Excellent food, (mussels/baked Camembert to start. Shared a tomahawk steak for me main. Crumble/sticky toffee pudding for dessert). Excellent service from our server Alexandria. We used vouchers from our anniversary which made for a great all round night.

Fantastic venue with views to die for, delicious food and excellent service from Paul and his team but what else would you expect from a M P W restaurant.

I don’t mind the price but the food is too low quality taste like ms express food the bread look like the £1 bag of bread to be honest street food is far more better the food serve in this restaurant. Visited the Marco Pierre White at the Crowne Plaza hotel whilst we stayed. TLDR: Had a most excellent visit aside from a few very minor issues. The food was excellent and in abundance. I was very happy with the scotch egg dish as well as the enormous onion rings (although lacking a lot of flavour). I also had the Gratin Dauphinois which was a highlight. The rest of my table thoroughly enjoyed their dishes (steaks and a fish dish). It did take a little while to arrive but we expected this may be due to some of the dietary requirements. We also sometimes struggled to get the attention of the waiting staff to make requests or enquiries and on one request we didn't get the item we asked for but these were very minor issues. Overall an excellent experience and would recommend highly. Thank you once again to the patient manager and staff for a memorable experience.

I would like to start this review with saying how kind, Friendly and hard working the waiting staff are at this restaurant, but unfortunately that's where the good points end. The restaurant was lovely with amazing views and so we ordered our food. I chose the Tiffin curry , I was excited to try it with the promise of fresh mango and ginger , it sounded amazing. The curry arrived at the table - what a let down, sat on my plate was a small ramekin of rice and a small bowl of what looked like chip shop curry sauce! I was so dissapointed, there was no garnish, no nan bread , not even a pot of mango chutney - this was Marco Pierre White , I had imagined all sorts of special touches/extras but nothing! The curry was bland and was the quality and look of a Chinese take away curry, I was so dissapointed, it certainly hadn't seen and fresh mango or ginger! My daughter ordered the fish & chips, the fish was just a grey mush in batter, there was no lovely flakey pieces like you would have expected for the price, just awful low grade fish! We have had nicer fish from the chip shop! My husband had steak , he said it was cooked ok but there was quite a bit of gristle running through it and nowhere near as nice as the steak he had in the restaurant Miller & Carter the night before. Whilst we were in the restaurant we witnessed 3 other customers send their steaks back to the kitchen as they were overcooked and tough. A girl on the table oppisite us was sawing with her knife desperately trying to cut her steak, eventually when she got a piece into her mouth , she spat it back out, because she couldn't even chew it. Our experience of this restaurant was really bad, it was such a shame because we had lovely staff, beautiful views but very over priced low grade food, quite honestly Marco Pierre White should be embarrassed to have his name associated with such poor food and for the prices the restaurant charges there needs to be a serious shake up in the kitchen department on providing a higher standard of quality food!! I would definitely not return or recommend.

Food, service and drinks were all very nice, will definitely return for another visit as we enjoyed it very much. Too nice not too.

Food was amazing as always very friendly staff. We were served by Harry, very knowledgeable about the menu, very efficient and friendly :) we will be back. I also had a free glass of champagne as it was my birthday :)

We booked an afternoon tea for 20 people for a 90th Birthday surprise. The staff were brilliantly accommodating, fabulous sense of humour. The food was scrumptious, all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Amazing views. Thank you so very much!!

Wonderful Resteraunt, great staff, view and superb food!

