Nice food, good service, but very little choice and quite pricey, also the decor is dreadful don't know what the management are thinking about but it resembles a school or factory canteen more than a restaurant.

OK I post alot on here try not to if negative but the mother in law chose this place for her birthday after a recommendation from her friend, however this was my personal opinion, for the money it was not great 17 pp yes a glass of prosseco but the rest was mediocre at best nothing hot came with it chips soup quice a sausage roll, just 4 small finger sandwich and some cakes, ordered chips at £3.50 extra go 8-10 chips in a small cup, when I arrived there was a table of 5 ordered drinks seemed 2 persons was serving them waited 5-10 mins then gave up, didn't get plates with our food so used the plate that was with the Plastic Beaker to use for our tea and coffee I mean who drinks tea from a handle less plastic cup, all in all £75 for 2 chips and a pityful amount of food, I really did begrudgingly pay it, was not impressed nor happy #note picture is a tray that's for 2 people for £34 pounds,

We stayed overnight on a bed, breakfast and 3 course evening meal deal. I don’t really get why people would complain about staff not wearing a uniform they were all dressed appropriately and wasn’t a problem for us at all. They were all very attentive and nothing too much trouble. Evening meal was all lovely we both had soup to start, followed by the best steak we have had for a good few years and dessert. Breakfast the next morning was all excellent. Can’t wait to return

My elderly mum took me for afternoon tea as a birthday treat, drinks were served in plastic cups (ok 'sustainable' cups - they looked a bit like something you would have in prison)so we asked for proper cups as mum needs a cup with a handle, we were told the hotel did not have any so we pointed out the people walking through from the conference who obviously were not too bothered about saving the planet as they had proper cups. Eventually a waitress went off to 'sneak' us in 2 cups! service really was a shambles, mum had rang and booked us in for afternoon tea the place was virtually empty but the staff seemed unsure why we were there so after being seated and given a drink we sat and waited......and waited, almost 40mins for our not very fresh food to arrive. I know no one knew we didnt like salmon (as they didnt care to ask) so we each got a salmon sandwich so there was only 3 other slices we could eat which were all on the stale side too, so was my scone and when I did flag someone down to ask for butter - it was rock hard!! My poor mum has been really upset about this, due to a brain injury she cant ring up and explain for herself very well nor can she write a letter which has made her feel worse as this was a birthday treat for me

Stayed at this hotel for two nights and dinner was included in the package. Set menu with a variety of choices on each night. Food was well presented and very tasty. Not sure about previous comments about the restaurant staff's 'uniform'. I found their modern look fine - suited their young age group. All of the serving staff were young, helpful and engaging. Food good and service good!

I’ve been going visiting the brasserie restaurant over a couple of years and I have to say since the change from Ramada to Bliss hotel it has gone down rapidly. As we sat down the waitress came over to take our order and was dressed in jeans with a casual top and stood with her hands in her pinafore while we ordered our food, I find this unacceptable in a 4 star hotel rather than a local pub. The starters came which were acceptable the main courses arrived and were over cooked with very little presentation,my friend and I had smoked haddock it was dry and hard, the same for the potatoes served with a few mange tout and 1 carrot her husbands meal of roast beef was very mediocre. The previous occasion we were there we had cause to complain the staff were very nice about it so we decided to give them another chance, sadly I doubt we will be going back after this experience. The entire afternoon with drinks and coffee was around £100 Southport has many restaurants that are offering better food and service for less. This hotel really needs to up their game if they want to continue the reputation that the Ramada once had, we were the only three people in the restaurant which makes me think they have already started to lose custom. Extremely disappointed.

