From one great experience at a M&S cafe (previous review) to a terrible one. Firstly, horrible buisness decision to put the cafe right at the back of the first floor, with so much going on the ground floor, took me ages to even work it out. Self service system is awful, it wouldn't accept voucher, another one with a frozen screen and 3 customers behind had issues too, all requiring a humans help (you would be forgiven for thinking ordering with a human to begin with is easier? Crazy eh?) Furthermore pickup point for a takeaway drink is super unclear. While waiting overhead 2 complaints from other customers that coffee was cold, and a complaint on wait time for food. Cortado was acceptable, milk needed less airation but perfectly acceptable, special origin beans are clearly of very good quality.

Much, much better than the old M&S is Solihull town centre, the foodhall is excellent BUT choose your time to visit carefully. The layout of the car parking and entrance and exits can cause bottlenecks at busy times and entitled idiots that choose to ignore the flow of traffic don't help

This place is clearly understaffed, there are always numerous tables uncleaned , staff cant keep up , the tables are generally unclean, a simple drink takes an absolute age . This place is not exactly cheap, the management need to employ more staff , not blaming serving staff, they are doing the best that they can, they are understaffed and under pressure

I purchased a dine in gastro meal on Sunday having travelled 250 miles from Devon. When I got to my destination i realised I had been overcharged by 6.50. I emailed the customer service team who had no compassion and told me to go back to the store for a refund. 250 miles!! No. I would have liked compensating say a dine in but customer service team say no. So my impression of M&S has drastically gone down after 40 years of shopping plus how many people shopped the dine in deal and have been overcharged!! Not happy

This is a great, well stocked M&S. They have a large food section that is very well laid-out and sells everything you might need. There was a fantastic cheese and wine section and great bakery. The checkout layout also works particularly well for trolleys.

Visited the Sears Retail Park on Saturday 26th August 2024 and received great service by Evie who was on the fitting room but went on the till later . She was really busy but still helped me as the store didn’t have a pair of trousers I was looking for . She looked on her pad and managed to get a pair in for me in for the very next day . Evie was friendly professional and empathic she went above and beyond for me and did everything she could to get me the trousers I wanted . I did ask someone else and they weren’t as helpful as Evie and just said they didn’t have them in . Evie was outstanding in her service and really made my day . Can you thank her personally for me as at is necessary to praise the staff that give such outstanding service and make more money for the company by using their own initiative and standing out and going above and beyond for the customer . Evie is a great asset to your company Thank you Evie .

Don't risk it. You'll be sucked into spending more time than you think, then you'll find one of those nice 'overstayed parking' notices arriving in the post. You'll be more bitter than the coffee in the dubious Cafe. Avoiding the inconsistent and confusing parking restrictions at Sears retail park means avoiding this shop too I'm afraid.

The café upstairs is going down the hill. They do not clean/ whipe the tables, they are slow, they offer you sugars and you need to tell how many you want becauae they dont leave them in the table. For a £9.40 breakfast l think it is NOT ok.

Warning - if you order a large coffee they just add extra water and charge you 30p more for the privilege. They won't automatically add an extra shot of coffee unless you order that separately (another 50p) so you end up with a weak coffee. Never had that happen anywhere else.

My wife has dementia recently diagnosed and I noticed she was having difficulty with her bra having gained weight due to the condition making her compulsivly eat. I thought that it would be easy to take her to get measured for correct underwear but was obviously mistaken (being a clueless male), Anyway I visited your Solihull branch (which is in Shirley) and asked about a measuring and fitting service to only be told that there is a 2 week waiting time. As my wife is obviously not very well I asked one of your staff if they could just measure my wifes torso thinking I would buy a selection of bras and return those that were not suitable. Your employee in question obviously realised my wifes uncomfort and my distress and took it upon herself to help and offered a fitting there and then even though she was busy performing other tasks. She spent around 40 minutes with us and was so kind and considerate. She was amazing and comforted my wife no end. I would have really liked to buy an item but your employee was so honest about the fitting not being correct it was commendable. I would really like you to recognise her in any 1;1 or appraisal she has for being so helpful, considerate, compassionate and going the extra mile. It is very rare indeed these days that anyone does this. I noticed from her name badge that she is Caroline. Please pass on our sincere gratitude.

I visited this retail park and did not have change to use for the shopping trolleys. I walked around the corner to get some money from the bank. Little did I know that this contravenes the parking conditions on this ridiculous park, where you are not allowed to walk out of the park once your car is parked there. I ended up with a £60 fine as a result. I will be boycotting this park in future for this Orwellian treatment, and I suggest others do the same.

