We recently visited with friends and sat inside . However there is a wonderful terrace which would be delightful in good weather . Service was excellent and very warm . The food was very good including the crab toast , the chilled cucumber and nettle soup , the beef tartare and for main courses the monkfish tail , (lemon) sole meunière , the onglet and the crab and scallop tortellini . We drank a wonderful Spanish white wine which was suggested by the sommelier . Great ambience and a lot of fun .

Oh dear. Encouraged by a couple of favourable newspaper reviews we went for a midweek evening dinner. First, the waitress behind the bar while we waited for our table was great (although brought still water when we asked for sparkling, but these things happen). From then on… Service once seated was slow, inattentive and uninterested. White wine came when we ordered red wine - funny, in isolation. Then having ordered snacks, starters, mains and sides: one starter arrived on its own with some bread before anything else, then a couple of snacks, then the other starter. This isn’t a small plate restaurant, it’s a restaurant where the kitchen and front of house can’t bring food in the right order or at the same time. Our mains arrived without their side dishes and after a couple of minutes of waiting we flagged a waiter down (there are a lot of them but they’re not doing much serving) who then looked utterly panicked about the missing food. Some salad arrived a few minutes later, a few minutes later some frites, a few minutes after that some green beans. At this point we’d already eaten most of our mains. I say most, but the kitchen wasn’t paying care and attention to seasoning - I like salt on my food, but this was way way way overboard. I left half of my main uneaten, and the sides weren’t finished either. Like eating a salt brick. At no point did anyone check on the meal, apologise for the late arrival of 60% of it or ask at the end how it was. We skipped desert, paid an left. In hindsight it’ll make for a funny story about a terrible restaurant with pretensions - but what makes me mad is that some people will save up to go for a birthday, or anniversary or something special because of the press reviews by identifiable critics. Don’t do it. The couple next to us were celebrating a birthday; both looked broken by the end and nobody seemed to care. If you live next to it then fine, why not, I imagine it’s more fun than microwaving a ready meal and on that basis alone the culinarily challenged of Holland Park will keep it in business. But if you enjoy eating or appreciate good service or live more than a 5 minute walk away then why bother?

Excellent lunch for two, great food and service. We loved the trout pastrami, courgette rice, crab and scallop tortellini and the cauliflower with barley was a great vegetarian option. Good bottle of Albariño was a reasonable price. Cherry and almond tart a delicious way to end the meal. Will be back

A very nice and cozy restaurant. The wine, food, and staff are very nice, and the customer base is very good. I had lunch by myself, but I was glad that they were able to accommodate me even without the main course. When you order a dish, the sourdough that comes with it is warm and the pink spread is very delicious. I fell in love with this shop, which feels like Paris ♡ (The customer service is even better than Paris, lol)

WOW! We had a fabulous 25th Wedding Anniversary at Julie’s Restaurant tonight and we’ve never been to a restaurant so attentive! The staff were wonderful & really helpful. Our meal was great, from Quails Egg snacks to the Crab Toast - fabulous! We then had some Oysters with a Bloody Mary Shot (one of our favourite combinations) - very good. Followed by the Lobster Soufflé, with new potatoes! You only need one shared with two as the Soufflé has a sauce around it (like a thick Lobster Bisque itself! We followed on with the Cherry & Almond Tart and my husband had the chocolate Pave dessert! Wow this dessert had to have 100% Cocoa in it! We met with Tara, the owner who is committed to maintain and continue Julie’s Restaurant’s status, as one of the most iconic venues to be visited, with a relaxed bohemian atmosphere, friendly people, great attentive staff. Definitely a restaurant to be visited! Food - tick, Atmosphere - tick, Value for money - tick. 100% recommend to everyone!

Being local we have eaten at Julie’s in its various incarnations over the years - I can honestly say this is the best yet. Tables nestled on the pretty pavement among the trees, menu original and most importantly delicious, without being contrived. Staff seem to really enjoy working there and it shows in their service which is friendly without being intrusive. Pricing fine for Notting Hill. Thank you for a lovely low key meal.

I had dinner at Julie's last night, and it was amazing. From the warm welcome to the cozy atmosphere, everything was spot on. The food was great, and the dessert was incredible. Highly recommend! We'll definitely be back.

