Very expensive but good food with decent service. We went with a deal -3 course Sunday lunch for 2/ £30pp. The extras cost a further £35pp - 5 drinks, water, bread & olives, 4 coffees. The building is nice. The service was efficient but with maybe many different wait staff, so it's hard to compare to small restaurant type service. Beautiful building, great views. Starters -salmon & fennel remoulade, beets with goats cheese. Well balanced flavours good presentation. Mains - beef roast & pork roast. Asked for & received rare beef. Generous veg portions -peas/Chantenay carrots/red cabbage, 2 good roast potatoes, large yorkie. Many pubs can be found for excellent roast. Here I found his quality but nothing particularly stand out. Dessert - cakey brownie with overly sweet vanilla instead of the standard chocolate ice cream. Was my swap a mistake? I won't spend £130 on a Sunday roast for 2 again, but I enjoyed the brief time away from my toddler kids.

Had Sunday Lunch here today using a Travelzoo voucher we were given for Christmas. The menu was specifically for Travelzoo purchases so even if it was limited compared to the full menu, it was still quite extensive with good choices. I had the Caesar Salad for starter and it was very nice and hubby had the smoked salmon which looked like a decent serving and he said it was good. We both opted for the Mixed Roast which gave us Beef, Pork loin and chicken. This is where it went downhill - you could tell from the look of the beef and pork, as it curled up at the edges that they had been trying to keep it warm or reheat it - it was not the best and very thin and dry. Also, the chicken was very dry. You would not expect a restaurant of this calibre to be serving meat of that standard. The vegs were OK apart from the roast potatoes, which similar to the meat, were very dry. The Yorkshire Pudding, however, was lovely. The only dessert we could face to get moisture back into our mouths and stomachs were sorbets and these were very good. The service was a bit slow, but this was OK for us as we did not wish to rush between courses. Whether it was the timing of our sitting (perhaps eat early and it may be better, and not had chance to dry out) or because it was a voucher, I don't know. If I had paid full price for it, then I would have been very unhappy and returned it. Overall, very disappointed and I will not be returning and will stick to our local pub for decent, well cooked food at half the price.

Sunday lunch was very nice with generous portions. Only downside was the carrots were really hard, and the red cabbage was too sweet. Atmosphere was ok, the lighting was a little bit too dark for my liking. Staff friendly and polite.

Overall ok place but only because we had a 50% off voucher. If we had paid full price we wouldn't have been happy with the food. I can see the vision of a fancier menu but the food wasn't the best quality and the roast dinner we had wasn't great at all. The wine however was lovely. Our server, Maisie, was lovely and did a great job. There was a couple behind us who were being so difficult but Maisie and the Manager handled it really well. Unfortunately, I've been charged twice and waiting on a chargeback from the bank. Not the servers fault at all, the signal for the card machine wasn't great in the garden room so maybe ensure you go inside to pay. We'd definitely return for some drinks in the sun but the sunday dinner at least wasn't what we'd go for again. Lovely outside terrace but also be aware it is a pay to park site.

Quiet, possibly one of the best Sunday roasts out I have had in a long time. Greeted straight away and seated seamlessly in the lovely deep dining chairs. A pianist playing giving great ambience to the restaurant. Serve was quick, food hot and delicious, the French onion soup was to die for, and hearing around the room a lot of complements too and rightly so. The main course was plentiful with extra gravy and a side of steaming hot veg. Sticky toffee was lovely with an ample dollop of ice cream. Just remember, when visiting the restaurant, you don't need to pay for parking, yet always double-check.

Was a surprise for my birthday. What a surprise it was. Had to send my food back as it was cold. Was told the chef would make me a fresh meal. That didn’t happen the food came back dried up the sauce was gone it was inedible I asked for a Manager and told him to take it off the bill. He asked if I wanted anything else but everyone had finished their meals so I didn’t. Two in the party had lamb which they said was overcooked and tough. Service was very slow our waitress was sweet but very inexperienced. At one time I stood up to try and get a staff member there was absolutely none in the restaurant I felt so bad for my friends who had gone to so much trouble for my birthday an absolute disappointment

Visited early on a Friday night, several items were not available including the chateaubriand which we would usually have at steakhouses. My wife’s fillet was over cooked, my burger was warm not hot. Onion rings lacked seasoning and were very bland. Service was fine - and that really summed up the whole experience… Acceptable as a quick meal but I’d expect better of a mpw restaurant, and would have been disappointed if we’d visited for a special occasion.

