Marks & Spencer Cafe in Lincoln

Started off wanting a sausage ciabatta, not available. Fair enough I got here later. Got the chicken burger. Said I don’t want coleslaw or anything just chicken and bread, as the menu didn’t make mention of any sauces. But I thought I’d say just chicken and the bread just incase. Food comes the mayo all over the burger. Tried to scrape it off, gave up and went up again to ask for a new bun just cause it’s full of mayo and as I said when I ordered. I didn’t want any of that. No buns left. Lowsy staff and rubbish food with no mention of any ingredients on the actual menu. Do better.

75% of the food options already unavailable in the early afternoon and some really inattentive staff. Didn't put my order through correctly leaving me with an allergen on my food so couldn't eat it. There was no interest in rectifying the situation at all so had to take my food apart and scrape as much off as possible just to eat something. Highly preventable situation if I'd have been listened to in the first instance. The food itself was definitely below average at above average prices, not a place I will ever return to or advise anyone to visit. Usually M&S is good but in this case very far from it.

Queued up for about ten minutes, by the time I had reached the counter the special deal for a croissant and drink had finished as it was past eleven o’clock deadline. When I mentioned this to the assistant on the counter she replied there was nothing that she could do about it and in future should come before 10.45 if I wanted to take advantage of the offer. Her customer service was appalling. She seemed as though she did not want to be there. There was no interaction other than the reprimand, and her face looked as though you she had swallowed a lemon. We had a latte which was lukewarm, and a pot of tea and two toasted tea cakes. The noise in the cafe was deafening due to the building work. We could not carry on a conversation. The tables were not cleared away ready for other customers. We will certainly not be frequenting this cafe in the near future. Come on M and S train your staff to be more customer friendly, a smile goes a long way. The toilets also were not to the standard one expects. They were smelly, and toilet paper was none existent.

Checked web site…” cafe” open. Travelled fair distance to Lincoln…..Cafe still closed! Checked with member of staff..now opening sometime September…. It would have been good customer service to have Web site updated ….note that Trip Advisor states Lincoln Cafe open! Disappointed…. DD

No kitchen heat now since Easter. Cardboard cups and plates very sad. When will service resume, please as we do like our Saturday treat. We are pensioners along with many others it’s our treat

The breakfast options at this cafe are, let's say, sparse. If you're looking for more than a sausage or bacon roll, you're in for a disappointing visit. You can't even have a bacon AND sausage baguette. Apparently that's either too tricky a concept. Or it's too difficult to achieve, OR it's an opportunity to insist you order both and simply pull one apart like a toddler and jam the filling in the other. Call me cynical. When the roll arrives after a hefty wait. It is delicious. No cheap rolls/baps/cobs here. Divine crusty, ciabata bread is filled with delicious produce and is undeniably tasty. Lovely food, but a breakfast menu shorter than a hermit's Christmas card list.

Disinterested serving staff, long queue at 2pm on a Monday. Very slow getting served. Weird items on menu, cheese omelet served in a bread roll! Tables not cleaned, food mediocre at best.

Arrived for Lunch with Daughter. Gastro fish/chips/peas and a lovely big pot of Tartar sauce. It was was very good,but very little amount of peas very small, chips could of be hotter. The highlight was my Daughters smoked salmon poach eggs on muffins and holandaise sauce, absolutely tasty and hot. Service was good but seemed so busy and not alot of staff,as tables needing clearing and cleaning . It was still a lovely lunch and will be back soon

Service & drinks were awful. Ordered hot chocolate no cream marshmallows,ordered a gingerbread frappe I had drunk mine & eaten a scone still not got it in that time,asked for refund & left,will not be going again!!! 😠

Very poor service, left a trainee on his own. The orders were backlogged. Myself and my Mum finished our drinks and scones and my sister still hadn't got her drink. I had ordered a hot chocolate and they didn't put any cream etc on.

Firstly - where have the saucers gone, I wouldn't have a coffee in a cuo without a saucer at home ! The latte I purchased was so bitter it was undrinkable, not up to m&s standards. The staff were too busy nattering amongst themselves.

