We visited the Barbican Tandoori for our wedding anniversary. The service was excellent and the pizza was delicious. I can't recommend it enough. If you go ask for the 'Off the menu special' - it's amazing!!

My office in the area and sometime I love to treat myself with a good indian food. This is one of the best Tandoori I ever had. Juicy, perfectly spicy. Surely a good quick lunch to try

Ubicado en la parte trasera del aparcamiento pub, es bastante tranquilo. Limpio, ordenado y no carga lo que dice". Cerca de un pequeño desfile de tiendas - 1 minutos a pie, y si no quieres comer o beber en el pub que por derecho propio, ofrece muy buena comida, hay unos cuantos restaurantes en el desfile incluye un excelente restaurante de pescado y comer en chip (o), un italiano, un asador, un restaurante francés, etc. Buena relación dentro y fuera de buena relación calidad-precio.

My husband and I were heading to the Barbican and noticed the restaurant and decided to give it a try. This was lunch time on a Saturday. I wish we had found it at the start rather than at the end of our holiday as we certainly would have returned again. We each ordered starters and a main dish and then shared them all between us. Everything was delicious. My husband enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine - just the house red but it was very nice. Our waiter Noor could not have been more helpful. It was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had in London - quiet pleasant surroundings and really good food. We certainly will be returning to this restaurant on our next visit to London.

He llevado a colegas, amigos, familiares e incluso las fechas aquí. El personal era siempre agradable y amable, y me alegra ver que nosotros. El restaurante en sí era bastante pequeña con la mayoría de los asientos de la planta baja por debajo de la planta baja, pero siempre fueron capaces de atender a grandes grupos a corto plazo. Para mí, el ambiente acogedor añadido al encanto del lugar. Siempre me pareció que la comida aquí para ser excepcional: nos dieron algunos platos picantes y espléndido, original principales. El pollo tikka arranque (algo siempre me pide en un restaurante indio) es el mejor ejemplo que he encontrado y su reputación, a mi mente, es improbable que se sobrepasó en otro lugar.

There were some new flavours that comes from it being cooked unusually but it still has its delicious traditional taste.

Went with some colleagues after a very successful Christmas meal here. Again incredible food burly disappointed when the chef was leaving. Will give it a try in the future to hope new chef loves up to great standard red. Great good and service.

To be honest I am not really a Tandoori kind of guy however I was talked in to going here, albeit after a few local pubs previously visited. Walking in to the place there was a great lively atmosphere and great customer care approach to their guest's. We were really made to feel welcome in the place after we walked in even though we were a little lively by that time. When the food came it was really well presented and to my amazement I actually enjoyed it a lot, actually asking for more. Again I am not a Tandoori lover but based on my good experience I would advise you to check this place out, highly recommended.

this was really outstanding and still i could feel that taste. Barbican tandoori stands above them all, baking up superlative chicken, pizzas, and fries, and constantly pushing the boundaries to make each bite better. these are the type you dream about, shatteringly flaky outside, soft but never gummy or dense.

An absolute must do whilst visiting Toronto. The Hornblower boat gets so incredibly close to the Falls it takes your breath away to realise where you are. Thank goodness for the handout of ponchos as they certainly help not getting so drenched from the sprays and mist. Wonderful experience.

The service is impeccable and the food. Very affordable as an eating experience. Two of them were the best of that food item that I'd ever eaten in. Looking foward to visit again.

We had a great experience here with my friends and this place is awesome. Go to this place and you will feel really good. The wine was good and the service attentive and friendly. The ambience/lighting is good and no one is rushing you out the door. I give a 10 feedback to this place. Nice place !

I was very hungry and i found food is ok to have and i felt its delicious too and i m thankful to the person who has suggested me to this restaurant.

Don't be fooled by the voucher value. Just checked in, can't be used for the safe or towels. Can be used for the a la Carter restaurant ,but as we are all inclusive with the family,10 of us, it's pretty useless.Barcelo should be more honest and say just what the voucher is worth.

Overall, a good experience. I had a good chicken korma, the staff were friendly...can't complain! (It helps it's near where I live ;)

I'm amazed at the other reviews here - perhaps they're written by tourists who know no better - but this was one of the worst experiences I've had in an Indian restaurant in London. Dingy basement, offhand service, suspiciously expensive bill scrawled incomprehensibly (and they kept pressurising us to pay cash to avoid having to pay bank charges) and absolutely dreadful food - bland, both my main and side dishes tasted exactly the same, slightly off-tasting, my popadom was burnt etc. We had gone there for a pre-theatre meal but I wish I'd done more research! Just don't go!!

this is one of the best tandoori what we had but the marination would had been better, and also a bit of smile on the faces. But we will still come back as the food is cooked fresh.