We were sadly disappointed by Julie’s. The majority of the staff seemed young and inexperienced, the management and owner were not friendly at all and the decent food and drinks didn’t make up for the service and ambience. This used to be an old haunt of ours but I won’t be returning.

Food was average at best for such a hyped up French Bistro. Wine and wine connoisseur was excellent. Our waitress was just awful and extremely rude. She was just rushing the service. Clearing table and dishes when we said we were still eating. One of the desserts was “cheese selection” and upon asking what selection of cheeses there were I was told, “something from Shropshire or some other shire” then she said Chef says “selection”. Finally upon asking again I was told exactly what cheeses I was about to get for my £20. Overall average food, terrible service. I wouldn’t read other newspaper reviews which were clearly bought for publicity.

First went 30 odd years ago...great to see it back!

We went for Sunday Lunch and was disappointed to find a "brunch menu" only available and not a full menu choice. First impressions from outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon were WOW. But when we went inside and were offered a table we were surprised how close the tables were together. You could not get into the back seat without moving the table to one side, and you certainly could not have a private conversation. We said we were not happy with the table and after a short wait did manage to get a different table with a bit more of a gap. The food was ok wouldn't rave about it. The service was very poor to the point that we had to continually ask where our food was and could we have our wine glasses topped up from the bottle that was placed away from our table. The little area where we were seated next to the entrance and stairs was a constant runway. All the tables next to us complained about the service and we collectively mentioned it to the Manager. I even asked for the service charge to be removed from our bill, which the manager totally understood. A great shame as we had traveled a long way and were looking forward to a leisurely lunch. Not sure I would make the journey again.

We were excited to go for Sunday lunch to the newly refurbished Julie’s. They only offer brunch on Sundays with a fairly limited menu. We had 2 fettuccine, an omelette and quails eggs on sourdough. The fettuccine was very stodgy pasta, definitely not Al dente and the other dishes were underwhelming. It was very busy and the staff looked frazzled. We waited nearly an hour to be served. We were seated by the staircase where the waiting staff were constantly bringing up the food from the kitchen to the tables. A very strange set up. Disappointing.

Absolutely incredible! The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. Thank you! Will be back next time we're in town.

Have been going to Julie’s ( for over 2 decades) since I was law student in London ! Have always loved its boho casual-chic vibe , and unfussy ( but tasty , and inventive ) menu offerings !

It was our first time at Julie's, but it will certainly not be the last. Friendly welcoming from everyone, which you really don't get everywhere, great food - especially the Lobster Souffle was divine - wonderful service and great atmosphere. Brilliant to see the place so buzzing on all floors. Looking forward to being back soon.

I prefer the old old Julie’s. This feels slightly pretentious but it’s great ambiance for celebrating especial occasions. Food was good, service was good, overall good night out.

Rarely does a place transcend the tidal wave of exceptional reviews you hear about it. This place does. The food, atmosphere, management could not be better. I will be coming back as often as I possibly can.

This is the apex of atmosphere. Dining out on a hot summers night here is one of life's great pleasures. The food is voluptuous and indulgent; it's classic bistro pimped for the 21st century.

This is the place to be now. Julie's has always been an icon but I never liked the updated decor of the old venue. What they have done now has gorgeously opened out upstairs and downstairs still has the old charm. The food and service are now second to none. I just loved it. Back on my regular list (if I can get a table!!)

Firstly, the restaurant is beautiful, and the decor is phenomenal. The ground floor has a strong fish smell, but fortunately, we were seated downstairs where there was no fish smell and it was quieter. With a group of eight, the downstairs area was perfect. We sampled a large portion of the menu, and overall, everything was good. Only one dish was subpar, but nothing was outstanding either. The meat was good, the fries were great, and the mashed potatoes were nice. The spider crab was decent, and sharing one between two people is a smart choice. The bacon butter is incredible. The lobster Caesar was okay, as was the beef tartare and crab tortellini. The duck à l'orange was dry and tasteless. The highlights of the meal were the lobster soufflé and the bacon butter, which essentially came with the bread basket. The staff was friendly, and the wine selection was excellent. However, the service needs improvement. We had three different bottles of wine, but our glasses were never refilled without having to call a waiter, which was difficult since we were seated in a booth. Overall, I do recommend Julie's, and I'm confident their service will improve over time.