The sandwiches are premade, why does it take so long to be served, coffee is powder plus boiling water, make it at home in mins.

Always come here when visiting family in Lincoln. Today was a total let down. Tea cakes were only half toasted, had to ask for them redoing, Cappuccino and hot chocolate were, at best, medioca. Very dissapointed for the price they charge.. should have gone to Costa and will be doing in future..

Where to start ! Queue a mile long No staff Dirty utensils So slow to serve Half hour in queue for a coffee and cake and there was 5 people on front of me that’s how slow it is x GET MORE STAFF

Asked for a luxury hot chocolate, but was told there was no chocolate cream. So the cashier said if I wanted I could have regular cream. Paid, then she rang the order through. Older member of staff who clearly wanted to assert herself over the younger team members came flying in “NO” “IT’S CHANGING THE RECIPE” “WE CAN’T DO THAT”. Astounded, we all stood there like what?! “NO, IT’S CHANGING THE RECIPE, WE CAN’T DO THAT BECAUSE OF ALLERGENS”. I said I wasn’t allergic to anything. “NO”. So I asked, do you have cream? Yes. Ok, so can I order a hot chocolate with cream on top instead? “No, because it’s not offered as an extra to hot chocolate”. I sighed. They offered me a hot chocolate without cream. I said no, I’ve paid for a luxury hot chocolate. Gave up, got a refund. Never heard anything so ridiculous in my entire life. Scone was nice though.

Excellent coffee and lovely cake. Service with a smile from the two young members of staff. Tables all cleared quickly. No problems

I couldn't see any vegan/plant-based cakes or cookies so settled for an espresso. The member of staff was reasonably pleasant and polite and the padded bench seating at the rear of the cafe was a more comfortable option than the plastic chairs.

I have visited the cafe each month and have now given up trying to get a decent latte. The one today was so strong very dark and not very enjoyable. It was made clearly by someone being trained how to use the machine and I really couldn’t be bothered to complain. Leaving half the coffee in the cup would perhaps be a clue that it wasn’t an enjoyable cup. Come on Marks and Spencer’s. Surely a decent cup of good coffee is the least you can do…..

This cafe is often quite busy. There is a good selection of quality items. I had a toastie which was very tasty. It would have been good to have had a little salad with it. Coffee is very nice and the cakes look good.

My daughter and I visited the Lincoln branch today , we both had a toasted sandwich that was cooked one side and soggy the other. The filling was literally still cold which isn,t good enough when you're paying £5 for two rounds of bread. The chips were raw in the middle. However, the cappuccino and cake were nice but at a cost of more than £25 it was very disappointing

M & S could do a lot better than this. Cold, cheerless, uninviting cafe. Seems like an "afterthought" by someone unqualified in interior design. Plastic, uncomfortable chairs and tables. After spending a amall fortune int he shop i was more than a little annoyed to find such a "unwelcoming cafe" V. limited choice of food and drink and staff look fed up (no wonder working in such a depressing environment..

We enjoyed an Americano, a full flavoured espresso and a large, tasty vegan chocolate chip cookie from the Plant Kitchen range. Ended up having a couple of brief chats with Julie, one of the members of staff, who was amiable and friendly.

We were very impressed with the efficient click and collect service as well as the great service provided by the cafe staff. Two of us have mobility issues and we were made to feel very welcome!

My husband and I go every week for coffee and toasted teacake. Best teacake in Lincoln and great coffee. Staff very quiick and friendly and often help elderly customers with their trays.

Man selling big issue smoking which comes via windows. Staff look fed up and are rude about the very large manager

Went into Lincoln's marks and Spencers for dinner before our walk around the castle, what a disappointment the dinner was, they don't do gluten free toasted sandwiches so I had to settle for a jp tuna mayo or should I say slop on a over cooked JP the entire meal was discusting and a huge disappointment which is very typical of marks and Spencers they never cater for people with dietary requirements so don't go there to eat

first the bad, table was very dirty and messy. i asked for it to be cleaned it was.trays very worn need new ones.the good, we had two pots of tea, gold blend i was told.cheese scones, and devon ones very nice.staff polite and helpful.

