Fantastic experience and atmosphere. The team were friendly and accommodating and did a good job of serving in a timely manner. One downside was a request for swap from rice to salad and plantain with the vegan meal was missed but that aside greet service. Drinks were enjoyable and the portions generous. As a large family of Jamaican/British and African American heritage we thoroughly enjoyed the meals. Thanks to serving staff; Indiana, Nyemar, Ayaje, Mimi, Elia and management Paul.

Called round for weekend lunch. Took 10 mins to even take a drinks order then another 10 to take food order. After we had sat for an hour with no food arriving, we paid for drinks and left. The restaurant wasn’t that busy and we both ordered the weekend set lunch so should have been easy. Serving staff clearly short handed and untrained but manager could have helped out but clearly felt that was beneath her so she just swanned around looking self-important. Our frustration made worse by people ordering take away getting served before us.

Don’t bother with this place! markethouse used to be one of my favourite places to go for drinks and snacks and a boogie now it’s just a boring eatery without happy hour cocktails and to be honest not much to write about as obviously ownership has changed yet again and it’s lost its appeal! I emailed the place to enquire if they still offered happy hour as I booked a table for drinks and never received a reply??!! Very unprofessional as i traipsed out of my way, I live in Kent, for them to say they don’t anymore!!! Could have saved me and my friends a trip down! Really don’t understand why they didn’t feel the need to respond to my emails? It’s almost like they have hung on to covid times and excused themselves of needing to uphold a minimum form of professional business ethics . Well good bye from us until you bring back the original market house vibe you won’t be getting my money or the many others I know who loved this place before you got rid of the perks it had to offer. What a shame!

Quizás me vuelvo viejo.

... there's absolutely nothing wrong with this trendy pub. However, we booked expecting a bar/restaurant (so i'm writing this review with that in mind).

In fact this was a busy, very loud pub with only sloppy nachos or a basic mezzo plate to start, and burgers as mains. Again, nothing wrong with it – on the contrary, we will be back for a drink – but certainly not the Saturday evening dinner for two I had planned. And the menu did not reflect what is shown on OpenTable. The listing needs updating to honestly show what to expect.

Go out with a bunch of mates and get a bowl of the great chips to soak up a few pints, and you'll have a great evening – just don't expect romance (or real food).

This place has a really lively vibe about it, which was ideal before our Sam Smith show at the O2 Brixton Academy.
Although the variety on the menu was minimal we had a good taster by trying all but one of the sides and l was pleasantly surprised with the twist on the common dishes.
Will be back!

I booked here to meet my best friend who I've not seen since March, last minute, as I was feeling unwell and asked if we could meet somewhere closer to home...that turned out to the huge blessing in disguise!
On entering, the guy who welcomed us knew our booking and showed us to a nice table.
The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable.
I had previously suggested this place for my workplace's Christmas meal, but couldn't attend and received rave reviews...now I know why.
The food was from an independent company called Baba G's and was a superb twist on mixing indian spices with american and english style foods. The meats were cooked to perfection and left both my friend and I salivating! And they did Masala spiced fries to which my friend said to the chef "I would actually KILL for these fries", I' not one for chips, but these were good!
We've been told that there's going to be a new chef /company every month and I think it's a fab idea, if the rest are anything to what Baba G's are to go by...we'll be meeting every month at this rate!

This is a social gathering place, so high octane noise and livliness for a pre-Ritzy meet.
Food is Turkish or Ottoman based with lots of delicious, flavoured meat on the menu but vegetarian mezze options too that seemed popular with other diners.
We had the lamb chops with spicy rice and salad served in a clay tureen which was well cooked, hearty and filling. Having just returned from a trip to Istanbul the day before, this managed to extend the charcoal grilled, aromatic and spiced cullinary ambiance. The food is good value and clearly popular with the young and hungry in SW9. Good value for money too (about eighteen quid with a head with drinks) so no wonder it was packed.

I have eaten at Tim Anderson's pop-up restaurant in Kings Road SW1 and found the whole experience delightful. For this reason I chose to visit the pop up at Market House last weekend with two friends. The welcome and service was good but unfortunately the food - from a menu with very few choices - was very disappointing.
Huge portions of noodles and very little else. I had a chicken dish in which the chicken made a very small appearance. There were far too many noodles and the whole thing, at £11.00, was overpriced. My friends complained of a lack of variety in the dishes they had ordered. A rather unhappy experience - particularly after having enjoyed the Kings Road pop up so much.

