Lovely people good coffee just what I needed ☺

hot chocolate was only Luke warm as was the latte also store was dark and seemed bit grotty bits of food and crumbs all under our table windows were filthy basic table and chairs needs doing up won’t be returning plenty of nicer cafes around

Tables clean. Service from young female this morning poor. I had 9 beans on my app and bought two hot drinks. She charged me for two. I explained that I had a free drink. She said she would get my receipt and "explain " it to me. The explanation was You've bought 11 drinks so now you get a free one.

Great for grabbing a quick coffee- side hatch in alleyway is a nice feature if you’re parked badly and allows you to keep a look out for the traffic wardens😀

Never went into the establishment, but I used the "walk-thru" at the side. Great little idea. No queues, good iced coffee and good customer service.

Busy little coffee shop but lovely inside, and super freindly staff, often have offers on snacks too

Not super as my last visit - all fairly neat and tidy and service was quite fast but staff wise they dont seem to want to know. Very disinterested.

Place was empty and the tables were full of dirty cups and drink spillages on the floor. My coat ended up with a big stain on it as hot chocolate had been dripping off the table. Don't bother wasting your time!

Polite and friendly staff. Always clean and tidy and staff are always happy to help. My favourite Costa to go to.

As Costas go, this is somewhat disappointing. While the coffee is good, you have to pay extra for any milk substitution that isn't soya. Service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The interior is very tired, with marks and scuffs all over the floor, walls and furniture. The flooring is lifting in places which could present a trip hazard for some people. Most of the café looks generally unclean and in poor condition. The upstairs toilets were out of service and so only the accessible toilet downstairs was open. This was filthy and extremely tired looking. I would not feel conformable using it, having any physical disability (which I do not). You can get cheaper coffee that is just as good from a local coffee shop in the village, of which there are many excellent choices. Which is what I would recommend instead.

Manky outdated furniture, investment needed here.

Quick service and just what I needed. Nothing more to say really.

Friendly staff. Good selection of drinks and cakes well presented. 3 stars as many tables had not been cleared /wiped - but this may have been due to staffing issues in current climate. Will visit again.

Costa had been my go to coffee shop for ten years & I have probably used over 50 branches here in England. Although there is a good choice of cafes in Formby I keep giving Costa another chance but never again. The place is grubby & the customer service very poor.

Visiting family and thought we’d grab a coffee, the place was filthy and looked really run down. We could tell that even where the staff were serving looked really off putting and grubby , the tables were sticky, the whole place looked like it needed a good clean. There are allot of coffee shops on that high street, can’t see us going back to costa again.

Needs help waiting 15+ mins for two drinks, an there is no queue. Seem very disorganised. Not knowing what to do. Need a manager. Person on drink machine should just be doing drinks only.

Very slow service (30 minutes), and staff member even made wrong order.

Got my order wrong - but I don't blame her because there was only 2 of them in the shop and the queue was very long. Hire more staff

fine enough but charged me for character roast without even asking me which is against costa policy and pretty unprofessional. like it was dead u had the chance to upsell to me queen! not add sneaky charges for all ur customers !!

Glacial pace of service shabby decor floor covering worn and lifting tables left uncleared the only redeeming factor is outside seating, but given the three other alternatives within 100 metres have outside seating and kerb appeal its about time this franchise bucked up its ideas or shut down.

AT FORMBY TRIED CAPPO with caramel first time Wife had cream and caramel.adventurous Today.

Only 2 people serving on a busy Saturday! Resulting in long queues.. Finally got my drink which was too weak! Need more staff on so that they can concentrate on there job.

Friendly staff that always remember your drink. Lovely hot cappuccino and sausage barm. Very clean.

Popped in for a quick coffee. Not a clean table in sight. Had to clear it myself. Doesnt look as if the floor has been swept in weeks. Dust on every work surface. Left without finishing our coffees as it was so unpleasant to sit in such filth.

