Went here today on my visit to Mevagissey and bought a large pasty. Let me tell you it’s the best pasty I have ever had, it was full of meat and veg it looked and tasted amazing, the crust was just right not hard or too crusty . It was that good I went back for another to take back to the hotel . This bakery is a little gem honestly it really is . I have had pasty’s all over Cornwall on my travels and this lovely bakery beats the lot! Don’t take my word for it! Try one ! I am on holiday fir a week staying in Falmouth and wish I could go back but it’s too far. I will be there next year. Yvonne

Despite being assured by the manager of the shop that the cakes I purchased at 10.30am were today's I was given 2 stale cakes. When I complained they insisted that the cakes were delivered today, even their main office said the cakes I purchased had been delivered that day. My only assumption is that their cakes are stale and inedible. I threw them away and when I complained I was accused of being rude. I won't be going to this shop again and like some others who have written reviews, I found the staff rude.

While Martin’s Bakery’s GF baked goods are not made on site, I was so excited to have finally found a gluten-free cheese and onion Cornish pasty as it was my first one ever! The staff were so kind and accommodating about my dietary needs. It definitely made up for the fact that I had to bring the pasty home to bake it since it was only semi-baked and frozen. When I did have my pasty that night, it was so yummy. My husband and I also had a DIY cream tea with GF fruit scones from here that we took to a nearby bench. Scones were heated up for us (as they were also frozen), and they were delicious! We purchased our takeaway tea from She Sells down the road to go with our scones/clotted cream/strawberry jam, and it made for a wonderful afternoon break while in Meva. Highly recommend for those also on the hunt for gluten-free treats while in town.

This morning traffic delayed delivery to the store. Instead of letting the substantial number queueing outside the locked store know that there was a problem, it took a young man, unaware no doubt of the fearsome reputation of the manager, to knock on the door. It was opened by the member of staff, who is always courteous, to apologise for the delay and after 25minutes a notice was pinned on the door saying "will be open later". I returned almost an hour later after the delivery had been received to be informed that I must wait another half hour to be served. It was quite possible to have served me, but the manager is a woman who does not value customers. I shall vote with my feet. Many locals seem to share my view, that one bad apple etc.. etc..

Used Martins as they have a great assortment of cakes. Delicious saffron and heavy cake and then we saw the swiss rolls and thought the cherry one sounded lush,so one was bought. Now we thought the cherry referred to the filling but it was the cake mixture which had cherries in it and for a large cake we had about 6 pieces of cherry in,disappointed. Never mind every thing else was lovely with great service.

I had read some good reviews on this shop so really wanted to try their pasties, always striving for the most traditional 'real' ones I can find! A very ordinary building from the outside, walked in and a very traditional old fashioned lay out inside. Mother and daughter serving us, we chatted to them and told them we were visiting off the back of trip advisor comments to which the Mother looked totally blank, clearly not understanding. The daughter was bemused and teased her Mum about not knowing about anything on the Internet and it is this that makes the place what it is, unpretentious.Pasties were absolutely delicious, we were offered hot or cold but we were taking them away with us so opted for cold. Also bought some Cornish saffron buns that also were superb! Love these old fashioned places with a certain ignorance of modern, Internet facilities, somehow makes them more special and niche in this day and age!
