Took advantage of local hopper bus, been wanting to try percy arms for ages, wasn't disappointed! The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, the food was delicious, had a main and a dessert, couldn't fault It at all, as for the the percy arms itself, was a lovely little pub, dining are faultless. Definitely recommend a visit.

We visited The Percy Arms for a late Sunday lunch with family for my son’s 21st. There was a warm atmosphere, service was very good with a varied menu including a separate vegetarian menu. Everyone really enjoyed their food and it was plentiful and hot. There were a few items unavailable on the menu but that could have been due to the time of day we visited. Plenty of parking too and nice outside area. Certainly would return and recommend.

Booked a table 24hrs before, for 2, last night 12th October. Arrived 10 mins early, seated straight away, order taken shortly after. All good, table near the window. The pub was very busy. Ordered a bottle of wine and waited and waited. Fifty five minutes later I enquired about our food. Was told, they would check on it, said another 5mins or so. Ten mins later I asked again, was told, they had 2 big tables in and our order had slipped between them, and we still had to wait. Not sure what this meant, probably they had forgotten about us? Over an hour had passed now and no food delivered but we had noticed others who were seated after us, eating their food. At this point, I said, the wait was unacceptable and we were leaving. We reluctantly paid for the wine and left, not really wanting to return again. We received a sorry, which didn't feel genuine!!!!! Our order was a Salmon salad and a pie of the day and chips. The wine was reasonably priced and was nice but we went for food also.

We had to ask for menus the ask again if we could order. Food was very good except for a piece of plastic packaging in my son’s dinner. There were 6 in our party and we all ordered starters which never arrived as the ordering system had not printed them for the chef! Apologies were left to the very young girl serving us. Service was very slow, we had booked for 6.30pm but did not finish until 9 pm.

What a shame about this pub. Its in a lovely location but the experience we have just had means we won't be eating here again. Literally didn't even get our bums on the seats when the waitress was asking us what we wanted to drink. Gosh let us get seated and settled first! We ordered the drinks and they had forgotten to pour them. When I reminded them they then delivered one incorrect drink. Sat quite a while waiting for the food. Whilst we were waiting the entertainment was one of the waitresses having some sort of argument with the kitchen staff which then equated to the kitchen staff banging kitchen equipment around and making a loud noise! When the food was eventually delivered it was brought to the table with the lad saying "liver"! No niceness or customer service. To be fair the food was tasty and the quantity was good. Just need the staff to get some customer service training and remember people expect a welcoming environment. Unfortunately better places to go in the vicinity so will be choosing them next time.

Went for Sunday lunch today with my wife and family. The starters were poor and the poached eggs were burst and the eggs were tiny, aswel as the black pudding. 4 of us had Sunday dinner and I had the fish special, we had one portion of veg between 5 of us, that amounted to 1 piecece of broccoli and rock hard cauliflower each. Most potatoes were rock hard and dry inside. The sauce for the fish was like milk and not a proper whit wine fish sauce. When we said the cauliflower was hard it was like service for us stopped. Not a great dinner all round.

We went to the Percy Arms after it was recommended. Granted we had not booked, but then neither was the restaurant full, with several free tables. We were told by the waitress she would come back to take our drinks order, but was only provided a wine list and had to ask about range of beers. They do say on their website 'fine ales' so no sight of cask ale but just a cold John Smiths Bitter. We ordered our food, after asking twice for a menu. 1 dish was Chilli Con Carne, which was dry very little sight of a sauce and lack of chilli especially considering the meals description. The few accompanying chips had clearly been kept warm under a heat light as they had gone dry and brittle. Tried to get vinegar for said chips. That went forgotten by a male waiter who seemed to be putting his attention on a table of three females. My partner ordered Liver, Bacon and onion with mash and vegetables which was very enjoyable. Despite the lengthy wait, this seemed to be the general trend, we heard an elderly couple complaining about their wait for their dessert and then to get their bill. A large family came in the same time as us, but still had not received their food when we finally gave up and went to pay our bill at the bar. We found the lack of attention and interaction with diners is seriously lacking. Training is very much needed here, or you will alienate the people who choose to visit you. Remember other restaurants are available. We would need to be convinced of change before we return.