My favourite bar/eaterie in London has returned under new management and looking completely different. But probably still my favourite eaterie in London. A triumph! Congratulations to the new owner and team. I reluctantly recommend 'Julie's' as it will only make it more popular!

Cute place that just reopened after 2 years. Food was extremely pricey but it’s expected from the hype/fame it gets. It’s very tasty tho. Drinks are surprisingly not too expensive. Tables are so close together we literally know the couple next to us was on their first date because we can hear what they talk about. Outdoor seating seems nice but I can’t imagine the trouble that I have to go through to secure a table.

The venue has been nicely set up and we were seated in a booth on the ground floor (there is also a basement level as well as terrace seating). Myself and my wife ordered the spider crab toast, pea panisse, prawn carpaccio, beef tartare, asparagus, scallop tortellini, lobster soufflé, the onglet, and sides of carrots and fries. For dessert we tried the chocolate pave and the creme caramel. The kids were offered a tomato linguine and they also shared some of our food, finishing with ice cream for dessert. The food was generally solid, favourites were the crab toast, beef tartare and the scallop tortellini. Both desserts were winners as well. Service was charming and there seemed to be a lot of staff around which helped things to move along efficiently. The bill for our family of 4 came to £311, of which £72 was spent on drinks. I was looking forward to my visit to Julie's, I had high expectations since its re-opening as a local round the corner. The tables were crammed together and there wasn't much space. There shouldn't have been a table where I was sat, as it was right next to the till and the staff had to squeeze past behind me when they wanted to move. For most of the evening the waiters were pushing past my shoulder and chair, at one point a chair was lifted over my head to get past. They were bickering between each other too around the till and we couldn't relax. The starters were good but when the mains arrived the plates couldn't even fit on the table. We had already asked to move a couple times as there were many free tables but were told that it wasn't possible and we didn't want to sit outside either (it was cold). The staff didn't seem to care about how we were doing until we asked to move for the 3rd time as they had to move candles, condiments and other items off the table just to get the mains on, which still didn't fit as our plate were half off the table. We got moved at that point. The food was good however, I enjoyed the big Ribeye steak with the marrow on the side, but when you don't have a good experience what's the point in going out. The restaurant looks good for brunch or drinks outside maybe in summer but I did not have a good experience dining in. They didn't seem too bothered either, waiters nor managers.

Best brunch in london. Attentive service, owner kindly greeted us, delicious food, cozy terrace with heaters and blankets, live piano on Sunday afternoon. Nice for a couple or group of 4-6 friends & family. Dog friendly Recommend the quail egg toast, cabbage, seafood tower (as a starter), & sausage. For drinks - pear pastis and bloody mary :)

Julie's has recently reopened, after closing down. This place is incredible... the food is absolutely superb. The chef that is there now is amazing... I was blown away by the quality of food. The new owner was gracious to come and introduce herself to the patrons. I understand she went to Julie's when she was younger so has taken this on as a passion project.. which is absolutely obvious in the quality of food and decor. It's a real credit to her and a love letter to the history that this institution holds. Only one slight area I would suggest needs work is the service.. it isn't bad.. it was just chaotic. It needs some fine tuning with a solid maitre'd. I will definitely be back.. have already told many contacts to go here! It's a true gem.

Had my 50th and 70th birthday here. Perfect. All my friends adore it. Great inside but especially out the front when perfect weather. Such a gorgeous position and to die for food. Really lovely little cocktail bar too. Please keep going forever!

Iconic, cosy restaurant in Notting Hill opening up to a delightful European-esque terrace square. Great reasonable French menu, wine list and service. Tara and team did a fantastic job re-inventing this classic spot.

Had a fantastic time at this restaurant. All the staff were very pleasant and the food was fantastic so congratulations and well done to Owen and the team. It’s the kind of restaurant you want to go back to on a regular basis which we will try to do we will certainly be telling all our friends about this restaurant.

Went on a Sunday lunch and I have to say one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while! The food was delicious, you have to try the pea panis and spider crab! The service was spot, thank you Darlene! and we had a lovely pianist playing in the background. Will definitely go again!