It's so cold in there that I turned around and went elsewhere. Too cold to try on clothes and certainly too cold to sit and enjoy a coffee. Went to Waterstone's for a coffee where it's warmer and therefore more comfortable. I complained a few weeks ago but clearly nobody is listening:(

The quality of products is always very good however they never have enough staff and today is particularly poor. Surely they must know that this is the most popular part of the store, very frustrating

So I drop in every few weeks for scrambled egg on toast as its lovely. Well guess I will be staying at home it in future. It was so dry I struggled to eat it. Its a pity because the staff are always really pleasant and the coffee is great.

Lovely cakes and very good coffee and hot chocolate. Nice relaxing environment with plenty of seats. Good choice for a Saturday afternoon break.

The whole M&S shop was freezing cold not what you expect on a cold day outside. The drinks in the cafe weren’t hot either! ☹️

Although there were no vegan sweet or savoury options available we enjoyed our Americano and a double espresso, which was a generous measure, richly flavoured with a good crema and both coffees were served in simple but attractive crockery. The cafe was very busy and the staff were working hard but they were agreeable and polite.

This is the first M&S cafe I have had a hot meal in. Meat pie mash and veg with lots of hot gravy and tea . The plates where hot. Great start as the rest of the food arrived hot and stayed hot. I have taken these meat pies home from Marks but they were so good . Next time I'm out I shall seek out one of the growing number of M&S cafe and see if the standard is this good all over. Not badly priced and staff very attentive I really had a nice meal.

This cafe was not busy, tables were clean and cleared. The seating was well worn and split. Reasonable service.

Visité aquí a primera hora de la mañana para desayunar con un amigo. Pedimos dos desayunos ingleses completos con un té y un café.

Creo que solían tener comida cara pero de buena calidad. Pero ahora solo el precio se mantuvo. ¡Encontré ayer en Skegness pasta con Fungus en un estante para la venta! ! Muchas veces en diferentes tiendas (Lincoln, Skegness) compré naranjas. Fueron terribles Pagar 4 y tenerlo binned no es bueno! Pensé que era un lote malo o algo así, así que lo intenté algunas veces más en diferentes meses. Siempre lo mismo. ¿Por qué están engañando a los clientes? Están vendiendo jugo tropical como dice el gran editorial, pero está hecho de manzanas con algunos concentrados. No lo recomendaría.

Hemos visitado regularmente la cafetería, principalmente un domingo para un Toasty o un Scone con un Latte. Los bollos son un poco pequeños pero deliciosos y nos encantan los Toasties. Pero el lugar se siente como si no hubiera calefacción y todos se sientan allí con sus abrigos puestos. El asiento acolchado contra la pared superior ahora es muy viejo con la superficie desprendiéndose. Siempre he encontrado al personal amable y educado, pero el lugar es muy desorganizado. Hay dos cajas y áreas de servicio, pero solo una parece estar en uso y se forman colas grandes. Esta semana fuimos a The Little Lincoln Cafe en su lugar. La mitad del precio y una mejor experiencia con diferencia. M & S necesita comenzar a pensar más acerca de sus clientes en lugar de centrarse tanto en su huella de carbono. Calienta un poco y reacondiciona los asientos.

