Margaux in Kensington and Chelsea

I love great French food and Margaux did not disappoint. The octopus appetizer had a great flavor and it was tender and succulent. My entree was the sea bass which had an accompanying boullaibase that was expertly prepared. Service was excellent as were the wine recommendations. Cudos to Margaux!!!

What a delightful and charming French restaurant! The ambiance is beautifully curated—elegant, peaceful and perfect for a relaxing evening . The team is warm, professional and attentive without being intrusive. Service is quick and efficient and they genuinely ensure every guest feels well looked after while respecting your privacy. The food is absolutely outstanding. The quality of the meat is exceptional, the dishes are fresh, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The fish was particularly flavorful and cooked to perfection. A special mention for the raspberry and pistachio Mille-feuille—truly a standout dessert! A huge Well Done to the entire team for creating such a wonderful dining experience!

A little pricey, but the food was absolutely amazing. Octopus had a combination or accompaniying side making it tender, melting and crispy all at the same time. And the beef bourguignon was a classic, slow cooked making it melting in the mouth. I will definitely be back for a special occasion. The wine selection and recommendation was extremely good! I definitely recommend the place for someone wanting a wine pairing with their food. One of my colleague went for an event, and she mentioned having some of her best wine there.

A culinary gem: Margaux delivers on every level Margaux is the kind of restaurant that proves you don’t need an extensive menu; just a well-curated one where every dish is something you want to try. From start to finish, our meal was a delight. We began with the burratina, a beautifully delicate dish that set the tone for what was to come. The roasted octopus was perfectly tender, and the truffle gnocchi was pure indulgence, bathed in a rich, velvety sauce that we eagerly mopped up with fresh bread and a pat of butter with fragrant red peppercorns. For mains, the three-way lamb was executed to perfection, but the cod stole the show... cooked just right, full of flavour, and memorable. Every bite was complemented by a selection of red and white wines that elevated the meal. Beyond the food, the experience was enhanced by the attentive service. The ambient lighting added to the charm, creating an intimate, upscale atmosphere that I personally love. Margaux is a place you go for an effortlessly elegant dining experience.

This place is overpriced. We paid £9 for two glasses of sparkling water they made from the machine. They served a champagne by the glass which was opened for a while, there were no bubbles. The food alright but much overpriced for the taste and also brought too quickly which seems odd. Took a fish for £ 41without side. The duck overcooked. They say it’s a French restaurant but it’s not, everything can be found in a classic British restaurant.

Last evening, we dined at Margaux, which offered a classic saloon bar ambiance with dim lighting. The black truffle gnocchi was delightful, as were many other starters though the meat was average. Despite initial service hiccups, it improved. Opting for a ground-floor table is advisable, as the basement lacked the desired atmosphere for our group of fourteen.

Perhaps the beef bourignon and the service are the only 2 things we will come back for!

Just returned from a lovely dinner with girlfriends at Margaux and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, lovely atmosphere and attentive service. Nice to have this restaurant in the neighbourhood!

We really like eating in this restaurant. The food is very good but there always a feeling of being rushed. We could been out of the place within an hour. They could just slow it down a little bit.

I really wanted to rate this place higher, unfortunately my wife's fillet steak came out as a rough tail piece, tough and inedible! Why did the chef try to pass off this as a £42 steak? Waiting staff were very good and told us that it would be replaced. This seemed to take a very long time to cook a steak, I had finished my meal. The Waiting staff kindly offered us a free dessert which was very kind. The entire meal tasted amazing, especially the frogs legs. A lovely evening ruined by one steak.

My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Margaux. The menu was diverse enough to cater to light eaters as well as those who wanted heartier fare. The drinks menu also called for Mon alcoholic selections, a good selection of wine and cider, so everyone was accommodated. The service was spot on, there when you needed them but not overly attentive to the point of interrupting conversation. The ambience was buzzy but quiet enough to speak and be heard. We will return!

The best thing is the Black Truffle Gnocchi, 10/10 recommend. The cocktails weren’t excellent unfortunately however the staff were wonderful and very nicely decorated

My friend and I celebrated Christmas here together recently. We started with their carpaccio which was decent and their squid ink tortellini which was excellent. Then we had their beef fillet which was regular and their breast of guinea fowl which was very good. The mash and creamy spinach were exceptional. However the Tarte tatin was absolutely terrible, under-baked, uncaramelised and totally weird, like it came from a different kitchen. Other small things we good, like the service, the complimentary crostini and tapenade was very nice, as was the general vibe. Only the bread was sadly not warm, alongside cold butter was a fail for such a place. Overall, I thought the strong dishes were really good and certainly worth a try.

We had a very good meal with attentive service at Margaux. The interior and furnishings could have been nicer for what we expected and the temperature was quite cool for a winter night. As a couple, we felt the vibe and art were very female toned, which seemed unnecessary for a business that attracted all hetero couples the night we were there. In a difficult economic time for all hospitality, would you not want to attract all to this good food restaurant?

