Marmalade's Bistro in North Norfolk

This Bistro came well recommended, as we were staying at Hoorayhenrys B&B in Sheringham. We were fortunate and managed to bag a table for 6pm and the whole experience was enjoyable and memorable. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Holly our waitress. I ordered the sirloin and the wife the chicken. Both meals were cooked to our liking, hot and very good quality. Could not fault the service, hospitality and quality of the food. Would certainly recommend giving this place a visit. You’ll not be disappointed I’m sure.

What a gem in Sheringham, delicious food, talented chef, perfect atmosphere, attentive staff, clever mix of flavours, great choice and a perfect place to relax, enjoy exquisite flavours - why did we wait so long to book! As we were on holiday in the local area we wanted somewhere special to have a little date night. Found Marmalades on Tripadvisor and decided we must give it a visit. Booking is a must! It’s a very small bistro and you’d be very lucky to get seated just walking in. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and staff very friendly. Menu is varied and has something for everyone. Food itself was freshly made and very tasty. Good value for money as well compared to some other establishments, covered in another review, no sea view, which means you pay less but the great food outweighs the lack of sea view. If you’re in the area I would check it out!

We had dinner here last Friday night. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the owner / chef is very talented. My belly pork was superb, and my wife said her chicken dish was the best she had ever eaten. Marmalades has a nice ambience, and all the other diners seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their food. You do need to book a table as it is very popular.

Marmalade’s Bistro is probably the best place to eat in the evening in Sheringham and the surrounding area. It doesn’t open every evening and you have to have a reservation. The food, the service and the ambiance were excellent. Not the cheapest place to eat but was worth every penny. Not only will we be back but would recommend it to all, for special occasions or just because everything was great. The staff were very well prepared and informed on what was being served and what was suitable for gluten free and for celiacs. A five star plus from us.

This little restaurant was a lucky find. They were very accommodating and found us a table at the last minute on a busy Friday night. The two waitresses were friendly and the service was impeccable. We both had superb meals, mushroom risotto and hake, lovely wine and at the finish the chef came out to chat with us. Highly recommended and worth all 5 stars.

I came here with friends last bank Holiday weekend 24/08/24, we booked here based on reviews and oh my goodness we were not disappointed. From the second we arrived to the second we left the service was amazing. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table by a guy (we didn't get his name but he informed he was only there for a couple of weeks helping out) who was also serving us, he was so professional and welcoming a credit to the restaurant. The food was absolutely out of this world. I highly recommend the sinkhole cheesecake, it was without a doubt the best dessert I have ever had. The chef/owner Ian even gave some time to come and speak to us about our food, he was so friendly and should be very proud of this restaurant. The only downside for me is that I don't live closer. If you do decide to come here I'd highly advise to book as it does get booked up.

Had great evening meal there with family

We had a lovely meal at Marmalade’s it was a real treat. Delicious freshly prepared food made with great thought. The service was excellent and the atmosphere convivial. We especially enjoyed the Marmalade speciality pudding ! The Sheringham Sinkhole !

Got to say this was one of the best meals out I've had for a long time. A reasonably short menu, but everything seemed perfectly chosen giving great choice. The food was excellent. Meat was perfectly cooked, we had the lamb and the pork both if which were delicious. Puddings starters and cheese, all great. Portion sizes were perfect, such that you had room for the next course without feeling bloated, but without feeling you needed more Just great. Only downside is that this is a rare visit to Sheringham so we won't be back soon, but this is definitely an incentive! Great staff too. If you want something a little more upmarket but not outrageously expensive, this is for you. Can't recommend highly enough . Practically perfect in every way . Thank you.

I don't often review restaurants, as it seems unfair to say it was just ok. However Marmalade's Bistro is superb and deserves the positive reviews it gets. We have eaten in Michelin star restaurants, and honestly this place is approaching that level. It is not just the beautiful fresh local ingredients, nor the attention to detail in their preparation (the lamb rump is cooked three times, and is the most tender and tasty you could imagine), but it is also the brilliant matching of foods on your plate, for example the pork belly comes with pickled vegs, which are a perfect accompaniment to the richness of the meat, while the seared celeriac is worth a visit for it alone! The wine list is also quite good too. All this, at effectively high street prices! You can just tell the chef is doing this for the love of food rather than making a quick profit! You probably need to book. It is very highly recommended.