I was expecting something far better, 2 stars is probably a bit generous. I really wanted this to be good, I was seduced by the Marco Pierre White name and was expecting something better, expecting a treat. It all started off well, a pleasant setting with attentive service, but given that the restaurant was only serving 2 or 3 other tables the mains took a long time to be served. When the mains did arrive some of my main dish was only luke warm when served, whilst one of the sides was scalding hot. The steaks were a bit tough, not the best cut, and I also found the whole meal very salty! Once the restaurant began to get busier it was clear that they are a bit understaffed as the service became a bit intermittent. After about 25 minutes of waiting I had to call staff to the table to pay the bill. I was happy to include a tip in the ‘gratuity’ section of the bill when I signed, but after signing I noticed that a service charge was already included! I personally consider this a form of fraud or theft and huge insult. Any establishment that tries to dupe their customers into paying additional costs is a business with questionable morals and business ethics . . . shame on you Marco Pierre White grills, I expected better but this is just a glorified overpriced Beefeater. Don’t bother wasting your time, there are much better places out there.

Went for Sunday lunch and the vegetarian offer was linguinei with tomato sauce! The most boring dish I have ever eaten. How can this be a valid sunday lunch "with all the trimmings", there were no "trimmings" with my linguine? My wife's roast was okay but cold and not as good as our local pub. The chef here is a disgrace to his apron, obviously incapable of cooking a nut roast or a vegetarian wellington - avoid at all costs.

This used to be our go to for great steaks. I would put it on the same par as The Hawkmoor. However, our dinner recently was sub-standard to say the least. I had booked it as a 50th birthday present for my friend which was (even though marked on booking reference) completely ignored. We had an early dinner 6.30 but as the restaurant filled up it was clear the waiting staff could not cope. My sirloin steak was inedible- fat running throughout it so could not be eaten. I had a new one prepared it took 25 or so minutes by which time my sauce and sides were cold. The staff didn’t replace them so had to ask and again wait. My friend in the meantime had eaten their dinner! We had to find someone to pay the bill as no waiting staff came over and the lack of service was not reflected. Marco’s is expensive and good should be cooked perfectly. Appreciate that they replaced my meal but a special occasion was ruined.

Can't recommend the breakfast as from experience recently with a party of 8 the poached eggs were hard boiled! First time ever to have hard boiled poached eggs, which ruined the dish I ordered of smashed avocado on sourdough toast. Even the sourdough toast wasn't chewy in the centre, just dry and crumbly. My colleague had the fried breakfast and again ruined by overdone poached egg. Nice setting with pleasant staff but come on, serve your eggs properly, should never leave the kitchen in this state which you would think meeting MPW standards such things are checked. Very disappointed, didn't complain as wasn't paying and I didn't want to appear rude to our host. If I was paying I'd definitely return the dish.

Great menu with some good choices, unfortunately they had run out of sharing steaks so we both ordered 6oz fillet medium rare… When served one was perfectly cooked and a good cut of meat and the other was medium at best and not a great cut of meat. I sent it back, stating I had asked for Medium Rare and to my astonishment it arrived bank at my table a few minutes later with a message from the Chef stating that it was medium rare! It wasn’t… I asked if the chef could come out and see the difference between the two steaks, but was told that wouldn’t happen. So I politely sent it back and didn’t order anything.. the most disappointing factor is that I then sat and watched my mate eat his perfectly cooked steak, which to be fair he said was really nice (and it looked it) I wish I had taken a photo to show the contrast in the two steaks… which thankfully was recognised by the front of house. It was a shame as on another night with a more experienced chef no doubt it would have been a great meal.

