I absolutely love this particular MZ! The food, service, and ambience are consistently excellent. The servers always greet and serve with a warm smile, which makes the experience even better. Some of my favorite dishes here are the Chicken 65, Squid Fry, Mangalore Chicken, and their soft, delicious chapatis — all of them are simply the best! I’d love to visit often whenever I get the chance.

Took visiting friends from aboard to this place and everyone enjoyed the meal. Nice calm atmosphere, reliable service and delicious authentic Indian food! This is my fourth time eating at this restaurant…I will come here again in future.

The food is overpriced, served in smaller portions, and reportedly causes indigestion. Management fails to address menu discrepancies or engage with customers. Dishoom and Copper Chimney are recommended alternatives, offering superior food and customer service. Masala Zone is criticized for poor quality, inattentive staff, and overcharging, leading to a highly unsatisfactory experience.

Absolutely mind blowing food. Almost gave out eating Indian food in restaurants till went in Masala Zone. Absolutely authentic taste of Indian cuisine. OMG the smell and taste of saffron in their biryani, the Kathi Muthu chutney and the curd of dahi poori…salivating while remembering it. Ambience is perfect with good soft glow lights, service was quick and prompt. Staff were very professional and cordial and price are reasonable not a dent in pocket.

We treat ourselves to Indian food at home, and the meal we had at Masala Zone was a whole different level of cuisine. Each ingredient was fresh and the spicing was superb. We especially enjoyed the panic puri pops!

I have been to Masala Zone twice, back in November 2024 and now (April 2025). The common issue I noticed in both times was the portion concept plus the menu change which got rid of some delicious dishes. The appetizers have a normal portion size. However, the entree dishes have really small portions (for 1-2 people). If you are a group of 4 or more, you will have to order the same dish twice. The portion sizes were smaller when compared to the ones I saw in my previous visit. The taste is ok but not satisfying enough. It seems that the dishes are focused more on the aesthetics/presentation and less on the taste. You do not get the punchy hit of vibrance that you are supposed to get from a rich flavourful indian dish. The restaurant is spacious and has a good team. Hopefully, the restaurant does a better job with the taste next time.

Mi familia se detuvo para mi cena de cumpleaños y compartió la samosa chaat y la flor de cebolla (ambos deliciosos) y disfruté de la mantequilla de pollo thali para la cena, que sin duda volvería a pedir! Nuestro servidor era servicial y amable y proporcionó algunas recomendaciones geniales. Incluso puso una vela de cumpleaños en mi sorbete de mango para ayudarnos a celebrar! La decoración y el ambiente es hermoso y yo volvería y pediría un masala chai solo para sentarse y mirar el hermoso arte / esculturas y el techo intrincado! We asked for a quick meal before our show in the west end. Dinner came out quickly and everything was delicious. Much better than Dishoom!

Nice, well decorated restaurant a stone's throw from Covent Garden with a varied menu of specialties from different regions in India. Customers mostly take Thali but the curries are delicious. The sides are extra which quickly adds to the bill, especially since they are not plentiful (the chapatis are served in pairs and are very small). Service a little rushed to be able to turn the tables. Overall a very good address for an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood

Randomly strolled into the restaurant after seeing the long queue at Dishoom. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and how flavourful it was. The service from Ezra was also great, which made life easier for us.

Nice ambiance, quite relaxed. Food tasted authentic, definitely the upper end of British Indian cuisine. Total dinner bill for 2 starters, 1 curry, 1 biryani with water was almost £70, which is a bit too pricey for me though.

