Costa Coffee in Sefton

Had two cups of flat white coffee. Tasted more like lattes. Mostly milk. A complete rip-off for £3.80. Will not return. Understaffed too. Waited ages for a worse than mediocre flat white.

Fine as always, their Chicken & Bacon sandwiches are fantastic. They've had a refresh and are better than before

I usually use this franchise but had a bad experience last Friday. My husband and had a latte which was very watery and not very warm after experiencing my app would not work in their machine. After finishing coffee proceeded to a very dirty toilet and wet seat which I did not use. Customer before warned me. Also dishes on table I had to remove before sitting down. Very disappointed as usually OK.

Orderd then kicked out because we have a dog even though there are other dogs in there we where told it was the managers decision so wont be going again

The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and make the best coffees. They are helpful in every way and always listen. Shop is clean.

Drinks wasn't hot and refused to heat my drink

Enjoyed this Costa numerous times in the past but most recent visit is cause for concern. I notice down the reviews hygiene is a common conplaint and today was worryingly another example, Third party handling of food by a customer offered by staff because they are regular customers and aquaintences of the staff then handed to the waiting customer, so in short people who don't work in Costa handling customers food! Not the way at all and tardy beyond belief!

This staff member obviously has zero barista knowledge or experience! Look at the amount of bubbles in the cup and that’s after she banged it on the counter top, she wasn’t even looking at the milk she was steaming! That’s more bubbles than the stupid automated costa machine in supermarkets makes! I thought Costa meant a decent standard but maybe I was wrong. It seems they don’t even train their staff after all! An absolutely disgusting way to start the day.. what a waste of money! This kind of cup should not even cost 50p at most! How embarrassing!

I ordered a coffee and some jammy shortbreads. All served with a laugh and a smile. Friendly and happy staff. Restaurant nice and clean. Will definitely use this Costa again!

As always a good cup of coffee and a good cake.

The panini was missing so paid 17 quid for a coffe and a pack of biscuits

Very good costa to visit does get busy

Awful yet again!!!! Missing items that have been paid for!!!!!! And yet again JUST EAT fails to refund called Costa and they state can’t cancel orders when they don’t have stock for orders so they send order with items missing… just eat take your money and you don’t get what you paid for !!! It’s a dodgy racket!!!!

One food item was missing, toasties were cold, choc frappe had too much syrup (undrinkable) and salted caramel latte had cream when none requested. First time we've had a problem here, usually all good.

The spinach was dried and old on my bap.

Friendly staff and great coffee. The food though I think is overpriced, I shouldn't really be paying £4+ for a prepackaged toastie.

A branch of the coffee chain in Southport where the staff were very friendly in the middle of Lord St which was quiet when I visited on a miserable day The street has lots of empty shops and charity shops and is sadly in decline like many others

We called in one morning for a quick coffee before shopping. Waiting to collect my order, I overheard a conversation between a male member of staff and someone who must be a regular (at least I hope they are), which was very inappropriate. 'Robert', seemingly making a 'joke' used disgusting language, was insulting and rude, loud enough for all customers to hear. I later went to use the facilities and the toilets were filthy, clearly hadn't been cleaned properly for a while. Cutlery and tray for my drinks were dirty and marked. Definitely will not be back.

One staff member working alone, the wait was about 15 minutes but, that's not my worst complaint. The tray was full on coffee cup stains, it had not been wiped from the previous 2/3 customers. The table was dirty, the cutlery was stained and when I went to the till to ask for an exchange, he searched through the draw and couldn't find one clean enough to hand to the customer. He did put my fork in a beaker full of boiling water to clean it. Overall, the place could do with a dam good clean.

Service a bit slow but good. Early is good less people. Just another chain coffee shop. Better independent shops around.

Ordered the Mango Bubble Frappe as a treat for my son, it came without the pearls (bubble bits). An expensive wasted treat. We also ordered ham and cheese toasties which didn’t travel well at all

Toilets where filthy and no toilet roll- served by 3 different members of staff for one order which was just strange it was one cake and one drink the girl who I assume was in charge spoke to other staff like they was below her she had a bad attitude with customers and with the other staff really bad vibe - will not be coming back

Came in for a quick brew before work. I accidentally knocked it over the server was very nice and got me a new one

My visit a month or so ago was good and I had to queue a little longer than I expected but I got served eventually and used one of my free vouchers. I had a tuna panini with mayonnaise and cheese and a big mug of cappuccino, my sister had a pot of tea along with my Mum too and she had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich 🥪 mum also had a crossiant with butter and jam. All was delicious and the atmosphere was good too. I then used the toilet which they had downstairs and it is good for disabled people too.

My ice coffee was spot on but the service was slow as there were only two staff on. Probably need to consider getting a least one or two more staff in.

