Lovely restaurant, lovely food, prices on the higher end but worth it. Was very quiet when we dined

Great steak and service was brilliant, not sure why it has so many bad reviews.

I haven't tried food, only beer. Prices are like at London centre bar.

A lot bad reference.. which I do understand. Prices are just higher than needed. Starting with some real good news. The wine. Tempranillo for 21,50 or so is just a great deal I get the Ribeye. I can't say it enough. If you bring a steak to a table. Get a sharp knife 🔪.. the "steak" knife I got. Was probably the cheapest you get at the Action. This in combination with high price steak is so wrong. It could hardly cut butter. But I did get a proper steak knife later. The steak.. really I was surprised. Was done as I order it just perfect... the thing is. Probably on a Thursday evening. So many steaks on the Menu. It was frozen. This is why it takes longer. And you can see the condensation water mixed with the blood. Something when just look on Internet..you can avoid and make it looks much more the right way. Because how this was done. It made a little more hard to cut I not have a problem with this. As long. It has a nice tast. And yes the tast was it should be. Small note. I keep getting confused. Crisp and fries. I think fries have a thinner cut. But ok.. and it looks just straight forward .. but her was a little disappointing.. it can be that hard. But it really is an important add on to the menu. If I was be involved. I would sit down ..get a good chips /fries or what name you want to give it. Give it an personal twist. Waiters are very helpful and over all, what do you need more. Must say. Looking at Google.. no restaurants close I would Looking forward to go 😉

We went for afternoon tea. A thoughtful gift from my son. It could have been wonderful; the sandwiches, tea and Prosecco were lovely. But it seems the hotel has no way of reading a QR code. Our meal kept being interrupted by requests to email our booking to the hotel (which we sent twice while seated). Eventually having to have it photographed off our phone. Then the cream for our scone was sour and inedible. And the whole of the event was accompanied by a loud commercial radio station blasting out adverts for car tyres and the like. Blooming shame really.

Overpriced, uncooked chips, size of fish not worth the price paid. Waiting time too long. We requested the sauces and the water when the mains was served , only got it after finishing the food. Waited another 20 mins for icecream to arrive,

So I was on a business trip staying at the Doubletree hotel partnered to the side of the restaurant. The food both nights was excellent. Really impressed with the scotch egg starter. More importantly was the friendly staff. I’m a pretty awkward guy and sitting in a restaurant on your own can be pretty intimidating. The staff get the marks for a perfect balance of attentiveness along with pace of service and friendliness. Not only that but good communication. This restaurant and my experience was made up by the staff. I should hope this finds the attention of the management in charge to forward their praises on to a great team. Especially considering one poor staff member was at the brunt of my accidental dropping of the card reader leading to me spilling coffee over the meeting desk. He was very graceful in the matter. Today’s society is driven to only highlight people’s failures. It’s important to highlight excellent service too. I attended the 11/3/24 and 12/3/24 so hopefully the respective staff that worked those evenings can get the corresponding praises.

Pork alla Milanese. If Marco experienced what I did, he would sack the chef! A slab of pork in breadcrumbs with garnish on top. I'm not a food snob I just happen to have experienced authentic Italian Milanese and a 1/2" thick slab of pork doesn't cut the mustard. It should come with an Italian sauce, sadly it wasn't on the option list. However, the waiter did offer Heinz ketchup. Please travel 8 miles further south and have some authentic Sicilian food at Sicily on Sheffield Rd (Monica and Pepe) Don't waste your hard earned cash at this establishment. Gets a 1 star as eating out is all about the food. I can suffer dire service is food is very good

Where to start! You would think that mr White would know how to make a classic Caesar salad. Well he doesn’t seem to. Unsalted anchovy fillets are completely wrong. They should be salted to give some counterpoint to the dressing. The dressing is obviously not freshly made as the ‘chef’ had no idea what was in it. It was completely anaemic. How hard is it to fry up some bread to make the obligatory croutons. Too hard for this uncaring establishment it seems, as mine were out of a packet. Billed as Wheeler’s fried calamari. There were six coin sized rounds on my plate. Mr White is obviously as tired of this business as the life size photo of him shows in the entrance. A place to avoid

Food was very expensive for what I got. Had fish and chips in the restaurant which were running in grease. Stayed with group of people at organised function. Meals apart from first night provided. The beef was tough and the pork the following night I couldn’t cut. Leeks weren’t cooked properly. Soup and dessert ok but would not go again.