Oysters were perfectly chilled and so fresh. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Staff were so attentive and friendly. We sat outside and luckily the weather was kind to us.

Beautiful restaurant with incredible service. Every staff member was so nice and welcoming. I had a snack of hispi cabbage and olives which I recommend, and loved the white wine the sommelier recommended. Do consider the terrace in the summer, if you can get a spot! Highly recommend getting a reservation on weekends.

Can't recommend this place enough. From the decor, friendly service, to the food - standouts are to butter (changes daily and for us was with leek and bacon - amazing), then the oysters, beef tartar (best I've had) and lobster souffle. Also very welcoming of my three year old! Gave her colouring pencils which she loved.

Atmosphere of this place is great they changed the decor but the service is slow because of being packed all the time food is mediocre but not to be looked over maybe you’ll have something you’ll like more than me. Conclusion it’s good enough for a family lunch.

Everything about the new Julie's is impeccable down to the last detail. The food is fantastic, I loved the seafood tower at brunch, and the lobster soufflé at dinner, and the burnt orange cheese cake for dessert (both times!) The team at Julie's made my experience really special, everyone is super welcoming from the second you walk in. A highlight for me are the sommeliers, Roman and Chris, introducing me to some beautiful wines! I can't wait for my next visit!

Julie's has always held a special place in our hearts, so when it reopened its doors after a long time with a complete makeover, we knew it was the perfect spot to celebrate our civil wedding with our family. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like part of their family, with their genuine warmth and hospitality. And the food was beyond exquisite. Each dish was a delight, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. From the appetizers (such as the tartar and the fresh oysters) to the main courses (recommend in particular the sole and the shared beef), every bite was a delicious leaving us wanting more. Julie's will definitely become our go to neighbourhood place and congrats again to the fanastic reopening!

Julie’s delivered- more than delivered- on every front. We had the most wonderful lunch, we felt so well taken care of by the staff. The atmosphere was joyous, with live piano, amazing interiors and a welcoming vibe and energy all round. The food was impeccable: a mixture of classics and interesting dishes I had never come across, with ingredients that were clearly in season and so carefully sourced. The home-made bread with the daily butter was heart-warmingly delicious. Obviously the lobster dishes etc are expensive, but there are some very reasonably priced dishes if coming in a budget- for example, the best steak tartare I’ve ever had. The drinks were great, I had bubbly and also a tomato martini which was divine. And OH MY GOD the desserts. We had a cherry tart which we paired with chocolate mousse, but also had some of my friend’s unreal cheesecake. Overall perfect experience, Will be returning soon and often.

With the warmer weather coming to London, do consider Julie’s for brunch during the day. The outdoor seating is ideally placed to provide quiet in the hustle and bustle of the City. If you’re dining with friends, do consider the seafood tower as you won’t find anything this good in the neighbourhood. The desserts are also sublime.

This is a perfect spot for a long brunch or lunch with friends and family. The piazza is wonderfully secluded and safe for the kids to run around and play. The venue even has wooden toys and colouring in for the kids. The food and cocktails are to die for and so wonderful to sit in the sun while the children play amongst themselves.

I was absolutely floored by my experience at Julie’s. It beyond exceeded my expectations. I got to the restaurant early, and a hostess warmly invited me to have a drink outside or at the bar while we waited. I had one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had: a beurre noisette (can’t recommend enough!). We were then sat at our table- the decor was chic and inviting, and the atmosphere was buzzing. We couldn’t decide so ended up getting a few things to share- the highlights for us were: - pea panisse (pictured) - crab “toast” (pictured) - lobster soufflé - steak with bone marrow - beef tartare - cucumber and nettle soups - rhubarb and almond tart The portions are generous and the food IMPECCABLE !!!! I cannot stop thinking about the lobster soufflé. The menu is original, the concept unique, the food incredible. Also the bread is freshly made every day! I’ve already made my next booking - Julie’s has become my must go to and it is adding new life to Notting hill !!!