Food was good and atmosphere was ok. Service, however, was poor. I visited with my family for Mother's Day and we tried two wines on the table which neither were particularly nice. We asked to try a third wine and the waitress rolled her eyes then informed us that the max wine you can taste per table is 2. Bearing in mind the tasting serve was about the size of a tbsp. We then asked the difference between two dishes and the waitress said one came with yoghurt and the other did not. So we ordered the dish with yoghurt. They ended up bringing out the wrong dish without yoghurt, then accused us for placing the wrong order. This oddly escalated to the manager coming out to re explain the dishes to us which we confirmed again, we asked for the dish with yoghurt - another explanation of the dishes was not required. Overall the hospitality needs some work. Probably wouldn't recommend, there are better Indian restaurants in London

The food is ok, it's honestly nothing special. The staff are very pushy to get your order from you, our waiter came round 4 times in the space of 15 minutes to try and take our order. I wouldn't bother coming back here though the restaurant is decorated nicely.

Excellent delicious tasty dishes

We came here because of the large number of positive reviews. The atmosphere is cool, no question. We are tourists but speak good English. The controls were still a bit difficult to understand. The food was, for the price structure mentioned here, nothing special for us.

One of the best dining experiences we had during our visit to London! This is truly an outstanding restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such kindness and a big smile from the hostess. She was incredible in accommodating my husband and I. The food was out of this world. Every bite was an experience and super flavourful. To top it off, we had the most wonderful server named Susmita. She was super knowledgeable and gave exceptional recommendations. Susmita took the time to explain the dishes and ingredients. She was attentive, patient, friendly and made our entire experience at Masala Zone special. We wished that every server was like Susmita. Highly recommend Masala Zone and hope to dine there again one day!

Disappointing mixed grill - 2 kebabs and a bit of unflavoured chicken. Food was cold. Places like Dawat do an exceptional grill with more variety of meat for cheaper.

Excellent vegetarian dinner! We had the Lucknowi Dani puri, Mandvi Dabeli and the Veg Thali. All the dishes were very tasty and flavorful. The 2 starters were especially delicious and well presented! The service was courteous and kind as well! The atmosphere was colorful with the Rajasthani dolls decorating the ceiling. The only negative was that we felt that the tables were set too close and we were very close to the other customers on all sides. Overall highly recommend!

What we thought would have been a good choice to visit for a birthday meal ended up being the worst we’ve visited. First of all the restaurant feels very cramped! With other tables literally right next to you, doesn’t feel private at all and you even struggle to get in between tables to get to your seat. The food was below average and prices were extortionate! I get that it is London prices but there are much better options offering a decent portion and better pricing. £5 for a 330ml of coke is daylight robbery, and then 15% eat in charge on top. Crazy. The food itself lacked taste To make things worse, the person in our party wasn’t even wished a happy birthday once! It’s the first time we’ve been to a restaurant that hasn’t acknowledged this even though it was clear on the reservation and was mentioned when we arrived as well shocking customer service

Great place to eat, book if you can as it's very popular, and I know now why. The menu is different from a traditional Indian with options for grazing plates, Thali platters (if you don't know what these are visit their website to find out) and many other dishes. Service great and pricing competitive. Well worth a visit.

Starters were good but Thali was disappointing

We went for a first time with my husband, and ordered three mains, chicken tandoori curry, lamb curry and chicken biryani. The chicken curry was good, the lamb curry was the worst I have ever tried and the biryani was ok. The atmosphere is nice and pleasant. They have wheelchair access from a back door which they opened for us, but it would be nice if there is no table blocking that access because it was very awkward to enter. The staff very really nice and professional. RESPONSE: Initials for the person on which we have booking I.J We have booked for 5 pm. Our table was next to the wheelchair accesisble door. Its a lovely restaurant in the heart of the city with lovely ambience, delicious food and a wonderful staff. Food was extremely tasty with appropriate spices. I would highly recommend this place. Despite of ample seating arrangements, I would suggest reserving table in advance as it is quite popular restaurant.

