Every time I go to a m and s cafe I vow never to return. Today we had the experience of being served 2 just warm lattes and a cold toasted tea cake.

What a performance!! Go to the counter for a cup of coffee. No, you must use the big McDonald's type screen to order it. I'd no idea how to do this, so a member of staff had to do it for me. I then tried to pay with cash... horrors, card only. I truly wouldn't have stayed but I'm elderly and disabled and desperately needed to sit down. I asked if this was supposed to save money but I was told no, it was to save people queuing - sadly not working as folk weren't waiting, they were just heading to a screen, oblivious to others who WERE waiting - can't do that at a counter I truly hope this won't be rolled out, as myself and others I spoke to will be finding elsewhere in Newcastle for a sit down andxa catch up

Marks and Spencer cafes do not know how to make a hot latte, they are always lukewarm and unpalatable. Hate the ordering system in Newcastle.

On entering the new ‘cafe’ was extremely disappointed to be entering what looked like a McDonalds!! The on screen ordering - a big NO for us, we turned and walked out! Going to John Lewis instead for lunch.

Very imperson. Now use a touch screen to order. Me and daughter tried to order 2 teas and 1 can of sparkling juice. I use computers all day at work and found it difficult. Got to the end and couldn't pay due to lack f connection. Tried another screen and were successful. No facility for cash. No offer of help. 2 senior citizens looked bewildered but we were to busy to help. 4 staff standing around, occasionally taking orders out (mainly 1 girl). 1 woman on phone. 1 young lad carried 2 sachets of sauce while following the young girl carrying a full tray. 1 tea pot well worn around rim but tea tasty. Overall not the standard I expect from M&S and definitely not an improvement to the service.

Had to ask for tea pot and milk jug to be changed as both chipped. Is this what we've come to...no saucers!

Was quite surprised when I walked in and saw that all the ordering is now done on a touch screen. It felt very impersonal, however it was very efficient.

Seems to be run by young people they do a great job trying to cope with queues, I gentleman with long long hair not tied up hanging all over his face seems to be in charge ? food mediocre and expensive nota good place if you want stress free cuppa

When in town we called in for a HOT drink. Very disappointing to find the oat milk latte was barely warm & the tea was barely palatable. Pretty poor set up in Newcastle really.

nice to be in place like this i hope they continue with it, good atmosphere and light hearted view..

My daughter and I went to have our usual poached egg on toast and our coffee at Cribbs Causeway Bristol ...we share it as 2 pieces of toast and 2 eggs and as a treat we shared some cake aswell so spent £15 .... Week before done the same at Longwell Green branch and had 2 pieces of toast 2 eggs and was lovely as always...HOWEVER today we had 2 eggs plonked on a plate in between 1 yes 1 piece of toast cut in half !! When I queried this the young girl said yes that's correct one piece of toast that's what it says in the book ??? Do you want to see it??? I declined but did explain we had 2 pieces of toast at their other branch she said well they obviously done it wrong...absolutly not I think they done it correctly £5 for 1 piece of sourdough toast and 2 eggs absolutely extortionate...won't be bothering anymore look out Costa here we come !

Ok so went in to shop for some shirts and Jeans. Pretty poor selection. Wife then suggests cafe for a coffee. Absolute shambles only one lane open, waited in que 20 mins. Asked for Manager, was informed he was not in, wonder why? Overall will not be back in this shop it is dire.

Ended up in a massive queue. Bought expensive hot drinks only to find no sweetener. When asked if they had any just told no and not offered a refund What kind of cafe has no sweetener when people are trying to cut out sugar. Didn't enjoy my hot beverage

Actually This was In Northumberland st city centre M&S. As we walked in on first floor there was a board promoting squashed avocado & poached eggs on sourdough toast, Mm! We thought delicious let’s have breakfast. So we did, I Ordered and added with crispy bacon as extra. Found a table, food then Arrived it was wrong, no avocado, but loads of greenery & cold baby tomato’s.. I didn’t want it, I wanted what I ordered & bacon wasn’t crispy, so said no bacon. My husband ate his, toast cold no butter & he asked for plate to remove salad. Didn’t enjoy it. My new breakfast arrived, he’d finished his! I got Cold toast no butter, eggs not fully cooked avocado cold not mashed in lumps covered in to many chilli flakes with loads of salad leaves & cold tomato’s. Awful! £20 of crap

Staff sparse, fridge sparse, tables dirty and coffee awful …. and not a teaspoon in the place to be seen. Come on M & S, stop relying on your reputation !!

After buying some party food to which I was very disappointed the worst had to be the fake mini Beef Wellingtons. They were nothing more than a beef and mushroom lattice and tasted awful The first photo is m and s and the second photo is another shop brand at half the price no comparison

One of your stage told my mate to leave his table as I was doing tack and gave,he is not well and was very upset,he was a young lad your stage,I will not go again to your caffe

Often pop in here for coffee whilst shopping, however, I think today may be our last. It is so short staffed. Tables were all full of dirty crockery, and it takes an absolute age to get served. The staff work so hard I really felt for them.

