Called in mid afternoon for lunch. Arrived about 2:45pm and told the kitchens were due to close at 3pm so we had a quick browse of the menu and ordered quickly. Drinks were OK. Simple order of fish and chips, cheeseburger and fried buttermilk chicken burger. When the food arrived it was very disappointing. The chicken burger was an overcooked and shrivelled piece of chicken breast that didn't even half fill the bun and was sent back and as the kitchen had shut we were refunded the cost. The fish and chips was OK but the peas were like bullets and melded together. The cheeseburger was edible but very basic and not worth the £16 price. As soon as we finished the two edible meals we left and went elsewhere. Would I go here again? If I just wanted a drink possibly. If I wanted food - no, very disappointing. Front of house staff were pleasant enough but all three meals seemed like they were quickly churned out by a chef who just wanted to finish and get out with no attention to quality

Dropped in after an event, Sunday as everywhere kitchens were closed. Ordered buttemilk chicken burger and chips. It wasn't great and don't feel well. The food was presented well and on time, staff well nice but the buttemilk chicken was just overcooked batter and the chips we well cooked, nothing wrong but they just tasted like onion. Seems to maybe they reheated the chicken and what chicken there was had dired out and chip oil is old and needs changing.

We stopped here en route to an event in Reigate and were hoping for some lunch. However, we were told there was no kitchen open. I'm not sure if this is a regular thing as, having checked their website, they have a menu but have 'Closed' on their kitchen opening times. The pub itself was lovely and welcoming. Price was fairly typical (I think I paid around £4 - £5 for vodka and mixer). I particularly liked its hidden outdoor space - the rooftop beer garden. The only problem is that it takes a lot of stairs to access it. You'll need to go up a winding stair case inside the pub and then go up an additional set of (quite steep) steps outside, so it's definitely not a good choice if you have mobility issues! Overall, I thought this was a well-decorated, friendly pub. But if you are planning on eating, I would just make sure you contact the pub first as it was unclear to us why the kitchen was closed.

Really nice to see how empty it is in the market now. Unpopular amidst the other pubs in reigate makes it a pleasant experience. Although the drinks are on the unnecessarily expensive side (it’s Reigate so expected), had a lovely gin with friends. Really quiet evening as the pub isn’t very lively. Good now that it is over 21, but would not recommend for a night out, or a weekend trip. Perfect for a meet up for teaching staff, or office shindig. Avoid the food however, my friends son would work underage cooking chicken, so perhaps dodgy. Staff not too nice. Bearded man incredibly dismissive, and always looking to kick people out it appears, appearing aggressive at times. Glad it has really quietened down, not many people going anymore which is great. Intimate and cosy. Recommended for the middle aged in reigate! 😎

Outstanding staff- Vaz treated me like a Queen ❤ Hospitality to me, same as reception work is NOT a job you should ever do unless you -Love ppl -genuinely love chatting to customers -have natural empathy & interest in ppl. Since it's such a bugbear to me as an HSP that I regularly encounter ppl in these jobs who very clearly don't fulfil the above bare minimum, i wanted to tk the time to praise Vaz & the staff at this charming Reigate local pub. I am 37 weeks preggerz, we popped in for a few drinks to kill time before our train. Vaz was so caring & chatty & made me feel as if I was the Duchess of Cornwall! A very clear genuine love of people & enjoyment in seeing their needs met & made as comfty as possible. I wish all pubs & reception managers would understand that this is the level of Hospitality & TYPE of personality required to mk a 3 or 4 star pub or dinner experience into a 5 star one.... We will be back sometime with baby Willow! ❤

We needed somewhere for a nice family lunch was looking forward to some pub food we ordered chicken burgers which were inedible. It was supposed to be a buttermilk burger the crispy coating was wet and wiped straight off the chicken was a grayish colour and tasted as though it had been cooked on defrost in the microwave. Due to being pregnant was not risking eating this meat and was very disappointed by the money we had wasted eating here. Nice pub for a drink, however would avoid the food.