El servicio es encantador, la comida siempre es muy buena, pero el café está cerca de la puerta, que se abre constantemente y hace mucho frío, todos los cuerpos están sentados con sus abrigos puestos, y nuestro café pronto estaba frío. Decidimos probar en algún lugar nuevo para el almuerzo y estábamos en Marks and Spencer en ese momento, así que fuimos al café. El personal de las cajas fue muy servicial ya que fui y conseguí una mesa pero mi gran no recogió una bandeja así que el operador de la caja fuerte fue y le dieron uno, que fue muy útil y muy apreciado. La limpieza general de la cafetería era muy buena, ya que en la mayoría de los lugares las mesas son pegajosas pero no están aquí. El piso estaba limpio, sin comida ni ruido, las mesas a nuestro alrededor se limpiaron en pocos minutos. El único inconveniente sería que algunos de los cuchillos y tenedores tenían marcas de comida en ellos, pero aparte de eso, estaba realmente limpio. Ahora la comida era increíble probado mucho mejor de lo esperado, ya que no realmente comer carne mucho, pero el pastel de carne y cerveza era increíblemente sabroso. El pollo al curry era bueno, pero podría haber hecho con un poco más de salsa. El ambiente en la cafetería se relajó a pesar de que está ocupado.

A nice place to stop and take a breather. Nice atmosphere, good service, if on the expensive side. Worth a visit.

When shopping in M and S, I usually pop into the cafe for a coffee. Nice atmosphere although usually busy.

I decided to try marks & spencer's cafe for a change from the usual Costa or Nero. I thought that the cafe would reflect the usual standard that I experience in other department within the store. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. Not enough staff they were running around like headless chickens. I couldn't figure out how to access cake so just did without, we ended up in at a nasty little table squashed in the corner right next to the door that went into the kitchen. There didnt seem to be any leadership or management it was chaos. Never again sorry M & S you let us down.

Decided to go to M&S; for a quick.. Lol.. sandwich for lunch. The staff need a Big shake up.. They are disorganised, a lack manners and there seemed to be no leadership in place.

The cafe seemed chaotic due to the tables not being cleared and there was nowhere to sit when you get your tray full of food and drinks. Getting a pot of tea was a long wait because the assistants making the drinks were disorganised and...

This restaurant is always reliably good food. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is good value. Tasty and varied menu. Comes recommended!! Go early- it gets busy!!

Quick snack while shopping with kids, whilst the cafe is always busy and the food and drink is always good, it's the same on offer everytime. If you don't mind the same 4 choices of sandwiches and cakes, that have been there for the past 5 years then it's great, but for me M&S; need to up their game for their regular customers - bring out something new!!

Called in at lunchtime on a Wednesday - fish, chips & mushy peas for both of us, plus a chilled bottle of water each. Came to £19, which is a tad pricey. Disappointed with the meal - whilst the fish was lovely, the chips weren't cooked properly, and the portion of mushy peas was tiny. The place was very busy, but clean & tidy, and the staff were friendly.

I went last week to the cafe with my daughter. The staff are so friendly and kind. I always feel very welcome at the cafe. My daughter and I always visit when we're in town.

While out shopping we popped in for a coffee & teacake. It is quite a small cafe where the tables are very close together. It was very busy (thursday) sadly I didn't find the staff very helpful & a bit disinterested in what was happening around the cafe I. e ladies in wheelchairs or prams. To be honest we were glad to leave.

Excellent quick service with a fair choice of food and drink. Tables are cleared quickly and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We visit regularly and do not mind the the "cramped and busy" situation as a previous critique observed. One can judge the situation prior to being served.

I've tried it so many times, but so busy and expensive. It is cramped and just stresses me out.Older generations tend to sit for hours, so they must enjoy.

I went today because I was flagging after Christmas shopping. The food and coffee was lovely and the member of staff who served me at the till was helpful and accommodating.

My friend and I had been to the cinema and thought we would give M&S a try for a change from our usual place.We had a really nice scone with jam and clotted cream, nice pot of tea each (2 cups) and we will certainly go back,the staff were very sociable and helpful.

Called in to the M&S cafe, while staying in Lincoln.This is my first experience of eating in this particular store & I wasn't disappointed.There was a nice choice of quick snacks, toasted sandwiches and baked potatoes to name but two. I opted for the turkey pie and mashed potato dinner & it was delicious. The staff were really friendly, especially the young lady cleaning tables. Highly recommended.