It remained a venerable neighbourhood favourite all the way through the decades, and now the amazing Cordon Bleu-trained new owner Tara has taken the helm together with an amazing team. She is reimagining the iconic restaurant while bringing back the effortless elegance of the original, and keeping the neighbourhood spirit at the same time. And the results speak for themselves. Absolutely every single detail is carefully thought out. The decor is gorgeous and the atmosphere incredible, and each and every dish and item of food, elegantly presented in French brasserie style, and created by an awesome team under the auspices of Chef patron Own and the well-known front of house manager Emma, is simply delicious. On weekends, there is even a live pianist playing all the best tunes from Elton John to Billy Joel. A place I’m sure to return to, again and again.

I hosted a lovely dinner party at Julie's on Wednesday night. We were downstairs - it was a perfect mix of charm and history, and it was an absolute blast! It's opulent interior has a seductive fusion of sultry reds, alluring deep pinks and plush velvet. The food is equally impressive - the sole meunière and Lobster souffle were to die for! And the sommelier was an absolute legend! This place is pure magic and I can't wait to go back! Thank you to Chef Owen, Tara and the whole team for such an amazing night :)

I was so impressed by the service. The interiors are stunning and the menu and wine list are to die for. This reboot of a Holland Park establishment is a MUST visit for anyone who enjoys delicious French brasserie cuisine with a fun and cheerful ambiance! Don’t sleep on the cocktails which were some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time!

PHENOMENAL! The food, service and vibe are all absolutely amazing. I really loved the cucumber soup, steak tartare, and lobster souffle'. A wonderful place for a nice and fun dining experience, and the cocktail bar downstairs is fabulous. On brunch in the weekends there's even a wonderfully charming pianist who plays upbeat tunes, which creates a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend the seafood tower!

Congratulations on the new opening. We had a lovely lunch and could have indulged more but sadly had to go back to the office. Service was on point, food was delicious and had love the new open plan space.

Booked Julie's for a dinner with 2 colleagues from Germany who were staying at the Hilton by Shepard's Bush. They had eaten there the night before but Julie's was a welcome change. While the room we ate in was a little bit cold, the service and food were well received and warmed us up. Starters ordered included the Scallops and cured salmon, both delicious and served with fresh warm sourdough. Mains included Wild Cod and Duck breasts served with sides of Julie's yummy Tripple Cook Chips and green beans Desert highlight was the Baked Alaska, which my 2 German colleagues had never tasted but they are now converted!

The restaurant's exterior and interior are beautiful. The food and cocktails were both amazing and service was good. We loved it.

We really liked this place & hope to get back often. Food was outstanding, vibe was really pleasant & relaxed, especially the service which set a friendly, soothing tone. I think we all have fish, accompanied by an excellent Chablis. Highly recommended.

If you want to go to an overpriced restaurant that serves microscopic hors d’ouvres and entrées, then this dreadful restaurant is for you. I literally could have finished my entree in four forkfuls. £34, that would be £8.50 a mouthful 😂 To add to the contemptuous stance towards its guests, I had booked for a specific time four days prior, only to receive a message in the afternoon of the evening reservation, that it had been pushed back later. No explanation, no reason given. But as I said previously, you’ll leave hungry from Julie’s, I did and was starving by the time I arrived home. Avoid like the proverbial Plague.

Made an account to specifically write about this atrocious place. I had gone in expecting the experience of a lifetime but instead I happen to see staff being treated horrendously! There was no welcoming atmosphere or an OUNCE of respect. Completely put me off my food, although there was nothing to enjoy in the first place. I had to send it back as I received it stone cold and when I got it back it was in bits. The place was unclean and the toilets were ghastly. Very angry and upset would not recommend.

This resteraunt was recommended to us and it didn't disappoint it is our second visit, food very fresh, spotless clean, friendly atmosphere. Bit of the beaten track but worth seeking out this little gem.

All as I remember from years ago. Great food, lovely service and atmosphere. However, I do feel they need to offer the service of ordering a cab, not expect clients that have dined there, particularly if they dont live in London, to then walk back to the main road. At the very least have a number they can give clients. a call

It’s a lovely local restaurant located in a quite community area. The food was pleasant, but the waitressing should be more delicate and professional. Overall, the dinner experience wasn’t the most outstanding, can put a little more effort into the services.

What an absolutely fantastic lunchtime experience food was absolutely first class and the the staff very friendly and courteous.

