We always have a lovely time here. Wonderful staff and service.

A large pub in a popular area, serving a large range of drinks and food in a traditional setting and with decent staff. However the real selling point and unique aspect is the roof top terrace. It’s not a large space, and popular for private events, but if you are able to get out there it’s a real sun trap with great atmosphere and it’s own bar. The prices are pretty steep but for such a unique setting worth it. A favourite spot of mine in the area for a memorable drink.

Hi, Six years ago I gave you a three-start rating and now that I think about it and after visiting many more restaurants. I'm going to reconsider my rating and give you a five-start rating.

Stunning pub, get yourself upstairs to the terrace bar.

It's a pretty generic pub so nothing to write home about but had to write this review to say - WHY IS THE MUSIC SO LOUD!? It's not a bar, there's noone who is going there to dance, so why did they do that. The music was so loud that we had to shout at each other like you would at a club. I've never in my life been in this type of situation at any pub. And also not like the sound system was any good - nothing worse than trying to overcompensate for bad quality sound system by increasing the volume.

We were up from Bournemouth going to a show and I'd seen this pub on Instagram. It looked cool so booked for pre theatre dinner. We loved this pub The food was lovely piping hot and loads of it. Never seen Haddock and chips so huge!!! No room for puddings but we had coffees after. Lovely staff and a great experience

An extremely busy pub - we were fortunate to find a seat on a Saturday afternoon. The bar-server didn't know what a dry martini was, but I guess it isn't a drink that's currently fashionable so he could be forgiven I suppose.

Me and my friend came in for a drink and had a great night. Nadine behind the bar welcomed us with a nice smiled and made sure we had everything we needed. I got the wrong drink from another bartender and she quickly sorted the issue. The space was clean but the music good be better tbh. Maybe some more rock and disco classics :)

Great little rooftop bar..use the door to the right for the staircase up. As you'd expect it gets busy. Prices not crazy. Pint of beer under £8 and bottle of Chablis less than £60

Visited on Sunday for lunch. First and foremost the ambiance on the first floor is absolutely lovely , the service is first class from the staff. The Sunday lunch was delicious, my partner and I chose devilled lambs kidney on sour dough to start followed by the most tender flavoursome beef and all the trimmings as main course both delicious meals were accompanied by a good red wine Our waitress Maria’s service was first class, from her delicious Negronis to her great customer service all of which makes a lovely combination! Maria is a credit to the pub so are all the other staff names I do not know. I think by this review you will definitely understand why we will definitely return very soon.

Kodina is the Bomb!! Food was fabulous, atmosphere amazing, and Kondina was the cherry on top!

Popped in for a drink while on a mooch. What an amazing place. It has about 4 floors. The roof terrace is fantastic. Don't walk past... Drury lane theatre right opposite. Staff excellent.

Food was good, drinks were good, but the grumpy old man who tends the bar… what a bloody pain. Not sure if he is grumpy and rude to all or just because we’re Asians! Would NOT go back!

Nice location, solid food with generous portions. My server was helpful too. I ordered the fish and chips. It’s a generous portion. The breading was perfect. I would definitely return. There were other options on the menu I’d love to try.

Great place for a drink with a friend

Classic pub on the ground floor and a pretty rooftop bar. Tasty food - we had bread, olives, croquettes, but the highlight were especially well priced and delicious Oysters! Fast and friendly service. Good drinks, pleasant atmosphere. The bathrooms sadly needed a lot of attention throughout the evening but got none. I would usually drop a star for that, luckily the rest of the experience was so good that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as I'm planning to return, but won't be as nice the next time.

Food absolutely AMAZING! Highly recommend. We reserved a table, glad we did as extremely busy. Good service, comfortable surroundings, great location. You wont be disappointed.

We’ve been here twice now and hands down is the nicest pub I’ve ever been to in my life. Love the atmosphere and music. The music volume is great, not too loud that you have to shout but equally loud enough that you can have a good jam to it. Been here during the week and it is a little quieter but equally just as nice as on a Saturday when it is busier but lots of floors to find seating. Do wish they had old mout cider but still have rekorderlig. Free WiFi.

Really lovely space to eat. Very good food and a decent wine list too. Better still, the service is spot on. If you're considering where to eat before or after a theatre performance this is a very safe bet and has something for everyone. Extra points to them for finding and emailing me my receipt, after I'd done my usual thing of being organised enough to keep it and disorganised enough to lose it on the way home..

Really bad service yesterday lunchtime at about 3:45 in the dining room upstairs. Had a waiter who was extremely rude and patronising. Male who was 35-40 There was however a lovely waitress who came to the rescue! She was about 25-30 and was much more help in a colourful jumper.

