Great cafe lovely staff really friendly and food was delicious!!! I would highly recommend and definelty visit again!

My husband bought 2 ice-creams for our sons. We went back to the car and they ate them on the way home. After a few minutes I tasted a bit of my sons ice-cream as he said it tasted sour. It was completely gone off. I immediately took them off the kids and threw them away. My youngest son (age3) then had diarrhoea and is still unwell with stomach cramps now (24hours later). They had the soft ice-cream from the machine. It needs to be emptied and cleaned out. It can be very dangerous!

I couldn’t rate it a Zero - I was with my family finishing a portion of food from another outlet (chips) - I was approached by a male member of staff, who i thought was joking, when he told me to leave as he was so threatening in asking me to leave - apparently every table has No Chips written on it - I couldn’t see said sign because of all of the food on it, that we had just purchased from this venue - I won’t need to frequent this individuals no chips zone … but he is right every table does have the warning …. By the way the chips were delicious and the customer service was immensely better around - but hey you couldn’t get worse than this

Visited whilst in Barry on a day out from Cardiff. The café was very popular with locals and staff seemed very accommodating to them, however tourists was a different matter.

Right on seafront on Barry Island a must stop iconic Gavin&Stacey location great photo opps! We just had Tea /Latte & Cannolis,good selection of cakes snacks icecream etc prices reasonable in lovely location! Nice staff 2!

Cannoli were amazing. Just a stop for coffee and cake. Loads of variety and the coffee was really good too. 40p extra for oat milk which is reasonable. Good veiws down over the beach. Gluten free/vegan options are a fab addition.

We came here as a family to try the food and for the experience. I would say the food was just average nothing special and the children obviously wanted different things like sausage and chips which they do not serve! So my partner bought them what they wanted from a different outlet and then understandably wanted to sit together as a family. The owner I believe came over and told us to move because we hadn’t bought all meals from him. He made us feel very uncomfortable and everybody was looking at us so I found it embarrassing! My partners daughter then got upset by it and to make it worse, while we tried to sit somewhere along the sea front, a seagull swooped down and took her sausage. I know all meals were not bought from his restaurant but it was only a couple portions of sausage and chips, the rest of the food and drink was from him. We were going to buy an ice cream afterwards but decided to spend our money elsewhere! So overall the experience was very poor!

Turned up with a group of 20+ individuals from a visual impairment group as well as two guide dogs. Despite the weather being awful staff were incredibly helpful rearranging furniture to ensure all members were seated and dry. As well as that each member had a hot drink and cake which were all prepared immediately despite the huge order. All in all staff were amazing as was all the food, accessible and incredibly helpful.

Friends of ours recently visited us from Spain. This was their first visit to South Wales, so we wanted to show them as much as possible. Having picked them up from Cardiff Airport we started the adventure with a trip to Barry Island. Having spent about an hour on the beach we sat outside Marcos cafe and ordered 4 cappuccinos. The terrace area was immaculate with lovely views of the beach. There were quite a few people sat outside Marcos quietly enjoying baguettes and Panini's. Our drinks arrived quickly and were reasonably priced. We were surprised (and embarrassed) to see a lady and her three children sit on an empty table with trays of chips and soft drinks purchased from another cafe. When politely challenged after one of the children dropped chips covered in tomato sauce all over the floor, the lady started frantically waving to an elderly couple indicating that she was with them. The couple ignored her and continued with their meal. She then attempted to order a tap water and looked to other diners for support saying "disgusting, we aren't doing any harm". After she left the member of staff cleaned the mess, apologised for the incident and explained that only food purchased at the cafe can be eaten at the premises. Once finishing our coffee we went for a walk to Friar's Point, before heading to the Carousel Amusement Arcades.