A busy atmospheric venue was the perfect backdrop for a month long pop up hosted by ex master chef winner Tim Anderson. The food was fantastic and stunning value, added to that the venue was atmospheric, had some great beers and wine, and the table staff were knowledgeable about the food, and generally enthusiastic and helpful. All in all an excellent evening all round, we went for Tim Anderson's food, but would definitely go to the Market House for similar events.

It was okay.
Arrived and sat at our booked table and weren't noticed for a while. The kitchen then got too busy to take orders, we didn't find this out until after 30 min of trying to get attention. Would have been much better to be told rather than running past desperately avoiding eye contact for half an hour! It was busy, we understood but communication is much better service. Service was very friendly but frustrating at times.
Given the Chef (MasterChef winner), food was disappointing. Good snacky stuff and ice cream but the udon soup (didn't use udon), not so good. You can find much better in Soho. We ordered two soups both mains at £11, very different sizes?! Oh well - fried chicken and Pressure Drop beer was great :)

We went to Market House because Tim from Masterchef had a guest residency there. We were sat right opposite the kitchen & got to talk to him which was awesome!! I love the idea of having pop up chefs in there & can't wait to see who they get in next. Cocktails were nice & service was friendly & attentive. Ultimately it's a high end pub grub kinda scene rather than a restaurant. We enjoyed it.

We visited the Nan Ban pop up and were extremely impressed with the food. A word of warning though, the house Ramen is VERY spicy which should be flagged more on the menu. I like spicy food, but I had to send mine back and ask for the alternative meat ramen as my mouth felt like it was burning.

However, the Pork Belly ramen was sensational, and I can't praise highly enough the chicken side - melt in the mouth. I might have to try to get back there before it closes! The restaurant only charged for one ramen which I was very happy with.

The service felt a little scattered, manic and brisk. It let down the excellent food we enjoyed.

Visited with my son for the month-long residency in the kitchen of Masterchef winner Tim Anderson. His Japanese food was astoundingly good. Nothing pretentious - just tastes so good that, like many other tables, we ordered second helpings of pretty much everything.Added to excellent cocktails and fabulously friendly service, this was a great evening. Go before Tim leaves at the end of August!

Came here for lunch at the w/e with a few friends. It's a nice boozer; not too busy but enough folk to give it a bit of atmosphere. Service was good but food, well, it was amazing. Had Miss P's brisket and beans. Good price and excellent taste. You could make this at home whenever you have 12 hours to spare! Go and visit whilst it's there. I'll try to return before it goes....

Great roast, great atmosphere, great time.We normally go to the Market House bar for a drink and a boogie on a Friday night, this was the first time we had visited during the day or for food. The four of us ordered calamari and king prawn to share and roast dinner for mains. The calamari was perfect, not chewy with nice crunchy batter. The king prawns were fantastic, well seasoned, tasty my only complaint being that I had to remove the head etc (i hate getting my fingers messy) The chicken and beef roast dinners were great. We asked for more cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes which was no problem for the chef to do for us. Great food, great price, great fun!

My friends and I went to Market house bar two Saturday's ago. We were standing in a corridor talking and when we didn't move out in time, 4 bouncers manhandled one of my friends and I. One bouncer picked me up from behind, under my arms and another grabbed my ankles. I screamed and shouted in fear. They carried me up approximately 6/7 steps to the side door. They dropped me on the ground, opened the side door and picked me up again. They threw me out onto the middle of the road. When I stood up, one bouncer came for me and slapped me across the face and knocked me to the ground with force. The manager came out, and claimed his men (aka bouncers) only use correct force and suitably handle situations. He never denied they manhandled two women nor did he deny one physically hit me across the face. He also did not try to calm to situation or check on the two women (my friend and I)lying injured on the road. He and bouncers went back inside immediately. Repeating this story makes me sick but it needs to be told. We called the police on the night and conveniently the side CCTV camera didn't work. The police are currently chasing up on this but things like this take time. I would recommend nobody to ever go here. For a short tempered bouncer to lose control and hit and throw a woman is bad enough to deal with. To know this establishment is managed by a man who condones this behaviour, speaks louder as to the type of bar this is.

You can't expect that much from a hostel for ~23 NZD. Location is great - parking spaces are a bit rare. The 4-bed room is simply furnished, typical of a hostel, and the bathroom is a bit old, but for $23, not even two beers a night, you can't criticize it. The cuisine, however, varies from “interesting” on good days to “almost health-endangering” on less good days. I haven't seen good days in the kitchen. In the fully equipped kitchen, pots and pans sit on the stove unwashed for days and dishes pile up next to and in the sinks. If you don't mind this, you can look forward to inexpensive nights in a good location near the harbor.