We had dinner twice in the Marine Brasserie as part of a two night dinner, bed and breakfast stay at the Bliss Hotel. The menu included in this stay was a three-course prix fixe menu consisting of a limited selection from the a la carte menu. The normal price of this menu is £24.95, which is very good value for a dinner menu for the standard of food served. The first night my wife had carrot and coriander soup to start, whilst I had chicken, pancetta and hazelnut terrine. For main course I had sea bass whilst my wife had roasted chicken supreme. For dessert my wife had blueberry pannacotta whilst I had a trio of ice creams, chocolate, strawberry and mango and passion fruit. The second night my wife had pea and mint soup for starters whilst I had crushed salmon which was flakes of salmon that I think had been hot smoked. For main course I had crayfish linguine whilst my wife had duck breast served with dauphinoise potatoes and chicory. For dessert I had chocolate mousse and my wife had Cambridge burnt cream (crème brûlée). The first night we drank a bottle of Sauvignon-Vermentino which we liked so much that we ordered the same wine on the second night. The standard of the food on both nights was excellent and we couldn't find fault with it. The service was friendly but seemed a little disorganised. For example when we were shown to our seats the waitress brought the menus with her but not the wine list, nor did she ask if we wanted to see the wine list, so when I asked to see the wine list she had to go back to the desk and fetch it. We asked for the wine to be served with the main course but it didn't appear with the food so I had to ask for it again and we were well into our main courses before it arrived. The way they totalled the bill was a bit odd as they put on an amount for each course then deducted the same amount as "DBB", so that the final bill was only the drinks. However on the second night they forgot to deduct the desserts so they had to redo the bill.

For my mother’s 80th birthday we organised an afternoon tea for 19 family members. 9 gentleman’s teas and 10 classic afternoon teas. The venue was lovely on a beautiful day, however the food was very disappointing. The gentleman’s tea consisted of 1 small pork pie, 1 small burger in bun, a small dish of monkey nuts, pork scratchings and some tiny Gerkins + 1 pint of Carlsberg lager, not the locally-brewed ale. Who in the 21st century has pork scratchings as part of a meal costing £16, which was not as advertised. The classic afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches & cake, but was insufficient for 10 ladies, who are not the biggest eaters, costing £13 per head. The service was slow & required prompting for drinks, including a teabag in the coffee pot and having to ask for milk! We had to order additional portions of fries to make the meal substantial enough. Having booked well in advance, we expected better service and for both types of afternoon teas to at least meet the advertised package - which didn’t’live up to expectations & marred the birthday celebration. We understand the hotel is under new management and hope will take on board this constructive review, and be rectified in future, otherwise we would not recommend the afternoon tea experience in its current format.

Went here for lunch with my aunt who had been through a bad experience. It was a gorgeous day weather wise. So it was her treat. 1/ we ordered a drink change never came. We were gong to leave as a tip but weren’t given the chance ! 2/ ordered spicy French fries They came like the top had fell off the spice jar! I sent them back ! 3/ lifted the top off the bun from the chicken burger can only discribe it as being nothing short of Creamated! We left. I emailed the hotel telling them. I got a reply from the deputy manager explaining everything an sent them the pic. Her an the chef told me they were embarrassed that the food should never have left the kitchen an couldn’t apologise enough. The deputy manager was emailing me back an forth an we made arrangements to go back an have a complimentary meal as away of an apology An rectify the bad experience. I was told they had reserved a table out side an inside it was our choice and that she would not be there but they was expecting us. On arrival I went to the young waiter an told him we were there. I explained to him about the DM an he knew nothing about it. He went to manager that was on an the chef an no one knew anything about it. It was totally embarrassing as people could hear. I showed him the emails Back an forth from the deputy an myself. There was no tables reserved. I found a table while they sorted it out. I would have rather just left. But the waiter JJ was adamant he would sort it an too wait. We waited. After what was a while JJ took the order. Other people were asking me what was wrong totally embarrassing! We just had our meal an left. J J. Was a lovely lad an I could tell he was as much embarrassed as we were he made the best of a bad situation. He looked after us an was very professional. A credit to his employers. I emailed the Deputy Manager how we had made arrangement date time etc only to go an know one knew anything, that she hadn’t communicated The arrangements we made to her staff an told her that no one knew anything least if all expecting us. Really bad for a DEPUTY MANAGER. needless to say I never got a reply. A bad experience to say the least. Shame as the hotel is lovely the position of hotel is fab. I spoke to people staying there an they loved it.

We had a brilliant meal here (again). Fabulous lunch deal with best views of Southport. Children's menu is impressive in size and choice. All adults ate from set course lunch menu. Everything from terrines, to risotto was well prepared and generous. We were a family of 11 with age range from 5 to 75. Service was impeccable. Children were welcomed and even given a free teddy bear for completing the children's menu challenge. Good range of drinks and a perfect way to finish a meal was wine and coffee on the terrace enjoying the best of the seaside weather.