Me and my partner dined at Julie’s for lunch today and it was a pleasure as always, I feel as though I should mention as I can see the couple below has left a review, and I’d like to say I witnessed this first hand they were extremely rude to staff, completely arrogant about the fact they literally waited 10 minutes for food before they asked for the bill I watched the whole thing! It’s so hilarious that people go out of there way to write false reviews to make themselves feel better! Poor Ralph - having to deal with customers like that. We have been coming to Julie’s for years and will continue to go! Thank you ralph and team for a wonderful time as always!

Arrived on time ordered asked for the kids food order to be sent to the kitchen then ordered for us a starter to share, took a while but the risotto and starter arrived at the same time. We ate and then asked them to clear away our food and start the main but leave the kids food. 20Minutes passed and we had a fidgety baby and asked for news of our main. We were told that we needed to wait since they started the main after clearing away our starter. No apology, no let me check, just plain told to wait. We queried this and were told we were rude. Waited a further few minutes then asked for bill and were again told we were being rude. Alll we asked was for our food which apparently is rude to do at a restaurant. Meanwhile our neighbours main arrived - he had sat down after us. In total we were in the restaurant for 1 hour. Food that arrived was good but rude and arrogant service is not going to go down well for a neighbourhood restaurant (and we live literally 2 minutes walk away).

Me and my beautiful wife had our first year anniversary here. We made a note on our booking that it was our anniversary and they went above and beyond to make this a special evening for us, we sat in one of there intimate alcoves downstairs and had first class service from start to finish, we even got a complimentary plate of dessert with a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary. I’d like to personally thank everyone who looked after us. We will be back next year to celebrate! In the meantime we have booked again for this weekend.

Booked a table what a wonderful reception we received made to feel welcome the staff couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. They know the menu well described all the dishes we asked about btw all sounds amazing I needed help to choose. The chef came out to recommend the wine. It was a spectacular evening couldn't fault the food the service deffo will return but with more people. Everyone needs to experience this! Thanks to all was magical x

Julie’s wow !! I loved every minute of my visit to this restaurant/ champagne bar - so beautiful inside the restaurant which has been newly refurbished so the highest standard and is breathtaking and outside on the terrace in the evening with the lights and the ambiance is just to die for. Me and my husband enjoyed the each and every course. And The cocktails are amazing !! Great friendly staff - and amazing service ! Couldn’t thank them enough - we WILL return and will recommend to all my friends and family ! Thank you JULIES

My friends and I had a lovely experience last night in Julie’s restaurant. Very nice sitting outside and enjoying the last of the summer

Julie’s is the best place to go if you want a romantic lunch / dinner in a fabulous setting, great food and service. This time we opted for their 3 course set lunch menu and it was great. For starter I had burrata with gazpacho and it really teased my tastebuds, my husband had terrine and loved it, for main we opted for Guinea fowl snitzel which was really yummy and for dessert I had meringue with strawberries ( such a delicate taste ) and my husband chocolate mousse with cherries and he loved it. Their white wine was great too. I must say that the place is definitely a must for a romantic lunch or even better dinner in this lovely Notting Hill square which has somehow almost Parisian feeling. I will return for dinner for sure.

I love Julie’s, the staff are so friendly and well organised, the atmosphere on the beautiful terrace is like being in the French Rivera! Not to mention the beautiful decor clearly well designed. They have a very classy wine cellar downstairs. Worth a look! The food is always amazing could never fault it!

Julies has been around for decades and has recently gone through a refurbishment. For those like us who were regulars in the 20th century the physical changes may jar from the memories but the food today was first class and the service very personal and friendly with one exception. During our meal we were helped by some six staff who were attentive, helpful and friendly. We and the majority of the tables were ignored completely by a bearded individual who I think was the maitre'd. He spent time on a limited number of tables even when other tables needed service

Terrible. Food is 0.1/10 absolutely discusting! It made my belly hurt. Staff is very rude! Even the manager is very rude. Never again!

Presentation was beautiful although the food was absolutely tasteless, bland and cold. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful, the way staff are treated is disgusting. Definitely do not recommend and won’t be coming back.

Great service, food and drinks for me and my friends. Very accommodating to dietary requirements. Cocktails were lovely, lots of variety. Staff were patient and would go the extra mile. We will be back!