Busy small restaurant with good atmosphere on a very wet July evening. Food was enjoyable although the menu hadn’t changed much since our previous visit in March. However, if you have a winning formula why change it? The staff were friendly and helpful, providing a menu to accommodate a chilli allergy. Oh! and the “sink hole” dessert was fun and enjoyable. Highly recommended if visiting Sheringham.

An amazing anniversary dinner with my husband - food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and professional (no young kids who have yet to develop conversational skills!). Arrived for second sitting so were last to leave and had the opportunity to chat with the chef/owner - a lovely end to the evening.

It’s not a large restaurant, so it felt personal and the staff were attentive and friendly. Not only was the food delicious but also presented beautifully. Our first visit to Marmalade's and if we're ever in Sheringham again we'll be sure to book again. The staff were apologetic for being slow because it was quite busy when we dined at 7pm on Tuesday evening, but we didn't notice any delay in the service. Each course was beautifully presented and the flavours of every ingredient really shone in each dish. This was a special birthday/anniversary celebration, we wouldn't normally 'push the boat out' as much, but so glad we chose Marmalade's, the experience was worth it!

Fantastic food and attentive staff! The place only has around ten tables, so be sure to ring up or pop in and book. Lamb was to die for and the steak was fantastic.

Top notch food and service at what these days you may pay in a pub for mass produced and decidedly average fare. If you're looking to pig out then go somewhere else, this is about quality, not quantity.

Was clean. Staff were ok . Food was average and not very much of it . Starter was a small round of toast and a mackerel pate which was literally a spoonful made into a quinell with a small amount to wasabi mayonnaise. Mains was equally disappointing chicken breast turned out to be one piece of chicken breast and a possible leg with a bone in it . It was an over all ok experience absolutely nothing special .

What a fabulous gem of a restaurant. Everything was superb, great menu, staff were warm welcoming and friendly and the food delicious. I had the lamb for my main and it was so delicious and tender. Will definitely be back when we next visits Sheringham.

All I can say is Wow, having been to Sheringham many times, we had a recommendation to try Marmalades Bistro. What a fantastic experience, having 3 courses, each one for my party of 3 was fantastic (lamb and cheese cake were my fav). A real find and a place I will always visit when I come back. Excellent little restaurant, we rang up last minute on the off chance & they were able to accommodate us. The staff were very welcoming & friendly. The food was of an excellent quality, my husband had a steak which he said was the best he eaten in a very long time & I had the Chicken. All beautiful cooked, nice & hot and extremely tasty. The puddings were out of this world I would highly recommend the Sinkhole Yummy cheese cake, it was delicious. If you get the opportunity to go please do you will not be disappointed.

Firstly, we liked the atmosphere service and food. I can’t fault these. If cost is not a problem for you then I’d recommend this place. However, we felt the menu was expensive when compared to other top rated restaurants locally.

We live just along the coast at Weybourne. This is our go-to restaurant in the whole of North Norfolk. Food and service is exemplary. Booking is recommended, it can get busy. Get a table here and you will not be disappointed. Treat yourself

I cannot thank the team at Marmalade’s bistro enough! Ian (Chef patron) answered my voicemail requesting a table for a last minute trip to Norfolk for my girlfriend’s birthday and our first trip away post baby! We arrived at the restaurant to a warm welcome and a thoughtful birthday card for my girlfriend. Service was swift and enjoyable in this intimate restaurant, which has been decorated with thought to the surrounding area, I especially enjoyed the driftwood being used for a lighting fixture and reclaimed wood panelling on the wall. Food arrived at a timely manner considering this is a small restaurant with one (superb) chef in the kitchen. Both of us enjoyed our food tremendously, my girlfriend having the mozzarella chicken which was cooked perfectly and moist and I had the lamb which came apart easily when I cut into it. Ian made the lovely touch of personally coming to check on our meals and wish my girlfriend a happy birthday. We opted for the sunken cheesecake which was an interactive dessert and very tasty! There was a rendition of happy birthday sung by the restaurant and many good wishes from those inside which was very kind. Once again Ian came out to speak to us and also congratulated us for the birth of our child and gifted a bottle of rose Prosecco! All in all I cannot thank Ian and his team enough for such a memorable night and I hope our gratitude is known to them. We are already planning our next trip and are keen to hopefully bring our little one as well next time Ian! Andrew and Mollie

Amazing place. Staff are genuine and friendly. Food all great and very well priced, but the Felthorpe Lamb is some of the most tender lamb you will ever have. Have been twice and can't wait to come back for thirds!