Visited today for a bank holiday Costa treat. Friendly welcoming and efficient service. The teamwork and rapport between Emily, Robbie and David was fantastic to see and added to the warm, welcoming and upbeat atmosphere. True customer service with a smile. The whole experience was full of positivity and vibrance. Despite being busy the shop was clean and the staff still engaged with every customer in a professional manner. Well done Costa, your staff are a true asset and an outstanding representation of your company. 100% recommended.

One of the best Costas. Service always excellent and not sure why but the coffee always seems better here. More attention to detail than a lot of stores.

Its a Costa you know what you are getting when you go in. But I feel there is something about this store. The staff always look fed up and overworked. I believe its down to the management of this place and not the staff as I have had multiple bad experiences with different members. I do think the management seriously needs addressing in here.

Dirty cutlery and when I asked for a clean knife ( one given was full of fingerprints) was told "it had been through the dishwasher - he then swapped it for another and ha ded it to me while holding the knife part! How this place has a 5 star rating for food god only knows! Go to one of the other cafes is my advice

Love this shop ... fantastic range and value for money also the staff work so hard to keep the Ques down ...always give me a pup cup for the dog so he can enjoy a drink to while we sit outside

Thursday 22 June 2023 went for a morning drink about 9am. Excellent service by Emily, who kindly opened the door for my husband, cleared our table & then bought out some water for our 2 dogs Dave & Duke. Thank you Emily you made a lovely start to our day. Excellent service 😊

Food and drinks are up to standard. The toilets are a mess and the general seating area just looks like it needs a good clean.

Friendly staff, quick service and a bit of friendly banter, very welcoming with good customer service. The drink was good and what I expected and the shop appeared clean and easy accessible.

It should not have been difficult a caramel frap and a berry cooler. Sent a chocolate frap and no straws for either drink

Stopped here for a drink on Saturday morning. We manged to sit outside with a cold drink and it was lovely.

Food n drink were fine actual store needs a good clean or upgrade. Sorry to say this wasnt up to the usual Costa standards I'm used to.

Emily and a tall guy with glasses (sorry, didn't have a name badge) were extremely helpful and lovely today at Costa Southport . They were super busy and managed every customer with a smile. What a great, hard working duett.

I have been to many Costa, the food and drinks in this Southport branch is decent however the service was really poor. I was served by a woman who was rude and impatient. Even asking to use a takeaway bag for my cake while having drinks in was a big ask. Shame.

Nice cup of coffee ☕ sat on Lords Street in the spring sunshine if you closed one eye you could almost believe you were in Paris and I filled my rewards card so the next one's free what's not to like

No cups, barista had to go & get 2 from the kitchen, he struggled to find spoons, scratted around under the counter, the one on my saucer was filthy. Have never experienced a Costa like this, it wasn’t even busy. Will stick with the other one in future, was much nicer.

Brioche bun was very overdone, burnt in places and not soft as it should be. Toasted sandwich was also overdone and missing most of its filling but was more edible than the crunchy brioche roll. Am currently trying to get my money back which Just Eat make as difficult as possible now!

As with all Costas not enough staff and to much work. The cutlery is always dirty and the tables are seldom cleaned. Staff expected to do to much.

Was better than the last time I went in. Lot cleaner bit more professional. Although toilet down stairs smelt like a man's toilet. Drink was nice and hot only had take out no food either.

Ich war mit meiner Familie im Cafe und haben verschiedene ☕ Kaffees und Gebäck zu uns genommen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Im Cafe war es angenehm und entspannend, man konnte sich gut nach dem Einkaufsrundgang erholen. Wir waren alle zufrieden, es war für uns ein Urlaubserlebnis. Kann ich weiterempfehlen.

Nice little Costa you will find on the main street in Southport.Long and narrow cafe with upstair seating aswell. Service was good and quick but they did forget to serve me my Caramel Brownie.I did suggest they keep the receipts on the tray so they knew what drinks I wanted instead of the staff shouting at each other across the cafe,works in Shrewsbury. The downstair loo is also very popular,you have to be quick to get in.

Dirty floor, dirty tables, messy behind the counter. Pleasant staff. Accepting this (the cafe was very busy) we decided to have a take out. Great coffee.

I'm a regular at lord st the downstairs toilet has been out of order for a month not good for disabled people as other toilets upstairs it's not the staffs fault but higher management don't invest in stores keep putting prices up and the Southport Costas are very shabby.

Ordered 2 Baps and only got one

Really bad customer service, ordered 2 sausage baps and an iced latte. Only one bap came, the milk had curdled on the latte and no caramel was added, had a very strong petrol taste and had all grains of coffee sunk to the bottom. When ringing the shop the lady told us to ‘just deal with it’ very bad quality and awful customer service.

