Marks & Spencer Cafe in East Riding of Yorkshire

I visited the cafe yesterday and found that the staff were very helpful and friendly. I had a sandwich which was delicious and a large latte coffe which was so good, I had another! I really enjoyed my visit to the cafe and will visit every time I go to Beverley, the helpful staff and the fact that the cafe was clean and tables were cleared straight away, made it very enjoyable.

Much needed coffee break after long day at work. It was late in the day and the staff were as friendly and polite as if they had just started the day. Freshly made for us, we sat and enjoyed our drinks in the peace and quiet. Nice cafe, lovely coffee and great location.

Love Beverley M & S cafe. Lovely gluten free cream tea - 100% safe as all wrapped & staff very knowledgable about cross contamination. Friendly service from helpful staff. We go every week 5 star!

There were four members of staff behind the counter but I had to wait for them to finish gossiping about another customer before they even acknowledged I was there.

The two women serving continued to chat with each other, occasionally looking up to serve customers. I ordered a cappuccino and an americano and was eventually handed the former. When another customer was served I asked where my Americana was, after an apology it was brought to my table. I sat there drinking and these women continued to chatter away and discuss other customers in a disparagingly way. Very unprofessional and very rude. Won’t go back.

When visiting Beverley my wife & I often go to this cafe for a coffee & a bite to eat. Always a friendly welcome, always clean & good service. The Columbian coffee is the best coffee even though it is 25p a cup dearer. We often have toasted teacakes which are excellent as they are really fruity. A good cafe to visit which has a good selection of snacks & drinks.

No teas available due to boiler malfunction. Staff not trained in use of kettles. Had to have coffee.

Timed it right. Not many people about and went in for coffee. Staff were very helpful and showed us what to do. We ended up having scones with jam and cream which were delicious.

Busy shopping day so stopped for scone and coffee. Cheese scone was lovely as was the coffee. Always busy . Managed to get a seat after a while.

Good little M & S shop but tiny coffee shop.The few tables that were available were not clean .Staff seemed disinterested both in the cafe and in the shop.

A work colleague popped out for coffee for our mid morning fix. Fast service and great coffee and mocha for the price. Will be using the take out service again.

The staff in the M&S cafe have a really bad attitude. I am not sure what their problem is but it’s almost like customers are an inconvenience. The women on the till has no manners. Maybe give her a job that doesn’t involve customers. Always a crazy wait to make a coffee too. Please also stop hiding the free biscuit!!

The Marks café in Beverley is conveniently located with parking close by. I like it because it is always reliable in terms of quality and good value food and drink. Look at the good choice of cakes for instance. Note also that free WIFI is available. My favourite deal is the Cream Tea. You get a lovely scone (plain or fruit) with clotted cream and strawberry jam plus a drink such as the excellent pot of tea or a good-sized cup of tasty coffee with hot milk for £4. Smashing value! If you want to try something a bit different, smoothies and frappes are available at £3 or iced coffee at £2.75. There is plenty of reasonably comfortable if rather utilitarian seating but it does get busy. Service is quick, friendly and efficient.

Brilliant place to pop in for a snack or a good coffee and it’s always clean and such friendly staff and not too expensive

Been a customer for years because the choices, value, size, and service for their coffees, food is second to none. The venue is very very popular with a friendly comfortable atmosphere that enhances the experience. The staff are spot on with service and friendly manner. Thank you.

Stopped off after a few hours shopping in town,cafe is just on the right inside.lovely coffees & great cakes ,lots of other things to eat was nice & clean.gets very busy at lunchtime.nice food shopping here also

This is a decent coffee shop within M&S; where you can sit while the other half wanders around the store looking to make a purchase. The coffee is fine, nothing outrageously good or bad

this is an ok cafe, better than some, not as good as others it ok for snacks /cakes/ tea/ coffeee etc

It took almost 10 mins to get 2 coffees with only one lady in front of me ordering one coffee. 5 girls behind the counter with just one making drinks very slowly. Plus they were more interested in talking another member of staff who was half way around the serving side of counter telling all her life story and getting her food and drink just the way she wants. The cafe was not over full and could have benifitted from a clean up.