Had a disappointing lunch with a visiting friend. Ordered sandwiches at £8.50 a go. They took half an hour despite not being busy. The BLT was bacon and sad salad between two slices of toasted white bread and the Fishfinger sandwich arrived as another BLT so went back. Another 20 minutes produced pieces of fried cod between two slices of white bread. Chips were on the verge of uncooked. The staff were friendly but ineffectual in speeding up the order and even two pints took 15 mins to arrive. Shame because it seems a nice hotel and my friend was planning to book three rooms for three nights next year when attending a wedding but on the basis of this experience decided to go elsewhere.

I went here with my mother and two of her friends, one of whom is in a wheelchair.Firstly, it needs to be said that the Ramada is one of the only places that is completely wheelchair accessible. Parking below, no steps to negotiate on the way to the lift and the lift takes you straight up to restaurant level and again no negotiational problems. So a big thumbs up!However, we were seated at the far end of the restaurant (didn't know this as we entered the restaurant obviously) and ended up having to push the wheelchair with some force over the whole length of the carpeted area and move chairs when we could have gone straight down the side across the tiled area. What I am basically saying is that the young lady who led us to our table should either have had the common sense to take us around the carpeted area, or failing this all restaurant staff should have training in this area as the extra bit of thought makes a big difference to the disabled and their carers. She should also have moved chairs herself if she insisted on taking us over the carpet with the wheelchair rather than let the customers do this, as a point of providing excellent customer service. On to the food. Two of us had chunky vegetable soup, which was thin and watery and very average.Mother had wrapped Parma ham which was very dry, I can't remember the other started but it was enjoyable. Two of us had risotto. I liked mine although it was served lukewarm (yuk!) and ate it all. My mum didn't like hers and left most of it...so just a matter of taste really. The others had salmon and pie which they both said was fine but not brilliant!Staff all pleasant and friendly and service good upon this occasion.

Breakfast is your average hotel fare with tough bacon and overcooked eggs. I recommend ordering from the à la carte menu at no extra cost to get freshly cooked food. The dinner menu was ok but the food wasn't. I found that ordering two entrees was the better option. Also on a few occasions dinner was spoiled by having noisy wedding receptions in a room leading off the dining room and having small children unsupervised and running riot between the tables. After three such occasions I resorted to using room service or eating out. I would also recommend that management try having breakfast here on occasion.

Had afternoon tea here yesterday. The staff were friendly enough but the service was pretty poor! Usually with afternoon tea you have a choice of tea, and this is regularly topped up throughout. We had to ask every time we wanted more. The best bit of the afternoon tea was the scones, but these came with hardly any jam or cream and we had to ask for extra. The cakes were bland and all tasted very similar , they hue came in a variety of colours!! All in all we were disappointed, and when we left thought we wouldn't go back again. To top it all off my husband received a phone call to say we hadn't paid!!! When u rang back I was told "sorry, that was a mistake we were about to call you back!" Booked a week in advance, arrived to the restaurant, no booking found, this was not an issue as the place was dead. The restaurant did not look like it had seen a vacuum in ages. We ordered the food with the manager which was fine,we ordered off the Brasserie menu.Starters served were not as advertised, when questioned, the staff told me that they had run out of what we wanted, so they served something off the fixed menu! We had the shrimps and terrine, both were OK ish I had the duck for my main course, which was the toughest piece of duck I have ever eaten. The vegetables appeared to be leftovers from the wedding which had taken place that afternoon. For dessert, we had a warm brownie, which was cold and the cheesecake, which was old and the crisp biscuit base was soggy, the fluffy mousse was dense and dry. The restaurant itself was dull and had no atmosphere, the staff were friendly though and Kirsty was very good, however, the rest of the team could do with some more training. We were not expecting too much, however, we were disappointed. We did speak to the manager again at the end of the evening and he removed all the food charges off the bill

The table d'hote menu had no price on, so again to had to ask as no-one seemed to know and took ages to come to advise us. Overall, gave us impression under-staffed and lack of co-ordination.

After visiting for afternoon tea with friends, we were left a little disappointed, not with the food but due to one member of staff. Her name was 'Maria'. She was more interested in speaking to her friends on the next table for 25 minutes than actually serving our drinks which were sitting waiting on the bar. I had asked her once already and when I asked again she was blunt and rude with me before muttering something in Polish. She made us feel like we were an inconvenience to her. I would have asked someone else but every other member of staff seemed to have all disappeared off together. It then took her a while to serve our food, the table next to us were seen straight away and all we could hear for several minutes afterwards was (presumingly) the chef shouting 'service' from the kitchen whilst she carried on chatting. The food was lovely and the restaurant is great but Maria needs to learn some manners! We will be back very soon as we enjoyed it but will avoid at all costs if she appears to be on shift.