There is no alternative to dairy on their starters, as apparently all their food is pre prepared.... Their goats cheese is apparently cheaper than their bacon..... A swap goes against their allergen policy.... And it would be creating a new menu.... at least this was the four different excuses I was given as to why they could not accommodate my allergy that they so neatly have cards printed for..... Swapping butter for olive oil in the spinach side is fine though 🙄 Well at least that's what they told me this time round... Last time however nothing was two much trouble.... But then the head chef wasn't in, so clearly whoever was offering great customer service on that previous occasion was obviously breaking the rules. Shame as Christian the waiter was consistently good on both occasions and the food was nice the first time. This time didn't get to eat, whilst waiting for the many stages of in situ complaint restaurant manager, hotel manager etc (hence the many different excuses) I was then pressured into we only have one of the dishes I wanted left (Still early evening) I can only assume in an effort to shut me up. If I wanted to eat at a pre proportioned restaurant where every meal carefully matches the till, I would have gone to a Harvester. And had more choice.... Meat and salad are never a problem there at least. Oh and to add insult to injury, a complaint online after the fact takes two week for the same manager, Shauna I believe, to eventually respond to say sorry you were disappointed and we do not recall not being able to swap the spinach, well that as I said above is because you can make swaps but only if your head chef feels like allowing a customer to create a suitable alternative dish. Next time please actually read my written complaint. Pretty sure their website states a quicker response required, and Marco must be so proud of the extended attention to detail. This restaurant plays on a good chefs name and decent view it seems. But if you have allergies or food requirements so many better places to eat. Disappointing 😕

Beautiful view and lovely staff but unfortunately the food was a dried up tasteless sandwich and chips! How can anyone get a club sandwich so wrong? I wish I had gone to marks and Spencer's and bought a sandwich from there! Come on Marco Pierre do you really think your lunch time food is of an acceptable standard? Very very disappointed 😞

Extremely disappointing service and food. Save your money and go-elsewhere. Acclaimed 3 star Michelin chef Marco Pierre White! How exciting to be visiting one of his restaurants for afternoon tea!! Even at the eye watering 20 pounds a head it was worth trying. Well, nothing had been baked freshly. It looked like cheap packet goods were used. The scones were small and hard, sandwiches tasteless with zero fillings and the cakes were dry and uninviting. The two service staff were unhelpful, complained that they had to “make it all myself” (coffee), even an order for earl grey tea was a bit much to accommodate. The words ‘Indulgent, luxurious, charming, freshly baked and delicious’ were on the website, well NO, NO, NO, NO AND NO.

We went for afternoon tea for my sister's birthday and the food was lovely l would have preferred a choice of sandwiches but this is only down to personal preference. The service was excellent and Christian who served us was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable when l asked him some questions. Couldn't have been more helpful. My sister was also very happy when she was given a complimentary glass of prosecco for her birthday. Thank you. 😊

Service was the worst experienced in the past 2 years. Drinks and food order given in the first 5 minutes, BUT first course too 50 minutes. Second course of just cheese and creme brulee another 40 minutes! Total of 2 hours for 2 courses. MD was impersonal and very brief. Not a good experience. Overrated and not a service experience. Stay away - it's not worth the wait!

Bought a Groupon for a gift for someone to eat here. Unfortunately the company behind MPW had listed Plymouth as one of the venues for this dining experience by mistake. So they refused to honour the booking and said we'd have to get a refund from Groupon. Very poor.

Disappointing….very slow service with inattentive and slightly rude staff. Shown to table and waited for 20 minutes before a drink order was taken. Noticed other tables had similar wait time too. Food ok except for 12oz fillet steak that was over seasoned (way too salty) should have complained and sent it back but that’s not our style. Won’t eat here again even if we stay at the Crown Plaza again.

Spent 30 pounds on roast chicken that took over an hour to come that was so dry and the sauce was so salty made me feel Ill. And the waiter was really rude when we complained about the food. I’ve had school dinners better than the food here 😂

I went here for my birthday today and it made my day. Paul our server was amazing, so helpful and sweet really made my experience special. ❤️ they sang me happy birthday and were all so lovely especially Paul. Food was lovely and cocktails amazing. Great old fashioned. Would defo recommend and go again 👌

Quite possibly the worst meal I've had in a long time, and definitely not cheap. Ordered the chicken forestiere. Chicken ok but tiny portion, instead I had a plate full of frozen spinach and what I suspect was also frozen not fresh mushrooms. It was supposed to be served with confit potatoes but there was only one slice of potato and just a huge mass of chopped frozen spinach. The spinach and mushrooms were warm but absolutely not fresh. I ended up eating the chicken but leaving the veg as it was inedible. Ordered a sticky toffee pudding which was ok but I suspect had not been cooked fresh either. I can't believe that for the price of eating at this place that the chefs can't serve freshly cooked food. Will never eat here again. I might as well have eaten at wetherspoons if I'm going to be served reheated food!