Visited the restaurant for breakfast and was immediately met with the impersonal ambiance of ordering from a machine rather than engaging with human beings. The menu was disappointingly limited, with options missing essential ingredients like a simple bacon and egg roll. Settled for eggs benedict, which turned out to be a lacklustre choice. The total bill amounted to an outrageous £24, considering the subpar quality of the food and service. Upon requesting cutlery, the inadequacy of the staff became evident as we were initially provided with insufficient utensils. Even basic condiments like salt and pepper were missing, requiring additional requests. The toast, accompanied by rock-hard butter, arrived cold, indicating a blatant disregard for food quality. The interaction with the staff further exacerbated the dismal experience. When asking for more butter, the response was delivered sarcastically, with an excessive amount carelessly dropped onto the table. Throughout the meal, the staff seemed more engrossed in their personal conversations than attending to customers' needs. Adding insult to injury, my tea remained unstirred due to the absence of a teaspoon, despite attempts to draw attention to the issue. The food itself was underwhelming, with the hollandaise sauce overpoweringly vinegary, leaving a sour taste in more ways than one. Overall, the experience was nothing short of a pathetic display of incompetence. The staff appeared more like mannequins than individuals incapable of providing satisfactory service. Avoid this establishment at all costs; it's an experience best avoided.

I was at the Shirley store on 20th march 2024 When I had a really bad turn & felt faint & really unwell. The store Manager Calum McKenzie Who is also a first aider, came to my assistance. He was so kind & caring getting me water a chair & bowl because I felt sick. He sat on the floor with me for quite a while reassuring me at all times not to worry . I was touched by his lovely manner. He is definitely a great asset to your store. I am truly grateful to him Please convey my sincere thanks to him. He said someone would be in touch with me to see how I was. A lady just rang me has promised. What lovely customer service. I am happy to say I feel so much better today. A good sized store with items laid out well and ready to navigate around. Do not go to the store near the end of the day as only self service tills are available for use and they do not accurately weigh your basket. I scanned one thing twice by accident and didn't realise until I got home and checked the receipt. Thankfully the item wasn't that expensive. The cafe has a terrible setup. The self service points don't work well (I think M&S staff need to go and look at McDonald's). There is not enough seating and the store is understaffed.

I visited M&S Sears retail Park Friday 28th April 2023 at 17.40 hours. The cardigan I wanted didn't have the size on rail and I asked at pay counter if there was any in stock. The sales assistant checked on computer and there was 3 in stock and she alerted someone to get it from the back and this was done promptly and very friendly. I was so pleased the size was available as it was for a present but if these 3 items were on the rails and not in the back of shop who knows who else would have bought one?

The shop itself is great, the cafe however is incredibly confusing. Self service machines are incredibly slow and there are no menus. If you want to eat in you have to find a table, then go and order on the machine and then go back to the table and wait for food. Some older visitors want to be able to order a hot drink or cake at the till and be served by a person. The setup is ridiculously unorganised. The staff are clearly stretched and these self service machines are a hindrance not a help. Would not print a receipt on my visit and the buzzers kept on running out. Why doesn’t the cafe have menus and the option to order at a counter. I go for the shops itself but not for the cafe anymore unfortunately.

I came for my Christmas shopping to sears retail park. We shopped at marks and Spencer’s, Smyths, Next, Lidl, Mountain warehouse, during which I spent hundreds of pounds. I received £100 fine for exceeding the 2 hour parking limit. Should these retailers want higher profits they may wish to consider having a more reasonable parking limit, like the 3 hours it was previously.

Very disappointed, went for a black leather ladies belt narrowish width and small belt buckle, but their belt sizes for women are so small in range that there was no chance of buying one. Don't they think that large ladies want nice things. I had thought more highly of them. Gone down in my expectation. Feel like a 2nd class citizen just because I'm big.

You need to order at an electronic board which is not very inclusive for the less abled like my mother who doesn’t have a PIN number for her card, the partially sighted or wheelchair users. Once ordered you take a tag and a seat (although you need to collect cutlery and condiments yourself). Drinks were quick to be delivered, the breakfasts weren’t long after and were very nice. The staff were cheerful and efficient.