I'm writing this review as a Ramada Plaza visitor on a dinner, bed & breakfast deal. I think that's important to keep in mind, because anything I'll mention that could do with a bit of improvement was not a big issue for us because of the great deal we had. I may have perceived those things differently had we been paying the full price. Our deal included a three course dinner on four evenings from a set menu. As far as I can remember on our previous visits the set menu didn't always change from day to day, but this time the menu was constantly changing. This was obviously great news for us, as we were able to pick different courses every day. There was plenty of choice anyway, with 5 (or was it 6?) different starters, mains and deserts to choose from. Plus, we could also have picked items from the main menu, up to a certain value. As on previous visits, the food was just really nice. I had been looking forward to this part of our break in Southport and as far as I was concerned dinner was once again the highlight of the day. The food was always very nicely presented and very tasty indeed. I remember on our last visit I didn't always manage desert after a starter and main, but this time the portion sizes suited me much better and I was able to enjoy all three courses. Me and my sweet tooth were very pleased! The staff were also all very friendly and helpful. As part of our package we also had buffet style breakfast in the restaurant. While this wasn't as special as the evening meals, it suited us very well as were were all able to pick and choose whatever we fancied that morning. With regards to the evening meals, there are some areas that need some improvement. Service seemed to be better organised when a more mature member of staff was on duty. Some evenings it all felt bit random, with sometimes too much time in between courses. Most staff were very young, which is fine, but it felt like some of them needed a bit more guidance than others (Don't refer to your customers as 'guys' please; we're not in a fast food restaurant here! And please don't stand around playing with your hair in between serving food... not very nice). As far as the food itself was concerned, 90% was great, but sometimes we were surprised by part of a dish which seemed to contain no seasoning whatsoever, or a hot course served on a cold plate. Minor issues though and I'd be more that happy to eat here again on a next stay.

The first night Pan fired Chicken was ordered, when the meal came the chicken was like rubber, very dry, looked as though it had been standing for a while on a hot plate. The third night, Steak and Ale pie was ordered, when it came, it looked lovely, but when you got into the pie filling it was very salty, so salty that it could not be eaten and was sent back. My wife and I stayed at the Ramada Southport. The room itself and the hotel in general was OK (although the raised 'old-modern' ceramic sinks in the bathroom were extremely inconvenient) and by-and-large the staff were pleasant and helpful (especially on the Reception Desk) although house-keeping doesn't seem to understand its own 'do not disturb' signs. However, the Hotel's restaurant was major low spot. Called the Marine Brassiere we were expecting some very good seafood but the Monkfish 'scampi' and deep-fried cod would have been a disappointment even had it been purchased in a take-away fish-and-chip shop. The English Breakfast was also a let down with sawdust-in-skins passing as sausages (at least that is what they tasted like); bacon of the tough salty kind sold in big cheap refridgerated packs in down market foodstores; and weak coffee. All on top of the disappointment of Southport: heralded as a jewel of Victorian architecture, Lord Street and its environment is seedy and decaying with little to compare to the elegance of Paris and its restaurant and cafe culture.

I dined here as a guest of someone staying at the Ramada. Whilst the restaurant was smart and the atmosphere was welcoming the food and service was very much not up to standard. My wife ordered duck for her main course only to be told at least 20 minutes later that there was no duck available as a delivery had not been received. This information had clearly not been communicated by the chef to the waiting staff. The other two of us ordered Mushroom Stroganoff which when it came had a large number of gherkins, straight from the pickle jar, just dumped into the stroganoff. It made the dish inedible and quite disgusting. My friend who had invited us was embarrassed by the whole evening. The only plus point was that the company was good.

