Came out to try the Sunday Roast that have recently returned to the menu. I was not disappointed!! Everything was lovely including the gravy, which I find can be a bit like water in some places, not here it was all delicious and cleared my plate apart from the red cabbage which I'm not a fan of anyway.

Very disappointing to attend here around 10:30pm on a Saturday night. The pub had around 10 people and 4 teenage members of staff wearing tracksuits on duty. 3 of the members of staff were staring at their phones with their back to the 3 of us waiting to be served whilst we all looked at each other bewildered. The other was playing on the slot machine. No sign of any form of management on site. I did make a comment on why it took so long to be served despite the pub being nearly empty and the reply was "like it or get out" in a threatening tone. Owners - Seriously you need to get these members of staff sorted or the pub will become more and more emptier.

Visited this pub for the first time last Saturday. Everything good, apart from the bar staff. The dark haired woman with a bun in her hair, could hardly give you the time of day. She couldn't wait to finish serving us, very abrupt, no smile, just rude. The blond woman wasn't much better, when we returned to buy coffees. A smile at least goes a long way! However the food and coffee was lovely.

Arrived at the Duke today to be greeted by a rude stand in manager who broke the news that they had double booked the party room for my 6 year old birthday party and there was nothing they could do with a shrug of the shoulders. Obviously very upset with six year old in toe was told to take the child away. Assuming so she didn't look mean telling a child her party is cancelled. Fortunately for us an amazing gentleman called Craig who i assume also manager ( if not definitely should be and deserves a raise!!!) offered us a last minute solution of having the whole back area to ourselves (which may I add the original woman tried to stop saying we couldn't do that) and assisted in decorating and offered a hand in anything he could do absolutely first class amazing man!!! Over all made the best out of a bad situation which is why such a high starred review!! There was also another lady who assisted but didn't get her name she only popped in on her day off and got drafted in to help so thankyou sooo much to you also!!!

Could not believe the attitude of the feller behind the bar whose taste in music left a LOT to be desired. Heavens knows how he was appointed the role of in-house dj….. Imagine the menu screen on The Sims or perhaps an elevator in a corporate building. This is a village bleeding pub for cryin out loud! We politely asked him to change it, which he did in the end (thank f——) but not without a fat dose of attitude and sass. If he wonders why 90% of his seats are empty on a Saturday night, this review might clue him in. The best advice is free. Much love.

We visited here for lunch based off recommendation and good reviews. I don't know who reviewed it but they lied. The staff were largely a miserable bunch, no chat, no smiles got the sense they wanted us there about as much as they wanted to be there themselves. However, the food was the most disappointing. Tell me why the only dish that was hot was the kids meal and I mean it was PIPING hot! Even as she sat it down she told me to be mindful of the plate because it was so hot... Lucky I'm giving it to a kid then?! The rest of the food was a £10 lot of bagged freezer food from Aldi that cost us £30. However, once we managed to get the kids meal to an eatable temperature.. She devoured it so that was good. Although, it was described as 'hidden veg' pasta sauce which really lookedq1 more like tinned spaghetti sauce.

What a day for a wedding! Considering ours was The Duke's first wedding ceremony, the team could not have been more accommodating. They honestly could not have done more to execute our day perfectly. Craig, Poppy, Millie and Georgia worked tirelessly to ensure all our guests had a day to remember. The venue was a blank canvas to transform and we could not have been happier with how everything turned out. We can not thank the team enough, they all listened to what it was we wanted from our day and did everything in their power to bring our vision to life. The Duke of Cumberland is a large imposing building situated on one of North Ferriby's main streets and a short walk from shops and other facilities. It's clean and tidy and the traditional menu, selection of beverages and prices were in line with our expectations and other similar venues. The place was empty on our arrival and didnt get busier. Once ordered, our meals arrived promptly. Full credit to the young guy who served us. He was very attentive and kept himself motivated, though he had little to do. Hopefully, The Duke gets going on a evening or weekends. Not everyone can afford the luxury of visiting the pub during the day but the management and staff would benefit from a bit more support from the good people of Ferriby, who will be the first to complain if The Duke meets the fate of many other establishments and is replaced with a housing development.

I couldn't fault anything at all. The pub looks beautiful on the outside which is what drew our attention after frequently driving by. The staff were inviting, friendly and polite and so attentive. There were five of us in our party and due to my daughter's ill behaviour I had only order 4 meals but 5 drinks. The staff triple checked that whether we were missing a meal. One staff experienced member was very aware of the skills of newer staff members offering on the job training where needed in a very professional way. The food was remarkable, I love a medium rare steak and this one was cooked to perfection. The rest of the party were of the same opinion too and passed compliments to the chef. The menu was brilliantly varied with plenty of dietary variants as well as healthier options. Everything was reasonably priced and will definitely be back. I highly recommend the family and dog friendly Duke of Cumberland to all.

"Just sit anywhere", was the reply. There's no seats I said back. She walked off so we stood and waited until a table was free. It was burger night so off I went to the bar to order 3 burgers for the family. As an ex military and with polite manners I asked for 3 burgers. "What type of burgers do you want, you should of looked at the menu 1st before ordering" is what I got, she gave me a menu. "The specials are not on this menu madam ". "Well go and grab one over there". Extremely rude lady who definitely has an attitude.

I don't normally leave reviews but the experience here was terrible. Not only did they seem to have run out of almost everything on the menu but they were unable or willing to meet my dietary requirements. I stated my dietary requirements whilst ordering and I simply wanted a side salad to go with my meal but was given a salad covered with quinoa - which I cannot eat. We informed them that I was unable to eat the salad provided and asked to have a plain one but was told that the chef would not replace it. This was even after offering to pay for a second salad. A simple salad is not too much to ask for but I was left with little food I could eat. The staff did not seem to care. We will not be back, which is a shame as we've has positive experiences here before.