After a nightmare morning with my car, I ended up in Beverley with a couple of hours to kill before collecting it from the garage. After walking up and down the pedestrian area, I opted for lunch here. Toasted chicken and bacon sandwich, with a medium latte. Reasonably priced and good size portion, I enjoyed my impromptu lunch out. Service was quick and the staff all had pleasant manners and a friendly smile. Will be back again

While visiting we popped in for a coffee and a snack and such a lovely staff team couldn’t do enough and the fresh sandwiches were really fresh and the cakes were to die for,not forgetting the really nice coffee

Toilets are absolutely filthy, all of them, urine on the floor, soiled toilet paper and a foul smell... disgusting. Visited whilst doing some shopping and what a disgrace the cafe toilets were.... visited a lovely shop called Lidl the other day... toilet facilities were spotless.... SORT IT OUT or you too will be going down the toilet why would anyone pay high prices for the same quality as places such as Lidl and Aldi.... which are actually clean!

Popped in for a quick coffee in from the rain. Lovely staff...and the clothes section was a little bit of everything!

This is not a place for a relaxing coffee & chat . It is basic in appearance & furniture & appears quite ordinary & almost spartan ( some might say it is minimalist)

The food in the cafe or from Marks and Spencer foothill is always top class, great flavoured coffee and teas and pastries etc are always super fresh.

Well subscribed with a welcoming ambience. Clean and reasonably comfortable albeit basic with quick and efficient service. Lots of nice cakes to choose from and the scones with cream and jam are reliable and very good. The tea was also hot, fairly strong and you get a good cuppa! Always worth a stop to rest weary legs after a shop.

Sometimes go for cappuccino, sandwiches and cake. Have a good choice of cakes and staff are friendly.

Just inside the door the Cafe is a wonderful addition to Marks & Spencer’s, Beverly. Serving hot and cold food, cakes and pastries and of course the Toasted Teacakes with Butter. This is a self service Cafe. The staff are excellent, smart and attentive. Altogether a lovely place to enjoy a light bite such as a sandwich and cake. Give them a try it’s lovely. NigelG

We called in here for a quick coffee as we were close and in a hurry. I was pleased we did, the coffee was really very good and Fair Trade. I really like supporting Fair Trade so I will be back. The cakes looked good so I will try them next time.

Beverley M&S; cafe is handy and one knows what one is getting as the food is consistent. It is busy on a lunchtime and I have got to the counter and then left as I realised once I got my food I would not get a table. Too often there are tables left with dirty dishes on and it is not pleasant and does put customers off who like me leave and go somewhere else. Some of the staff are very good and hard working and never stop, whilst others saunter around and walk by tables full of plates rather than clear them quickly for waiting customers. The service is not brilliant and no more than very average.

Finished off the shopping with a latte and carrot cake for a change. Its very handy next to Wednesday Market and good for a quick snack.

Were shopping in M&S; and decided to have lunch as the menu looked appealing. Three of us opted for the chestnut and mushroom soup with 2 bread rolls and one went for the baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn. We all agreed it was delicious and great value. The tables were cleared quickly and the café was clean overall. Will definitely return,

This place sells the best coffee in Beverley. Their flat white is unbeatable and I would have given it a 5 if it wasn't always full of old people.

Appreciate that on a Saturday afternoon that the cafe would be busy. I do not think it excuses the state of tables and surrounding areas Dirty pots everywhere. Staff friendly so no problem there

This delightful cafe meets all the expectations and standards of other Marks and Spencer cafes. Always busy which is always to be expected but the staff are quick, friendly and efficient.

Had a good coffee here with my family before a walk around the town centre. Well worth going to if you love a coffee

We popped into M&S; for a quick coffee and one of us went in the store for a lunch selection. It is real convenient that you can purchase the ready to eat selections in the store, and can eat them in the cafe.

We visit frequently when shopping in the store because it is so very convenient but often quite busy. It is hardly salubrious and is best described as functional as the accompanying photo shows. The plastic chairs and tables are typically utilitarian and canteen-like. The café could do with a renovation or upgrade but I appreciate that space and potential is limited. Please don’t expect ambience or atmosphere but it is a chatty place and very welcome for weary shoppers.

Although extremely busy at times the cafe is very good - excellent place for catching up with friends and a good stopping off-point for when you have finished shopping.

Visited for a quick coffee. Ordered a couple of flat whites. They came as thin americano style with a thin layer of foam. Not what I'm used to as a flat white, but could be a local variation. What was most suprising was the hands on hips, confruntational, aggressive response from the lady serving when I questioned the authenticity of the coffee. I contemplated sending them back, but bought them partially with a shareholder voucher, so was too complicated. Since seen other comments on here about the quality of the coffee, perhaps a refresher barista course and some pointers on customers service are in order.