Not a bad meal but I was expecting better. Situated on the first floor the resturant is accessible by lift or stairs. Decent access for wheelchairs. The menu's (of which there are two) is a little limited considering the size of the place with nothing really exiting. Surf and turf was about as exotic as it gets. I had ceaser salad to start which was nice and fresh but the croutons were just cheap white sliced bread very lightly fried and chopped into pieces. Main I had a plain burger, and I do mean plain. Not succulent , didn't even look home made. It was ok but really nothing special. The Resturaunt is quite nice with a decent size bar. Only thing lets it down is the standard of the food, not bad but nothing special. A fairly good selection of wines and beers as well as cocktails. On the other hand it was quite good value for money with the bill for three people was less than £100 including several drinks. Service was very good and staff were friendly and attentive. No complaints about the food but I'm in no rush to return but it was good value for money.

Visited for afternoon tea, was disappointed especially after reading other reviews.Sandwiches were ok, get a reasonable choice and the scones were fresh served with cream and a pot of jam. The mini cakes lacked lustre and were drizzled with bitter raspberry coulis whuch was off putting.Staff are friendly and coffee was plentiful. The reataurant floor could have done with a good hoover ... A little off putting to he treading on last night's spilled chips!

I came to eat at this great restaurant tonight with a disabled friend.I knew the lift was smooth and easy to use so would be no problem for my disabled friend who has difficulty walking.I knew the restaurant was on the first floor so we would only need to go up one floor in the lift.Once on the first floor all the ground is level including access to the toilets. We both had potted shrimps and toast for a starter which was lovely. Then my friend has 3 types of sausages and mash and I had the fish and chips. For dessert we had the cheeseboard and the creme brulee washed down with coffee. The quality of the fish was lovely it was shaped in a very generous square shape lightly covered in batter,a pot of lovely mushy peas,a pot of lovely creamy tartare sauce and 6 big square chips!my friends was a generous portion of creamy mash with 3 different sausages all lovely and none greasy. The creme brulee was really nice and the cheeseboard was really large and nice and well enough for two.The atmosphere in the restaurant was really relaxed as usual and the food tasted great! A member of staff named Rob was once again very attentive, friendly and professional. We look forward to returning very soon.

Decided to try the £30 meal deal for two whilst staying her with my partner.Best decision ever. The food is wonderful.I had the garlic mushrooms and my partner the black pudding scotch egg. Both were perfect and very tasty.I had the lamb hot pot which was stunning, and my partner paid extra for the surf and turf which she said was gorgeous.Didn't even think about pudding as we were both stuffed. This is fantastic value for money at £30 for two and a bottle of wine.Would also mention all the staff there at the restaurant who were lovely and very helpful. You just can't go wrong at that price and with the food amazing it is even better value for money.Looking forward to our next visit.

Whilst not a huge menu to choose from, the choice was quite varied with dishes you wouldn't normally see. My husband had a black pudding scotch egg for starters and he said it was delicious. I had the soup which was served in a small cast iron pot. We had a fish and chicken dish for main, each done slightly different from the norm and again, delicious. All in all, we can't fault this restaurant. Whilst the majority on the menu is not what we would immediately choose, when we have taken a risk and chosen something a little different, we have not been disappointed.

We went for lunch on a Saturday. Since the weather was nice we asked on arrival if we can sit outside. The waiter balked - "but it's a different menu!" and looked at us blankly. We asked to see the other menu, but he just repeated the comment, so we sat down near the window looking outside at the other happy people in the sun. We ordered drinks and looked over the two menus we were given, but eventually noticed that outside another couple had a third menu with some seafood specials. my husband and i asked the waiter if there was a different menu for the outside guests, and if we might see it. the waiter responded "don't worry, we're not hiding anything". we were very perplexed by this point, and still wanted to sit outside. we asked another waitress and she remarked that it might be the sandwich menu, which would mean there are potentially 4 (?) menus, of which we only saw 2! we asked again if we could sit outside, and this second waitress said yes. we made our way outside. after all that fuss and confusion, i had an excellent lamb hotpot, chosen from the first menu. my husband liked his sausage and chips even though the chips were, in his words, "odd". In short, the food is great, but the staff really do need more training as they can be a bit off putting.

There was a £30 special which was excellent value. We ordered different dishes from the 3 course menu and both found every dish delicious. I picked the potted shrimps which were wonderful and the Lancashire hot pot which was the best I have ever had. Considering the fact that I am a Lancashire lass that is praise indeed. The meat and gravy were delicious and the potatoes were crispy and very tasty. The service was not too fast or slow, friendly and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a family meal here and while the food was nice we felt it was really overpriced in terms of quality & flavour . The actual restaurant setting is lovely and the staff where spot on - really friendly . There was a wedding on and the function room door opens into the restaurant which as you can imagine having a meal and hearing really overly loud music every-time the door opens is a little off putting . Worth a try especially if you are actually staying in the hotel .

