautiful, with linen tablecloths, candle light and crystal but the service is impeccable and the food quite fantastic and it is reasonably priced. I am a challenge as I am allergic to gluten and dairy and the chef came out to help me choose my meal then followed up to be sure he wasn’t including anything I can’t eat. My dining companions have less restrictive diets and we all loved everything that came to the table !!Not only that but we were informed that if we had special requests in the future we need only call in advance and they could custom make almost anything they had the ingredients for!!If you haven’t already tried Massom’s, do so soon!

Me and my wife went for dinner (18:00 pm) and were greeted immediately (restaurant was not busy.. Anyway) by one of the waiter.We took a sit, after they brang our jackets in the wardrobe. They offered us a typical Indian bread with 4 different sauces just to start, from the beginning all the service was very accurated and the food was good and tasty... Expecially the prawn perhaps it was the best dishes ordered.I m not giving 5 stars only cause the "pudding" was a Ferrero rocher ice cream... We didn t imagine that and it was very frozen.. But the kindness of the guys avoided the complain...the bill was accurated, without service and the price ratio was very good. Being a poor area of ​​restaurants, they try to do all the best and they manage to do it. I recommend it.

I had my family to stay for Christmas and have always raved about how good the food and service was. We were not disappointed - was so fresh and the staff were lovely. Having tried a number of local Indian restaurants we decided to get a takeaway from Masoom’s as it looks like a nice restaurant and has good reviews.Unfortunately our experience was incredibly disappointing.When we got home our order was incomplete - no naan breads despite ordering and paying for these - next time I’ll make sure to check my order before leaving however this is difficult when in a queue in a restaurant and handed a large bag of food and you do expect that the kitchen would check this before sending the order.There was nothing on the boxes to determine what each dish was - although we can work this out by tasting it should be obvious what each dish is so you don’t have to dip in and out of every dish!The food was also lukewarm at best so needed reheating - this suggests that it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while waiting for collection despite arriving exactly when we were told the order would be ready.These things could however by forgiven if the food was good, however this was not the case. The meat (lamb) was overcooked, chicken was plain chicken (despite chicken tikka dishes ordered) and sauce was very thin and tasteless is all curry - when ordering a hot curry you expect some spice which was certainly not the case here.We will not be returning to Masoom’s again and will have to find another good local takeaway in the future!

Amazing food and friendly service. The staff are always welcoming and kind; nothing is too much for them. I have eaten in Masooms restaurant for years because the food is delicious, wholesome and of the highest quality.

This is my son's favourite restaurant in the world - we have been a few times and also get takeaways too. All the staff are so friendly and make you feel special, the food is absolutely delicious and they do a lovely Merlot too! They go above and beyond. It was my son's restaurant of choice for his 11th birthday and they gave him a birthday ice cream with candles and the whole restaurant sang. Great value too. A lovely evening out. Thank you.

As always, Masoom's was heaving, people queuing to get in for take away service as well as bookings.Despite being incredibly busy, the staff showed great professionalism and took the time to welcome me and my guests, show us to the best table in the place, and make sure we had drinks and menus.After relaxing at a clean and well dressed table, we ordered our food.The food was incredible.The onion bhaji's were to die for as was everything put in front of us, and we ordered a lot of food.Before leaving, they gave us hot towelettes to freshen ourselves up with, chocolates and the bill which certainly did not break the bank.I can see why George Michael used this gem.Thank you for a wonderful Saturday night Masoom's. x

As a curry connoisseur I have sampled hundreds of curry houses around the world and can honestly say that Masooms is the best. Food, service and surrounding are all excellent, prices reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Probably the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The food is phenomenal and the staff are so friendly. I like my curries hot and they go that extra mile make it how i want it. If you like your curries then this is the place to be. Easy 5 star. Also very reasonably priced.

The food here is amazing! I’ve been here a few times within the last month or so and I couldn’t fault it! Amazing staff who are always very friendly. Amazing food! They even cater to the fussy ones! If you want it xhot or more mild they don’t hesitate. I will be back! More than likely within the week! Can’t seem to get enough of the food!!

We have been here a number of times and recently for 10 people on Saturday night. It is always really busy which is always a good sign. The menu is as you would expect and the food is always tasty, hot and not too greasy (my pet hate). The service is always a bit hap hazard as they are so busy but they are always cheerful and you can easily catch their attention if you need anything. Always our first choice in the area if we are going out for a curry.

This is the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I have eaten a number of dishes from here and eaten both in the restaurant and take away. The restaurant is often very busy and the tables are understandably quite packed in.

A cut above many Indian Restaurants with a wide men, especially for fish and seafood. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and not overpriced.

I dined alone here and I was quite happy with the level of service, cleanliness and quality of the food. Located on High Street it's not hard to find (Goring isn't a big place). I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning.

The only curry house close by and the food was not the best, there was not enough spice in the food which was bland an unappealing, very expensive too. Service was good with the waiter explaining the dishes, but had I have known how bland the food was I would have asked for it to be made spicier/hotter. The Bombay potatoes seems to be precooked and microwaved which was very disappointing, I suspect a lot of the food is precooked. At the end of our meal the staff seemed over keen to get us out and close up (it wasn’t even 9.30pm). Sadly I’d rather travel further an get a better curry.