First time visiting. Great atmosphere. All ages from 20s to 50s+ Music to match 🎵🎶. Came after a meal out ; so didn't try the food.

Excellent pint of IPA. Tonic water glass cracked, but noted and replaced at speed.

Zac was great, looked after a much larger group of us than planned. Good service and good drinks.

The staff at the Marquess of Anglesey were brilliant. Really friendly and really accommodating. We come into London on a regular basis and will use the Marquess as our start point from now on. Thank you.

Booked the rooftop area for 8 friends - we were all coming from overseas so did not know what to expect - we had exceptional service and made to feel very welcome, along with beautiful views it was a great place to meet for pre drinks :)

Had a lovely time at the The Marquess of Anglesey this afternoon, great service all around. Tai, behind the bar, was very helpful and made some great drink recommendations!

One of our favourite pubs in London, always easy to get served and the ale on tap is good.

Operating times are incorrect, unwelcoming and making fun of you that the “bar is closed”. Serving friends though

A lamb shoulder was on the menu but got served a mince lamb, which is not the same thing. We weren't proposed the dessert menu and when we asked for one, staff mentioned it was too late as the kitchen was closed.

We visited the roof terrace for drinks before dining on the first floor. Great atmosphere, service and food in a lovely pub. Special shout out to Zac and Maria for looking after us.

Good selection of beers and other drinks. Friendly service. Peroni is for sale on draft also. It's a large pub with 3 floors. We visited the pub several times. Each floor is good and has its bar. The top bar has a nice terrace with views. It does not serve Peroni. I had to descend the stairs - 62 of them to reach the lower floor where this beer is served. It's not a big deal, but for any of you who would like a Peroni, order it before you go up 62 stairs. The pub is clean, and the music on the small roof terrace was too loud to be able to converse without shouting!

We didn’t eat but the rooftop terrace was lovely. Zac is a credit to the team, his service was amazing.

Came to the rooftop for some after work drinks, great service from Florence and Zac would definitely recommend popping in and having a look!

Chicken Caesar is dry, boring and tasteless. Worst fish and chips we’ve ever eaten!! Paid £40 for these two dishes and wasn’t even worth £4

Nice little pub that surprisingly hasn't been overly busy during our last two visits and we have been able to find a table. Reasonable selection of beers on taps but don't have any darker ales or bitters so settled for a quite enjoyable IPA served by friendly staff. Prices are as expected for central London with a couple of decent beers hitting £14 approx. Will be back as clean, tidy, not extremely busy but lovely and convenient for restaurants etc

Roof terrace is a great space. Music a little loud as there are speakers in all corners, but a nice spot. I could create a tab as I booked a table, otherwise no tabs.

I was here on a work trip, traveling solo. I wound up stopping in for a few pints because I got thirsty. The bar was cool and the service staff was attentive. Oddly enough, most of the people "at" the bar weren't in it. They were on the sidewalk outside. They'd come in, order another round, then go back outside.

Very loud, very drafty, 0815 selection of drinks, dirty tables, a tourist trap. Self-service downstairs, on the roof terrace it blows you away.

Roof terrace amazing, proper sun trap! Ideal venue to meet up with friends, make sure you book though as can get busy when the weather is good!

Oh dear, why does this place have such positive reviews? I was completely underwhelmed. The service was good. The location excellent. But loud piped music was annoying for a restaurant (not really a pub on the first floor). Worst of all was the food. It was really average and not cheap. I'll definitely not return.

A friend told me the roof terrace was good and we went there with another friend on a sunny lunchtime. It would have been pleasant but for the overloud music, which was ghastly! We each separately requested they turn the volume down. We were told that the manager liked it loud. It was impossible to chat. We couldn’t wait to get away. Horrid.

We took place on the upper floor, which was comfortably not that crowded. All waiters were extremely nice and helpful - we had an issue with the food which was quickly sorted out. The veggie burger was very delicious, as well as the beer and the cider.

What a pity! Lovely outdoor terrace area at the top of this pub. Horrendously loud music. Asked the server to please turn down the music - no not possible. I note that others have made similar comments about the loud music. How come these guys don’t listen to customers. Didn’t have food. Just a pint.