My partner and I decided to book a table here. We were reluctant at first with the brasserie being part of a hotel. But my partner wanted to see water!!Booking was straight forward and the service friendly and professional. There was a choice of a la cart or a specials menu. Both serving sophisticated or traditional dishes. I went for the potted shrimps and the chicken wrapped in parma ham, both were excellent, and the portions were just right. For those who enjoy wine there is also a good selection. My partner...sorry... we chose the rose. Which was actually very nice. But I'd always choose red given the choice. But most importantly.... my partner was able to see water!!Would recommend to anyone. Price reasonable too. If I was to find fault, all I would say is. The down stairs entrance is rather uninviting, and could do with some inspiration.

Stayed at the Ramada Hotel on a package which included meals. Because of equipment issues in the kitchen a limited menu was available. Waiting staff in this restaurant are excellent giving a friendly effective service. Everyone had a smile on their face. The food on the first night was very disappointing and I returned the risotto that I ordered which was full of congealed lumps of rice. The chef apologised but the dish should never have been sent out. I was apprehensive on the second night but I have to say that the meal I had especially the filet steak was very good. It was the same chef who was in charge!! The Ramada is a good hotel and it is a pity that my first visit to the marine brassiere was so poor. If I had not been on a 2 night stay I may not have returned.

We enjoyed our lunch and it is good value to dine in a very nice restaurant but exceptionally good value for us as we only had to pay for one meal as we used our Hi-Life Dining Card. It is £9.95 for two courses and £11.95 for three courses. I had a prawn and crayfish cocktail with a very generous helping of seafood followed by salmon, potatoes and green beans and then a chocolate truffle cake with mango and orange ice-cream (daren't think how many calories in that!). My husband had garlic mushrooms but the chunks of bread served with it were very hard, but we had been served with a nice crisp roll as well. He had the salmon and apple crumble with custard.

We booked the pre-theatre meal here before going to Southport Theatre MISTAKE !We checked the price £9.95 when booking,on arrival and again when ordering. The choice was limited but we picked the mushroom starter and chicken main. 4 diners but 50% of the starters were inedible as it was smothered in balsamic vinegar. Mains 75% inedible as the 3 chicken breasts were not cooked and mine still had blood by the joint. We complained but the staff just argued---- have they heard of customer service? Then we got the bill and had been overcharged by £24 an extra £6 per head - of course we queried it but yes they argued again !! My advice is avoid this restaurant at the Ramada Plaza at all costs. Use the other restaurants the Theatre recommend

We enjoyed two evening meals and three breakfasts at the Marine Brasserie, while staying at the Ramada Southport. We picked dishes of the fixed menu, as this was included in our stay. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food; as this restaurant is part of a business that specialises in renting out rooms, I didn’t really expect them to do nice food and didn’t have high expectations! The dishes were very nice though and I was also pleasantly surprised that on the second night (which was a Monday), the set menu was completely different from the day before. The buffet style breakfast was also good, with a great choice of cooked breakfast items, cereals, pastries, fruit, etc. Staff was very efficient in clearing the tables of used crockery etc. If I had to say anything negative then the only thing I can think of is that staff members did not seem very observant and didn’t recognise us at all as customers who had been in the restaurant before.

A party of 4 we were looking forward to steak on the menu. The restaurant looked top class and staff were very attentive, however the steaks we ordered as medium rare came out tough as old boots. The chief clearly didn't know he to cook a fillet steak. It ruined the whole meal.

Visited for Sunday lunch using a tastecard, it was an excellent choice. We each had 3 courses all of us choosing roast beef for our main course. Generous portion of meat and nice veggies , extra gravy was brought on request. Service good and professional but not stuffy . Was an excellent bargain with the tastecard and would use it again without hesitation.