A quick fleeting visit but as usual my son wanted feeding, and couldn't wait until we got home. We decided to visit the cafe as we were right outside, what a good decision. We had a chicken cesear salad, a toasted smoked salmon bagel and a green tea. The tea was a perfect blend (as I only drink nettle and green tea, I've had a few bad ones)The salad filled the gap with just the right amount of everything, the bagel was toasted to perfection and served with the right amount of salmon and creme fraiche. Whilst waiting for my son to finish I had a slice of bakewell tart. The pastry was nice and light as was the frangipane. All in all a good first visit.

Decided it was time to try the afternoon tea. The selection offered was excellent and it's more than comparable to any other "afternoon tea offer". Value for money is superb and everything is nice and fresh.

We had the selection of sandwiches which were delicious and a toasted sandwich which was equally enjoyed.The wait for the toasted sandwich was too long. We had finished our coffee's before it arrived.

First time here for lunch and it was very nice. Lovely soup and rolls plus toasted sandwiches and desserts.Excellent food and very good service. Recommended

Service price and standards are as usual very high. staff always greet and smile, the dining area is always being cleaned and always immaculate...Cake selection pretty good but my tastes go further, I always pop in when in the city a much as my other favorite place round the corner from Lloyds bank.. leave you guessing but there cakes are different..

We telephoned to book ahead as we were a large party of visitors with wheelchair users within the group. The staff were amazing and couldn't have done more to help. Food and service were excellent! I would wholeheartedly recommend this as place which offers great value and great service. We will definitely be back!

We recently visited the M&S Café for a coffee & snack. It's not the sort of place we would usually go but we were in the shop and just thought we'd give it a try. We won't bother again.I ordered a latte and a flat white: the coffee was prepared and delivered in the same way and the milk came from the same jug. So, the only difference between the latte and the flat white was that the flat white came in a smaller cup (and, I can't recall the exact price, but I seem to think the flat white was actually more expensive).We had a scone each. These were relatively small and my cheese scone was really quite chewy.As I waited to be served I found myself thinking that the serving staff possibly need to remember to smile a bit. After that I started thinking that this place was actually not very clean. There were lots of coffee dregs in the tray at the front of the coffee machine nearest where I was stood, the area where the staff was working wasn't clean - the floor really did look quite mucky with bits of stuff all over it. At one point the girl preparing the coffee was having to reach round quite a big plastic box with cups in - the whole work area seemed very badly planned.Had this been late afternoon, I could have understood why it was a bit the worse for wear but this was 10.00am.The tables are bog standard caff tables although an effort had been made to celebrate the Queen's birthday by putting some union jack themed covers and serviettes on a few of the tables.The one bright light in an otherwise dismal experience was the young lass clearing tables who smiled at everyone and said 'have a good day' as we left.At over £7.50 for two coffees and two small scones, I didn't feel we had value for money.

Usually have a light lunch here about once a month. Not impressed on this occasion (think it was 29th Mar 16). Dishwasher broken so we had to drink out of paper/plastic mugs, not good. Told we could have free refills, did not happen. Asked for additional hot water with our tea and did not notice we had been charged for 3 teas instead of 2. Ripped off again. Access and exit to the cafe is very poor, trying to get past the tills to the seating (same applies in the Manchester Arndale Center). M & S have got it wrong there, big problems with pushchairs and the now abundance of electric scooters that people try to get in the smallest of places. The tables had not been cleared or cleaned properly. New customers come and grab a table before staff have time to clear up. Why do so many restaurant and cafe staff sweep all the crumbs off tables onto the floor and worse onto the seats where we are going to sit? This happens regularly at M & S cafes. Will give them a miss for the next few months.

We stop for a late lunch in this café and find it still busy after the lunch rush. The café has all the commonly found items to order, but we are impressed with the way the staff find us a table. We enjoy coming to these cafés because there is a consistent standard and one knows what to expect.

Nice food but our enjoyment was completely spoiled by the lack of space. Being crammed in like cattle is unpleasant and unnecessary. There is a fine line between profit and greed. M&S have crossed this line and should treat their customers with more respect. I heard at least 3 complaints to the staff about this matter. All were laughed off. A foolish attitude. There are many other eateries in Lincoln.....

