Costa in Solihull

Outside temp was 9c when we arrived on 20th September. Inside Costa was like sitting in a fridge with the air con full on cold! People were sat with coats on. Is this done to make people vacate tables quickly. Seating areas arranged OK but the furniture was worn out . The upholstery was torn and worn with the framework exposed. The bench seats were torn also. The upholstery was worryingly filthy which posed a hygiene risk. How much bacteria was in there. We were checking our clothing to make sure the dirt had not transferred onto us. Considering we were next to the NEC arena and most likely this place gets thousands of customers, a refurbishment and deep clean is long overdue.

It's the Costa Coffee service you expect, however, this branch is in dire need of renovation. Seats are ripped, tables are worn. Lock was broken on the disabled toilet but had to use it anyway, the metal rails are corroded inside. Please get the builders in and do this place up ASAP!

Tables and chairs need cleaning and reupholstering chairs very dirty tables very stained staff not busy but to busy chatting

Wot an absolute disgrace..popped in for coffee/toasty..every table was filthy..window sills filthy..windows filthy...food bits left over every table...really was a filthy dump...very uncomfortable experience...never again.... -10

Friendly staff and fab carrot cake

Came in today to ask about a job available online. Manager was extremely rude and hostile, I felt very threatened .Please don’t go here . Not worth your time

The barista was wearing grey jogger shorts and didn't seem too bothered about his job didn't make drinks to Costa regulations I had to remind him to add ingredients to my iced latte that he neglected to add. The state of the chairs and general seating area was diabolical. How can you expected people to sit in these seats table had stains on it. And my partner hot latte had a flavouring with it but there was barely any flavouring when i asked if he could put some more flavouring I said please. I was greeted with a grunt of yeah one minute not apology. Service was horrendous someone needs to be re trained in several areas of the business. I used to work for costa and the service really has gone out the window at this one very disappointing .

One of the better Costa's I've visited, very clean and tidy throughout, plenty of seating available. Also props to the very friendly barista who was needing to work solo on such a busy morning due to a colleague quitting at short notice.

As usual Costavhad everything we needed, a latte, cinnamon bun, chocolate muffin and a blueberry bubble frappe. Nit was a long drive, the best thing us I hot one of the drinks fee😀

Fancied a coffee and maybe more depending on the selection available. The staff members were patient as were couldn't make our mind up haha. Went in wanting a latte (my fave) and then contemplating hot drinks then cold drinks then hot then cold and then, well l got a Latte 😆. Also fancied a carrot cake which was nice but not the best l've ever had in a coffee shop. Overall it was a pleasant experience and clean and tidy. I would recommend this place to others.

Too slow different coffee than the other costa

Arrived at 8:05 not open, waited until 8:15 still not open. It says 8am on the door as well as on google. Unsure why the store isn't open? I use the store regularly for breakfast meetings?

Saturday 15 April 2023, We came here to meet a friend who was going to the Andre Resu Concert as all the restaurants were fully booked. The wait to get food and coffee was horrendous in excess of an hour and a half. In saying that THERE WERE ONLY TWO STAFF ON - WHO WERE TRYING TO COPE WITH THE MASSIVE QUEUE - WHAT WERE MANAGEMENT THINKING OFF - KNOWING A BIG CONCERT LIKE THIS WAS ON.. The food that was served was up to its usual standard, despite two very stressed staff who were coping brilliantly under very difficult circumstances. NOTE TO THE MANAGEMENT: It would be prudent in the future to listen to your front line staff, the reason that they were totally stressed out was due to your total ineptitude.

Whilst waiting to be served, I noticed that an enclosed cake container by the counter had a fly trapped in it and that it was intermittently landing on the three cakes inside. When I then got served - without so much as a hello from the server, or even a response to me saying "Good morning" - I ordered my coffee and then politely informed him about the fly. He took a quick look and then went back to the counter. I asked him if he was going to leave the two cakes out that the fly had walked over and he responded by simply shrugging his shoulders in an exaggerated fashion, much to the amusement of the other server. Rather than respond to this obvious attempt to provoke me, I simply left (without paying or completing my order). Not just because of the rudeness - I also wasn't comfortable with eating/drinking somewhere with such a lax attitude towards food hygiene. I usually like Costa but my first impression of this particular branch has put me off of ever returning.

Perfect coffee and food :) but sooooooo dirty chairs :( you have to clean it or change it, not nice...

Entered a Costas in Blackfiars Road forty minutes before closing and was refused a sit down coffee. All the staff member needed to do was remind customers to be finished before 3.45. We thought forty minutes was plenty of time for a quick coffee. Instead we left and bought nothing. The staff member could have been courteous and referred us on to the Starbucks a few doors down that was still trading at 3.20pm but did not.

Dirty cups dirty chairs , won’t be going again

Use this branch quite often as close to work. Service good, tables cleared quickly, friendly staff. But. . . . . .PLEASE do something about your cake display, which I presume is the same throughout all branches, open and easily accessible. The flies were literally crawling over the whole display. How the staff couldn't see this till I pointed it out is beyond me. Individual cake domes covering each stand would be better than being totally exposed. Come on Costa, your customers expect and deserve better than this

Visited this place today. A lady and man was behind the counter. The lady had just finished up serving a family and so I was in line to be served. The gentleman was helping someone already. The lady totally ignored me after making eye contact and proceeded to make a drink for herself. After that walked into the room on the side totally ignoring me waiting. The gentleman then came and served me. Rude and ignorant individual which ruined my experience here

I had mocha, my wife had something hot & pink & we both enjoyed sharing piece of Belgian tiffin. All good. And there's a window although all you see is the car park!