After putting in heaps of effort (and money) to plan a party at the Duke, It was gutting to have it ruined all due to poor management. We raised concerns about uninvited punters entering and we were assured on several occasions this would be policed. The manager did not live to these promises and as a result the night came to a unfortunate end. Having seen him in action, It is shocking that the manager is in any position of authority, he could not have handled situation’s any worse on the night. Countless issues throughout the night were not resolved as they should have been. I personally feel he needs more training and a recap of the basic policies and procedures in order to meet the bare minimum expectations for a manager.

Not safe for women!!!!!! The owners brother spent the night making inappropriate and offensive gestures and comments to my younger sister and when I confronted him about this he punched me in face. Following the incident the owners brother was sent to the managers flat upstairs while he tried to kick us out. We asked the manager Adam Bryson to call the police multiple times to report the sexual harassment and violence and he refused and instead continued to shout at us and refuse to speak to us until we were sober despite the fact that none of us were drunk or had even had a drink that night due us driving. We have been told that there are two sides to every story so nothing can be done except the owners brother myself and other siblings are all barred for 2 weeks. The manager, and owners of this pub are doing absolutely nothing. Do not recommend going poorly managed and unsafe. Update - instead of checking on my sister and using any kind of decency - they are instead spreading lies and victim blaming by getting locals to write reviews blaming her instead. We have requested cctv from Marstons themselves which will show that me and my family only had one drink at the start of the night. My sister could have been naked and/or drunk and it still gives nobody the right to harass her. We were not drunk. We did not start any fight. My sister did not deserve (nor does any woman) to be harassed on that night or any days following that.

If you believe the manager should allow a young woman to feel harassed and afraid because she didn't pay to be in a certain area of a pub then this is probably a good place to visit. If you're the kind of person who believes the manager should definitely not ring the police after a fight has broken out following harassment of a young woman then you'll love it here. If you like your veggie option to contain meat here's the place to be. Personally it's not for me.

Worked so hard to serve and clear which couldn't have been easy as was extremely busy. There was an incident during the evening (obviously fuelled by alcohol) which was dealt with in a very professional manner by the Manager. I understand he is now being vilified for doing his best in an extremely difficult situation. I find this unacceptable and unnecessary. Hospitality is struggling currently post covid, times are hard for us all. I need my local to continue to be the amazing place it is thanks to a great team with great management. Last night I unfortunately witnessed appalling behaviour at this pub at a birthday party that was happening at the same time as our visit. A young girl, maybe 19 ish, was been made very uncomfortable by a much older man and his inappropriate comments. The girl returned to her family table and was followed by said older man, he then tried to follow her outside. When barred from following her, he started throwing punches, hitting her brother/boyfriend/relative... The owner/ manager, Adam, seemed to be blaming the family and the young girl rather than the older guy and also seemed to be refusing to call the police. We left at that point and won't be back. I'd suggest if you're a young woman or have younger women in your family you avoid this place. Have reported the incident to Marstons

During the night, a young woman was verbally assaulted and the idea to resolve the problem was to stop serving drinks at the bar and outright refused to call the police after a fight had taken place. Not only was this one of the worst pubs I’ve ever been to, it’s a pipe-dream that the “management” are still able to work in this establishment. This is a unsafe place and there is no reason to come here.

Member of staff vaping behind the bar set the tone. My son and I had the cowboy burger which I assume due to the name was cooked on the Texas/Mexico border on a very hot day as it was incredibly dry. Few others had the Sunday dinner the veg was poor. Not sure I'll be rushing back.

Friendly pub with staff that remember what your drink is - even if you can't. A pub that is still well supported with locals that enjoy life..

We booked a table and it was available when we arrived. The service was great and we did not have to wait long before we had our drinks brought to the table and our food arrived. All was hot and delicious. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Professional Review Unfortunately on this occasion it is going to be a 2 star review. This establishment has gone down hill. Hardly anything in stock on the menu no pigs in blankets and no chicken and limited drink available like no Prosecco etc and plus over an hour wait for a simple Burger and chips. Online the roast dinners come with stuffing etc but they don’t come with it and when asked they just said they had no stuffing in stock. The roast dinner is substandard. Watered down gravy chewy meat it’s just a shame. The burger was just a Pattie out of the freezer that was burnt and the chips came out cold. The children’s portions are tiny and came out cold. Worst review I’ve had to do to date what a shame. Unfortunately this establishment has lost its vibe since mark had it. In a positive light the manager dealt with the issues professionally and issued a refund. See attached photos

Really difficult to say anything positive about our experience here in Jan 2023. Poor service, really poor food and dirty cutlery. My advise would be to keep your money in your pocket and visit somewhere else if you're looking for a pub lunch. We'd taken a lovely walk alongside the Humber from Hessle and were really looking forward to a lovely pub lunch. Arrived just after 12 to be told there wasn't any meat pies. Was offered a vegetarian pie or a seasonal pie. I asked what was in the seasonal pie to be told ''chicken and stuffing I imagine''. It turned out the seasonal pie was chicken, carrot and parsnip when I asked them to confirm which sounded nice so I ordered one. Baby food inside a pastry case best describes it. Awful. Chips had been cooked many many times but the peas were OK. My partner said her sausage and mash was so tasteless she started to wonder if she'd caught Covid but she hadn't thankfully. Won't ever return.

Excellent service; first class person and machine; prompt, efficient and skill full. No supervision necessary and took extra care to consult when finished.

Been coming here since I was 18, has changed over the years, some times bad sometimes good. But it has always kept a level head over the years, and has always been for me a go to place.