This shop, or dear, how to get it wrong, staff uninterested, pushing past you, filling shelves instead of serving. Literally no engagement from them, just barked out questions, awfully bad customer service. Tables littered with rubbish, dirty plates and cups. The shop is a mess. The outside space is tacky, again unclean and the tables are far too close together. The coffee is lukewarm and the service is diabolical. Don’t visit just don’t bother. The staff just are not interested in their shop or their customers.

Same old...but this is a good thing

Long queues resulting in very slow service. Not helped by the Costa app crash.

Very slow serving me with my coffee to busy doing delivery orders I waited over twenty minutes should serve customers in coffee shop first some customers left instead of waiting any longer this was my first time out I have been shielding for over twelve months not pleased

Standard costa overpriced but nice

Yesterday at costa i felt nothing but rage and upset as we were patronized by both “staff managers” because we were sat in a seat that apparently can only sit 4 and there was 5 of us.We didn’t quite believe this as we are costa’s regulars and come in at least 2 times a week and this has never been a problem previously. The woman who is now the so called manager was extremely rude and patronizing to us. As we got up to leave the man who was the “big manger” snarled at me for at least 4 minutes and it was horrible i felt extremely anxious because we hadn’t done anything wrong. if it was a group of adults in this situation i doubt that the woman would of said anything to them but we were taken advantage of because we were kids even though we didn’t make any fuss or be loud or inconsiderate to any other people choosing to sit in costa. We also keep you’re business alive because come to costa every week for the past year and it’s such a same we were treated like this yesterday.

Will not be going back here, staff treat you poorly, especially the younger ones! Will not be attending again. Staff were patronising and rude. All round disgusting!

i am DISGUSTED! after visiting costa Formby with my friends we were greeted with the most terrible service i’ve ever experienced. Linda, the “store manager”, came over with less than 2 metres space and was extremely rude to us. we were sat on couches that could fit At least 6 people but were told “4 people only”. after asking where else we can sit she proceeded to tell us to spilt out group up or get up, extremely patronisingly. she continued to say that a very clear seat was in fact unavailable for no apparent reason and then asked us to leave. i will in fact be going to cafe nero AND NEVER RETURNING AGAIN! i’ll be contacting costa HQ

Visited to do some uni work and service was fine. Staff were friendly and compliant with covid regulations.

I visited here today and quickly left once had hurriedly finished my drink. Unruly kids , over the age of 12 arrived , occupied tables, obviously not of the same household and no masks. Perfect spreaders of covid. After sometime an assistant asked them to purchase drinks which they didn't. There were several customers walking in , no masks, not sanitising. Costa need to reiterate the rules as this Costa is a covid disaster and should not be allowing a group of feral kids to enter, unmasked wondering around.

Very seldom do I write a poor review simply because I tend to "Weigh up" a place befor I enter. On this occasion I made a mistake thinking it was just a run of the mill Costa. The place was very full - Covid separation was OK but 3 large tables upstairs had people on them but not eating or drinking for in excess of 20 mins while people queued downstairs? Then in came a group of I think 8 children not one with a mask and playing on their phones making a noise and not eating or drinking either? I saw a member of staff once to clean tables and chairs and take dirty trays away - did she? not that I noticed. This Costa is a dangerous place to be at the moment. People were coming and going without masks - getting too close and using the place as a rest area. Fairly disgraceful all round.

I totally agree with jonw833, I have been asking for weeks about the lack of points because the system is 'offline'. Why can't this be fixed ?

We love our costa. We have costa every day. We travel many places and always divert so we can have our preferred brand of coffee. Formby Costa have repeatedly taken our money and told us that their tills are not functioning so our points won’t be added until it is fixed. Don’t worry we were repeatedly told ever since July when we were the first in the shoo after re opening following lockdown. Four months later we are now being told that our points are unlikely to be added. We feel betrayed and robbed. Our trust has been stolen. Shame on you for treating your customers this way and degrading such a wonderful brand. COSTA HAS LET US DOWN AND LIED TO US.