What a gem! From the second we walked in the service couldn’t have been any better. Not to much, not to little - spot on. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and they made us feel so welcome, even giving us a card and a glass of Prosecco each. The food was amazing, steak was cooked to perfection and the flavours were perfect. We don’t very often get out on our own as a couple as we have a young family, however, Ian and his team made our evening truly memorable. Thank you Ian! We are quite regular visitors to Sheringham in Norfolk, and always have at least one meal at Marmalade’s Bistro, per trip to Sheringham. Our group invariably consists of 5 friends and we know that we will have a fantastic meal in Marmalade’s Bistro with the very good wait staff, who are always friendly and helpful. If you ask a question that the staff do not know the answer to, they will find out and promptly return with an answer. We all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful meals, experience and atmosphere that we have become accustomed to at Marmalade’s. Keep up the great work, we look forward to seeing you next time we are in Sheringham, North Norfolk.

Omg, we havent eaten a meal that delicious for a long time. First time trying Marmalade after moving to the area and I can definately say we'll be back ! Incredible food, excellent service and a lovely vibe . I had chicken stuffed with mozzarella with a leek and tarragon sauce and dauphinoise potato's, soooo delicious , then for desert we shared a pineapple bread and butter pudding with toffee sauce and coconut icecream- my mouths watering just reliving it!😁 Well done all, can't wait to revisit!

Wow! This place is VERY nice!! After being unable to secure a table in September 2022 this year we booked well in advance to avoid disappointment!! The restaurant is small, intimate, cozy & relaxing. All the staff including Chef, who kindly came out of the kitchen to speak to the us as we were leaving, were extremely polite, efficient, helpful, friendly & personable. The service was at a nice pace, each course was delivered beautifully presented in a very artistic & modern style with an appropriate portion size. Both of us chose a special as a starter, the locally caught crab with chilli & lime. For mains we selected the stuffed chicken breast & the slow cooked lamb. Dessert was the sinkhole cheesecake & a blackberry panacotta. Every course was absolutely delicious, fabulously fresh. Chef had chosen high quality ingredients that were all cooked absolutely perfectly. We thought the price point was excellent for the quality of the food & the wine list was good. We absolutely loved every minute of our dining experience at Marmalade & when we are next in Sheringham we will definitely return….just wish we lived locally!! Have just had an amazing evening at Marmalade’s Bistro, Sheringham. We loved Marmalade - we think the best place to eat in Sheringham, and it would lure us back when visiting Norfolk again. The food is delicious, the Chef/owner clearly takes pride in producing menus that are expertly thought through and beautifully served, with lots of delicious local produce weaved into the menu. The cookery is produced by someone who, amongst other things, is clearly highly trained in French cookery skills. The vibe of the restaurant is very relaxed and informal, which we loved. Front of house staff are warm and friendly. We are here on a short break and treating ourselves to a second meal there on our last night ❤️.

We went to Sheringham and had yet another wonderful meal cooked by their fantastic chef. We have NEVER had a bad, or poorly cooked meal. Miserable staff. Tried to book a table at this place and whilst I've had a good meal there before, this time I couldn't get in....which is fine. However, the guy on the phone sounded so miserable and wasn't enthusiastic or helpful. He didn't make me want to try again to book another evening so I'd rate this place a 2* and that's purely because I had a good meal here a few years ago. Cheer up buttercup. If you're that miserable working there why would I want to eat there?

Came with a family of four. Adults and 11yo loved it, but I knocked off a point as my daughter is pescetarian and the only fish on the menu was served with bacon, so she ended up with a veggie risotto she didn't really enjoy.

Nice place with space between tables so other diners aren’t in your face. Good - portions on the generous size and excellent vegetarian options with some thought gone in. Not your usual predictable dishes. However both our main courses had too much salt. Chef please take note I wasn’t able to finish an otherwise superb aubergine with fennel and lentils. Otherwise a great option for good, unpretentious dining. The pictures and photos on the walls from local practitioners were an added bonus.

Visited the restaurant on the basis of the great reviews and were very disappointed. Steak over cooked and the fries were basically frozen oven chips that had been deep fried! Service not the best. Will never return.

The best crab thermidor I've ever tasted and plentiful too. The chips are to die for. All in all perfection on a plate. We will return when next in the area.