Firstly, the table service was excellent. The reason for one star is simply that the manager (whom I spoke to but who took no responsibility) clearly had no concept of training staff in how to deal with people waiting at the entrance. Simply put, it should be everyone’s responsibility, as soon as someone appears, to engage. Patrons understand that waits can occur, but in this case, we had a reservation, turned up and several staff saw us (including one delivering food beyond us to the bar). Then, whilst I ventured inside to complain, a staff member walked straight past my wife and sat the next couple and we then had to wait considerably longer than the promised ‘2 seconds’ to be seated. As we were being seated, I asked to speak to the manager. A man came over to ask if we wanted drinks and it was only when I asked if the manager was coming that he admitted to being the manager. He then ‘explained away’ what had happened by not being in the room and therefore not knowing what happened (implying he did not believe me) then refused to speak to me and tried to only speak to my wife.

You would imagine that any restaurant that has Marco Pierre White’s name associated with it would be first class. He would be sorely disappointed, as were we, at the food we were served for Sunday lunch. I could have cooked a better Sunday lunch myself. My starter arrived and when I asked 10 minutes later where my partner’s was, I was told it was on its way. After another request for her food, we were told that the waiter had forgotten to order it with my salad. We waited fifteen minutes for the onion soup to arrive, and when it did, it was tepid, with a piece of French bread and cheese on top, instead of croutons as described on the menu. They heated it up but it still wasn’t hot. When the main course arrived the green beans were tepid, my partner had to ask for the apple sauce, and when I asked for the mint sauce I was told they had run out. They reduced our bill without being asked, but we would have preferred the food to have been more palatable. Disappointing is an understatement and we certainly won’t be going back.

My brother always sends me a treat for the above as a birthday gift and the other places I have been to before have been fab.fully explaining what you get and making it very special for us. However this one was appalling . No one told us what the sandwiches and cakes were until I asked . We asked to move as my daughter I took with me is on the spectrum and she was uncomfortable with the first table choice which had a shoddy ripped booth seat anyway which the lady kindly accommodated and she was very nice and helpful although busy when we first arrived so had to wait for a bit to be seated which I appreciated the sorry she gave for that. The cups were filthy that were on the table so asked for them to be taken away . The sandwiches were very dry no sauces for example mayo on the egg or horseradish with the beef. Just plain filling with cheap butter on them . The cakes were not enjoyable I left the rock hard scones and even had to chase to ask for my glass of Prosecco as we had a sparkling afternoon tea on the voucher and had not been offered or given this . The hotel was part of the restaurant and I expected some better service considering the name. Was part of a business group for 2 nights. First night we had to ask 3 people when table was already booked prior before being shown to the table. For a vegetarian it had a few choices. First night I decided a cheese and tomato vine starter ( pic didn't come out) but it was not appetising at all. As mains I picked Mac cheese. Thinking simple dish cant go wrong, it was the worst. A massive dish nothing else, cheese was not crispy on top and wasn't cheesy as a Mac and cheese should be. Totally dry, lacked taste and flavour only ate the top part and had to ask for the cost to be taken off at the end otherwise I would have to pay for something which was not nice at all or was given an option for something else when I told them. Second day was a bit sceptical but thought it can't be bad, tried the tomato linguine. It looked nice but was luke warm and lacked the flavour and seasoning I expected in a simple dish. I was glad to order sides as back up, I ordered onion rings and chips these were better in taste and glad I ordered it otherwise it be two days with disappointment food and hungry belly. I've heard so much of the company and for simple vegetarian dishes I did not expect the lack of flavour and seasoning in the food. Was totally disappointed for the cost and expected better.