I waited 20 plus minutes today to pay for 7 items. Apparently there was a problem with the tills-these things happen, however, it was chaotic with no one taking charge or giving direction and no announcements. I’d have expected an apology when I finally got to pay for the premium priced food (e.g. 90p for one tomato), however, although I overheard the male assistant apologise to the man in front of me and to the man behind me…not a word of apology to me! I imagine that the vast majority of M and S food customers are middle-aged women. Perhaps familiarity really does breed contempt-or at least if you don’t look like you’ll kick-off, you don’t merit any recognition that you’ve been waiting SO patiently for SO long. All the frozen items had defrosted by the time I eventually got home. Extremely poor, I expect better.

Avoid this retail park - I came a couple of weeks ago and did shopping at marks and spencers and homesense and tkmaxx, there was heavy flooding in some stores so there was queues in store. I finished my shopping and left, there was no parking metres but a limited time to park but nowhere else where I could park close to those shops. I now have been sent a £100 fine for parking over time. Talk about ripping you off. I was shopping the entire time - NEXUS TRT FITTING SOME PARKING METRES YOU DOPES.

Usually leave unsatisfied and disheartened as I feel the bra fitters rush the appointment and just want to show me out. Rather than being advised with a fitter’s experience & knowledge, I am usually given an option to only try on 1/2 bra’s. Certain fitters have been quite negative/rude as well, let alone helpful, which has made me uncomfortable and ultimately confused. Was told that I should stop wearing a minimiser bra as will damage my back - M&S’s own lingerie is being criticised by staff to a recurring customer?!! However would like to give special thanks to Meena from the lingerie department. She did not rush the appointment & asked lots of questions about my issues + purpose of visit. She took the time to bring a variety of bras to try on - even gave me useful tips on how to fit myself/shop in the future - very kind, helpful and attentive lady!

Giving this rating as you have introduced sales people to effectively follow customers round pushing them to take out a m&s credit card, watched the Asian man literally preying on so many elderly people who clearly didn't want to talk to him very bad that you would allow this when customers are shopping walking round with a tablet and leaflet trying to push them into signing up for a credit card, watched an elderly man say he wasnt interested yet the man kept pushing questions 'so you dont want to save money' clearly some offer attached to using this card at marks and spencers the man was so embarrassed you could literally see him being forced to sign up when he didn't have the words to back out i spoke to staff at the till to tell them this shouldnt be happening and she juat replied with 'ill pass it on' came back a week later and he was still there this is not something anyone would expect in any shop let alone marks and spencer for that reason only 1 star

We have visited this store a number of times , mainly shopping in the food hall with each time being a good experience. Whilst shopping however a few weeks ago for some household items we took a look around the menswear department. Having purchase a few items in that occasion we decided to go back and have a little splash out. After only a few minutes from walking out the lift my wife made a comment that we were being followed. As we browsed around the shop picking up items to purchase along the way, the same security person was following us to every area we went, from the Tee shirts area, to the coats, trousers, shoes and even lounge wear. Even as we were standing in the queue waiting to pay the same security person came up to us and escorted us to the till and stood over us whilst we scanning through each item. One of the items had a security tag on and the security person took it behind the counter to remove it. As they were returning from behind the counter we heard them say over the radio "they are paying now". We have never had such an uncomfortable and intimidating experience such as this ever, whilst out shopping. Really unprofessional and inexperienced staff, following you around the store, approaching you in the queue and then saying they are paying now over the radio, making us feel like we are out to shoplift. Having also spent a few hundred pounds in the store on new clothes we found the experience somewhat disgusting. After leaving the menswear area we went downstairs to the food hall, I wonder if we were also being followed around there whist we were buying lunch.

Me, my wife and kids go to the cafe every Sunday and this Sunday wasn't like usual. Our food was very late and I wasnt really impressed. I then called the manager, Fiona from the cafe over and complained. She was extremely helpful and sorry for the situation and explained the staffing situation. On leaving she gave us a discount for the lateness in the food . Very happy and will be coming again. Excellent customer service, not seen nowadays except by maybe Amazon.

It's a decent and well kept M&S. Over two floors, you have a food hall, clothing for men, women, kids, babies, home decoration and even a little bank where you can buy and sell foreign currencies. Decent selection of food but with less reductions and offers than other places. There is also a small restaurant inside. It has shorter opening hours than the store itself but when it's open, you can get a tasty and healthy takeaway or eat in. That restaurant is in the ground floor near the food hall. I need to specify because they have another one at the second floor but it's less exciting. It has a larger seating area but it's more for a quick coffee and a piece of cake than anything else.

