Marsh Mill Tavern in Wyre

I visited yesterday for a meeting .coffee and cake ..out of this world wow. Fantastic staff and well done to Sarah.Mark.Dave.Michael. You all went above and beyond... Meeting will take place all the time Thank you.

A great place for an evening with family and friends. We visited on the 17th October 2024, and we're very impressed. It was very busy when we first entered, but still all the staff were pleasant, smiling and very efficient. We had booked a table, and were quickly shown to it by the manager, who met us at the door. Bar staff were busy serving, so he stepped in and took our order - always good to see, when management step in to help at busy times. We had a carvery, and we're very impressed by the range of vegetables on offer, as well as the beautifully carved meat and enormous Yorkshire puddings. The carvery chef was brilliant - so quick, yet treating every customer well, smiling and pleasant. Our food was beautifully cooked and tasty, and very good value for money. A lovely evening, which we will be repeating as soon as we can

Absolutely lovely place, staff fantastic all friendly and attentive, the restaurant is clean and just has a totally different vibe, beach huts with tv's outside never seen that before, a really novel idea, we chose the regular carvery, well it was huge! Meat delicious massive choice of veg , all delicious and the yorkshire puddings were the best I've had anywhere for a long long time, lobed it and will be back!

On Sunday we had a very enjoyable carvery the staff were very pleasant and polite and they were more than willing to help Dave the deputy general manager made us very welcome on arrival and made sure we were well looked after. The prices were very reasonable and the menu has a good range of meals that would suit everyone. The cakes are so very nice and take home if unable to finish as portions are not small. Will be back again to this place.

What can I say we had the set menu 3 course what great value, the food was excellent from start to finish. We both had Rump steak and I can honestly say it was cooked to perfection So do not hesitate to go we will definitely be back Brilliant

Whilst this is "just" a Joseph Holt pub its an especially nice one. Inside it is well presented. Outside it has some "beach huts" with TVs built in. The food is very well made and tasty. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We ordered some kids meals and when it arrived my youngest daughter suddenly decided she didn't want the mash that she ordered and wanted chips. The waitress said she would bring chips at no extra charge! There was other examples too like offering to take a family picture of us on my phone when they saw us taking a selfie. I would definitely recommend this place to families looking for a pub meal.

DON'T BOTHER. Well if you like a lasagne in the shape of a salmon fillet also cooked and warmed up numerous times resulting in a very weird shape piece of food that's stuck to the bottom of the dish and the rest like really tough rubber with hardly no meat then go ahead, mind you it comes with a salad, lol, Two of the smallest lettuce leaves have ever seen a quarter of a piece of really dried up tomatoe, along with twp pieces of garlic bread which went so hard in the matter of minutes then you'll love it. Really absolutely minging. Really wish I could get my money back now. Will never go back again terrible food a right rip off.

Service was excellent by very pleasant attentive staff. Food was delicious. My only complaint was all the ice cream desserts are (ve) which is fine for the vegans, however, those of us that prefer real dairy ice cream and real dairy cream are completely left out.

Carvery was outstanding!! Plenty of meat and so worth it! One person had the hummus and a chicken and bacon wrap and it was amazing! Love the outdoor area and staff were very polite and attentive. Will definitely going back!

Very nice food and well looked after Food was amazing we will be back again no doubt seen some big improvements here and definitely Cavery looked really good on Sunday although the line was huge we opted for main menu. Definitely will go for carvery next time

Upon arrival we where greeted by well mannered well dressed members of staff , shown to our table in a very clean and well presented dining room area ( one member of staff even wiping down chairs as they reset a table ) very good attention to detail . Not only is the carvery well displayed the food was exactly as you would want it , again with all serving areas kept clean and free from any build up of spilt items . Very refreshing to see a manager that works along side their staff in keeping the restaurant clean tidy and customer ready , value for money flows through to all items we had mains drinks and sweets . Well worth a visit as we will be doing ourselves in the future .

Dinner was booked for 19:30 and with England playing at 20:00 I asked if we could be seated away from football supporters - this was sorted and a great seating area was set up. There was also a concern that as we were the last diners that evening the food would be dry - this was far from what was on offer - there was plenty of each choice and the chef was very polite including the bar staff who brought our drinks to the table. All in all - it was a great night, good food, good polite staff and well worth the money. They even took Blue light card which was a great saving on the bill for six people😜👍

Management need to take on board the comments and also look at the food the cook produces. I'm not saying chef as the food when I attended was disgusting. I opted for the carvery and what a mistake that was, everything was cold, fresh produce put on top of the produce that was half way down, dry and roast potatoes looked like they had been shown the oven and then put in a bowl they were so white. They should be brown and crispy. I would have given no stars if this had been an option it was so bad. Maybe employ a trained chef it's not difficult to cook vegetables and a roast.

Worst meal we have ever had here.My cheese and onion pie was burnt and when I mentioned it to the waitress she agreed and said it had been in the oven too long and offered me some gravy!!! Chips were also dry.My husbands fish was watery and luke warm.We wondered if the chef had been changed as never had a poor meal like this before.We will not be back.

Disgusting had turkey and ham all bits end of the roast, roast and mash terrible, mineral water over £2. Would I go again never

70th Birthday celebration for my husband today. 10 people, including 2 young children. Excellent food. Everything perfectly cooked and our son’s rare steak was done to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so kind to the children Very friendly and engaging staff. Karina looked after us very well. Thank you. Highly recommend.