I wasn't expecting a huge selection being a vegetarian in Stakehouse - and I'm fine with that. My partner isn't a vegetarian and there was enough on the Vegan menu for me to get by. However, we found on arrival that of the four main options, three were unavailable. So it was chickpea curry or nothing for main. I know these celebrity chef restaurants are often a but of a marketing ploy but, even then, that isn't acceptable for me. I had a tomato soup starter. The soup was ok - nothing mind blowing but it was passable. The bread accompanying it wasn't nice. It was really sticky to the point I had to pick it out from between my teeth. The chickpea curry was, again, passable but really nothing special. I'm no chef but I could cook something equally tasty for 1/10th the price. My partner had the scotch egg starter and lamp for main. She enjoyed both but found the lamp a little rubbery - 7/10 she says. We didn't bother with desserts. The experience had all fallen a little flat by that point and we were happy to go off back to the room. The service throughout was very good. Couldn't fault our server at all and I had some sympathy as she seemed to be going table to table explaining things were available with every order. The decor is ok. As others have mentioned, the edgy photography of MPW on nearly every wall is a little weird/amusing. Why would a Sheffield hang a photo on the wall with him in chef whites with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth in front of diners? Arrogance to the extreme. The hotel is lovely and I'm sure we'll return again - but we would definitely go elsewhere for food next time.

We treated ourselves to a nice meal, knowing it was not going to be cheap. What did I expect? To be honest like a lot of fine dining restaurants they over promise and under deliver. My starter was calamari. It was undercooked and I have had better from the frozen section in a budget supermarket chain. My partner's prawn cocktail was like one I made for the first time aged 16! My main (fish and chips) would not rank in the top 10 fish and chip dishes I have had in my life. The chips were worse than frozen oven chips and the fish was so greasy it made me feel sick. It was quite sad really. My partner had a steak. The steak was nice, that's all we can say about this experience. Would I return? No!

It's a shame, because I expected a lot from this restaurant. With Marco Pierre White above the door, and on almost every single wall, one expects to be served quality meat cooked to perfection. This was sadly not the case. Stayed at the hotel, and have ZERO complaints about the hotel, it is excellent. Booked our second night in the MPW steakhouse, weekend after valentines day, dinner for two. Was informed by the main waiter we were assigned (about whom I have no complaints) that the ribeye does not render if cooked below medium, due to the meat being too fatty. Not the best start... One would expect a steakhouse endorsed and patroned by MPW to be able to manage a medium rare ribeye... But at least he told us. As someone who prefers a blue steak, I was disappointed but trusted the staff in the kitchen (a trust based entirely on the MPW patronage). When the food arrived, it was just one plate, and not brought by the waiter who was assigned to us. We waited several minutes for the other meal to arrive, before having to flag our original waiter down and find out where it was. It came out a couple of minutes after we'd asked. Then had to remind them of the peppercorn sauce. For 3.95, one does not expect the sauce to be delivered in a flattened porcelain thimble, and to have the consistency of bisto gravy when you add too much water. Alas, it was. The quality of the meat, too, was disappointing. Not much taste (although I could certainly taste the dirty griddle on which it was cooked...), not much texture other than chew... Not what you expect from a Marco Pierre White restaurant. And absolutely not worth £30+. The staff were nice, we tipped because our waiter was very polite, and when my other half's meal finally arrived and the tomatoes were cold, and the steak overcooked, he offered a new one. But we declined, because what is a belated valentines meal if you are forced to eat separately/let one meal go cold so as to eat together? Honestly, if you are staying at the hotel, take a wander (20 minutes) into Yatton and get something in one of their pubs. It will be cooked better, served better, and cost you half the price at most. You'll likely get more, too. And it might even all be hot! It's a real shame because we'd have ordered wine and desserts if the experience was enjoyable, but frankly, it left us feeling a little flat so we returned to our room once finished. You can't have MPW's name on your door and offer an experience like that. It's dishonest to do so, in my opinion. Absolutely will not return to the restaurant, but that won't stop us from returning to the hotel. There are some really lovely pubs in Yatton, and in future we will give our patronage to them. I recommend that you do the same. Don't waste your hard-earned salary on a hotel restaurant fleecing customers on the promise of Michelin star chef patronage, and delivering Hungry Horse-quality meals. You deserve better. Image shows my £31.50 meal. Without the flattened thimble of sauce because that didn't come for another seven minutes or so. The tomatoes were less than an inch, to help with scale. Avoid.