Felt annoyed and disappointed, what a lovely place the food and drinks are amazing BUT some of our party didn’t want any of the baguettes or cakes they had on offer, so we went next door to O’Sheas chippy and grabbed a few portions of chips and sat down with the rest of our group. Within 5 mins 2 members of staff arrived at our table telling us that only food purchased from them is to be eaten in their seating area, we had purchased food from them also and when we told the staff members this they totally dismissed what we said and told us that it was company policy. With this we took a look around and there were other groups of people sat at other tables also eating chips from next door but nothing was said to them. Although we spent in excess of £100 between us on 2 same day visits, I found this to be very rude and disappointing. So would not recommend on this basis

This cafe is great! The staff made us feel very welcome, and the service was very fast even though it was very busy. We had x2 bacon rolls and x2 coffees, the bacon was super thick and the coffee was delicious! We came back for ice creams a few hours later and the size was impressive, overall this cafe is a gem!

If you’re victimised by the rude man that waits on or should I say police’s the tables here, please leave your own review so that the owners of the cafe can see why their reputation is being trampled over. I totally understand he has a job to do, I understand it would be totally rude to sit somewhere and eat food from another establishment not spending a penny in the location you’re sat however that rule should maybe be treated with a little discretion when a whole family buy food (the hot food was shocking may I add) & drinks at marcos and one family member with allergies that can’t eat anything served there to allow them to have a mouthful of other food without being pounced on, shouted out & insulted. I had my 4 month old daughter in my arms who I was feeding milk from a bottle and I felt scared at the scene he caused with my family. He stood over us on the balcony of the cafe (we were sat on the additional tables the other side of that) until we left meaning I rushed my daughters bottle and winding. Had I been on my own with my baby and he spoke to me the way he spoke to us, I would have probably broken down into tears. I have seen other reviews on here about how he’s treated others before and I’m shocked he’s still in a job or not been sent on courses about how to speak nicely to public or taught basic anger management mechanisms. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure he deals daily with rude individuals that think they can sit there and not purchase anything and eat/drink other items and that I understand why they would be removed- we saw that happen when we were there too. But I refuse to put my family in that category as we spent lots of money there. We come to Barry once a week in the summer and regularly buy cold drinks, ice creams etc however we will never ever ever spend another penny here. A real shame that somewhere so famous (thanks to the great Gavin and Stacey!) employ such a rude employee.

I’m not a lover of beaches, however, have been to this place a few times now and have always found the staff more than accommodating and helpful. I did actually witness a time when a family came and sat at the table with items not bought at the café itself. May I point out there are signs on the tables saying nothing bought elsewhere can be eaten there it’s quite clearly signed. A member of staff came over and very politely pointed to the sign and ask them to move because the tables were needed for those who were buying stuff at the venue no time what is the member of staff rude, in fact, the people at the table were very rude to him and ignored him. Fair dues to him he didn’t lose his cool, just kept politely asking them to move as the tables were for patrons, only which they eventually did. I generally have hot chocolate which was piping hot and you wouldn’t go into a restaurant and take food in with you so why would you have the temerity to sit at another café and eat food that hasn’t been purchased there? My husband is a regular visitor and following an accident and being wheelchair-bound. They couldn’t do enough for him while he was in his wheelchair. The whole family and all the staff are very accommodating even when people try to take advantage.

We stopped here for breakfast. Baguette or panini and a hot drink for £4.50. The baguettes and paninis were massive and tasted really fresh. This cafe is in a great location on the seafront and was full of locals when we visited. Good selection of sandwiches, coffees and ice creams. Some seating is under cover. Friendly staff serving and also regularly clearing tables. The cafe does some Italian specials such as panini and pastries. The Bacon baguette and hot drink is great value. I visited with friends and we like the buzz of the place. We went in winter and I imagine it would be very busy in summer.