Not very good food at all. Somosa chaat actually smelt bad. Pani puris very average hardly any filling. Paneer was awful. Chole very average, naan average. Dessert over rated. All looked fancy lacked any substance. Great interior

The food was honestly delicious and the service was good too. It’s just a bummer that at the end when the bill came we figured out that one portion of rice (that normally is included in the curry) was £5!!! We thought it was included in the price which left us taken aback. We would’ve appreciated if they told us beforehand.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had! Very nice staff who explained the dishes and were nice and attentive. Unique menu items. I had chorizo bites for a starter and a lamb thali that came with eclectic side dishes. Diversity of flavors with the perfect amount of spice. Nice drinks menu as well. We were stuffed when we left because the food was so good we couldn't help but eat every bite! We will be back.

edit, ein Jahr später: unten gesagtes nach wie vor gültig, aber Essen: fantastisch, Service: fast schon ZU aufmerksam 😁! Wichtig: im Winter möglichst weit weg vom Eingang, wir hatten nicht reserviert und bekamen am Samstag 21h (schwierig) den ersten Tisch in der Verlängerung des Eingangs - es zog unangenehm kalt auf die Beine, über den Rücken nahm ich den dicken Fließpulli. Bin mit indischer Küche nicht vertraut, uns hat alles sehr gut geschmeckt! Ambiente sehr stimmig und geschmackvoll, die Kellner sehr freundlich; unserer - immerhin ein nativer Inder - war wohl neu und schwer zu verstehen, da gab's ein paar Hoppalas: Statt Pinot Grigio brachte er Rotwein 🙃. Der Weiße war auch zum vergessen, das Flaschenbier extrem teuer! Vermutlich sollte man beim Inder Landesübliches trinken 😊. Dennoch alles in allem gerne wieder, an einem Tisch ganz weit rechts hinten!

Super delicious Indian food!!! We chose to share small snacks with each other. Delicious ! Had a different Indian meal than usual. Also received good information in advance from the staff. Coffee was also great. Cocktail and beer too. Atmosphere is also very pleasant. Also many customers with roots in India... not for nothing: good Indian food In short: recommended / worth repeating!

One of my favorite cafes in London! The Indian food here is incredibly delicious and perfectly spicy. The restaurant is spacious, beautifully decorated, and offers efficient, friendly service. We tried the thali and green curry—both were excellent. A great spot for a pre-theater meal, with quick service that ensures you’re on time. Highly recommend! ⭐️

The curry was unbelievably delicious, and I'm particularly fussy when it comes to Indian food. The best I have ever tasted in my life. It was nice that the restaurant let us finish our wine after we had had our food and didn't rush us. Amazing place.

The kind, warm manner of the serving staff as well as the delicious food made us have a fantastic time at this restaurant despite it being packed in there that evening. The waiters were dealing with a very busy evening, being rushed off their feet with tending to swarms of customers but still giving us a great time with a kind smile which was real credit to them. A special shoutout to our waiter Ramiro (spelling might be off but his name sounded like that!). The only thing I would say is that the guy in the suit who seemed to be their manager, was a little abrupt in his manner towards us and I don’t believe that he treats his staff well either. But thanks to his staff’s kindness and warmth, we could look past his own aloofness and enjoyed our night.

The food was just okay. Our waiter declined to bring us any samosas, even though the table next to us received some.

I am writing to express my deep frustration with our experience at Masala Zone Covent Garden on February 10th. It was meant to be a special evening, but unfortunately, it turned into an incredibly disappointing and distressing situation. My wife has been a vegetarian her entire life, and we specifically ordered a vegetarian thali for her. However, the staff mistakenly served her a prawn curry thali. She only realized this when a prawn was already in her mouth, which was extremely upsetting for her. This is a major and unacceptable error that should never happen, especially in a restaurant of your reputation. To make matters worse, the staff member who took our order was not apologetic in the slightest. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she was dismissive and argumentative, making it seem as if we were at fault. This lack of accountability and customer service was shocking and completely unacceptable.

Unfortunately, not exactly what I expected, we came after balet for a late dinner on Saturday, and the server wasn’t friendly at all. We asked for Samosa, we wanted to have a classic one, but he told us that they don’t have it. Well… we were extremely surprised when the table next to us got one… additionally we had Safran Chicken Korma, which was a bit plane. There are a lot of great Indian places in London, this one to avoid.