Sears retail park Solihull 2 hours ago where the queues were ridiculous! Only one person on the bank of 6 tills and trolley shoppers ( including myself) in a queue almost the length of the store and nobody to help. The guy on the till kept his head down as people were complaining but it didn’t prompt him to ring the bell for help. The self service check out had its own queue so I joined that one only to be told off by another customer for having too much food in my trolley to be using fast check out!! I rejoined the till queue and so I asked to speak to a manager who abruptly talked over me and told me to start unloading my shopping…no apology she just said she hadn’t noticed how busy the tills were!?! I love the food you make but the staff are becoming unhelpful and snappy I’ve noticed lately, that’s if you can find anyone to help, which probably means they are stressed. Not a pleasant shop today. Super sized store newly built in a large two-part retail park a couple of miles away from solihull Town Bentley within easy reach of the M42. This store has a large food hall and 3 floors of fashion and homeware. Modern, bright, and spacious. Sometime it's popularity can cause a little bit of an issue with the parking, so allow extra time for this.

After waiting for 50 minutes, we were finally given our drinks. Our food was still 30 mins away so we left hungry! Can’t believe we weren’t warned at the start and that orders were still being taken. The queue for refunds was as long as for those ordering. Second time that this has happened to us here…we will not be returning!

Total utter sham. Waiting excessively long for your order to come to the table, when it does drinks are like warm, and as for the food, l requested total refund. I shall not be going back, we were made to feel uncomfortable staff pointing at us as l asked to see the manager.... Cafe is not operating professionally. Wasn't even that busy.

Really disappointed on this visit to the m and s cafe today. I took my 3 year old for lunch. Ordered pancakes and juice for him with eggs on toast and coffee for me. The lady advised knives and forks are now served with the meal when I asked as there were non at the station. The cafe was busy so we undersandably waited a while for our drinks. My coffee was luke warm when I received it. We then waited a full 45 minutes later for our food. I saw at least 2 lots of customers who arrived after us be served their food and drinks. First the lady came out with just my food. I had to ask if my son's pancakes were coming too. When she came back we had no cutlery. So the lady said she'd get it. I watched her and she just went straight to the counter and started talking to a member of staff then picked up a tray and started serving someone else. It took another 5 minutes to flag someone else down to ask for cutlery. She said it should have come with the meal but didn't offer to get it until I asked for 2 forks and a knife please... She then came back with a knife and fork and a spoon even though I asked for a fork for my son. In the end to save a toddler tantrum I ate my eggs with the spoon so my son could use the knife and fork.. Really disappointing service and I left the cafe feeling stressed and flustered..

My fiance and I were struggling to find christmas items so asked a worker named Chris and he told us they wouldn't be in till the 18th. The following week he remembered our faces and even what we were looking for! Chris took us straight to the items and we both thought what amazing customer service from m and s sears.

This lovely new store is let down by the service in the café. On two separate occasions in the last two weeks I have had to wait 20 minutes just for a cup of tea, the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time. Staff are pleasant but their service is very slow, needs review. Not sure the self service buzzer system is very efficient.

The first time we came here the food was lovely. Amazing food, crispy melty cheesy toasties, lovely chips. We stayed for ages. We have only ever come on weekends, so understandably the place is busy. The second two times we have come we’ve had a really bad experience with customer service, and actually both times the tables next to us had similar issues. Food takes too long to come out, we saw our toasties sat on the pass for 15 mins while others who arrived later got their food before ours, people being served drinks and not getting food until half an hour later, dirty tables and floor. They are usually out of stock of a lot of things on the menu. I wanted a coke with my meal, the cafe was out of stock as was the food hall downstairs. I had to walk to boots to get a drink as I wasn’t a fan of any of the other soft drinks on offer. Both previous times we have come they have been out of chips. Staff wander around like they have no idea what they’re doing and who has ordered what. It’s a shame. We keep coming in hope we get the same experience as the first time but we’ve so far been disappointed.

Disgusted with the cafe. Visited today 24 October to find the only way to order and pay is to use a machine and pay by card. At 73 I am quite savvy enough to do this but the machine was not equipped to allow me to use my Budget card which has a credit of £33.98 on it. An M & S colleague helped me and confirmed this. Next point was my cup of coffee was delivered without a saucer and when I asked for one the colleague informed me that M & S had decided to forego saucers with the cups as too much energy is needed to wash then. I felt as if I was sat in a back street cafe with nowhere to put my spoon and I commented that it would use more energy clean the table of coffee drips. I was going to have lunch to use up some of the credit on my card but changed my mind after it could not be used. I will NEVER use the cafe again and in fact I have cancelled my Budget Card account with you. No point in having it if I cannot treat my friends to coffee and cake when I have accumulated so much credit. No wonder M & S are losing business and having to close stores. The staff were all lovely though and you do not deserve them.