Went to restaurant without a booking with a group of old colleagues, could not have asked for better service or meal. A full range of traditional Indian meals served promptly and with good old fashion service. Nothing was to much for the staff there. Great quality food.

Nice place typically a restaurant which you find almost everywhere in London. Food was good. Ambience is ok, not really for a romantic dinner but you can't get it all.

I went with some friends to eat something because we were starving. Unfortunately the staff didn't show any willing to help us at all, probably they were very busy to chat each other.

My son and I ate here before a performance of Henry V at the Barbican. We arrived at 18:15 and the performance started at 19:15 so we needed quick service and we got it and we made the theatre on time despite having to make our way through the notoriously confusing Barbican High Walkways to the even more notoriously confusing Barbican arts centre. The seating is in the basement so there is no natural light and the decor is a bit faded and random - a picture of Chinese junks in an Indian restaurant? However it’s the food that matters and this was good. I had the tandoori mixed grill ie chicken, lamb and a sausage-type element, which comes with a nan and a salad side plate where the only negative thing about any of the food was that the lettuce was a bit limp. I had a vegetable side dish, chana massalla (chick peas) and a glass of cobra beer. My son had the lamb tikka massalla. We both had pilau rice. The food was well cooked and tasty and good value for this part of London at £34.95. If you like Indian food and want a quick pre-theatre bite with decent portions at a reasonable price and are not fussy about the decor, this is a very convenient venue and I'd certainly use it again.

Went in last night for dinner with some friends. Almost empty so no excuses but the service was shocking. They took ages to take our order (even poppadoms!) and when the food did come it was over salted but lacking in flavour. I could have forgiven the food had the service been even vaguely respectful but it was dire. Toilet was filthy - the floor looked like it had never seen a mop. At the end of the meal the waiter told us they couldn't take cards. Seriously.

We stepped in almost by mistake, I have to say that although the atmosphere may not be the most indian one, the food is very good, service is extremely nice and professional.

I went to the Barbican for a performance and decided to drop in for a quick dinner. Big mistake. The service was simply terrible. The staff spent all the time chatting loudly among themselves while ignoring the customers. When I asked a question about a billing discrepancy they refused to answer and told me to get lost, hand gestures et al. The food was okay but it's not worth getting insulted over.

This was a friendly restaurant, the cavernous space, on the 'wrong' side of Smithfield Market meant it was too empty, too often and therefore just didn't seem welcoming and I imagine that's partly why it closed, although that's purely my speculation. I hope the staff and owners find a better place for their tasty cuisine and excellent service.

Contrary to the times listed, Barbican Tandoori does open in the evening ! Had dinner with my father here. Both of us were happy with the food and felt it was reasonable value for money. Decor could do with a little updating, and you are eating in a basement with no natural light. Staff were friendly, menu could have done with a little more detail for some of the less known dishes. Would happily visit again.

Attentive staff, pleasant surroundings, QUIET so you can actually talk and perhaps discuss the play/film etc. But their "ganache"was more like a dark chocolate bar.

We've been having dinner delivered from this restaurant for the past 10 years.Always tasty and fresh Indian food. I love the king prawn balti with nan bread.Everything is very good and they deliver with 30 minutes !!!

I and my partner had a lovely stay here. Staff was amazing, helpful and making you feel really confordable. Everything was super clean and tidy. I would definitely come back and I am recommending this resort to enyone who wants to enjoy peacefull vacation on Carrabien cost.