Always go to this restaurant when I'm in the area. One of the few places left that reminds us of home cooked food. Well balanced spices and meat cooked just right. Only downside is space. I like a quiet corner. Doesn't stop me from going there though. Food is lovely. We had the lamb sliders and samosa chaat. For the main, it was butter chicken with buttered naan. Our usual order.

The atmosphere is really good, I felt it’s a nice a place to go for a meal with friend’s out family. The staff are very polite and helpful. I felt the prices are a bit expensive, probably because it’s London but the quantity and price are a real mismatch. However, the taste is really good. I tried madras chicken 65 and lamb curry thali, both tasted good. My Suggestion is, for the price of thali, you can include one plain naan and may be exclude dal from it.

I think it is too expensive for the food served. Yes, it is right in Covent Garden, so it might be expected to be pricey, but at least the food could be more exciting in flavours.

Very delicious. The taste of Indian food is true to its origins, in all honesty. We ordered chicken biryani, meat biryani, butter chicken, and chicken 65, but the meat biryani was strange, it did not look like biryani at all, but it was sweet, and our bill was 80 pounds, including drinks and service, 10 pounds.

The restaurant offered a great ambiance and delicious food, but I found the vegetarian options somewhat limited. However, the service was excellent, with staff attentive to food allergies and ensuring a pleasant experience overall.

A terrible dinner experience, we would not eat here again. At the end of the dinner a mouse ran down the wooden facade on the wall we were seated against. Despite our clear anguish the staff did not approach us or offer any assistance. We had noticed a high pitched noise throughout the dinner (a mouse deterrent). We then explained what we had seen to the staff who did not appear surprised at all. This is evidently a known problem and it is absolutely unacceptable in a restaurant.

Do not eat here unless you want mice running around on the walls behind your head.

The food was ok and the service was fine. There was a high pitched noise throughout the meal that was bothering us all. We wondered what it was. At the end of the meal I saw a mouse scurry along the wall. This explained the high pitched noise (a mouse deterrent). When we asked the staff about it they were not surprised. They said they would raise it with the manager but it is clearly a known problem. Completely unacceptable to keep carrying on like that.

Everything was good. The only thing that needs slight improvement is quantity of the food. Places like Dishoom offer same quality of food with better quantity.

Came here in November for a group meal. Food was good but unfortunately we saw mice running along the walls which was very disappointing.

Pre theater we were looking for a place to dine in, found this place conveniently located near the lyceum theater. Greeted and welcomed by friendly staff..the menu had some amazing dishes to choose from. I fell in love with all the starters, and they had a offer with all main dishes the starters were 50% off. All generous portions and reasonably priced. Awesome flavours we were very happy Recommend the chicken 65 it was bang on.

Lovely food, and excellent speedy service despite being packed out. Some of the items disappointed, such as the bhel puri, bit too sweet, and the chapatti, it was a bit hard and tough. But naan was lovely and fluffy and so was the pani puri, dahi puri, and the paneer curry. Atmosphere and vibes were immaculate. It made the dining experience very enjoyable. Makes for a cute date night, as well as a great catch up with friends and family. Small portions and a bit overpriced, £7 for a lassi!? As a native Indian, I found this hilarious. Maybe as it’s the restaurant is located in central London this is ‘justified’. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We been here today first time with friends, we were expecting a lot as per google reviews but got disappointed with portion of food,as me and friends felt overpriced and we felt we paid too much. Food was alright too, it’s just high up unnecessarily We felt regret to book this place If you are Indian and totally foodie person then not right place for you Also there was no such choices of nonalcoholic drinks much and curry, only few of them. Only restaurants atmosphere was good and interior.

Very small portions and super expensive dishes. A curry dish around £17 and the portion is like a side dish. A portion of tiny chapatis almost £6. Even their soft drinks are over £5. NOT WORRY it.