Visited this restaurant because Cardiff restaurant had been suddenly closed ! purchased Black Friday vouchers couldn’t get a refund so decided to come here. Nice interior fabulous views. That’s where it ends. Food was applauding restaurant was very quiet so expected freshly cooked food. My husband and I had steaks at £30 each. They were really poor cuts of meat, cheap and chewy. Chips that had been rewarmed god knows how many times they were full of oil and no substance, onion rings that the oil dripped off. Sauce served with the steaks was watery and cold, told when I complained that they were supposed to be served at room temperature, wouldn’t have minded but this was cold. Would never return to another MPW and would advise others to spend your money else where. You’re not getting a bargain purchasing any offers it’s a scam to get your money because all you get is poor quality food with little choice and have to travel miles to use them. We paid our bill because we had £100 in vouchers that were useless to us after this visit because of restaurants closure and duration they lasted for.

Firstly, I work here so slightly biased. I'm very picky about where I eat for a 'night out' meal. I expect very good food & good service. For this type of venue the food is exceedingly good and not badly priced - it's not cheap but not crazy expensive. Service was exceptional. Drink choice is varied and suits most tastes. Wide choice on food, my partner is diabetic and had no problem at all chosing 3 courses - that she didn't stop talking, the next day, about what she ate speaks volumes.

The occasion was an 18th birthday party. We arrived and ordered drinks for adults and children. It took 20 mins for adults drinks to arrive and then 30 mins for the kids drinks. The kids drinks were also wrong. The kids starter came out after the kids main and some drinks came out after the main food. The bill was also incorrect as it had extra drinks on that were not received. The food was good tho! Shame about the service.

Great service and lovely ambience in the restaurant. However, the food quality is very poor for the price. It was very much in line with average pub food. The macaroni cheese was very average and pretty bland, made with mild cheap cheese. I was expecting something more flavourful for the price. Burger also very average. Something needs to change as the reviews are very similar on here so they need to take note! It’s a shame as the restaurant has so much potential and the staff were wonderful. We recently moved round the corner but will not return, sadly.

Booked for Xmas lunch. Place was a good atmosphere BUT food was average. Waiter left his shift as finished for the day but no one took over so we were left, no table cleared, no pudding etc until we asked. The food was average but the vegetarian options were awful. This was offered as a option the main was the worst meal, chopped up carrots, swede and a few butter beans. It was tasteless. All in all really disappointing meal to book what we thought was a going to be a lovely treat xmas dinner. First time we have ever done this never do this again.

Was really looking forward to the Steak. Had it cooked medium rare and by appearances on the outside and after I cut into it, it looked like it was cooked to my liking. However, I have never had Steak so bad ever. I wasn't expecting 3 Michelin starred food, but when the Chef Patron is MPW you expect a steal to be cooked as well as a Steak could be cooked. I dont know what "the butchers block" cut is but it tasted like a leather flip flop. I didnt complain as i was there with 8 other people and didnt want my meal to out of sync with the rest of our party. I didn't take a picture because I only do that of food I have enjoyed. But please see a photo of the best Steak I have ever eaten at Steak Point, Vienna.

Good (but not excellent) food but not a huge variety overall. Though the onion soup was very good. The portions were generous. Service was reasonable. Prices are cheap but did quite reflect the quality of the food. But could be improved as the waitress was not that knowledgable about the menu or keeping up remembering some simple requests. Hence overall it is an expensive option for dining and not quite 5 stars.

Two visits to this restaurant during a four night stay. The first was a complete washout. £30 ribeye steak which had the quality of a Lidl bargain steak. It was chewy, tasteless and went back barely touched. I was then charged £8.95 for a piece of cheddar. Had a day off but returned because I’m staying at the hotel and thought it may be an anomaly. The staff are amateur-ish and don’t know their trade. I started with a scotch egg as I was ‘up-sold’ a £7.50 bottle of tap water. The starter looked ok but was so, so salty. It was floating on a see if ‘yellow stuff’ that I can only assume was salty salad cream; it had the consistency and appeal of dog sick - complete with bits of green vegetation. After eating most of it, I felt not so much ready for my main course as ready to go to rehab for a detox. The main course was a £19.85 burger called the ‘Alex James’. Appropriate really as the flavours were a complete blur. It was overly greasy and again, inexplicably salty. The chips were the saving grace in what was otherwise a Hungry Horse quality, over-priced and below average meal. A couple sitting near me were similarly non-plussed, discussing how salty the onion soup was. In short, a second meal I couldn’t finish after parting with £30.do yourself a favour here: get a cab to the local pub and don’t waste your money putting your heart under unnecessary strain from high-fat, high-salt meals. Verdict: grim