I rarely leave negative reviews but this place deserved one more than any other that I have written. We arrived on Sunday evening about 6.30pm on 05/08/12. When we arrived nobody else was seated in the restaurant. There were a few people on the balcony having drinks because it was a lovely sunny evening. After about five minutes waiting at the 'please wait to be seated' sign, a young man came up and asked us if we would like a seat. We infomed him that we would like a table for two, and that we would like to sit outside on the balcony given the lovely weather. He appeared reluctant to accommodate this request, initially asking us to take seats by the door to the balcony, on the inside. We again gently expressed a preference for outside seating, indicating that it was a lovelty evening. He again appeared reluctant but asked us to sit by the balcony door on the outside. We asked why we had to sit in these specific seats given that the balcony only had a few guests and 85% of the tables were free. He replied, that if we sit further down (away from the door) then "the staff would have to carry the food further and that it was a bit of a hassle". A bit shocked by the response we took the menus handed to us and sat just outside the balcony door. We sat outside for about 10 minutes and noticed more guests had arrived inside and their orders were being taken. At this point I went inside to find a member of staff to take our order - menu in hand. I had to go again to the 'wait to be seated' sign, and wait to be approached. After an additional 5 minutes a female member of staff asked if she could help. I indicated that we were sitting outside by the door and wanted to place an order.Unbelievably she told me that they do not serve food outside, that I could not order from the menu we had been given (it finished 4 hours earlier), BUT that she would make an exception this time and take our order from the newly presented menu. I walked outside, new menu in hand, and left it on the table for the next soon-to-be-disappointed guest. We ate next door at Fino's where the service was superb. Don't waste your time with the Marine Brasserie.

I attended a Mowtown Evening last Saturday and whilst the live music was okay the food was poor. The worst was the pudding which was supposed to be a cherry chocolate brownie but was more like brown cement! It was rock hard and many people left their fork sticking upright to show the chef its solid consistency! When I complained to the manager he told me me he'd eaten it and it was okay. Clearly, he has little regard for customer views. Well, I hope he reads this and takes notice now!

Me and my partner visited the Ramada last Saturday Evening to try the much spoke about Marine Brasserie restaurant. We were recommended by some friends who had been for to celebrate their daughters birthday the feedback from them was good advising me that even though they were a large party the food and service combined was sensational nothing to much trouble for the well trained and polite staff. We booked in advance as sometimes it can be a little strange walking into a hotel when only using the restaurant facilities, we found this to be no problem and where warmly welcomed. when we arrived the bar area was bustling and chatty we where asked whether we would like to take a seat in the lounge or go into the restaurant, we opted for a drink in the lounge first. We were presented with the daily menu the Al a Carte, and the extensive wine list, we took advantage of the great offer for a glass of GH Mumm Champagne for £7.50 recommended by the bar man John, nice start to the evening!!!We were taken through to the restaurant and sat at a beautiful table in the window looking out towards the illuminated bridge and water, We ordered from the reasonably priced Al a Carte menu- my partner had The Potted Shrimps followed by Rump of lamb cooked perfectly to her liking and I had the Duck Spring roll (obviously made in house as the presentation was rugged yet fresh and tasted brilliant) followed by the Fillet Steak cooked Rare and perfectly with a side of home cooked onion rings.... we also ordered a bottle of the Pinot Grigio Blush nicely chilled and tasted fresh. We Opted to pass on dessert but the options where very tempting. The service was fantastic yet not intrusive and the Restaurant Supervisor was polite and questioning as to how our experience had been explaining that for him customer feedback was a massive part of the progression for the restaurant he also had a chat to us about the restaurant going forward explaining that new menus where being introduced to help the restaurant progress and improve, a very valuable individual to this hotel as he found information from us without being annoying. Our bill came to £70 excluding tip, I do express my gratitude to the staff for making our evening so enjoyable and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Overall it's too expensive and quality isn't anywhere near as good as local individually owned competitors. Food over priced and standard quality. Better quality food in IKEA and less than half the price. Service was good. Professional and friendly. Atmosphere is the same as any chin coffee shop. People taking laptops and pretending to be in meetings.

Visited this cafe a couple of years back and the food was really good, value for money and the place was clean and well run. To say my lunchtime experience today was different is an understatement. There were lots of tables that had not been cleared it cleaned. I felt sorry for the two young girls who were trying hard to take orders and keep things ticking over. At least 3 tables walked out whilst we were waiting to order. I had a tuna mayonnaise sandwich with cucumber, the cucumber was extra. When the sandwich came it was clearly on value brown bread, a tiny bit of side salad and a teaspoon of coleslaw for £7..95 is not value for money in my eyes! The coffee was good but that was the only positive. Such a shame as this used to be a nice place.