Firstly I must say the food was good. We had a main course each and were both happy with the food. Sadly the service on the day let everything down. The service was not attentive, slow and forgot parts of the order that never arrived. It was a lunch time and wasn't really busy but still we left feeling disappointed with the service.

I was staying at the hotel and ordered room service as I was on my own and not feeling very well. The food was fairly quick, well presented and hot. Unfortunately it was very bland. I have given 3 stars for the service. Sergio took my order and was very friendly, polite and helpful (I asked about portion sizes). He was also polite and professional on delivering the food to my room.

Very average food not what you would expect from MPW. Food ok if you haven't got a good allergy or intolerance. There were Coeliac's dining also and the choice and availability was very limited. Very good card system showing the person's food intolerance. Over-priced for what you got, seemed more like prepared, shipped in food than fresh chef prepared, more like up market pub chain food. Nice friendly staff. Would I recommend it no not really.

Lovely lunchtime meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary, amazing views of Plymouth. Our waiter Christian, was very attentive and made us feel very relaxed, also gave us a complimentary Prosecco as it was our anniversary.

Not what I expected from a top chef, it was more like an up market wetherspoons. No full options for coeliac/ lactose diets. Very disappointed. Lovely staff, poor value for money, nice setting. The Crowne Plaza ought to reconsider who they rent space too. Marco ought to look at what he's doing too, not really chefs but warmer uppers.

Staying at the Crowne plaza and came for dinner. Was greeted warmly by Francesca who showed us our table overlooking the town. Brandon our server was attentive and helpful when we asked questions. Service overall was great and even the food runners were super polite. Food we had Scotch Egg: cooked fresh and was delicious Tart of mushrooms (special) : delicious but could do with more sauce but personal preference Mains Lamb: Cooked perfectly pink - small downside was 2 tiny potatoes but husband demolished it fast enough! Chicken foriestiere: delicious succulent chicken - sauce was nice and rich- a lot of spinach but ate all Overall visit : 9/10 We will be revisiting

We saw the reviews on Trip Advisor regarding Paul and the quality of the food - having now ate at the restaurant, I can confirm that Paul is amazing and truly elevates your experience at the restaurant. Highly recommend.

Had a great meal last night, great food and wine. The service was also great and didn't feel rushed. The only thing we didn't like was the discretionary 10% tip. You can ask for it to be removed but it makes you feel uncomfortable, although we did and left what we felt was the right amount without being told what to leave.... Overall a lovely evening.

Restaurant itself was lovely and the views were amazing! Unfortunately was sat next to drunken bullies seemingly taking photos of complete strangers and belittling them. However aside from that, had a pleasant evening. All made better by our waiter Paul!

we where 6 people for afternoon tea the presentation of the venu excellent the food very good the staff couldnt do enough the Maltese man in charge excellent plenty of room very warm amazing views could have been 2 scones per person on plate their was plenty of fresh cream 2 much infact could have service 2 scones the children enjoyed the tea and service the music mazing trully relaxing meal could have been just a few more sandwiches on top to give it a wow factor yes very nice salmon very nice,and the Calmari very fresh welldone all just afew adjustments to meal to make it a Wow factor thankyou

Great food with even better service. Plenty of choice and a nice clear view of the sea. Paul made our night even more special with his great service from helping us decide a winner in rock paper scissors to explaining some items on the menu. Will definitely come again. 7pm Dinner service

Porterhouse steak for two was so so tough and sinewy we couldn't cut it with steak knives. Eventually gave up and sent it back to kitchen. Replacement sirloin was tough dry overcooked and tasteless. Back ground music far too loud. Staff were friendly however. Keep staff, change butcher.