I went to Formby Costa today during a cycle ride. This is the second time I've visited during lockdown. Whilst they are operating track and trace, they are not paying attention to the outside tables. Not once did I see the tables being cleaned on both occasions. I thought things may have improved for my second visit but they haven't. There is a distinct lack of staffing which appears to be the main problem. I like a Costa coffee but not enough to catch the virus.

I always feel the frappe drinks taste very fake although coffee tastes good. The food is also good I like the Paninis. Staff seemed distant and the overall place is a bit run down

Upon starting to que for a drink. My little boy needed the toilet. So we jumped out the que and went upstairs, toilet was closed so went downstairs to use that, down the narrow path. Upon entering the toilet it was absolutely filthy looks like nobody had cleaned it that day. My little boy didn't even want to use it because it was so dirty. Clearly nothing has been done to keep this shop clean during this situation.

Amazing coffee. Well organised for social distancing.

A little unsure of Covid19 regime.While I was there saw a member of staff clear two of the outside tables but did not clean themThe queuing area is very narrow so would have thought customers should be asked to wait further back especially as to get to the toilet you have to walk past very close to those queuing.

The staff were so busy chatting that it took ages to get served. And then they got the order wrong. Annoying

Great menu well served by competent well trained staff. A good location in the centre of Formby village close to shops. Good opening hours particularly on a Sunday.

Poor for a Costa no soap in toilet,no tea cakes,no napkins on the sugar station not a very good selection of sandwiches. Very poor Costa

Refreshing.... Two young lads, extremely polite, they make a good team, the cafe is clean and tables are tidied really quickly, with a thank you !....efficient and very pleasant.... Aug 27th

Called in for coffee and cake after we did a bit of shopping. As we had our dog with us we sat outside which means as with all Costa shops we can only stop there when the weather is clear and dry. We enjoyed the cappuccinos and the muffins as we always do. Would recommend.

Expensive hot chocolate .slow service

Although visiting this Costa quite regularly I do find it a bit dismal and not very inviting. It could do with a refurb.

I can see why Costa has been bought out, as it is deteriorating. Three out of the four different Costas we visited recently all suffer with dirty tables whether cups cleared away or not. NB, visited a new Costa in Helston, Cornwall recently, and the exact opposite was true, anyway ... In Formby, till empty on my arrival; server appeared from back of serving area, went to sweep past me as she was obviously intent of something other than serving. Stopped to serve me with no flicker of a smile (like I had got in the way of her day); did not smile throughout serving me. I don't know why I bother with surly staff, but I said to her looking at the chocolate, 'oh, I could use sit down and eat the lot'. Ok, so not a very exciting (one way) conversation, but she could have least turned up the corners of her surly mouth and even replied with 'oh, I know what you mean.' But nothing. Then I went to join my husband and cleaned the table myself. Unfortunately, the 2 out of 5 blobs above do not reflect the nice flat whites we had which were 5 out of 5.

After several enjoyable hours down at the Squirrel reserve and beach down at Freshfield, finding a Costa in Formby village was most welcome. This appears to be a busy Costa with a large open air seating area which was full on our visit due to the good weather.There were only 3 staff on duty when we visited but despite this they were very efficient.We were served quickly with two good coffees and everywhere was spick and span.

Very hot and sunny day. Called in for refreshments, black coffees and blueberry muffin hit the spot. Will go again.

Really noisy restaurant even though we were sat by the door which is as far away from the counter and machines as you can get. I found it difficult to hear the conversation I was having. The staff were lovely and the drinks and food very nice and fresh. They were a little slow cleaning the tables but it wouldn’t put me off returning.

Popped in on a quiet afternoon. Smiley service by the till, short wait for our coffee, no complaints on that end. The shop delivers on the interior what you would expect from your usual costa, nothing flashy, or posh. But one of the cakes will help you quickly forget that

Cant make hot chocolate its disgusting they tried twice undrinkable i gave it to my friend they tried it they almost spat it out. Didnt pay for it. It was that bad. No appology no replacement drink terribke customer srrvice and had a loud band playing music at the back.
