The fact that we had breakfast here every day of our holiday says it all. A small bakery with limited seating opposite a large pay for car park. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive on each of our 7 visits. The bacon rolls were very yummy, the Belgium buns Hugh and also yummy and prices very reasonable. Dog friendly too, what’s not to love. We will definitely be back on our next trip

Completely tasteless. Boiled potato and onion, no seasoning to speak of and barely a tablespoon of meat in a large £5.00 pasty.

This is such a rip off. The pasty looks good but it is full of air with virtually no filling. A slither of onion and a couple of undercooked potato slices. No flavour. No cheese in a cheese and onion pasty. It is all just pastry. Avoid.

We always enjoy visiting Martins for breakfast and treats on our visits to Looe. The bacon rolls are yummy, the Belgium buns Hugh and the jam donuts top class. The staff were welcoming and friendly, service efficient and prices more than reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Somewhere in the last 18 months this place has gone to pieces. Last time I visited it was excellent. Today, the staff are ignorant, rude and really don’t care. The food is terrible, cheese and onion pasty with no cheese in it, just potato and no seasoning. Choux bun that’s burnt underneath the topping. No provision for kids whatsoever…. And very overpriced to boot. Don’t bother… there are far more welcoming and wholesome places to eat only a short walk away.

The pasties in the window display looked nicer than the ones actually sold inside. Bought pasties to take back to London, they were potato pies really, spot the missing meat, no pepper so very tasteless. Scones were okay but the cream bought there (on the 18th) in date until the 22nd was mouldy when I checked it on the way home! Funny as the cream on display was dated the 29th! This must have been “under the counter, let’s get rid of it stuff”. The staff member serving was arrogant and stroppy. Just shoved the card machine in front of me without even telling me how much I needed to pay - really! Learn some manners young lady. This shop is best avoided.

Been to Cornwall many times over the years several prior covid. I had a large beef pasty that was delicious. It was certainly large. Outer pastry case was very light and good. The filling was very generous filling the outer pastry case with beef and vegetables. The Bakewell tart I purchased at the same time was also of a very high quality. No wonder there was a long queue waiting to be served. Highly recommended.

You’d never eat a pasty again if this was your first experience! We rarely have them as it’s not our staple diet so this is a treat. Ridiculously bland except for over the top pepper to try and disguise the minuscule amount of meat I’ve ever seen in a ‘traditional’ Cornish pasty. I feel that this place by far let’s the true Cornish down. I dread to think what delights I’d find in ‘The Miners’ version. There was so much potato it could cause a potato famine and the teeny amount of carrot I found couldn’t keep the tiniest creature alive. Never ever would we buy from there again. After speaking to locals who confirmed what we’d found. They don’t shop there. Huge disappointment. On the plus, they offer vegetarian options. They’re not telling fibs! Rip off doesn’t come close. It was the ONLY bakery with stacks of pasties, every other were sold out completely, hence our desperation. Oh and one of the young members of staff thought it was appropriate to mumble a sarcastic remark when a fellow customer politely asked for a drink of coffee. How on earth they’re still in business I don’t know. Who are these people who rave about this produce?!

Visited in half term, overall appearance of cafe poor. Broken plastic chairs, dirty floor, cold coffee. Staff questioning was what ordered, surely the choice is that of the customer. If it wasn’t that kids were thirsty would not have stayed. Was shocked at prices when bill arrived ( I know things have gone up) totally overpriced for the stale cakes we had. Would not recommend or visit again. Went to a pub down the road for lunch and drinks bill for that was only £ 7.00 more than cakes & coffee.

Today i went martin, i had me pasty to take away. ye see, i got me pasty and it was cold, so i asked for it to be warmed up which seemed to be a problem for the worker. I got it back still cold but i just accepted it, i bit into me pasty and it was lovely, a nice taste to it despite my old taste buds. Furthermore, the tables were very sticky due to the sanitation on them, very uncomfterble. The price of said pastys is mental, to be honest, im on me pension and i cant afford to spend £4.30 each day. Occasionally, martins dairy is a nice place to eat, however on the most part its rushed, tacky, gross, and not very thoughtful, let alone the price of it. Personally would not recommend

Looking in the window of Martins Dairy you would be forgiven for thinking that you were in for a real Cornish treat. Had I not had a pasty before I don’t think that I would have had another one after today. I had a traditional pasty And whilst visually it looked great the contents were far from what constitutes a pasty. If you you like a minuscule amount of cheap flavourless minced meat and love onions this is the pasty for you. It was 90% onion, 8% potato/swede and 2% meat. It was so bad I took it back and was told that maybe that batch wasn’t good and given a replacement which was equally as bad. Even my dog turned its nose up at it and it was placed where it rightfully belonged - in the bin.My son’s had a cheese and onion pasty which didn’t fair much better. The pastry was floppy and the filling was 80% onion and 20% cheese. I thought it would be impossible to get a bad pasty in Cornwall - alas I was wrong. Martin’s Dairy holds that crown for sure.

Dropped in just before they were closing.. I mean who can resist a DIY cream team for 2 for under a fiver! Quality jam and rods clotted cream and scones that are fluffy and incredibly light... taste is sublime!

Visited Martin's while we were on a day out in Looe. The bakery has a great range of baked goods and the prices are excellent. We had a delicious cream tea with a lovely pot of tea and a coffee. The staff were very friendly.

It's a rarity to find a local, family run bakery these days, that isn't 'artisan', a multinational (e.g. Costa or Gregg's) or overpriced and gentrified. Martin's Diary was affordable, unpretentious and friendly; after a day's walking their baked Cornish Pasty was belting. So good in fact, that I returned on following days for a Cherry Shortbread and Chelsea Bun for the drive home. Very good quality, locally-sourced and very affordable. It's no wonder the choice cakes sell fast!

We didn't eat in, we just bought scones for a "do it yourself" cream tea. They were utterly wonderful, chunky and fresh with a crunchy crust and soft fluffy interior.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

The staff were friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good. It's about as good as you could hope for from a family friendly restaurant at the price that it is.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

An unexpected delight. Popped in for an impromptu late lunch, lovely food and even better service. Many thanks, please don't change!