Cant quite work out why the overall review is so low other than picky customers. Steak was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly, slightly on the pricey side but you pay for what you get

Avoid One of the worse restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. We are foodies and go to restaurants frequently. We don’t often complain about for food or service, but on this occasion we had to. As you’d expect by the name of the restaurant and the prices, it would be an amazing experience… sadly it was not. Upon arrival we over heard a table complaining, but thought nothing of it at the time. I ordered roast chicken, which was average. My partner ordered a fillet stake, rare. This was the second most expensive item on the menu. His arrived over done, close to well-done. Sent it back hoping for a fresh one, but instead we were told that “it’s the lighting in the restaurant, it is rare.”. We were offered something else off the menu as if we ordered it again it would be the same. Very rude, really didn’t want to help us. It put me off my meal so I didn’t eat. It also took over 40 minutes to receive our food, then another 30 minutes to get the replacement dish. Thankfully a senior waiter kindly took the stake and my dish off the bill. Unfortunately we will not be coming back again. Its just a bad hotel restaurant. I’d honestly say you’d get better food and service at Weather Spoons.

We visited for or afternoon tea . The venue was quiet clean but we did notice a few stains on the window sill and carpet around our table . The waitress was very polite . It was nice to have proper linen table cloth , napkins and cutlery . This made it into an occasion , as we were celebrating my friend's retirement . The tea was served in an unusual container , within an empty wooden drawer . There were two each of four sandwich fillings , all served on white bread . These were all moist and fresh. However , a variety of breads would have improved this aspect . The scones were shop bought, not made on site , which was suprising as it was within a restaurant . Individual pots of quality strawberry jam . The amount of cream provided however, was quite stingy . Only one very small glass shot glass full between two. We also got two mini slices of three different cakes . The chocolate and the lemmon ones were lovely but the carrot cake was too dry to eat . We had a choice of tea , which came in china pots . Refills were provided , when requested . The waitress forgot the prosecco but brought it when prompted . In all an adequte afternnon tea but quite pricey My friend and I enjoy afternnon tea and have had much better elsewhere . We would not return to this venue .

Well I was looking forward to a nice meal ,wine choice very average ,only 2 waiting staff one of which dropped my knife and fork on my lap . Opted for a 10z ribeye steak came out on the plate with just 3 tomatoes that’s it no veg etc with a side order of under cooked enemic chips .below average and will not be returning ,its more marco Pierre hsite white ,very disappointed

Have tried this franchise before elsewhere in the South and been moderately underwhelmed but dinner here in Sheffield was excellent. The French Onion soup was authentically flavoured, and the ribeye steak as good as one I have had in the last couple of years cooked exactly as requested, tender and great taste. The chips were spot on too. Accompanied by a modest Rioja which also pleasantly surprised. Previously reviews suggested the music was intrusive and I was surprised when a passing comment to the MD led to an instant reduction in volume!

What a different experience from last time! This was are 3rd visit to the restaurant and was the best by far the hole exspiriance from start to finish was amazing, the food was brilliant and the staff was amazing will definitely be returning when in the area. Connor, your team where outstanding

Had a tea, bread was dry, cakes were ok. Deffo not worth the money £40 with a woucher, god knows what it cost without.

Wasn't expecting much given the 3.4 star rating, but we were staying at the hotel so went anyway. Very pleasantly surprised, senior waiter was very good, food was good. Good children's menu. Only suggestion would be that the music was a little too loud.

Decor getting dated and in need of some tlc. Food good, but there are better and cheaper alternatives in Sheffield. Lovely staff-particular thanks to our waiter, Joe. Lovely guy. Glad I went for my bday, but would t go again.

