Marcos in the Park in The Vale of Glamorgan

Amazing place! Discovered by random! Very nice staff and the food is just delicious! Had a carrot cake which was absolutely yummy! Blankets at our disposal, nice touch!

Loved the setting, the coffee and tea was made to our request “ London Fog”. The service was friendly and kind. The park and this coffee shop was one of our favourite memories

During our holiday in Barry, we were looking for a place where we could drink delicious coffee, eat a good breakfast and spend a nice time with our sons. Fortunately, my husband found Marco's in the park. A great place with a playground for children and an unearthly view. The team that works in this cafe is very nice and helpful, they prepared breakfast for us according to our preferences, despite the fact that there was no such option in their menu. It is worth adding that the ingredients are of good quality and the food is fresh and delicious. The cafe is very clean, well-maintained, you can see that the owner puts her whole heart into this place. We visited this place twice and we were very kindly welcomed, We were sorry to leave but we will certainly come back next year.

This cafe is a wonderful place too go in one of my favorite places. Ruth and her staff are professional and helpful but most of all friendly. It's an amazing spot to watch the world go by with a pick your vantage view, sea,woodland or architecture. The cakes and treats are delectable I highly recommend the tiramisu slice. Ruth and staff a pleasure as always.

This spot is our favourite to visit, especially with family and friends. Excellent food, generous portions and prices, varied menu, and the staff always go above and beyond :)

Staff were nice enough, food didn’t take to long and the hot drinks were good. The only big downfall were the prices and portion sizes.

We stopped in to get a hot drink and some snacks. Food is nice but service was a little slow and the staff were a little snappy with us and other people.

Called in yesterday late morning. Despite being the only customers there at the time we still had to wait over half an for what was little more than a toasted sandwich. Two stars as the food was good. Next time we walk the dog it will be coffee only,or nothing.

I visit the park at least three times a week and ofter wander over to the cafe to see what’s on the menu!! This day I queued up and the line never moved!! I spoke to someone about the line and enquired is this just for ice cream as I would like to order lunch to which I was barked at by a member of staff saying that’s the line!! It would make sense to have one line for ice cream and the other for ordering hot food and sandwiches from the menu!! I never rejoined the line and continued my walk. I went back yesterday and there was no line!! This time I didn’t go in I stayed away because a company that can be rude and uncaring doesn’t deserve my hard earned money!! Visit but be prepared to wait a very long time!!

Went on Monday and it was nice sitting under cover on the decking watching the first (and very welcome) rain shower. The Full Breakfast didn't list the items so I should have asked really as it was too big for me but the food itself was very good (apart from the sausage which had very little meat content so the dogs at the next table got most of mine) At £8 I'd say the breakfast is very good value but you could choose a half size or just select individual items (which is what I'd do in future ). I didn't try them but the cakes all looked lovely and the coffee was good and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful and although they were quite busy and the breakfast is cooked to order, I got my coffee almost immediately and didn't have to wait too long for my food. I'd definitely go again

I have to say every time we visit this cafe we are so pleasantly surprised at the high level of service which is consistent with every visit we make. The food quality is great and freshly cooked to order with the quantity and quality is great. The staff are polite, helpful and accommodating. I cannot say enough praise to the staff and management of the cafe and I would like to thank them for a pleasant experience on every visit there. Thank you.

Come down for the day to porthkerry, despite being a hot summers day and the only cafe in the park, and full of 5 coaches of people mrs Marcos staff were friendly, helpful and polite. We were informed of the wait for food before we ordered, but the wait was definitely well worth it. Food fresh to order, so we didn’t mind waiting! We enjoyed our coffee on the decking whilst waiting. We were also informed of the sold out items before ordering, but there is plenty more choice so it was irrelevant. Was nice to see everyone still being friendly despite how busy it was, can definitely see why mrs Marcos is so busy. Definitely recommend!

visited today for a snack and drink, took 30 minutes to get served stood in a long que everyone complaining, when we get to the till to order food some things not for sale so not much of a choice , we sat down and waited for our order it was a little bust but nothing they should be able to cope with , after an hour yes an hour waiting for the food we at to ask where our food was , we were told not long now so we waited and waited finally it came well i would of fed the birds with what we had bread that hard was unedible , i would not recommend this place to any one may be an off day but should be prepared as it was a lovely day and its the only place to get a drink and snack i will not come here again be better off making a picnic and sitting in the park

Best cooked breakfast I have had in about a century. Tempting array of cakes and desserts, a lot of which are gluten free. Vegan and vegetarian options also looked good. Beautiful setting, with mostly outdoor seating under brollies. Lovely view of the park and the Bay. Blankets to wrap up in if it's chilly. Takeaways for the many dogwalkers passing by.

