Market Place in Ashfield

We normally order through just eat and normally excellent but tonight the order was disgusting inedible, on investigation it looks like new owners , chips hard , pies rock hard over microwaved , peas so thick n cold , won’t be ordering again

This restaurant/ take away was one of the best in the are for years a real treat to visit.Sadly the standard has gone ,I purchase a family take away fish and chip meal yesterday which can only be described as pretty awful .

Just had a takeaway from here and it was absolutely disgusting! Chips were like rubber and had been stood for god knows how long, gravy had big lumps in it, pies had been microwaved and drinks were warm, I wouldn’t feed it to my dog! I spent £15 in here on 2 meals and to be honest they should have paid me to have it, Wouldn’t return or recommend to my worst enemy….AVOID

Visited here recently with a work colleague for lunch, opted to dine in the restaurant side as there was ample seating. We both ordered the same meal, 'homemade' steak pie, chips and gravy. What a laugh, the pie was NOT homemade and certainly not nice, the chips were average at best and the gravy was like sludge, only a lot thicker. Neither of us could finish it. Things got a lot worse when the waitress brought our bill over.. WOW..... £17.80 Thanks, but no thanks....

Briefly..only 2 of us in the restaurant..long wait..Tea served in coffee cups..Small portions..Fishcake like carpet..MEAL was STONE COLD !..No one in charge..Staff couldn't care less..Walked out in disgust...So sad ..we've been going in there for years.it was one of Suttons gems..£20 ish is an insult.

Myself and my partner visited the restaurant and ordered large fish chips and peas, pie chips and gravy and 2 teas and the cost of £22.08 was over inflated. The food was substandard and was almost inedible. The fish was almost paper thin not at all meaty, the sole of my slipper is thicker, and it was far from a large. I have seen bigger tadpoles! The pie was so hard and dry it was like it had been reheated and been on the shelf all day, we could not even cut through it despite us both trying. The peas were stone cold in fact the whole meal was disgraceful! The restaurant itself was also disgusting there were unclean tables, there was even crumbs still on our table and we had to wipe our own table before it was fit to eat on, the staff didn't give a damn and looked like they would rather be anywhere other than there. We were waiting an exceptionally long time for our food too. Other people who had come into the restaurant long after us were served first, they were on friendly terms with the staff and obviously got priority over us. This was disgusting as we had clearly been waiting a lot longer than them for the same type of food, so it wasn't as though our order was something that had to be specially cooked that took longer. There is clear favouritism going off in this restaurant as the staff were laughing and joking with these members of the public! We were left feeling disappointed and let down. Is this how restaurants are run nowadays? A complete waste of our money, we also feel ripped off! How they can charge that amount of money for food and service like that is bordering criminal!!!!! If we could have rated zero, we would have done!

Heard reasonable reviews so thought I would try. Only wanted chips, however very disappointed. Chips were brown not golden, very dry thought it was a few crispy ones which I usually like they were 90 percent crispy and dry actually got to thinking they were old chips from earlier in the day or the previous day. Very disappointed

Order came with things missing & had to go back & no apologies from staff . Ordered again and attempted to overcharge by £4. No apologies again . Customer care needed , slow down and get orders right .

Fantastic Fish n Chips etc but OMG! I had a jacket potato with chili con carne on it. I was by far the worst chilli Ive ever tried. looked like cheap water mixed packet curry sauce. cost over £4 too. necver again. I will stick to chip shop fare

Dropped in for lunch and had cod & chips and cod roe & chips. Not too much batter and chips cooked just write.restaurant is a bit rustic but great for a fish & chip restaurant.

Called in to collect some great food from this long established chippy. Open all afternoon catering for your needs while others are shut. Parking is easy now with extra facilities nearby taking the load off. Give these guys another try next time you're in the mood.

Best fish and chips you’ll have without travelling to Whitby. Good service included if you want a sit down lunch. Highly recommended

Sea Fish (Market Place) is even better than before with its extended menu of popular food. We had beautifully cooked cod and chips with peas and gravy and a great cuppa. Very prompt service by very welcoming, friendly and efficient staff with a sense of humour. We love being able to have a thin batter on our fish (request). We were on one hour’s parking nearby and had 30 minutes to spare after our meal so don’t quite understand some of the criticisms on here. Best advice - go and see for yourself!

We come here most Saturdays and every single time we've been (which is many many!) the fish is melt in your mouth delicious. Freshly prepared and worth a wait! We love the refurb too! About time we finally gave it a trip advisor glowing review!