Was here last week whilst sale shopping I stopped for a break I had baked potato with tuna which was lovely and plenty filling in it and a latte the staff are lovely and friendly I was served very quickly would definitely recommend

I found the new cafe very dark and dismal. Toilets on the floor below.....How inconvenient. Sandwich selection seemed much reduced. Some hot sandwiches not on view so ingredients cannot be viewed. Good display of available food and drink. Space seemed very tight. I did not feel that I wanted to return.

Called in for a pit stop needing a much earned drink still have to ask for your biscuit to go with your drink

Was here today whilst Christmas shopping stopped off for a break I had a bacon sandwich and skinny latte which was lovely and tasty staff are brilliant and very helpful and friendly will be back can’t be beaten onn quality

Lovely cafe with good selection of food and snacks, plenty of choice of drinks as well . Staff always on hand to help .

I regularly visit this M&S; for the food shop and clothes but rarely visit the cafe here. Came for a quick lunch instead of the others around the same area and to be honest, I regret coming here. The cafe was fairly busy but spotted an empty table although it still had cups from previous customers. I ended up taking these to the hatch myself and cleaning the table with a baby wipe. This cafe has a very limited vegetarian menu so one of us opted for a tomato soup which was ok. The other two had the turkey toastie with chips. The toastie was tasty but toasted on one side only. The chips were greasy and undercooked and as they were the chunky variety, they were very unpalatable. The floors around the tables were very dirty with a lot of food spilled which had not been swept. The staff who were serving the food and clearing the tables, didn't appear to be happy or go out of their way to keep tables and floors clean. There is a self service cutlery area which contained dirty cutlery mixed with clean. Not sure if this was baked on and their dishwasher hadn't gotten it off but find it unacceptable that this was not checked as it wasn't just one piece but several. The containers holding the cutlery were also dirty. I certainly wouldn't recommend this cafe to anyone and will not return but stick to either Starbucks or Costa over the road.

The fishfinger sandwiches were ok but would have preferred a side salad instead of the huge portion of coleslaw.. also no salt r pepper offered. Service good and cafe was spotless

Great place to meet for coffee/lunch etc.Great friendly staff offering good customer service ,with good food and drinks.

We visited the cafe on the ground floor. Lunch was fine, the service good and the tables cleared efficiently. However when I asked directions to the toilet facilities, I was informed that they were just around from the childrens wear. They were in fact the disabled and baby changing facilities. The much larger services were on the 1st floor, walking through clothing and shoes. These facilities should be signposted from the ground floor cafe. There were people queuing for the disabled toilets who quite plainly said they could not be bothered going upstairs because it was such a trawl through the store so ended up blocking the use of the disabled facilities. Better signal posting needed to avoid confusion

Good tea and coffee - and (unusually for cafes) a choice of milk; whole, semi or skimmed. (but no cream). A nice restful break from shopping.

Friendly, super clean, excellent food no complaints and always a safe bet. Good choice of sweet and savoury items and helpful staff

Tried a toasted sandwich and pot of tea. Have to say was disappointed, bottom did not appear to be toasted to same extent as top, and whilst it didn't quite have a "soggy bottom" it definitely lacked something. First time in here to meet friends, but not somewhere I will be happy to go back to. Other half was not too impressed with her latte.

This small cafe was full to capacity everywhere was clean the staff were friendly and very busy prices were more expensive than other cafe's food was hot and served fairly quickly overall I go again.

Was in the deli bar , was lovely felt looked after and really enjoyed my food seeing a member of staff helping a blind man with out question restored hope in humanity

M&S; Kingston park Newcastle lovely staff very helpful food and coffee very nice but recently M&S; have decided to remove the comfy seats and the colouring sheet and pencils for the children #feelingdisapointed

We just popped in for a much welcome and delicious cuppa whilst Christmas shopping. The tea was perfect and the tea cakes were not only delicious but were toasted perfectly. The cafe was buddy but the staff were attentive making sure that customers were happy.

Met with a friend for a coffee and a snack just before Christmas, there were plenty of tables but those that were vacant were still covered in empty dishes from the previous occupants, cleared ours and placed them on the adjacent table, we were there an hour and they were only cleared as we were leaving, when approaching the counter for service, looked like I was going to be over charged until the member of staff serving realised there was a deal on the items I was purchasing (not obvious enough with A4 sign on the counter) the mince pie and brandy sauce was not worth the money I paid even on the offer, dry and crumbly (pie) you used to know what you were getting from M&S;, those days are long gone, now its intermittent depending on the day, the time and the selected store.
