What a gem bizarrely found it when looking on wetherspoons locator! Staff were pleasant and friendly. The food excellent cooked to perfection they were able to provide for a vegetarian and a celiac in our party without batting an eyelid. The room was perfect and the background music just at the right volume. We were intrigued by the left hand clock above the bar as we left. We will definitely recommend them

Wow what a find ! We were actually booked into somewhere else but had to cancel as we couldn’t get a taxi ! We found the masons arms as it was the closet place to eat . So glad we didn’t get the taxi ! The staff were extremely welcoming , we got a table straight away , the food was amazing, my son had a pizza , loved it it was huge and packed with topping , I had a steak and blue cheese sauce and my husband had a burger , we were all very impressed. We’ve paid nearly double that in other places and not been half as good ! Shout out to the locals to all very friendly! Well done masons arms nothing to change here ! 🙌

Lovely helpful and polite staff. Lovely atmosphere and nice beer garden. We asked for a small portion of fish and chips. Neither my partner nor myself have large appetites but the size of the fish was a joke. It was more like a tadpole and wouldn’t even have fed a small child. Unfortunately we won’t be going back

The Mason’s Arms could be easily overlooked, because of its setting on a main road, but the restaurant area at the back, was clean and bright with plenty of space between the tables. The Sunday lunch menu was very reasonably priced and worth what it cost . The food was delivered quickly and was piping hot. The vegetables were well cooked and the portions, generous. The stuffed poached chicken was declared a hit and the Cornish beef was also well cooked, tasty and tender. The service was excellent.

Thought I'd review the Masons again, as it's changed hands and been refurbished since my last visit. Had just as good a time as in the past. Maybe I've been lucky, but there's something about this pub where you can walk in as a stranger and walk out as an honorary local. Had nice, entertaining chats with a string of different folks. Barmaid, originally from Feltham, was epic. Very chatty and friendly, taking a pride in her job, helping with the easygoing vibe. I like Bodmin, it gets a bad rap but suits my character. And this is my favourite pub in the town.

My daughter was having a small catered wedding under a marquee in their garden on Friday the 18th September 2020. The wind strengthened in the afternoon and destroyed everything. Utter disbelief. They had booked the Masons Arms the following year so they could invite all the family and friends to celebrate their first anniversary with no COVID. Suffice to say they were are only hope as they do have a very nice back room, large enough to cater for 30 people. After checking the regulations and found they could host the wedding their response was incredible! They replaced a door and set up all the necessary protocols to protect all the guests and customers. They allowed us to bring our caterers food and helped us set up. We completely decorated the room that night. Their commitment to the special day was unbelievable. They were friendly and accommodating at all times. The Masons is a brilliant pub and the atmosphere is always first class. My biggest compliment is to Gareth, Mark and their whole team - exceptional. Thank you. Father of the Bride

Dropped in on a warm day in late July, expecting to be shown to some socially isolated spot in which to drink in solitude. But the Masons Arms wasn't like that. Though the customers were socially distanced from each other, the arrangement of the seats and tables round the walls of the small, square front bar meant conversations could be held: so I ended up spending a chatty hour or two here with great pleasure. Everyone sat looking in, and banter flowed freely back and forth in all directions from the 10 or so customers present. The pub's well organised for COVID prevention, with sanitiser and tracing checks all sorted without fuss. Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Both barmaids, Mandy and Lisa, were amiable, easygoing, on the ball--a credit to the place. The customers were all local, with the same jovial banter that I'm used to in the inland towns of Cornwall. Bodmin's often slighted; but I couldn't've had a jollier time than in the 4 pubs I visited that day. Much love to the Masons and Bodmin.

Whilst visiting friends in Bodmin, the plans for some sightseeing in Cornwall were drowned in a four day long spell of heavy rain and mist. The back-up plan turned out to be a discovery of some of the local pubs in Bodmin itself. On Higher Bore street we chose the Masons Arms and had a few pints of ale. I noticed that one of them had the same logo on the tap as the pub logo (a stone mason at work) and I asked if it was their own brand. The owner explained that it had been "a fortunate accident". He has always a guest ale on tap and when the brewer of Tintagel came with a delivery he asked if he would try a cask of beer that he had made but with a wrong kind of grain. The cask lasted.... 1 day, the pubowner ordered some more and they too went very quickly. As the customers still asked for more he called up the brewer and said: "do you remember how you made this mistake-beer ?" Luckely he knew and made some more. As it was an un-named beer but only available in the Masons Arms the brewer asked it's owner to give it a name and he christened it Masons Arms Keystone. After a few more guest appearances it became the home beer (always on tap).Because it is such a good ale, it is now also available elsewhere but with a different name: King Arthur's Ale.If you're in the area, don't miss out on the chance of having a pint of Keystone.

My partner and I first visited the Mason's Arms around New Year 2014/5, and it had everything I look for in a pub - friendly but not overbearing management and staff, comfortable surroundings, interesting real ales and a roaring fire (complete with an extremely warm and happy cat).We visited again last weekend - I unfortunately don't live locally - and was pleasantly surprised that the Landlady remembered not only me, but also what I drank in there over three months ago! Plenty of good-natured banter draws one in, so upon leaving I almost felt like a local. As others have said, The Mason's Arms no longer serves food, however they are happy for customers to bring in local take away food for consumption on the premises. If you enjoy a decent pint of ale, snug surroundings and a friendly atmosphere then this gem of a pub is for you. P.S - hope the ankle heals soon, Wendy.

I arrived at this pub rather more quickly than I had hoped, tripping over the pavement side which is poorly lit and built up for storms. I injured my face and knee. Wendy and Paul immediately sprang into action to help me with their first aid training, warmth and helpfulness. After a couple of brandies a coffee and a takeaway fish and chips which they kindly got me from over the road I began to feel more human and went back there next few nights to sample their excellent ever changing real ale which they are rightly proud of. My fine gentleman friends And myself visited this pub on a night out for our train spotters annual shin dig, we had heard that the venue serves tremendous ales and stupendous food..... The recommendations were not wrong, we were satisfied, even my mate Big Alfred who is quite partial to his garlic mushrooms. My issue was the landlady, a petite specimen with the sting of a scorpion. When I enquired as to where the Tartare Sauce was for my Plaice Goujons she snapped at me with a bitter tone in her voice that made me feel most uneasy. Even Me mate Big Maximillian, muttered in my left ear that I must have done something to upset the lady of the house. All in all, great pub, good ales, pleasant food but the landlady was a bit snappy and I got the distinct vibe that her husband was very much told what to do. My bi sexual pal Big Marcus was a bit flirty with the landlord and the landlady was certainly quick to dampen the banter and assert her authority on her hubby.Worth a visit but a touch like Fawlty Towers

We went for a meal to the masons arms as a family after our father passed away, we had to wait nearly an hour for our food and we were the only people there. When the food finally arrived it was the smallest portions of food you could imagine and they got the order wrong . We politely requested the correct food and informed the owner who served us that for the money the portions were very small !! He then told us ,in a very rude manner, that we would have to wait 30 mins which you can understand was not acceptable . We asked for our money back, he refused. So I had it out with him. Eventually I got our money back and he had the nerve to ask us to leave. My family or I will never go there again, and I recommend you don't waste your time either. I'm a restaurant manager and take a lot of pride in customer service and the food which I serve . The masons arms in Bodmin is nothing less than appalling .Carl Brennan.