Super rude and grumpy staff. The atmosphere was glum. There were super long queues as it was short staffed. Only two miserable staff. The coffee shop itself was extremely dirty, the tables were unclean, the chairs were unclean, a lot of tables had coffee cups and cake crumbs from the previous customers. Apparently they were either out or didn’t make the drink that I requested. Super condensed drinks menu, not a lot of choice at all. Super overpriced as well for what you get.

Nice spacious coffee shop in Resorts World. Variety of coffee, cake and sandwiches. Nice and open with big windows so plenty of light gets in. For those who like planes, you can see them coming in and going out from Birmingham Airport.

Dropped one star for the high price and another star for air conditioning in the middle of winter.

Very accessible to all, convenient location. My partner tried engaging in conversation with the barrista but she wasn't very interested and a little rude. We had a coffee and tea with an almond slice and a millionaire shortbread, the plate my shortbread was on was dirty with finger prints and other marks. Service was quick though and products upto costa standard.

Really disapointed no food that we asked for No sanmequale and only salt n vinegar.... no fis no chicken sad

Cups were filthy that were being used for every drink on machine looked like they'd been used for days to mix drinks. Staff on phones while serving people, very slow service, missing half of the topping on the drink I had which spoilt it for me and my partner as this was a treat day. Tables were filthy, cups everywhere, no one cleaning. Worst Costa experience I've had.

The service is good staff are polite services quick establishment is presentable but for this one thing. I want to buy a Americano and I saw a member of staff picking rubbish up outside the shop which was good and clearing the tables and then she went back inside to put the rubbish in the bin and straight back behind the counter without washing their hands which is not acceptable serving food and drinks.

Food was okay but staff were not really friendly or welcoming which is a shame.

One thing that I have come to expect from Costa Coffee is good crafted coffee and a consistent taste profile. I'm a qualified barista (:) I have a certificate dated 2013 from the Perth Barista School in Australia for one morning's mess around with an espresso machine). I recognise the sound of the "wailing banshee", when the steam wand is incorrectly positioned in the milk pitcher. It was the first time hearing this curdling sound at a Costa. When I saw the oat milk being poured into the espresso, I could see there was no microfoam. This was a first for me, at Costa. I asked for it to be repoured, the efforts of which were performed by the barista's colleague. It was, this time round, crafted with the quality. One first world problem averted. I sat down and noticed I had 1 bar of 4G signal on my Apple iphone 11 pro max. I began sobbing, ruining the latte art atop my flat white.

Just what we needed and it didn't disappoint very good.

Very good service but not a great selection of cakes ( didn't want a sandwich ) had a decaf coffee which wasn't amazing ( will stick with my Douwe Egberts) seats and table height uncomfortable. Havevthe sugar sachets gotten smaller?!?!?!

As we were in Resorts World it was approx 4.55pm and we thought we would be able to have a drink but it was closing! So not very impressed. It looked clean and pleasant thats why we went. Obviously Covid may have something to do with their opening hours.

This coffee shop is reasonably clean and tidy given how busy it is. Service is efficient. The drinks menu and quality is similar to other Costa shops.

Staff good but not enough. Coffee ok. My biggest problem was it wasn't very clean. Lots of dirty tables and it was only 10am so not many people. Puts me off. A food place MUST be clean.

We visited the Birmingham branch @ Worlds Resorts (NEC) today at 17:30 and were extremely disappointed as there was a member of staff standing by the entrance not letting people in when the store should have been opened up to 18:00. We were desperate for a cup of coffee after queuing 2 hours outside the arena. You can’t stopped serving customers half an hour before closing time. What’s the reason? Can you really afford losing customers? We are big funs of your coffee and always supporting your business but today was a horrible experience. A cup of coffee to go wouldn’t take half an hour to make.... what a shame!

Love costa hot chocolate. Generally good place to stop for cuppa and food. Sometimes can get too busy and long queues that’s the only fine side. Staff are always friendly.

This is a very busy Costa in a great location within Resorts World. The standard is what you expect. I enjoyed a sit down and enjoyed a drink whilst taking a break from grabbing some bargains at RW.

Usual costa fare, bit disappointed there were uncleaned tables when place was so quiet, crumbs left on a table is not a good when only half a dozen people in the cafe. This was my experience on only one visit so may be a one off rare occurrence.

Unreal. Within ten minutes of us enjoying a well earned drink The length of the queue grew to some 10 meters long. Never seen that before. Get there before 12.45.

A really busy Costa but the pleasant happy staff were speedy in serving everybody and we even found a quiet corner to relax in.

There seems to have been a very long queue and slow service whenever I have visited. I think I managed to get a coffee here once and was the usual costa standard but several times I have walked out after 10 minutes of waiting.

Full range of products and very friendly n helpful staff, had ordered hot chocolate with whipped cream which was as usual great

Went for a quick breakfast before a conference. Coffee was hot. Breakfast was okay muffin was a little soggy and couldn't find any napkins.