I stayed at Double Tree hotel where restaurant is based. My hunch was to eat out as hotel food in the Uk is normally pretty disappointing. However against my judgment I thought I would give the restaurant a go. This has to be one of the most underwhelming dining experiences I have had in a while. It didn’t start well. I ordered smoked salmon to start. It was served with what I can only describe as savers brown bread. Salmon was ok. I ordered fillet steak for main. Fillet was cooked well, but tough for fillet. Chips could have been oven chips really nothing special. Not impressed and would definitely give this restaurant a miss if I ever came back to Double Tree. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful.

Booked the meal for me and my partner to celebrate our first valentines Day. Meal was excellent and service was excellent. Thank you for making our night an enjoyable one. We will definitely be revisiting.

Food wasn’t bad but unfortunately mixed the steaks up (one medium rare and one medium) Service however was diabolical. January 50% off offer doesn’t cover steaks only main courses which isn’t explicitly clear in the small print. No knowledge of wines/beers available, food coming out in dribs and drabs 5 mins apart. Ignored by servers who didn’t come back to the table after clearing main course plates away. Not worth the service tip that gets put on the bill at the end. Won’t return - £100 spent for not an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely awful, steak was all fat and grizzle , as it was a voucher we weren't offered any starters or desserts , wouldn't go there again we weren't the only ones there that were disappointed and complained

We visited as a couple. Christmas gift from our daughter First the Groupon voucher wasn't recognised Then sorted Had 2 steaks with about v7 chips 4 tomatoes steak tough and rubbery hard to chew. Offered no sides No taste to steak staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there All in all very disappointing will not return were offered complimentary coffee declined Was told it was the butchers not the chef. With so many bad reviews on steak quality. I would be changing my butcher

The food is far too expensive for what it is. I had the burger, and it tasted good, but the price was excessive.

It started badly when, for a business dinner, I asked for a quiet and discrete table... only to have a 'sigh' and roll of eyes as the response, then a "but it is set for breakfast"... it was 7pm... the place was two thirds empty. Not a good start, and then came the food... oh dear. For c£250 (incl. wine) I can't say how disappointed we were. Food was not as hot as should have been, and the ribeye's were gristle laden and too tough. We managed to jolly along the staff to try and turn around the atmosphere... I think they forgot that was their job... and can't state strongly enough to anyone thinking of booking here for an 'occasion'... don't. The hotel bar food is just fine, and less than half the price.

Well don’t go !!! After booking for 2 birthdays for 6 adults and 4 children. What can I say the meal was awful I have never given a negative review or never not left a tip but this is on another level of feeling ripped off. We were asked to pre order our food before our Sunday evening visit, there were a handful of other guest in the restaurant we waited a while for starters very mediocre to say the least, then mains were absolutely awful steaks not cooked as asked for , the chicken had a really strange texture to it making it inedible all served on cold plates so food was cold too. My grandson ordered chicken crunch to start with and when his main meal came chicken Goujons it was the exact same as his starter. Very very disappointed as this was a family celebration I told the waitress how disappointed we were I did actually feel sorry for the staff they seemed to be over stretched even though there weren’t many people eating. They did take the kids meals off the bill and we didn’t stay for the desert we won’t be back. And Marco Pierre White I think you need to address your restaurants as a well renowned chef it’s not good for the high prices charged GIVE IT A MISS !!

Ran out of large steaks by 7:30 on a Saturday…poor. Flies EVERYWHERE Noisy hen nights Noisier conference attendees Staff didn’t keep anyone in line, it was loud, dirty, plates were left out for 20 minutes… Told the manager we were unhappy and he didn’t care....