We choose to stop at The percy arms for lunch after we noticed their July offer of 2 meals for £20 advertised on their online site. We downloaded their menu the evening before and had made our choices in anticipation. Imagine my surprise when we were told it is only on, on certain evenings. No mention anywhere that their July offer was for limited days at limited times. They could therefore change this statement at anytime when someone arrives. I feel it is misleading. Cannot comment on food or service as we walked away.

Had lunch here for the first time today, booked after checking the pub was dog friendly. When we arrived we were told 'we've set-up a table over here for you in the bar', I didn't feel this was a 'dog friendly' approach? We don't have an infecticous disease just a small very well behaved Shiz Tzu so unsure why we needed to secregated in such a manner? Ordered the lite lunch starters and main, took nearly 30 mins for the starters to arrive and it was very quiet for a lunchtime? Food was nice, nothing special but I have to say the 'lite' certainly applies to portion size so not great value in my opinion. We were then asked if we would like to see the dessert menu which was delivered but then nothing? Two staff were stood around drinking and laughing behind the bar but made no attempt to come over and take our order at any point? Waited and waited but gave up ordering anything else, paid at the bar and left. No one asked or seemed at all concerned about our experience? Overall not a great experience and should be seen as 'dogs allowed' rather than what we would consider to be 'dog friendly' unlikely to visit again based on our experience which is a shame.

A pub in a lovely location, decent food for the price. One big gripe: since it’s been taken over there is no cask ale. I’m sure this will fall on deaf ears, but a Yorkshire pub with not even one offering of a Yorkshire pint? 🤦🏻♂️ Would love to have that choice, considering it’s an English traditional drink. I understand it’s easier to go keg for price point and duration kept, but would be a great addition to a local destination. We would go more often for a start. If you couldn’t give a monkeys about cask, and are only interested in food led pubs with the usual suspects to drink then it’s well worth a visit. 👍

Visited The Percy Arms on Sunday with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. When making the booking by telephone I requested one of the two nice window tables and was given a time to come but on arrival we were shown to a not very nice table tucked into a corner with a blank wall view. I mentioned to the manageress that I had specifically requested one of the two nice window tables and she was quite dismissive and gave the impression she couldn’t care less. We ordered two Sunday roast lunches and the wait was a lengthy 45 minutes which for a “not very busy” pub restaurant was excessive. The mashed and roast potatoes and gravy boat were the highlights of the meal but one of the Yorkshire puddings was burnt and overcooked. The small portion of meats seemed to be pre-cooked machine sliced and reheated rather than the freshly carved Sunday roast joints we were expecting. The beef was too tough to eat but our dog enjoyed it when we got home. The dish of veg was undercooked and inedible and we were waiting for a member of staff to ask if our meals were OK but nobody came to the table to enquire. When eventually the manageress came to remove the plates, she asked “was everything OK” when it was so obvious everything was not OK given the full plate of uneaten vegetables. I told her the veg was undercooked and raw and totally inedible. Her reply was “no one else has complained” which was arrogant and rude and to add insult to injury still charged the full amount for the meals. Will we be going again? Not a chance!

Was so looking forward to visiting and it was quite a few miles from our home. We booked a table but when we arrived we were told to just find a table and sit where we like. We opted for a selection of small plate lunches and full price pie dinners. The pies were good but nothing outstanding according to our chief pie taster. The pies came with veg and chips. However, the small plates were indeed very small and were £9 for the one course which was more like a small child's portion. I usually go for the light options as I don't have a huge appetite but I've never had such a small portion. 5 small pieces of scampi and a few chips with a tablespoon of peas and a few lettuce leaves. It tasted as it should but a few more chips and salad would have been a cheap addition and at least make you feel you were getting some value for your money. Service was ok although could have been slicker. No condiments offered until we asked and not all meals came together. We had planned to go for the desert too but decided not to bother as we were still hungry and didn't want to be confronted with another measly portion. We headed to the garden centre for a lovely slice of delicious cake at a very reasonable price.