Sadly we didn’t enjoy our food. Far too much salt in the lamb madras and Tarka Dahl. The madras was also full of red food colouring. Pilau rice was decent but that’s about it. As someone else pointed out in a previous review, they started ironing tablecloths next to our table which was a bit rude when we were still eating.

This was our second time to have a meal at the masooms and the service was outstanding and the food superb will I return Yes and I will highly recommend this restaurant to all . Thank you again for a great evening Chris from South Wales

We had heard such great reviews of this place that we were excited to eat dinner here. From the moment we entered, it was clear it is a special place. The waiter was willing to explain the dishes and while service was a bit slow, we weren't rushed at all. We aren't all that familiar with Indian food but we thought the food was delicious and it was fun to chat with some of the other patrons at neighboring tables. It seemed to have lots of local patrons which is always a good sign. This is a lovely place, so put on a pretty shirt and make a reservation so you aren't disappointed by a full restaurant.

I along with 5 friends visited the restaurant and were enthusiastically greeted and seated. Sadly that’s where the positives ended. Throughout the entire meal a swarm of flies buzzed over our meals and we were constantly swatting them from landing. The staff were not in the least concerned. We had been warned by a group of friends who had been the week before that this had also been the case in their visit too. However I though they were exaggerating. (They weren’t).The dishes were served quickly and and I can not fault the quick service. I ordered the Chicken biriyani which when delivered the curry resembled Sunday vegetables in a watery sauce. A friend asked for Samosa starters as her main meal and had a choice of ether vegetable or meat. She asked if she could mix them as it was her main meal and would prefer a selection. She was curtly told ‘No’ (I doubt that it would have been too much of an inconvenience to mix them). I thought that overall it was over priced and the amount of flies was off putting.

We were travelling and passing by this nice village and it was the right time to find some quality food, so we stumbled across this Masooms restaurant, they were very welcoming and we needed a table for 11 people. They quickly pushed a few tables together and set it up very nicely. Although the restaurant seemed small from the outside, inside it has enough space. Well we were looked after to a high standard firstly, ordered a few beers and wine came out ice cold perfect. Starters we had Masooms special and Nuruls special and the amount of detail that went into the was amazing. Very clean and taste incredible. For the main dishes the chicken and lamb Jalfrezi was excellent with some Garlic breads to go with it. I highly recommend this place if you fancy quality. Hopefully we will be travelling again soon so we can visit again. If only we lived closer to Oxford. Keep it up.

Visited on a busy friday evening, was very busy and had a warm atmosphere around the restaurent. Catched the smell of the tandoori from a few yards away. Absolutely loved the King Prawn Puree and Prawn Butterfly, Tandoori mix Shashlik was awesome with the amount of Sizzling going up and to top it of the staff working seemed very busy and also helpful and looked after everyone. Will be back soon, so far the best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurent we have eaten in. :)

We know Masooms from our local restaurant in Wantage. Happy to find that the Goring food was just as good! And, enough for a 'doggy bag' for my lunch the following day - result! :-)

We live locally and have been coming to Masooms for family occasions for years as everyone in the family from young to old loves it’s d it is consistently excellent in every way. It can make you lazy to to review when you know a place so well but I feel compelled and inspired to post one today. We turned up to celebrate a family occasion only to find that I had completely messed up the booking and booked for a weeks time. The staff would have been completely in their rights to turn us away - the restaurant was heaving as it always is on a Saturday night but they found us a table and were as quietly humorous as ever and the food was as impressive as always. Masooms never disappoints, from the old standards to the specials such as Al krashmah lamb ( huge portion and lamb falling off the bone it’s so tender) and monk fish which my husband tried for the first time and was just melt in the mouth delicious. Oh and the naan is the best I have ever eaten! Thank you so much for squeezing us on for another memorable evening!

The food at Masoom’s in Goring was fresh and tasty. However, the discourtesy of ironing adjacent table cloths, before we had even finished our meal, was appalling.

We liked the food so much on our first visit we took some friends this time. We all enjoyed our meal, the food was lovely. However, a few of the waiters are very complacent bordering on indifferent/ arrogant which is not great.Why they thought it was ok to start steam ironing table cloths on empty tables while we were still eating is beyond me. A little more customer service would go a long way.

Fantastic service and amazing quality food at great value. Friendly staff and nice background music also, making this an amazing place to dine for some of the finest Indian cuisine. A must visit if your passing through Goring. 5 star.

Normally the meals here are lovely, but not the other evening myself and my mother had two diff curry’s mine was a vindaloo ! Wasn’t hot at all and very tasteless and so was my mother’s who had a rogan josh just a bland sauce with lots of tomatoes.. ended up bringing them home. Shame as usually lovely . Don’t get takeaways from here as they are not nice at all and most of the locals say the same .. very watered down.

I was recently in the area for a period of two weeks and visited this restaurant twice in that time. The food is fantastic and is the first time I’ve had massive king prawns which were almost as big as langoustine! The service is always very welcoming and however busy they are they never make you feel like you’re being rushed.I would highly recommend this restaurant it’s a little gem in the middle of a lovely village

Cant fault the food ...it really is s good curry, but the service is as bad as it gets. Most of the waiters clearly have no interest in making your evening an enjoyable experience. Without going into the detail, I couldn't endure another meal at Masooms...it would be too stressful. Takeaway only option!