Called in for a coffee, must say it's not what I expected. Not many customers but tables cluttered floor dirty, 2 young men behind the counter. The one that served me didn't give me chance to scan in my points, but he did do it retrospectively. After our drink we used the toilet, dirty no tissue to use, we told the young men but when we came out nothing had happened. So sad, that store is letting costa get a bad reputation which it does not deserve.

Stopped here today for hot drinks and cake while visiting Southport. Extremely disappointed with the lack of cleanliness throughout. Tables, chairs, floor all dirty. The one (shared) toilet was grubby and smelly. The cake wasn't great either (banana & pecan). Only positive was the coffee & green tea. Won't be revisiting in the future.

Faster service and better coffee than the larger Costa in Southport central. It's a tad less spacious as only the downstairs is open, but you can sit outside and people watch on Lord St.

No welcome. Needs a good clean and training on customer relations. Toilets need a deep clean. Lots more choice in Southport. Avoid here.

Popped in for a lovely coffee today to get out of the bad weather. It was reasonably busy, so one of us grabbed a table whilst the other joined the short queue for a drink - like what happens in every coffee shop / restaurant in the world. The manager took it upon herself to very rudely ask us to leave the table as we hadn’t ordered anything - despite me having just ordered my drinks at the till. We would have been using the table within 2 minutes - she still kicked us off and gave the table to someone else! When I protested to the barista who was serving me, he just laughed - which I didn’t find funny. The manager then came over and said she would ‘try’ to find us a table, but then didn’t bother. Shocking service. Never coming back, and recommend you don’t either for a sit in coffee - even if you get a table, it’s roulette on whether the staff let you keep it.

Visited here on a wendesday afternoon. Wanted a sandwich, but none available!! Maybe a stock issue? Anyway had a flat white which was done excellently. I reccomend this costa coffee.

Sandwiches are a joke a decent company like Costa should not be serving poor quality sandwiches they are mainly bread! Costa charge a premium but aren’t providing a premium product come on Costa sort it out!

Given the general chaos in many Costa cafes these days, it was good to see that the staff were trying to be friendly and helpful even though it was a busy afternoon. Set up needs better organisation for clearing tables etc.

Went into the chapel street one today to be screamed at by a manager about standing on red spot. I had only just entered store her behaviour and attitude is appalling. She then went into scream at three other people who walked out and went to nero. Asked other manager for her name said I'm not giving it mine is Chris when you complain. She then walked past table laughing and smirking. This is not the first time she has been rude. Quiet a few times customers have complained about her attitude. I understand the 2 metre rule due to being a catering manager myself. Ask me don't scream at me. I was no where near another customer. The twoanagers attuitde is disgusting. I have complained to head office and will keep on that them till get apology. I will NEVER go in this store again. The one on lord street have better customer service maybe they should train chapel street staff. Remember customers are the ones keepin your store open. No customers no job

I had an awkward and awful experience when I popped in for coffee during the week on my way to work. The colleague serving was extremely rude which is inexcusable given there’s a Cafe Nero and Starbucks close by.

Tall man, big feet with a veranda over the toy shop and sensitive hair had an amazing gingerbread latte. Staff were lovely but dirty windows!..

Usual Costa . Great coffee and lovely toasted sandwiches. In the main shopping areas so handy for shopping.

Took refuge here to get out of the pouring rain & was asked if we wanted to take our coffee away! I wanted the autumn special cold brew but was told they didn't have any left.... sure the promotion had just started.Asked for cake & had to remind the guy to add it onto the bill, then he forgot to give me it.Latte was good & so was the peach tea.No toilet paper in the 1 toilet.Not the best experience, wish we had went to one of the local coffee shops instead.

Usually view this place as too expensive but they have a range of new deals making it much better. Really enjoy their toasting, coffee and crisp deal for £5. Makes a good lunch and their coffee is so good.

Sitting here now, there are three staff members chatting at the counter and no customers waiting. There are several tables stacked with empties and several tables that I have previously seen being cleared but not wiped. (WE have been here for 30 mins.)Why is it like this is every Costa I have ever visited in the whole world ever?I still visit Costas as sometimes it is just easy to have their bacon bap at lunchtime as it's tasty and decent calories for a lunchtime.

10 am Thursday. No queue but the 2 staff were serving the same customer. Opportunity to look round. Whole place grimy. My wife chose popular window table. Uncleared. Noticed sugar spilt on my chair. I arrived with cappucino. Back to counter to request clean up. Man with "Barista shirt came. Wiped seat first and then made to wipe table with same cloth! Very weak coffee, really just warm milk with a choc dust on top.

A typical Costa in respect of products. Didn’t think the staff were particularly welcoming although food and drink were fine. The table we chose, although clear, was grubby and would have benefitted from a good clean.

Regularly visit this Costa, at all times of the day and am never let down by the service.