I would give the Percy Arms 10/10… on the disappointment scale. It was a birthday treat for me and it was a mess from start to finish. The building empty apart from one more table. We weren’t shown to our table the young man with his man constantly in his pockets said it was round the corner. We ordered drinks and my glass was dirty… The first of two waitresses came cane give menu, we all choose form the light bites… Three of the four garlic mushrooms came out and I had to ask for mine, she said “oh, I’ll get them to cook you some!” The plates were cold, and had some balsamic on them that that became the main flavour…. Watering, no garlic and few mushrooms… just awful Mains were no better, again cold plates. Tiny portions, and no care about how it looked, mine came with salad… but it was a flurry of garnish… nothing more. Three out of four had pudding because it the tiny portions, which were the best part of the meal… While it was cheap, £100 for four, it felt cheap and nasty too. Poor ingredients, poor service, poor everything. When will restaurants learn to have good waiting staff and not kids… the service can make or break your experience. Definitely never again!

We w tried the £14 light bite menu and I was surprised that that meant it was so meagre. I had the Brie bites- 2 overcooked empty breadcrumb bites. Then the “beef stew”. This comprised of 3 pieces of meat, two new potatoes and two pieces of turnip. This had a smear of mash and a ramekin of lfrozen peas. Sadly I left the pub hungry and determined to challenge the notion of lite bites - it should still mean a reasonable meal. It cost £14 so it should make you feel satisfied

Have visited this pub a number of times in the past and it's been OK but sadly our visit last week was our last as its definitely gone downhill. Prices are expensive which is acceptable if the food and service that you are receiving is exceptional but this certainly wasn't the case. We had booked a table outside, someone came and took our drinks order and it took ages - we chased it up with another member of staff, after another long wait the drinks arrived but had obviously been stood on the bar a long time as there was no head on the beer. We ordered food which was brought with no cutlery ?? - we asked for cutlery and condiments but after 5 mins these still hadnt arrived. We again had to ask another member of staff to bring cutlery - by the time they came our meals were luke warm. Not good enough Percy Arms management - your staff need to be trained in the basics of supplying cutlery with food and delivering drinks to tables. We will not be visiting again

The waitress advised she needed the table back straight after serving our main meals. The service felt extremely rushed. There was no mention of a maximum amount of hours when booking the table, or before we had ordered the starters and main courses. There was no offer of alternative seating to finish our drinks and given I was dining with two people with a disability this proved to be a really awkward part of the evening. Luckily we are positive people & the rain had stopped so we patiently waited for the taxi outside the "pub" / "restaurant". To avoid disappointment, if you visit on a Saturday night, check how long you can have the table for beforehand.

Have not been to this pub for many years, certainly since it was last refreshed. Pleasantly surprised. We received a warm welcome as we walked in and offered a table in various different areas of the pub, we opted for the conservatory, pleasantly warm. We wanted a quick lunch so ordered off the light bites menu, both myself and wife opting for the fish and chips. WOW! The fish was nice and chunky, great flavour and nicely cooked. The batter was crispy/crunchy, and stayed that way as we ate, none of this dripping in oil nonsense you get elsewhere. Chips had a nice fluffy middle and crispy outside. And all the food was steaming hot, faultless. The only drawback for me would be the lack of hand pulled beer, not an issue at lunchtime but would take the edge out of an evening meal. The outside patio area looks very pleasant, I can see myself popping back for a cold lager out there if we get a hot summer.

Absolutely the worst customer service EVER Charged the same price for a pre ordered Turkey sandwich as a full Turkey dinner. When we tried to address this the manner and attitude of the member of staff was disgustingly rude with not an ounce of interest...

Excellent service; first class person and machine; prompt, efficient and skill full. No supervision necessary and took extra care to consult when finished.

Came out to try the Sunday Roast that have recently returned to the menu. I was not disappointed!! Everything was lovely including the gravy, which I find can be a bit like water in some places, not here it was all delicious and cleared my plate apart from the red cabbage which I'm not a fan of anyway.

Been coming here since I was 18, has changed over the years, some times bad sometimes good. But it has always kept a level head over the years, and has always been for me a go to place.

A Moderately busy Sunday, and while not the fastest service the welcome was warm and friendly. No complaints with the food and drink. Plus generous portion sizes.