I have visited the Market Stores before, usually sitting in the roof top garden terrace area which is a hidden gen in Reigate. Thankfully I'd booked a table inside as last night's horrendous weather would have scuppered a really lovely evening. My friend hadn't visited before, and we were both impressed with how the staff looked after their customers taking into consideration all of the necessary Covid-19 measures (i.e. face masks, booking in advance, table service only etc). Please restock the rosė Cava as it was delicious and sadly we drank the last bottle! Thank you to Vas and his colleagues, I'm sure we will pay a return visit in the future. Book in advance to avoid disappointment! Highly recommended.

This is a really nice, large pub. The decor is really nice inside & they have a variety of different types of chairs & tables to sit at. There is outside seating on the high street so you can people watch. Upstairs is another bar where they typically seat large groups of people. They also have a roof terrace up there. It's a lovely little haven, a right sun trap, with plenty of shade from the beautiful foliage growing all around. They have an extensive bar selection & the food is actually quite good. The food service can be a bit slow though & occasionally you'll experience a wait at the bar. They put on a decent Christmas. Santa hat & charity Christmas crackers with environmentally friendly prizes included with your booking. They open the upstairs bar too. The food is OK for pub grub en masse. Certainly better than some of Reigate's more expensive establishments! Friendly bar staff too.

I had to wave my arms to draw attention from the young barmaid that someone actually wanted to part with money and buy something - she was too busy talking to the equally young barman. Of course I've nothing against young people as I was a barman in my late teens/early twenties and I have a 17 year-old daughter. What got me was her aggressive disposition at having to be summoned and she made me realise what a teenage girl goes through when being bullied (barmaid whispering to her colleague whilst glancing in our direction etc after making the huge effort to serve us). What a disgrace! Who was managing this place - or were they the managers? I've been here many times over the past 25 years, and I won't rush back. I'm also a great fan of Fullers.I dod note that the bar was pretty empty for this time of year, so this seemed to make sense.

I had never been to this pub before. We had our department doo on Thursday the 12th upstairs. We pre ordered the food and to be true I was not expecting to much, most of these Xmas menus are inedible and cold, this was not what we encountered. I started with Pate which was good but pate is difficult to mess up. The highlight was the second course which I had picked the beef. This was one of the BEST beef dishes I have ever had, it was tender and cooked to perfection. I thought it was just me but everybody who had the beef raved about it. Finished off with the brownie which was again excellent. Only thing that could be improved was a lack of roast potatoes, just needed more but the ones we did have where very good. The room can be a bit noisy but that's Xmas parties for you

Came in here for a drink late afternoon when it was pretty quiet. Big bare interior and a beer garden at the back. Not a lot of inside seating for such a big pub. The walls are stripped wood with all sorts of mottos and themes. The beer and lager selection is extensive and up to date with the current craft beer craze. We didn’t eat, but the menu is classic modern pub grub, with quite high prices, though this is the centre of highly affluent Reigate so maybe that’s not very surprising. The bar staff were friendly and efficient. Our gin and tonics came with added juniper berries, which says a lot about how hipster this place is trying to be. Probably a lot more impressive when it’s busier.

Lager plus chicken and chips should be pretty straightforward for this place. Today was a bit of a let down. Chicken burger and skinny fries I think had been under the hot plate for a week, waiting for me to order. Naturally I’m too hungry / polite to say anything so I cover it in mayo and dig in. There was no immediate after delivery checkup on how the food was so I stopped just short of finishing the burger to keep a little evidence for the how was your meal checkup later on. That did happen, I replied ‘not great I’m afraid’, which was as blunt as I could manage. It was ignored and the chap carried on collecting plates. I tried again with a ‘4/10 if I’m honest’ which was also duly ignored. My colleague two places down heard both my responses and the guy asking was immediately next to me. Pub was very quiet and upstairs was closed so I think we caught the chef on his break and the staff member on a bad day. Sorry Fuller’s, this time I’m afraid my experience fell well short of mine and your expectations.

