Had actually planned to eat elsewhere while visiting the needles because the reviews seemed so bad but we decided to pop in and see what the place was like anyway It was actually absolutely fine! Clean, organised and the food was very reasonabley priced. We did only get chips so can’t vouch for the other bits but it all looked tasty. Also the amount of chips was HUGE! Don’t let the bad reviews put you off.

How difficult can it be to make a single shot latte and a cappuccino? Here, obviously impossible. Proper barista coffee machine but staff who haven’t a clue. My latte (small) was so strong it was impossible to drink. My friend managed her small (but very strong) cappuccino by adding lots of sugar to ease the bitterness. We also shared a muffin by why oh why don’t need to bring pre-wrapped cakes from the mainland when we have excellent island bakeries? Made fresh daily and no plastic wasteful wrappers.

The food was as expected for a place like this. It’s was edible and hot. We went as a group of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children. All plates were empty at the end! Customer service was great. The staff were really helpful answering our questions (have a fussy teen) and they were exceptional when it came to our youngest (4) who couldn’t make their mind up. In the end she had a sausage roll and they did us a small amount of chips to go with it at no extra charge! They were friendly and welcoming and I would have no issue returning!

Stopped at Marconi’s when visiting The Needles conversation went like this: Mrs V: can I have a black coffee please Reply:I don’t know how to make a black coffee (don’t put milk in it) I will have to get someone else. Mrs V: Do you have anything without Gluten Reply: I don’t know what Gluten is but we have some carrot cake So nothing to eat and the coffee was undrinkable Major tourist attraction and no nice restaurant or cafe/ beach bar, mind you if you walk down to the beach to get a view you will be disappointed as the beach is all about selling you tickets for a boat ride. Such a shame as such an iconic area of interest

Having read the reviews here and seen the prices for things like the chair lift to the beach my friend and I decided to buy prepacked sandwiches and drinks from the cafe. Expensive but they have a captive market. Clean as were the toilets but staff looked bored and gave the impression they were watching the clock to go home. Only the man on the till seemed genuinely interested when my friend asked how he could get a hot chocolate from the machine. Pity - they were letting down everyone else on the island we met during our stay

Oh my word. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite so gross. Walked in and greeted by two people who looked so bored but trying to sell us pasties and sausage rolls which had clearly been out for a couple of days. On the hot plate were some chips which were clearly cold, some burnt sausages and some insipid chicken nuggets. We walked away. Someone on the site recommended the Wight Mouse Inn about 15 minutes away on the coast road which was very nice.

I didn’t think such dreadful food was still available to be honest. We popped in here to grab a bite to eat whilst waiting for our ferry home, so unfortunately this will be our last memory of the islands offering, despite having many great meals elsewhere. We weren’t expecting much, given where it was and you certainly delivered on our low expectations! Overcooked pasty, inedible sausage rolls, dry tasteless muffin and brownie, weak coffee - all over priced rubbish. I feel sorry for everyone going there expecting something good to eat!

We came here before heading to the needles themselves for a bite to eat to fuel our journey down the steps. Unfortunately me and my partner both chose the “broccoli bake”. And bake being the definitive word here, it had been cooked to an inch of its life. So much so that the pasta on the top had reverted back to its dried state in a previous life. The chips were dry and old and the vegetables that were promised on the chalk board were just baked beans. I understand that it’s a cafe and everything is mass produced but it’s a shame they don’t use some of the amazing produce the Isle of Wight has to offer. Oh... and all of that was for £8.50 without a drink.

We were a party of five - grandparents, our son and his two girls, aged 14 & 10; most of the tables are for four people so we sat at two tables next to each other. I am sure you will find something here to your liking. Unfortunately I was not careful enough when I made my choice picking up a Cheese & Brochilli bake, which I thought would be brochilli with cheese sauce over it with a crispy cheese top, but under the crispy cheese top was reasonably dry pasta with very little sauce and very little brochilli. My husband had Cottage Pie with mash which he thoroughly enjoyed, so take time with your selection, so you are not left with something you can only eat half of.

Oh my word! Having been pulled in by the kerb-appeal of all the delicious-looking delights in the window, my partner and I hoped to find something nice for lunch. How disappointed we were....... This verged on a blend of Fawlty Towers and a Karen's Diner. There are warning-galore, all written on paper bags stuck over the walls and on the display areas. "Do not touch, this is not self-service, don't fiddle with the toaster settings, children and knives don't mix, we are not trained fire-fighters, no toilets here.....", all headed up by a small, rather stroppy and officious tyrant of a woman! I wondered what we had stumbled upon so headed for Tripadvisor and all was revealed! The reviews don't lie! I then amused myself over a bowl of mediocre soup and unremarkable bread, by reading the words of previous customers. I CONCUR! We ate our lunch squashed onto a pew with other equally bemused/ confused/ amused diners and made a speedy exit - my partner more speedy than me as he didn't want to risk her wrath at the till, heaven-forbid he did something wrong! I'm still not quite sure what we experienced and I don't think I'll return. Go for a nosy if you have broad shoulders and fancy taking on Miss Trunchbull of the bakery world!

One of the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Fish full of bones and batter was so greasy that I don't think they bothered to drain off the fish. Staff couldn't have cared less, food was binned.

Visited during the Car Festival. Just a basic bar in a large building serving in plastic cups. Cheaper than expected.