This is the second year running we have visited Marcos in Porthkerry Park, last year during Covid, it was wet, and there was only one other person in the cafe, but I remember Covid rules were very strict, and safety of staff and customers were paramount. The food was good, and thus encouraged us to call again. This year the sun was shining, the car park much busier, and the cafe with many more customers. As I remembered the food was very good, the service was good, and the prices were very reasonable. My wife had the soup, which was excellent. I did not witness any one waiting for service and did not see anyone dissatisfied. In some ways it is nice to see the staff welcoming old friends as we witnessed.

Me and my friend ordered a breakfast and a cup of coffee each and were both very pleased with the quality of the food and the service was quick and the staff were polite. Will definitely return!

This place could be a gold mine. Set in the heart of a country park with no competition and sea views. Instead it's run by bored teenagers who can barely look up from their phones. Inside is bleak and bare. Add some tables, candles, tapas and wine (obviously with a licence) and what a venue.

Stopped by with the family on a busy weekend. The staff were incredible despite being rushed off their feet and few rude customers demanding for the coffee’s to be done right there right then despite seeing only one coffee machine/one member of staff dealing with the lists of coffee’s already ordered they remained well respected, calm and friendly. The food is always lovely and we’ll presented and dogs were also catered for and staff just as friendly to them as they were their owners. I highly recommend but do advice opening and closing times are not what is advertised due to weather conditions which is reasonable living in Wales. All in all, lovely please, lovely staff will visit again often

I planned a visit here today for a school trip with my little girl, I checked the website for opening times which clearly states 9am.

Soya latte was almost totally flavourless aside from a faint hint of strangely unplesant coffee, and that was after 3 sugars were added to disguise the vile taste.

Lovely selection of drinks and food. Dogs catered for as well. Plenty of outdoor seating. Easy wheelchair access.

I have visited this cafe many times, both for ice cream and for breakfast. Service is quick, the food reasonable value and quality, and the staff friendly.

Nice Walk? Stop for a coffee and a cake? heres your place! The staff are friendly, it is a dog friendly area, but please clean up after your animal, its only polite to do so.

We often stop for their excellent subzero ice-cream. As an outdoor venue this cafe is best on a warm day (although takeaway is available as well). Food comes in generous portions and there is a good variety available. Staff are friendly and helpful. Open almost 365 days of the year (shut 2 maybe 3 days only) which means you can rely on getting a hot drink at almost any time.

I often use cafe when I go to the park, the outside seating area is nice. The food is fairly basic but fine for breakfast, toasties and chips.

Marcos in the park is based in Porthkerry Country park, it has outside seating and is great place to relax after a long walk with the dogs. The dogs are welcome to sit by your table, the food is great, they do everything from snacks, sandwiches, pannies, burgers to cooked breakfast, bunch and fish and chips. They do a range of home made cakes, the Custard slice is must. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, this is our 3rd visit there and would highly recommend a visit.

I reviewed their coffee shop on Barry island,bland coffee,on a recent walk through porthkerry park called in not that busy early morn 11-00 hrs,,no lights on in cafe,approx 5 in queue,3behind counter only 1coffee machine,ordered AMERICANO,cappachino,had to wait whilst they made wrong coffees for people in queue,got my order,same bland coffee as their island shop,no flavour what so ever,they must be using inferior coffee beans or are not using enough coffee when making orders,I will take my own flask of coffee on my next visit to porthkerry,possibly service is bad because there is no competition in the park.

Great little place to relax after a long walk with the dogs great coffee and the cooked breakfast is lush and you have to try the custard slices if you can manage it

I have only visited once, and although my burger was a little greasy, the food coming out looked excellent. I have heard they serve very good breakfasts!

Cafe is set within Porthkerry Country Park. A beautiful place for dog walks with so much choice. Walk down to the pebble beach, stay on one of the many grass paths across the fields or take one of the many trails through the woods. Lovely to sit and have a coffee and a quick snack to recover. Fantastic scenery.