I wen to this restaurant with work colleagues to celebrate a work event. The restaurant was chosen by my colleague. There were 6 of us in total eating out that evening and this one was close by to our place of work so we decided to go there.The Food:The food was average. I had a prawn puri starter as well as a veg samosa. The prawns were good but the samosa was dry and below average I have tasted a lot better. My colleagues ordered a couple of Mumbai platters and a couple of lamb samosas. They were generally happy with their starters. For the mains I was limited on choice and spoke to my other colleagues about expecting a dal makhani at the very least for an indian restaurant. The waiter said it was no problem and that the chefs could prepare this. However when it came out of the kitchen. It was nowhere near a dal makhani. It was a sweet yellow lentil dish. Whereas a dal makhani is cooked with black lentils and is pretty savoury. It is the worst "dal makhani" I have ever tasted in my life!! I think it would have been better if the waiter had now not offered. The other items such as the naan and rice were all pretty good. My colleagues found their non-vegetarian dishes at par, but nothing spectacular.One colleague felt the dish was rather overspicedService:The service was very good. Although the "dal makhani" was shambolic, the fact that the waiter (out of his own initiative) offered to get the dish made for me, was very thoughtful indeed. The restaurant was empty when we went to eat, but the waiters were very attentive and responsive to our needs. All were also very polite.Cleanliness:The restaurant was clean! I was heading to the Barbican Centre to see a play (if you must know it was the Cumberbatch Hamlet) and was looking for somewhere to have a meal that wasn't the usual chain or franchised place you see everywhere. Eventually, a Google search and my Maps app led me to this little place, just the kind of place I was looking for. It's not as small as it looks - it's a bit like the TARDIS - the little bar on the ground floor hides the cavernous basement, where there are many more tables set out in a labyrinthine setting! It's quite cosy down there but I can imagine at peak times gets a bit crowded. The staff are welcoming and friendly and my waiter was happy to take my order for a Vegetable Madras - which is not listed on the menu. When it arrived, which didn't take long, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced for that London. I didn't have a dessert because they were all dairy-based. Perhaps they could include a sorbet for the likes of me. I was in a bit of rush to get to Cumberbatch but the next time I have cause to go to the Barbican, I will plan the trip to include a more leisurely visit to this place.

This is a great value Indian Restaurant just a few minutes walk from the Barbican Centre ideal for a pre theatre meal. The general area around the Barbican surprisingly does not seem to have much choice in restaurants so this was a great find. Service is quick and friendly and the menu offers all the traditional favourites including a good vegetarian choice of dishes and the food was very flavoursome - curries being available in mild, medium or hot versions. Prices are very reasonable for London and we will definitely visit again when attending productions at the Barbican,

The food here is good most of the time and the service too, but never very busy maybe because the restaurant is in the basement so on the street it looks like a takeaway only. Located near the Barbican station, under the Museum f London on the southwest corner of the Barbican, very convenient.

I went there with my wife and daughter after attending a graduation service and it was ideal for a relaxed meal where formality was not the order of the day.

Meal was rather good but take care at the bill : they try to input 10% for service but it isn't featured in the menu. We protest and obtain a discount but this is a singular way of trying to gain money. Prices are average food is too.

The Dal Makhani was a joke! I'm Indian I know what Dal Makhani is and what they sent me as Dal Makhani was not it! Not only that it tasted awful! Definetly not worth paying £6.50 over. The Mutter Paneer was so so ditto with the rice and Saag. I will certainly not be ordering from this place ever again!

Myself & my Girlfriend went to the Barbican Tandoori after a hectic day in London, we just wanted to find a nice calm place for some nice Indian food, which we found so well!! I would highly recommend this place, from the outside it does look more like a takeaway but as soon as you go in you are warmly welcomed to a table. The service was super fast and the price was brilliant, especially for London aswel. We had starters and mains with a Naan bread & a bottle of wine and it came to £50. Again I would certainly recommend.

Ho visitato questo ristorante in più di un'occasione assieme a familiari e colleghi, dopo dei concerti tenuti alla vicinissima "Barbican Hall"...L'ambiente è spartano, senza pretese, ma comunque assolutamente pulito ed accogliente...Il cibo è molto buono, i sapori forti e ben assortiti, sempre generose le porzioni...non voglio dire che sia una cucina pesante, ma...diciamo che non ci si alza da tavola con l'impressione di aver mangiato un'insalatina e cubetti di tofu...del resto, non ci si recherebbe in un ristorante indiano se si andasse in cerca di questo tipo di pietanze...Lo consiglio vivamente, ritornerò senza dubbio...

The prices for lunch are a little too high, especially with cheap Indian food available a few minutes walk away at Whitecross market. The food is good but some of the sauces are a little too heavy on the vinegar. If eating at lunch time you are ushered downstairs which is a little dingy on a sunny day and there is no mobile signal. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient, all in all a tasty meal.

I've been coming here for years and I can honestly say its one of the top 3 Indians I've had! The Lamb Sag, Palau Rice is amazing, the Lamb Madras is lovely, Great chicken korma and a bloody good vindaloo, great poppadum's and ice cold cobra! What more could you ask?

Myself and a work associate pitched up without booking one evening and we were made to feel really welcome, we weren't hurried (apart from getting some beer to us nice and quickly) and generally very impressed with the atmosphere, the pace, the food itself (fairly run-of-the-mill indian fare - but well done), the service and the value for money. As a whole package it was enough - from the first visit - to feel it would be easy to go back.Thank you, staff and management of the Barbican Tandoori.