Doesn’t have any usp that makes it feasible and in fact if anything is one of my less favourite places to go on a busy night. Several items were not available from the menu and we were told very quickly that kitchen was closing in 30 mins so could we make our choices and decide on dessert now. Allowed to eat and food by all accounts was ok. Finished our main course and relatively soon after presented with our bill. No coffees etc, just out please. Very nice interior and selection of beers, the service was quick and friendly but there was nothing to eat if you are allergic to wheat (gluten) (in brackets because people do not seem to realize that gluten is a component of wheat) it always amazes me that people that work in the food industry don't know that or sometimes dont even know what wheat is either. They are terrified of the situation and as with the Market Stores hand you a printed sheet of paper with ticks along the recipes and then don't know if the ticks mean that there is the allergen in the food or not. This chart seemed to indicate that the chips may have been ok but they were so terrified that they would not serve them to me and I ended up with a few leaves and some off mozzarella for my lunch. I had to whip quickly up to the canteen when I got back to the office to get something to eat as I was starving.

Having visited this establishment on several occasions ( i work nearby) I would suggest that you avoid it and go elsewhere. the pub is on 3 levels, ground floor is a pub but so badly laid out they have very few seats, the first floor is a restaurant which never seems to open at lunch time, the 3rd and final level is the garden which is not very convenient and can be reach from the bar by climbing 2 flights of stairs , the second set is quite steep, they are often reluctant to provide food in the garden. Service is indifferent. food quality has been variable from bad to worse. A fullers Pub with Guest beers. The Garden seems to have been closed most of this week (afraid of the clients catching the sun?) I received an invite on my phone today 16/6/2017 for National Beer day 15/6/2017 sums up the poor service. This was for a free pint! We have stopped here a couple of times and been pleasantly surprised. Good pub food, seemingly "proper" ie not out of a bag vegetables, and decent-sized portions. We will return as we know we can get a table (we stopped both times for a Sunday lunch) and that we won't have to wait ages for our food to arrive.

So much for spontaneity in Reigate. I made a last-minute decision to go out for dinner with the young adults, as I was wanting a steak for dinner ahead of the Brighton Half marathon I was running the next day. After ringing eight restaurants and pubs (yes eight), including six on the Reigate High street at 5pm, only the Market Stores could accommodate a 7pm booking for three. The rest were all booked out until after 9.30pm.We had first tried the Market Stores when it was renovated a few years and recall it being an unpleasant meal. But beggars can't be choosers, so it was off to give the upstairs part of this lively pub a second chance.Disaster soon struck. Even though we were the first customers in the largely deserted restaurant that evening the server informed me that they were already out of rib-eye steak. "Oh no!" I exclaimed "That exactly what I've come to eat!!". She gestured towards a table set up for a party of 12 and said that they had pre-ordered, and that as a result of the number of orders for rib-eye steak, the chef no longer had any spare. Even playing the half-marathon card didn't work, the chef couldn't be persuaded to part with a rib-eye steak for me.Then fussy vegetarian daughter weighed in, with her normal questioning of the menu and requests to know what was contained in the two vegetarian options (a spinach and falafel burger and a vegetable terinne that had vegetables including sultanas and was thus deemed unsuitable). She settled for the first choice, but without the yogurt dressing, rendering her dish plain and rather tasteless, and an order for a second helping of fries. All this to-ing and fro-ing brought the manager to our table (we were the only diners there at this point) presumably after the server had alerted to him to problem customers. He explained they'd had a busy lunch and combined with the pre-orders, rib-eye steaks were off the menu. He offered to pay for our drinks (my red wine and my son's orange juice) so we could leave and go elsewhere, suggesting the Buenos Aires steak restaurant (my first choice but already booked out).I settled for a hamburger and chips, and my son had the beef ribs, which were sticky and so plentiful his 18-year-old appetite couldn't stomach them all. So out of the three dishes, one was a hit.The restaurant manager very nicely deducted our two drinks off the bill as a goodwill gesture that was appreciated. I'm in two minds whether I'll give this place a second chance. I quite like coming here with mates for drinks downstairs, but the kitchen is a bit hit and miss still, and too much appears pre-prepared, with the chef apparently unable to be flexible or cater for anything on the spot.As we left around 90 minutes later the restaurant was a little busier with the 8pm covers arriving, on top of the party of 12. I hope if they wanted steak they had pre-ordered!