The restaurant is very very cold and you must keep your jumper or coat on. Took over 40 minutes before we had drinks. Seemed understaffed and we were in restaurant over an hour just to get a main and a dessert and two soft drinks....

We had arranged a friends baby shower here with afternoon tea. Prior to our booking we were very well looking after by Brittany who helped to organise our day! When we got there on the morning to decorate before the rest of our party arrived, we were looked after by Dan who was brilliant nothing was too much, and he was so helpful making sure we had everything we needed. They catered for vegetarians and took anyone who had any allergies very serious, we felt very well looked after. Was a perfect day, and extremely helpful staff, and the afternoon tea was lovely.

Good, attentive service. Tasty starters. Average mains. Cocktail very watery & undrinkable. Nice dessert. Good wine. Good atmosphere, great views. Comfortable temperature until 9pm, when temperature dropped considerably.

A massive thank you to Katie and the team for helping make my daughter's tenth birthday a memorable one. She loved the mocktail and table decorations Katie provided, none of which were prompted by me! Thanks again, we will be back.

The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Service was good, however, the staff seemed rushed. The food was mediocre and missing the love. I ordered grilled plaice a la forestiere. The fish was good, steamed rather than grilled and the rest of the ingredients, spinach, mushrooms and watercress not seasoned at all. As a side I had Gratin dauphinoise which was quite nice but other than that, it really did not feel like a cohesive dish. I am not one to complain about restaurants, but I had high expectations, and I was not satisfied. Probably not going to come back.

Great service but food was just above wetherspoons standard. How can any half decent chef turn a really good bit of meat into a chewy raw steak when requested medium well. Windows were covered in dirt as well as dust and old food on the floor. 10 out 10 for the service but the rest was mediocre.

Unfortunately all the hype, all the glamour for a bland tasteless meal. The steaks were poor, tasteless and unfilling. Food overall abysmal. The service Unfortunately wasn't great. The young lady tonight was polite and well mannered however the gentleman we had as our waiter for the majority of the evening missed the mark. Yes of course he did the normal bits and pieces but he was at times away with the fairies and for some reason off with the female guests. Now the steaks came out about 5 minutes before the chips so you find yourself waiting. The drinks were overpriced. I cannot stress how bland the food was. It tastes nearly of nothing. Then the added service charge almost £40. Sorry but your arnt that high enough to charge such prices. After all the hype. We tried. We didn't like. And won't be back again. Miller and carter definitely are better and ahead of the game.

I can't under the mixed reviews on T.A. This place is superb! We took advantage of the 50% lunch menu and had an outstanding meal (fillet steak for £15!!!!) . The staff were suitably attentive, the setting was stylish and the food was delicious. Fabulous...

Had a lovely afternoon meal and cocktails with my husband. The food and drinks are amazing. I like to mention Christian that made and served us was a very pleasant waiter.

We had a wonderful experience at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill. Myself and my wife came with my disabled dad and sister and nothing was too much hassle for the wonderful staff. Paul greeted us to start with and he was friendly and fun. We were then waited on by Darcey for the night and she was fantastic. Knowledgeable about the menu and brilliant with recommendations. She was charismatic, friendly and nothing was too much hassle. The setting of the restaurant is stunning and the food is well worth the price, I'd especially recommend the Scotch Egg to start with and Chicken for main. All in all a wonderful evening and thanks again for your hard work and service.

Had a lovely family meal with my mum. The table was decorated for my mum. The girls serving us were fabulous. Couldn’t do enough - my mum absolutely loved them. They sang Happy Birthday and brought out her dessert with a candle. Excellent burgers - would have liked a wider choice if I’m honest. But didn’t spoil the meal.

Belated birthday meal for son and his wife, we all agreed this was the best we had eaten here having regularly visited over the last 5 years. The food was excellent, perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and staff were great.