Very disappointed with the service I received when I came today with my 2 year old. We (my friend of 1 baby and 1 3y/o) had just spent a day in the transport museum and was ready to take a moment to relax when I was met with hostility and a horrible attitude from the old boy behind the bar. At first I thought he was joking until another older male customer began to complain to me about my son playing. As a parent, I know when my son is being too much and loud. As a childcare professional I am also aware of signs and queues when a child especially of 2 years is overstimulated and frustrated. The argument with the customer was one thing, being a young single mum and dealing with the challenges of parenting alone but to have staff chime in and make me feel even smaller and helpless when all my 2 year old was doing to trigger the argument was roll down the ramp and shout “wee” which immediately I corrected him and told him to lower his voice. I am more upset that the prospect of an establishment that is meant to encourage customers and families, I am already vulnerable battling each parental struggle alone, I don’t appreciate my only and rare time to relax and enjoy a drink like normal adults do be ruined by the pressure of staff making me feel unwelcome as well as customers. I never write reviews, I am one to be empathetic and appreciate customer service may come from personal troubles but a grown man in a professional setting to make comments like he did and also join in on an argument between myself and another older male gentleman, it’s very upsetting. We shouldn’t be made to feel unwelcome just because we have children who are experiencing strong and overwhelming emotions, if anything I’m much more entitled to a drink than anybody else after tackling it. Very let down by this approach, staff should be aware of different circumstances and so children in general being a pub so close to the transport museum and open midday. I don’t add for sympathy but of empathies of how I feel, I am on my own, I am 22, I wanted to go for a quick drink before home like any other person. Just because my son was struggling with his emotions doesn’t make us any less of a customer than anybody else, I’m disgusted with how this man spoke to us/of us because my son who need I remind is 2 was behaving just as a 2 year old does. You never know if it would be enough to push a vulnerable over the edge as I was particularly distressed after.

The rooftop terrace has great views and more importantly friendly staff with a simple menu and good choice of drinks. Would recommend booking especially if the weather looks like it's going to be good! Will be back again soon.

This place is a great find! We booked two tables on the first floor and it was so light and airy. Was a prefect place to meet with people before a show. We had two of the platters which were both great and the staff were so attentive.

Marquess of Anglesey were very accommodating and gave us a lovely table on the first floor by the windows. Kat and her team were really attentive. We order food to share and they ensured there were enough plates and cutlery for everyone. The atmosphere was great and allowed for us to have conversations without having to shout. The cocktails were really nice too.

I watched the Euro 2024 final match here. The atmosphere, people, beers were very good.

A big thank you to the team at the Marquess. I would especially like to mention Maria, Maisie, and Dave for helping me organizes a pre concert meet up, great communication and help with the room. A great first floor venue for entertaining

We had an event at the lounge. The food and the services were excellent , also I must say the server smit was amazing.

What a great pub right by Covent Garden! Beautiful open air floors & roof top bar. Lovely food, friendly staff

This is a wonderful, airy pub with a wide beer selection and nice views over Covent Garden theatre land . The men's toilets were impeccably clean & well maintained & music was not too intrusive. However, there is 1 observation which the owners might find interesting: When I visited on Monday 17 June at 8pm , the staff were casually dressed & the pub was almost 2 thirds full . When I visited at the same time today , Friday 28 June , the staff were uniformed in beer branded tee shirts and the pub was only 1 third full even though it was a Friday .

Ordered a sausage roll and I received what was in the second photo for £6.50. I asked them how this is worth £6.50 and then I get the response that this is central London and that I can go to Greggs. On looking through their reviews I found the first image which you can see is significantly larger than what I received. That would be worth the money. Now I’m not one to usually complain but what I was served is ridiculous and the answer also given is silly and then to also see it usually being served bigger, unless that’s a sharer but based on that maths that should cost £26. I then went over the road to the cafe and got a fully sandwich for £4.80. If you’ve run out of stock, don’t serve it, if that’s your usual stock selling at that price, you’re taking the mic. Run a business that serves rather than leaches people. Won’t be eating at your place again in my life

Very rude and unhelpful staff. Empty tables but not enough chairs. I asked if i could move a chair and was told no. Horrible man hiding behind the bar with a beard then shouted. "We don't have any room for you". So me, my pregnant wife and 2 children left. Thanks for your hospitality!

Friendly and knowledgable staff who managed expectations greatly despite busy environment keeping us informed at all times. Lovely cosy roof terrace and first floor dining space. A particular thank you to the Brazilian head waiter who gave us a special bespoke service.

We had a large group booking last Saturday. We had a nice, quiet space reserved. Staff were pleasant, the service was efficient and the food was good. We were not rushed and sat there for over three hours. Took a quick peak at their cute roof terrace and will return to have drinks there at a later date.

Nice traditional style pub in covent garden. Nice place to escape the busyness of the area and good place to chat and have a nice drink!