Situated on the first floor this cafe can be busy and therefore noisy at peak times so it's wise to choose your time to visit; late afternoons are quieter. Service with a smile and definitely attention to detail whilst constructing the coffees!!! Cappuccino particularly frothy and how it should be with quality chocolate sprinkles!! Coffee also has a mellow taste. An array of "homemade" cakes available and the whole experience doesn't break the bank.

We came here for a nice coffee. Cappucino is accompanied by a nice biscuit! Convenient, light comfortable place for coffee or snack.

We come here quite often and it is always clean and cheerful with friendly staff, the selection and quality of cakes is great and the choice of food generally is good too. The food is tasty and of good quality - we have never once had cause to complain. If you are coming here with young children the menu for them is good with plenty of healthy choices and the highchairs are in good supply and are always clean. We like that you can get fresh water for free served in glasses to help yourself with plenty of ice, fresh lemon slices and straws available, and do try the Chai Tea Latte - it is the best we have ever had! Our only disappointment with this cafe is that on busy days it gets full very very quickly and although there are signs up asking people not to sit down and "bag" tables before they pay for their food this is always completely ignored. So if you go in on your own this can be very tricky, not to mention embarrassing. On one day a horrid older lady refused to let me share her table with her even though I had a tray full of food and no where to sit! On another occasion my husband was forced to sit just outside of the cafe on the chair people try shoes on with!!! Also on these types of days they almost always seem to have run out of everything on the menu by about 1pm. If M&S could get these issues resolved it would be perfect, we have written to them, and although the £10 voucher was very nice months later nothing has been addressed seemingly.....

A nice afternoon tea on Friday followed by breakfast the next day. Very friendly and helpful staff in a small and busy location. The afternoon tea consisted of small sandwiches, cakes together with scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. At breakfast the next day we sampled their new range of bacon, tomatoes and scrambled egg on a slice of bread. The staff were on top form ensuring everyone was satisfied etc. it may well be that they could have had complaints recently. I'm happy to report that I have never had any problems or complaints about this location.

My husband and I went for afternoon tea at midday on Fathers day with our 2 children aged 3 years and 8 months. Included was 1 pack of sandwiches, 2 scones with jam and cream and 2 teas. You pick your choices and take them to the till who present them for afternoon tea. It was disappointing that you only get one sandwich as most afternoon teas you get a selection of fillings so we had to buy a second pack. I had to ask for it to be presented like advertised, she seemed a bit put out I had asked and so I explained it was a fathers day treat but she still she seemed like it was a massive effort. It was nice but nothing special, M&S could do better.

Drinks ok, choice of snacks ok, environment ok, staff sometimes friendly, always busy. Much as you would expect from a chain store cafe there are much better independent options close by!

food good, but the smell of the big issue seller on there own property lingers in the nose. So eating anything he is still on the nose as such

The cafe is great. Food is always tasty, coffe is brill and comes with a complimentary biscuit. Cakes are always fresh and yummy. Service is friendly and pricing is good.

Called in early before shopping. Very friendly service. Nice bright clean & funky. Coffee & tea delicious. Cumberland bap very good and egg and salmon on toast very tasty. Definitely call again.Toilets are also very clean.

1st time visit and we just had drinks. They were really lovely and tasty and such great value. The food that passed us by, looked amazing (we didn't eat) and looked so wholesome and very tasty!

A well redesigned cafe/restaurant that was advertising an all day tea for two cream tea. The assistant could not have been more helpful and brought everything to our table on a 3 tier serving tray. 4 sandwiches (prawn,chicken,ham & beef) 2 scones, 2 jars of strawberry jam, 2 pots of cream and tea or coffee. A very popular simple idea well presented and delivered. Thank you M&S Lincoln.

A friend took me to this café and told me to find a table whilst she ordered the food.She chose Afternoon Tea For Two.The sandwiches were lovely but the scones served with preserve and clotted cream were divineso light and fluffy.We had tea to drink and again this was of very good quality.All in all excellent & I would have this again!.