What a gem. We loved sitting in the window with all the light, for a ladies lunch. The food was amazing - octopus & beef bourginon both on point! Service from our Bolivian waitress was also perfection. Nice little buzzy atmosphere too. Will be back :)

In a word, spectacular. What a wonderful find last evening. Little, cozy, neighborhood gem with a warm welcoming staff. A perfectly made martini and fantastic menu. Not like everything else. The duck was perfect, the ink tortelloni in a lobster emulsion were both divine. I’ll be back.

Margaux simply never fails to delight and impress. The food, of course, steals the show; the beef bourguignon and duck breast are particularly delicious. The wine list is fantastic (they have a great Austrian white) and the staff are always helpful and friendly. It's an exquisite place to spend an evening.

Wonderful French food near South Kensington. The service was especially something to rave about, every staff member was welcoming and kind! The Kitchen even sent out a lovely dessert and start on the house because it was our anniversary dinner. Atmosphere was relaxing and chill, great vibes and I loved the food, especially the soup and my duck. Thank you Margaux :)

Wonderful seasonal menu, in a lovely atmosphere. I was blown away by the foie gras, which, coming from a French person, speaks volumes. Starters are particularly good, but don't eclipse the qualities of the mains and deserts. The wine list is well thought out, and delicious to try in this cosy atmosphere. I recommend smoking at one of the outside terraces for a quasi Les Deux Magots touch.

Every dish was outstanding. I had the lavender and honey duck with a side of carrots. It was all perfect. One of the top two duck dishes I’ve ever had. Overall a memorable experience.

We had a confirmation for dinner. When we arrived there were no tables available. We were offered a table downstairs (4 tables there next to the kitchen and bathroom and they were empty). We asked to sit at the bar to wait for our table. To our shock other customers walked in and were given tables. When we enquires as to when our table would be ready we were told it was highly unlikely to get a table. Keep in mind this is with a confirmed reservation. Our night was ruined and we had to frantically search for an alternative restaurant. Our night finally ended without dinner. Very disappointed.

We had a reservation and when we walked in they said sorry the dinning room is full and proceeded to take us downstairs where there were 4 tables. All empty and the kitchen and the restrooms (obviously empty because no one would dine in that atmosphere). We went back upstairs and asked to wait at the bar until a table frees up. To our shock multiple people guests arrived and were seated. Upon asking the hostess we were told it doesn’t look likely that we would get a table. This restaurant was recommended to us by American Express concierge services. Unfortunately the service and attitude is beyond acceptable. Very bad experience.

This is a little treasure. Really laid back but excellent food. My only piece of constructive feedback is I kept having to wait quite a long time to order an extra glass of wine. I think all restaurants need to keep an eye on customers’ glasses and when empty assume at least some of the customers might want another glass. Otherwise a terrific meal

Wonderful surprise: absolutely delicious!!! We had the king prawns and the avocado tartine: both amazing. The king prawns were so good we want the recipe for the green sauce. The staff are lovely. It was a truly enjoyable lunch.

Everything we ordered was delicious. Starting with the tuna appetizer, the duck was cooked perfectly, and my husband swordfish was delicious too, so we made a reservation to come back.

Margaux has the feel of a bar or saloon, with dim warm light. The menus use a slightly hard-to-read font, and we saw multiple people using phone flashlights to read them. We had the black truffle gnocchi, black ink tortelloni, foie gras with figs, and cheesecake. The foie gras was served with normal white bread, which was rather disappointing - I'd hoped for sourdough or baguette chips. The tortelloni was okay, but I will happily say that the giant cheese-filled gnocchi was the best I'd ever had. The cheesecake was whipped very well, so it was light and fluffy, and very tasty. For us, the service was good. I managed to get a tea with ice even though it wasn't on the menu, and the food came out quickly. We had a water jug, so never had to wait for water. We did find the table a tad small for two, so perhaps keep that in mind. One thing that I feel would be remiss not to point out, though - we noticed that a woman with a cane was initially offered a downstairs table (mind that there is no elevator, and the stairs are rather steep), and only after some argument was the woman offered a ground floor seat. This did seem a bit odd to us, as there were empty tables on the ground floor when the woman showed up. The restaurant is also not wheelchair accessible - the restrooms are downstairs and, as noted, can only be accessed via stairs. In all, I think it was okay for us pair of able-bodied folk, but for anyone with less mobility, perhaps not.

Ambiente relajado y cómodo, personal profesional que entiende cómo estar suavemente atento a las necesidades de su mesa y una comida notable. Tomé la sopa, una preparación fría de tomate dorado que podría haber jurado que estaba hecha de naranjas y fresas. Una ensalada de espárragos, construida juguetonamente como un fuerte con lados de endibia roja y romana, los espárragos escondidos dentro bajo un techo cocido de huevos de codorniz a la mitad. Cinco estrellas tarta tatin para después, y una amplia carta de vinos. Este es el tipo de restaurante que te hace querer volver con una docena de amigos para que puedas compartir y probar cada plato del menú.