This is supposed to be a steakhouse. Right... I ordered the rib eye medium. They could not do mixed veg so ordered spinach and peas to do it own mixed veg. The steak arrived and was blue and really tough and stringy. They have obviousliously not prepared nor cooked the meat properly. I could not eat it so sent it back. The waiter said that they will cook my meat more. I said thanks but I'm not eating that piece that was not the quality I would expect. Another piece of rib eye arrived. Sigh... rare stake. Ok... I'll try eating it but it was so tough and stringy you could not cut it. Even with a steak knife... because the chips were on my plate it wasn't returned so had to ask for more. It arrived but at this point I have given up with the steak. I sent it back again and told them I don't want a replacement. I ordered gnocchi instead - staying well cleared from anything meat. Surely they could not mess this up. Erm... snotty gnocchi arrived soaked in what tasted like canned tomato gravy. Not nice. I also asked for parmesan... never arrived. I had to use cutlery which I took from the table next to me. There was also flies. Urgh.... Annoying whilst eating... Marco PW would hang his head in shame. Would not eat her again. Ever, not any other MPW restaurant frankly...

Bad service flies round my food not happy

The disgraceful food was matched by the service - twice our steaks were wrong - the first time well done (asked for medium rare) the second time it was so rare it could have been given the kiss of life - the ‘manager’ was not interested and as me and my partner are in our early 30s he extremely condescendingly asked us if we knew what a medium rare steak was- the flys seemed to enjoy the food though -AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Awful, DO NOT GO. Made the mistake of not checking the reviews, don’t believe the good ones. Atmosphere was grim, felt like a mix between a funeral and a gta loading screen. Food was bad/mediocre, especially for the price you pay. Website says they have a range of cocktails, they don’t do cocktails. Service was ok but not very attentive. Also the calamari was just squid rings, literally no batter on them like how do you mess that up so badly. If I could give this minus stars I would but 1 star is the lowest they go.

What a shambles! I have never in my life had such a terrible steak!! Myself, my father and a friend visited for dinner. Starters of calamari and scotch egg where very nice and we where anticipating a nice steak . NOT THE CASE !! 2 medium rare sirloin came ,both came v v well done , I asked the waitress to change as can't eat overdone due to digestive problem which she did . She only came back with my father's steak vv w/d and gave to me . ☹️ At this point I got a bit annoyed , being a chef myself I was flabbergasted how this was happening. They replaced the 2 pieces of fallout with one medium rare ( father) and another fallout disaster for me . So after 3 attempts I gave up . Later while at the bar in the hotel I see the problem , the chef/ cook/ porter looked intoxicated. MPW group need to address this issue . I have eaten numerous times in other outlets and always great standards . The only nice thing about the experience was the waitress who only a student handled it very professionally and deserves a commendation .

The food was great, the lamb was excellent, the only problem was it took about 1 & 1/2 hr to receive the main. Very slow. When I told the server at the end that the food was great it was just very slow to come out, she said oh sorry I should of mentioned it’s freshly cooked to serve, I mean I expect that but I don’t think it takes that long to cook lamb. Just been for a Groupon steak & wine meal. The staff were lovely, the ambience was very nice & the wine was very good. The presentation looked good. The steak was almost inedible, it was so grissly only 50% was edible. I wouldn’t even have fed it to my dogs! We ordered some onion rings as a side, they had their skins on and so were extremely chewy! At a cost of £50 it definitely wasn’t worth it. This was a Christmas present from our daughter and son in law and I don’t know how to tell them! I definitely wouldn’t recommend it!

I have eaten here 3 time now and each experience has been individually bad for different reasons. The service is always slow, you are not made to feel welcome and the food is on par with a slug and lettuce pub at best.

Don't bother going to this restaurant, my friend and I had a spa night and a 3 course meal was included at this place. Not a lot to choose from and had to pay £12 more for a sirloin steak or a burger (it wasn't even £12 more if I was to order from normal menu to what I got!). Got a little rubbish bit of cheese on toast for starter, my friend ordered medium steak and I ordered medium rare, both came out and my friends was very rare, mine was more done (seemed this was just the case for the ends) so we swapped and as she got more in the middle the steak was practically blue, our plates were dripping in red meat juices. Very weird set up also, one waitress and the chef was also doing waiter service he sat us to our table, there were only 6 in the whole restaurant and they was rushed of their feet! We complained about the steak, and from looking at other reviews they don't know how to cook a steak great, they should nail it every time with being a 'steakhouse' and a famous chef having his name under the door, no wonder the one in Leeds shut down after a few months, glad I didn't bother going.