We have stayed at the hotel many times but never bothered with the restaurant as we always thought it was just 'a bit of a gimmick', the man himself has probably never been! Well this time we had dinner and you know what it does not matter if he has or hasn't, the setting is of course excellent, over looking Plymouth Sound, the décor is lovely and lighting great in the evening. The food is excellent French onion soup was delicious and the lamb I had was cooked really well. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful so overall it was a great experience. Hotel guests got 10% off as well so quite a result. (Shame he was not there, best chef to ever come from the UK!).

Tonight we had a table of 18. Sat before 1730, left around 2030. The people serving were attentive and obliging but there were clearly problems meeting orders, plus the quality of food was poor, with several dishes going back and many others not sending them back for fear of delay. Between servings some were waiting a good 30 or 40 minutes and that was after prompts. In fact between main and dessert we were waiting over 60 mins for the entire course. The quality of food was no where like what we have had on two previous occasions, before I would have praised this place. Genuinely a well known lower std chain would have been more consitant which is a real shame to say. Even from the start, after ordering drinks, some people were still waiting for a bottle of wine to the table after the starters were arriving - thats weird isn't it. The management of a large table was clearly a struggle, you would think moving all servers for 10 mins to blitz would have been the right thing. The cocktails were gd, that's possibly the best point I can mention. Our host spent a lot of money, well over £40 per person on food, probably more like 75 to 100 with drinks, not worth it by any means.

When we arrived there is a main menu up outside the restaurant with a good variety of choices. However we were given a new lunchtime menu which had just been introduced and had a number of choices were missing and NOT on the website. We found it hard to choose something and this was somewhat disappointing. Overall the food was ok but for those prices, we expected something outstanding! On a good note Darcey the waitress was lovely and attentive. I’ve attached both menus

We enjoyed a very nice Afternoon Tea today. Food and service were fantastic. Only down side is that they have gone cashless and would not accept cash. I do not support a cashless society but it was a good experience none the less.

The service from staff was great and they were helpful and lovely, however, we were in the restaurant for 3 hours total as it took such a long time for the food to come out.. even though we'd pre ordered. The food was ok but pretty standard, I'd compare it to basic pub food. And for those prices, we expected something outstanding!

Appalling! One of our party of four is vegetarian and allergic to red peppers. It appears there is red pepper in the cooking oil so he could have nothing except a salad (on a December evening)! He was prepared to settle for a mushroom omelette but the chef refused to make it!! The other staff were great and completely mortified but could do nothing. Go elsewhere.

Stayed at the crowne plaza November 2023 for my partners birthday and because we had plans in Plymouth the next day. Arrived and check in and found the menu for the Marco Pierre White restaurant offering room service so thought be nice to enjoy from the comfort of our own room while looking out over the city. This was a Sunday afternoon around 4pm so didn't think would be too busy and sure enough the food arrived to us within half an hour. All can say is what arrived was honestly the worst meal me and my partner have ever had. The lamb was so tough and full of gristle it was literally inedible. Hard uncooked potatoes and cold green beans covered in a gravy that was swimming in melted butter. My partner had the burger and chips and said the bun was stale and the beef patty completely tasteless and not seasoned at all. And to be honest I thought it looked like something you'd of gotten off a burger van somewhere. The desserts were ok but nothing special at all and just tasted like any standard dessert you'd buy from a local supermarket. 2 mains and 2 dessert came in at £75 which I wouldn't mind paying anywhere for good quality and decent food but this was just an absolute joke considering it is supposed to be owned by a celebrity award winning chef. If I had of been sat in the restaurant I would of sent it straight back but seeing as my partner didn't want any fuss being her birthday and just wanted to get ready and for us to go and use the pool and spa I decided to bite my tongue and let it go. I never ever leave bad reviews but it was truly diabolical what they sent out from that kitchen and I think the crowne plaza should maybe review which restaurants they want to be associated with.