Went to the Tavern , with the family for an evening meal. Three adults , one child The food took far too long to arrive . We arrived at 7.15pm and the food arrived an hour later ! Although the meal was nice, it wasn't great. The Wexford Chicken was disappointing in flavour and the House Salad with Chicken and Bacon wet and soggy . Once more the rasher of bacon had been wafted over the salad to constitute part of the dish. Our two plates had little bacon. Staff very nice and atmosphere very pleasant .

The most amazing lunch date last week with my husband. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious! Sarah the new manager is wonderful, soo welcoming and friendly! Mark the head chef was also very friendly and lovely to talk too! All the staff looked happy and the place was spotless. Will most definitely be returning very soon! ❤️😀

We called in tonight for a carvery and as always 1st class. Very good variety of vegetables. Becky very professional and helpful. Highly recommend. Ps if you have the carrot cake as a desert do not have a big meal . Looking forward to going back soon.

We ordered the small carvery which was served on what you would call a side plate. However due to the quality of the food you wouldn't want a large one. The roast beef wasn't bad, parsnips would need a saw to cut through them "roast potatoes" tasted like boiled spuds chucked in some old cooking oil. Yorkshire pud was rock hard on top and had a soggy bottom. Food was just about warm enough to eat but went cold quite soon. The vegetables are obviously not being replaced until the serving dishes are empty and are languishing on some sort of inferior hot plate for too long. The only staff seemed to be two pleasant young girls who were doing everything. Would not recommend. The prices for the "Pub Classics" are very steep and there is no option for sandwiches or toasties if you want a light snack.

Joined friends for a drink & they had been waiting 40 mins for food. They had enquired twice already & could see 2 of their plates under the light keeping warm for 10 mins. My friend went over again to express her dissatisfaction & the attitude of the staff was utterly appalling. One waitress said “ you were told there would be a wait” .. they weren’t & we were going to the theatre. I said we won’t be coming again to which she agreed! She also said they should’ve have opted for the carvery! Food arrived & the chicken wings came with the comment “ they’re nice & crispy for you” they were duly returned as inedible. Final straw was the manager coming over, not to apologise but to accuse my friend of screaming at a staff member who was now in tears. She had simply been expressing her frustration & although cross she was not screaming. Full refund given, some of the food was actually tasty but the whole experience was soured by the staff’s attitude.

huge disappointment again , third time now in last 2 month. carvery use to be very good,not any more .food not hot even when busy. they offer to microwave it for you,if I wanted a microwave meal I would go to iceland. won't be going back.

Had to remind staff of our order after waiting 40 minutes - it had been forgotten and we didn’t get any apology. Poor disinterested staff. Fish and chips tasteless. Will not be going again. Hope future customers will find this review helpful.

I went for a carvery and the mash is to die for!!! Love the veg they offer (lovely parsnips, carrots sprouts n cauliflower). Staff were very nice as well

We went on Fish Friday and although they do not do gluten free batter they did offer to steam the haddock which I had and was tasty. There was some confusion on the different offers they had on and one member of staff said we could have one thing but then we couldnt etc. They also had a couple of desert options that were gluten free which was a big plus as more and more places do not. The score of average shpuld really be good but not quite very good.

Food cold and meats from carvery not ready so limited peoples choices. Veg hard and cold and sprouts obviously frozen because they are watery in the middle. We ordered carvery for grandchild who only eats chicken or turkey so had to get a different meal for him as no turkey avaible for 10 mins, actually near half hour. This pub used to be fabulous but in the last few years it has got steadily worse. Food cold and unpleasant. Every time we decided to try it and see if things have changed it sadly hasn’t. Pity because it’s a lovely pub but not a place to eat

Lovely carvery, nice decor. Staff were all friendly. Reasonable prices. We got a take out cheesecake, but it wasn't cheesecake at all, just a whipped cream consistency. It was too sickly. I would visit again.

Plenty of Choice on the menu, everything reasonably priced. Highly recommend the small plates which they also do a deal on. The service was great and to be honest very quick. cannot grumble at all.

Shame about the racism because the food was decent. I am mixed race and went to eat here with my husband, his sister and her husband. We have lived in Thornton a couple of years now but had never tried this particular pub. My husband and I walked in and stood waiting for attention. When we realised non was coming we went to the bar where we again were completely ignored. I’m talking several minutes trying to catch someones attention while people were served around us. My husband started to get irritated at this point so when the bar staff were about to ignore us again to serve someone else that had come in behind us, I had to point out that we were actually waiting to be served. We then had to stop someone to explain we had a table booked and could they show us to our table. We all ordered the carvery. My husband and sister in law had no problems with their service but when I went up with my brother in law the chef came out, saw I was first in the queue then blatantly ignored me and asked my bil what he would like. My bil had to point out that I was literally first in the queue and therefore should be served accordingly. We had our food and it was actually quite tasty but once we had all finished the waiter came to the table and took all the plates except mine, he literally just left it right there in front of me and never came back. At this point my husband wanted to start confronting people and making a scene. Normally I would ignore this kind of behaviour since I’m no stranger to being ignored in this manner, however the party I was with were very uncomfortable and pretty disgusted with my treatment. It was so blatant. I’m still upset, my husband is absolutely furious and my in laws are embarrassed and shocked. If the goal was to prevent us returning they have passed with flying colours.

we go regularly to have a carvery at the Tavern at the Mill - always enjoy the food there - the prices are good and it has a relaxing atmosphere . We were served by a welcoming member of staff called Michael and we will be back again soon