How convenient done your shopping and a quick coffee which is nice to sit down and gather your thoughts or meet a friend , you can also have a nice snack to put you on which are always very tastie.

Been to the cafe quite a lot in the past noticed a vast improvement in the quality of food and especially the coffee, friendly cheerful staff on hand nothing too much trouble especially when I ask questions regarding what's on offer for coeliac s now doing a mushroom soup with gf bread roll. Looking forward to my next visit, keep up the good work girls and a merry Christmas

I usually pop in for a coffee most days but as of late the coffee has not been up to its usual standard. I have a flat white which now costs £2.50 for a small cup. This should be strong but invariably it comes out looking like its name "flat", no froth, not very hot and looks just like a cup of milk. I think some of the staff could do with a refresher course on how to make good coffee. When I go to other branches, such as Anlaby or Kingswood, it's a good cup every time. Please get your act together Beverley. It's too expensive not to enjoy.

We both enjoy coffee that tastes of coffee, difficult to find in England. Always busy and good value for money although looking at the scones and cakes etc. Maybe not

Good coffee and tasty toasties, but the new expansion makes the cafe look like a canteen and has lost its cafe vibe

I'm a big fan of all things M&S; which is why I am always so shocked by the poor customer service in the cafe. The woman who served me today, and on previous occasions (older with dark hair), is just so unbelievably rude. I honestly don't know why she works in a customer service environment, she is rude, doesn't seem like she wants to be there and seems to be devoid of all social skills. It's a real shame because I like the cafe but the staff leave a lot to be desired.

Usually stop here for coffee if we are in town. Pleasant and friendly staff who are always happy to help. Food is a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Well worth a visit.

M and S cafes usually give excellent service: we regularly eat at them. Beverley today was a shocker. Staff clearly not interested, and the lady at the till extremely rude. Miniscule jacket potatoes with poor fillings, only two on today as the rude till lady grumbled, moaning that she would have to look, in a manner which implied I was asking too much. Don't go here unless you enjoy being humiliated.

Great coffee, it's a shame about half the staff which work behind the counter, rude and all they talk about is what time there break is !

We have been M&S; customers for as long as I can remember and over the past few years have watched with some sadness its steady decline in popularity. An instance of M&S; customer-care was clearly demonstrated during our visit to the M&S; Café in Beverley yesterday where we waited to be served by this sullen faced blonde sporting the store's new 'Taste the Spirit of Summer' t-shirt. The lady before us in the queue had ordered a coffee which cam back with 'sprinkles'? When she pointed out she hadn't asked for 'sprinkles' this customer-unfriendly assistant rebuked her (albeit mildly) that, 'if she HADN'T wanted sprinkles, 'she should have told her first!' Sorry that's not the case! It is the duty of care for anyone serving to ensure the customer is given the choice beforehand and not afterwards - and with some good grace to boot!!! Anyway, the lady accepted the criticism and left the counter clearly shocked. Our service was of little improvement as this blonde-bomber continued moaning to her friend whilst attending to our order with little grace - even getting that wrong?

Like to visit M&S; cafe when in town. Coffee is always tasty and hot and the pastries are up to M&S; high standards. There are more tables in the newly refurbished cafe so not as confined as it was before. Would always recommend a visit here. O

I like it here as they do decaffeinated, (both tea and coffee) and skimmed milk... not an option in most smaller cafes.

Very handy for a quick bite whilst shopping. The cream teas on a Saturday afternoon are fantastic value. Lovely just to chill out and watch the world go by in the window seats.

We were visiting Beverley and I had an offer of afternoon tea on my sparks card.Best choice we made, nice sandwiches, scone each with cream and 2 jars of jam and some small fancy cakes.Not forgetting the drinks, and served up by friendly staff.

My dad loves the coffee and lemon cake. I've tried it and agree 100%. Staff friendly and always give friendly service.

Their pie and mash is delish, The jug of tasty gravy on the side makes it just that bit special as I, personally, can't eat mash without loads of the stuff.

There are plenty of cafes to be visited in Beverley - we were in M&S; and the wife suggested the we try the café there - have to say that it was an excellent choice - lovely cake and excellent tea/coffee and the prices were reasonable (well to my mind they were!) and considering that the café was full plenty of other folk feel the same!