Oh my goodness what has happened to this restaurant? I used to eat here several times a year on business trips, and always found the experience a good one. But my trip last week was absolutely awful! - The service was all over the place....

Cold, dry steak. Out of date mushrooms. Waitresses are quick to blame all the problems on other members of staff rather than taking responsibility and apologising. Restaurant has no atmosphere what so ever, no music etc! Dirty glasses with lipstick marks and hairs on them....

So I've just had my Rib eye steak removed from my bill.. Can't rate this restaurant as although booked into the hotel at around 4.30pm no one mentioned that a table needed to be booked. When I walked in with 2 colleagues was told fully booked despite half the tables being empty. Poor.

Horrid food with the steak chewy and disgusting, the linguine had a tin canned sauce on it and the gnocchi had the same tin sauce as well as being overcooked and sloppy. Furthermore, the service was poor as when the food arrived the waitress dropped some of the food when she was trying to serve it to us.

Located in the Sheffield Doubletree. I really wasn't impressed. The staff was a bit overwhelmed, but the manager was very helpful and engaged. Steaks were overcooked. Luckily we order a shade under so overcooked isn't burnt, but a steakhouse should get it right especially with filled. Several items were out of stock 'due to COVID'. The macaroni and cheese was flavorless and was essentially macaroni with a runny cream.

It was a very plain food for the price. Misleading in the menu. Omg! Linguine with tomato sauce... the tomato sauce taste as Tesco’s...warm and serve with under cooked pasta. I expected much more for the price. It is a shame. I gave 2 stars because the service and the wine menu was very nice. I won’t go here never again The dish in the picture was advertised as Escalope Milanese with linguine as a side.

Very poor show from a famous Chef. Not that pricey but basic food for quite a price. Steak ( Medium) was over Well done, Shepherds Pie was 20mm deep and mostly potato with a small pot of peas. More loving himself than loving good food. Shame Marco.

Visited with the family a few years ago, it was terrible and made my dad very ill. The manager stank and the plates were dirty

Basic menu with basic but decent food. Don't let the big chef name above the door and high prices fool you into thinking you'll get something special, you won't. It's a shame the impeccable service provided by the staff has to be let down by everything else.

Not really worth it. The food was kinda plane but overpriced. I would say the steak was slightly better than the rest but you will get a better steak elsewhere. The resturant is located in a hilton hotel so unfortunately your choice of food is either this or the bar. Overall poor experience but maybe its better when they have more staff.

Visited here after being big fans of Marco’s food & restaurants, having visited the old Sheffield site least once a week till it closed. After this visit I wouldn’t choose to return or recommend anyone bother because your not loosing out. It’s a reduced menu...

Awful from start to finish. The waitress didnt know the difference between the different types of steak and said ‘they all come from a cow’ instead of going to ask about our questions. 2 hours for the mains to come out with a fire alarm...

Avoid. Ridiculous, staff basically argued and gave us attitude and played the excuse card. 2 hours for main course and all they could say was ‘ahhhh, sorry’

Very poor food was cold. Steak was very under done. Wasn't even given a steak knife and took nearly an hour and half to get food. Get your staff back off furlough its what eat out to help out is there for not to line your pocket. You can learn something from Miller and Carter

Made the most of the "eat out to help out" and booked at Marco's, The set menu has something that would appeal to anyone's palate and the restaurant decor is neutral and sophisticated. We were only slightly disappointed that they had a limited stock of wine so that hampered our choice.but the staff were very professional and attentive, the food was delicious and everyone was complimentary about their dish. My only complaint was that when my cheeseboard arrived, it came with just a blue cheese and not the cheddar(which they did explain as it came out) and it was accompanied with a picalily and not the "fig chutney" it just didnt work together and l certainly am no food consieur but even l felt that was a school boy error. Still an enjoyable evening none the less.