Had a great family meal and in general the food was of a good standard and the staff were very helpful. But the portion sizes were all over the place.Starters - the chicken wings starter was huge, compared to the one slice of toast with a few cut-up mushrooms and a sauce, whereas the calamari was probably about right as was the soup. For the mains, the chicken with a few beans and a sauce was pretty small and why no potato, rice or a fries option? It was almost a carb free zone on the plate. The burger was presented oddly; should have had a small salad in the middle of the long plate, maybe? The ribs meal was almost the size of two meals, a massive plateful!Desserts were about in keeping with most similar establishments. If they chose one size of plate to serve each course on, then broadly filled that plate with food then they would avoid some of this inconsistency. If you are very hungry, just go for chicken wings then ribs - you won't complain!

Great place to have a drink after work or even later. Beers are around $5. You can also have something to eat upstairs.

Thank goodness i decided to stick with the traditional turkey dinner ! everyone else who had ordered other meals from the menu were left hungry as the portion sizes were very disappointing ! The turkey dinner was a little bit of a let down for me as the turkey and the stuffing tasted and looked processed my cheesecake dessert was truly disturbing the texture was so wrong and was like a mousse YUK !!The service was good and the atmosphere was very christmassy ,lovely building from the outside and in a great location but would think again about eating there food not that good !!

Had a team xmas meal and the size of the cod option was about a quarter of the size of the turkey dinners. Way too small to be considered a main course, and was smaller than some of the starters. Service was decent but left feeling a bit cheated.

Don't think I have been that disappointed in a sandwich. You would have thought they would have fresh bread as they serve sandwiches at lunchtime. My Son said his was alright. But to be fair he will eat anything. I had what was meant to be a posh fish finger sandwich. Oily batter with a slither of fish. Will never eat there again.

Had a buffet here for £12.80 per person. The club sandwich 2 slivers of bread, (not sure how they cut so thin) with a piece of chicken the size of a 10 pence piece. 1/4 of a chicken burger. A piece of fish about 6cm long and a vegetarian thing. We had one piece of above per person. A complete rip off. However, the food did taste excellent and the pub itself has a great atmosphere and the staff are all really friendly and helpful. I like the pub but would not book an event there. When I have purchased meals there the food is very good quality and plenty of it.

Although I have never eaten here, I often come here with friends for a drink or two. The bar always has a great atmosphere with many people around. There is often a live singer on the weekends and pub quizzes on Tuesday nights for anyway to join in with. There is outside seating out the front or upstairs where there is another outside seating area. I came her for Christmas Eve last year and had the most amazing fun night. The bar staff are all friendly and you never have to wait long to order you drinks. Their drink selection is good and I look forward to trying their food in the near future. It is located in the middle of the high street so is easy to meet people there for drinks before heading off to the other pubs or bars along the road.

Soon as you walk in you are instantly greeted by the young lady behind the bar, which is a super nice touch. Makes you feel very welcomed, in a town that has a tendency to act a bit snobby. It’s a very clean and nice environment to be in. Nice array of drinks, probably the best selection in Reigate. In fact yes, the best selection in Reigate. Neck Oil was delicious. Food was lovely also, the chips tasted great, tasted like crisp’s almost. The garden is the selling point for this place, it’s a nice big open space with a bar upstairs which is super convenient, when it’s open! Pricey, drinks aren’t cheap….also lack of staff when busy just adds insult to injury. All in all. 7/10. Would recommend for a lunchtime meal/drink. Will be visiting again, probably tomorrow.

Went to a Birthday party here, cost us £20 a head at that price I thought that the food would be rubbish. How wrong was I . Huge portions, well cooked and delicious, was starting to feel full after the starters and was stuffed after the mains and bursting after the sweet. Staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The ribs were huge looked like you got half a pig, chicken wings were large and spicy. Good job all round. I believe we will be back later in the year for another Birthday bash, look forward to it

In my experience most High St pubs tend to be a bit dingy and offer pretty ordinary, or downright awful, food. This is a really pleasing exception.Inside it is light and airy, spread over two floors - three if you count the garden up top - with friendly and welcoming staff and good food that is well-priced.