We visited here this morning for a cuppa.Great selection of drinks, the cakes and pastries look huge, my son had a bacon sandwich and it had loads of bacon in it.Seating is all outside but part of it has a cover round which was great as it was a bit chilly.Couldn't give the full 5 stars due to the number of dogs wandering round on no leads, my daughter is a little nervous around big dogs so she couldn't completely relax.Not really Marco's fault though, more owners should be aware I guess.Would love to come back again in the summer

We stopped here for brunch. Ordered a bacon roll and a tuna and cheese panini which were ok. Very weak coffee and my husband’s was in a cracked mug which should have been thrown out. Disappointing.

Wow what can I say. It was amazing to be in the same cafe that is home to gavin and Stacey. The staff were friendly welcoming and happy. This helps me as I suffer was anxiety and depression. The cakes were outstanding and coffee was superb really recommend this to anyone. Great selection of food and drink. Very child friendly as well

Have to admit that our fondness of Gavin and Stacey brought us to this pleasant cafe but the decent selection of snacks and lunches show it has much more to it than the tv fame.

Visited on a Sunday morning to get a quick coffee and a bacon roll for breakfast. Whilst I had no problem with the food in general the roll fir the bacon could be better. I'd rather have a proper bakers roll rather than a mass produced baguette. The worst bit however was the wait for the food. I nearly gave up after 45 mins, but could see other customers were also waiting

It was our first visit to Marco's, we stopped there first thing on bank holiday Sunday for a bacon baguette and coffee. We popped in again later in the day (much busier this time, although we didn't have to wait too long to be served), the service was great, the staff friendly and professional and the coffee was great (tasted even better sat on the beach drinking from my Marco's takeaway cup!) We will definitely be back again soon...

Was pleasantly surprised that they had really good gluten free brownies at Marco's Cafe! Will definitely come back for more.

Marcos is probably popular thanks to Gavin & Stacey, but, it’s also perfectly situated on Barry Island to make it a handy little cafe stop - whether that be for ice creams, or coffee & cake - or a sandwich etc if you fancy. It’s pretty affordable, they do some lovely cakes that are HUGE, & it’s kid & dog friendly. It’s a lovely stop on a rainy day too, if you still fancy a visit to the coast!

Friendly staff advised me to buy a refillable cup which I did & had it filled up a few times & slush wa lush!

If you want just a bacon roll you are fine. Otherwise you are very limited on what they have. You just have to go there because of Gavin and Stacy!

This is a great coffee shop. The coffee was really nice. The staff were friendly. The prices were reasonable.

This is way more of an institution than just a stop on a Gavin & Stacey tour.. but its popular for that reason so be prepared to wait! The ice cream here is excellent and has to be tried even if you don't fancy a fry up and its too hot for a coffee!

My friend is a staunch Gavin and Stacey fan and she was keen to go here as some of the programme was shot here. They even have life size posters of the characters! We enjoyed a nice cup of coffee soaking up the atmosphere on a sunny March morning, looking across the beautiful bay. Lovely!

A must when visiting Barry. There are a range of hot and cold drinks on offer and a variety of cakes too. There is plenty of seating outside which is perfect for anyone wanting a coffee after a walk along the beach which is just across the way. Dogs are welcome!

I have to be honest, we just had a cup of coffee and a cake because we were stuffed from just eating fish and chips round the corner. But the whole point of the visit was for my little girl who's a MASSIVE Gavin and Stacy fan. She was blown away just sitting there. I have to be honest the food looked awesome and everyone seemed happy with the service and the food. our cakes were excellent, and the staff were very cheery and happy. And then just as we were leaving she spotted the big poster at the side of the place. OMG she was nearly in tears. Loved every minute. excellent.

My first visit to this beautiful area, with family who hadn't visited for years.

Arrived late September on a day with temperatures in the 70s on a spontaneous day out to make my first visit in over 60 years and enjoyed a super snack at Marco's of carrot cake and bacon baguette which were the best I have ever tasted. The service and ambience was superb.

Made a detour on a business trip yesterday to grab break fast in the sun. Very friendly and a glorious position to look at the sea and fabulous beach on a beautiful day. Nice coffee and breakfast panini . Will definitely detour again