Clean, bright, spacious and a great range of clothing for everyone. The cafe served up some very tasty cake and coffee. The food court is also vast with a huge range of food at great prices. Very friendly staff also.

I really liked M&S. I have been shopping in M&S for a long long time and I was excited when the new M&S opened at Sears retail Park in Solihull. Unfortunately I had a bad experience today. I got caught out with the new number plate recognition parking system that has been put in place and was fined £100 for overstaying (at a retail park ? With huge stores and cafes ? What a shock that I stayed so long) I went into Marks & Spencer’s to ask them to help me to get the fine stricken off (which they can do). I asked that they help me out as I had basically overstayed due to shopping and eating in their big shiny new store that day: I spent £200 all up. But unfortunately the manager told me there was nothing I can do and the signs are really obvious for the parking and I should’ve known better basically. And that three hours was a long time to do the shopping. And wouldn’t even help me to make a complaint about marks and the way they were handling my appeal for help. I asked how I could make a complaint and she said to google it! So not impressed with M&S Sears retail park staff customer service. I know I’m just one customer and they won’t care but I won’t be going back - Bad vibes! July 2022 Update : I went to Halfords where I had also visited that day ( but not as long as M&S). Halfords cancelled my ticket for me. As a loyal customer. Thank you Halfords, M&S you could take a page out of Halfords customer service and ethos !

Called into Solihull to charge the EV so I took advantage of using the fast charger at Marks and Spencer. Given the car needed a good top up of battery, I hit M&S Cafe for a bite to eat and to pass the time. I ordered a chicken ciabatta and some chips and was quite surprised at how greasy the food was when it came. The chips were wet with grease and on biting into the chicken ciabatta, the grease just flowed out of the bun. Not what I would have expected from M&S as it purports itself as above average for quality. Unfortunately it did not match up to those standards on this occasion and especially when you are paying M&S prices. 4 stars given as it wasn't inedible, despite me leaving the chips. Staff service taken into consideration on the review too, as they were pleasant and I am reviewing the overall experience.

I had shopped here today , before I had popped in Lidl so I had my shopping from there . About pay £27 plus on my D/D card by countless the women had turned of my transaction and said something it’s a security check !! No it’s not this woman on till did this because I was Asian male and is how racist people who live in white only Area and come work in our multicultural society don’t belong in this work place where they been judge mental because of my colour.

I would like to commend Marks and Spencers for excellent customer service on Menswear particularly a retail consultant Mohammed .He measured and fitted my son for two suits and a shirt .He was very respectful ,diligent ,had obvious experience in his department. Fuethermore we went in today a few days later to pick up the rest of the order and he remembered us and yet again went out of his way to be helpful as we needed suitbags which unfortunately they were out of but no matter to him ,he still went to further check out back to be sure as he knew we should be entitled to two the fact he was unsuccessful was not the point but the fact he was prepared to go that extra mile to help yet again was .Well done Mohammed and maybe if marks and Spencer can get in the suit bags again that would be even better.

Very fast service! I managed to order at the bar, went for a coffee and when I got back to the table food just arrived 😌 Quite nice full english breakfast, not as good as at he city but as for the airport service it’s okay. Not a fan of the coffee though, barely tastes as coffee. The Staff was very nice and very quick.

Really good food and extremely friendly staff. Our waiter Pedro was a star. So friendly and helpful, a welcome change to so-often surly hospitality staff. Steak was perfectly cooked, tagine flavourful. Creme brulee decadent. Wine excellent (merlot) . Food took awhile to arrive but it was worth it. Prices in line with airport / hotel sites. A nice start to our holiday the next day.

Visit on 3/11/24 at approx 3.25pm we ordered hot food cakes & drinks to be told they were closing at 4pm so we couldn't have them on plates and were served them as a takeaway even though we was asked if we were eating in so presumably charged to sit in.. coffee's were also served in take out cups. From 3.45 onwards we were constantly hounded by staff saying we are closing at 4 so rushed our food as we felt they wanted us out on time. At 4pm I visited the toilet only to be met by a member of directly outside the toilet when I came out to tell me yet again we're closing. This service from the staff is not acceptable if your going to serve hot food & drink until close & you pay to eat in then that's the service you should receive if not then close off seating area & allow people to just take out. Considering that the website clearly states Sunday opening till 5pm if this is not the case then website needs updating. I use many Costa coffee regular this is the worst I ever visited made to feel unwelcome & rushed and continuously hounded by staff to leave by 4pm. Will not be visiting this branch again & will be putting a formal complaint in