Avoid! Can't cook a steak correctly which, for an apparent steak house I find ridiculous. Sent out a rare steak instead of medium. Ended eating on my own as the family had finished by the time my main actually arrived. The steak was bitter due to it being most likely cooked on a dirty pan/griddle. Lots of chewy bits left on the plate. Never, ever again, will I go to an MPW establishment-except maybe for the scotch egg which was delicious but not what you go to a steakhouse for!

We were gifted a Groupon voucher of a 3 course meal for 2 people as a wedding present. We tried to make a booking and the lady on the phone was quite rude and difficult when we were trying to book. Felt like she was not familiar or interested in the voucher being sold and also was not interested in helping us find a solution as to when we could book. I had to phone the restaurant about 5 times to confirm what we had and when we could use it etc. They called us the day before and tried to cancel us but we insisted we need to come then as the voucher expired 3 days later, we couldn't use it on a Sunday or a bank holiday and not after 5pm!!!!!! We arrived at the restaurant and were asked by 2 different staff if we were there for an afternoon tea which we explained to both but they still sat us at a table set for the afternoon tea and asked us if we wanted tea or coffee. So we explained AGAIN why we were there. To be honest, after the faff we had making the booking, we did expect difficulty on the day!! So we were told that the menu printed on the voucher was not available and we were given a different menu to choose from. We had both set our hearts on a steak but soon changed our mind when we realised that we would have to pay an £8 supplement each!!! Bearing in mind that the voucher originally cost £60. We made our choices and when the food came out, we were pleased. My husband had the scotch egg to start which was a bit overcooked but he really enjoyed it. I had the vegan option (as I'm fussy) which was literally sliced beetroot with walnuts on top....Good job we had 2 more course to eat. Hubby had the burger which he enjoyed, but tbh was no different to any typical hungry horse or wetherspoons type burger. I had the chicken which was lovely, couldn't fault it. We both had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert which was absolutely gorgeous - especially the ice cream! All of the staff we met with today were lovely and helpful. The venue was very pretty but I have to say, there were two unisex toilets, one was out of action due to being blocked - no sign on the door or anything. We were there for nearly 90 minutes and nothing changed so we had to walk up a few floors to the hotel to use safe and clean toilets. Restaurant had a random pong of wet dog but really pretty views. To sum up our experience, we enjoyed our meal but from our own personal tastes, we would not visit again or recommend due to the outrageous price charged for quite average food!! And our overall experience was not the best, mostly because of the Groupon offer not being transparent and the staff that we spoke to on the phone originally making us feel like we were really difficult when trying to book!!!!!! I would suggest that if you were advertising offers on sites such as Groupon then educate your staff about them!!!!!!

Recently went to the restaurant on a midweek night with my wife. For a restaurant in such beautiful surroundings the service does not match. The servers are all very young and inexperienced. Took me 30 minutes to order a drink because different servers could not decide what was available and then the poor inability to open a bottle of wine correctly. No 16oz sirloin (why not offer 2 x 8oz) or fillet steak available in a steakhouse, that really made me laugh. The cost you pay for that service, when you could go into the village and have a better meal for half the price. They need to sort the staff and the availability of food out, if they want to compete with any good restaurants. I would certainly not recommend to anyone, until they can fix the basics.

Surprised at how bad these reviews are! I specially found this place on Google to review it after visiting yesterday. It is literally the best KFC I have ever had, first time I have had a hot and crispy chicken burger, clearly cooked fresh which was great. Tables were also clean despite it being relatively busy. I tend to find that KFC varies a lot between branches, but this is the best experience I have had so far, long may it continue!