I organised a surprise 40th party for my wife and reserved upstairs. Charlene & Mark were excellent in helping me organise the night and were extremely helpful. It went so well and Charlene made sure she was on hand when the surprise happened so that my wife didn't see it coming. Went like clockwork! the food was great and they helped with the toast and cake cutting. Ellie or possibly Ella! ( i cant remember) was also fantastic making sure everything went well on the night and kept the drinks flowing! overall a fantastic place to hold a party and I would highly recommend using the Market for a party. Thanks Mark, Charlene & Ellie/Ella!

Very well kept pub, always busy with a good atmosphere and often have bands playing live. There is a good selection of beer and drink but quite expensive even for Reigate (looking at well over £20 for a 4 person round). I always find the bar staff very rude and unhelpful as well as the service being slow. The pub seems too complacent in the fact that dues to its central location it will always be busy and has neglected the customer.

We recently hired the first floor for a corporate event which was a real success. Charlene and Mark were brilliant to work with and very flexible to accommodate our requests. The venue is superb for a private function and offers great food, a private bar and really friendly staff that will look after you. I'd recommend this venue for private parties as it offers great service and value plus a convenient location in Reigate town centre.

If you are going for a drink in the centre of town then you can't fault this place. The food is a tad expensive but overall an average place. Although I am told the real beer is not good.

Visited the Market Stores after dinner elsewhere in Reigate. Downstairs was busy as usual but upstairs was open (often closed for private parties) so ventured up there. Hadn't been upstairs since the renovation and noticed that the bar had been moved to the opposite side of the pub. Where the bar used to be is now a kitchen and so a lot of space has gone. Felt a bit cramped by the bar. Bar staff were friendly and helpful but a round of 4 drinks came to £19 (that included a soft drink). Managed to get a table to sit down. Good atmosphere but perhaps a drinkers pub rather than an eating pub. Will probably return.

I recently hired the upstairs area of The Market Stores for a business event. The staff were excellent and very attentive and the buffet food of a very high standard which was mentioned on several occasions by the attendees. The upstairs really is a lovely venue to hire right in the centre of town. I would highly recommend it which has access to the beautiful outside garden that is also available for hire I believe. I would certainly book the space for another event.

We often spend our lunch hour here ,but today were very unimpressed. when moving downstairs for a drink, we noticed 2 staff chatting around the coffee area while 1 girl was trying to serve the people at the bar on her own!

Second time I have been but this time as a father with 6 of us. The atmosphere is superb and child/baby friendly. Good selection of beers and a good choice of food. I had roast turkey, others had steak, falafel burger, and roast beef. The food was superb and at a decent price. Counter what others have said the staff were superb. Very chatty and helpful and knowledgeable about the wines and food. Will be back again

We booked for their festive menu. The decor is beautiful at Christmas time. So festive. Unfortunately the atmosphere, service and food did not match the decor which was really disappointing. Combined with the meal being average at best, we were also shocked to find that a house bottle of red wine was £30! My son asked for a bread roll with butter and got a slice of toast plus his meal arrived after everyone had finished. Although, in fairness, they did not charge us for his meal as a result. Nor could my daughter eat her butternut soup as it was way too spicy. It’s a lovely venue for a pint but the quality of the food needs to improve a lot before we would ever consider eating there again unfortunately.

We had cravings - for beer and for something sweet. Two pints were duly necked. The warm double chocolate fondant with coffee ice cream definitely hit the spot - possibly the best ever. Staff were good too.

Planning permission was eventually received for conversion of the pub into residential units - and work has now commenced on the car park. A great pity - as this pub has played a large part in the lives of the local Reigate Hill community for many decades, and now has gone forever.

Very disappointed. We were a little late because the road was closed and we had to go a long way to get there, the lady behind the bar was not happy with us even after we apologised. The price of each of our meals was £18 so you expect a good standard. The fish in the fish and chips was very small and overcooked and the peas were barely warm. The fish pie had one king prawn in it and was served with 8 green beans and 2 halves of carrot. The aubergine gratin was burnt and when I asked for another one the waitress said it was supposed to look like that, but when I pointed out that its possible to cook it without burning it she took it away. All in all, it wasn't a nice experience and we certainly won't be going back.
