Very tasty food, let down badly by everything else. Service was dreadful, drinks were forgotten and my friend had his beer taken away before he was finished. As another review said, they don't seem to know which sides come with which food. Heart radio means we spent a lot of the meal listening to the same ads on repeat. The decor was... bizarre. But they do delivery, so go get some brisket delivered to your door you can sidestep these problems.

Ribs & chicken totally over done and dry. Website stated meal came with coleslaw and mac n cheese but didn’t in reality. Mac & cheese obviously from a packet. Waited almost an hour for a very unpleasant meal. Could have done much better myself at home. For this place to describe itself as a BBQ restaurant is a joke as there wasn’t the slightest hint of smoke in the meat since it was clearly done in a turbo oven and not as described on the menu, “from the smoker”. AVOID IF YOU LIKE BBQ !!!

Very good. Nice size portions but it took a while to be served even though there was only two tables occupied and one of them wss us. Well worth the wait though. Will r er turn.

Really nice family meal. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would suggest going with a a completely empty stomach as the portions beat all three of us. Portions are not huge but adequate. Staff are very friendly.

I must admit ive eaten in a lot better places in Plymouth! What i had wasn't too bad and the fries were done nicely but service was bad, had to go to the bar to order & waitresses weren't overly friendly.. although given a 3 star rating won't be back. Steak & Omelette still tops it for me.

Además, el asiento del inodoro está roto y está literalmente unido a nada. ¡Y su sitio web dice que son los mejores en el suroeste para la barbacoa ahumada! ¡Claramente no han probado la comida ni ningún otro establecimiento de barbacoa! ¡Que broma! ! !

Un viaje muy decepcionante a Holy Smoke para almorzar hoy. Lo primero que me llamó la atención cuando me senté a leer el menú fue la música. ¡Música que te molestaría en un viaje en ascensor al piso de la calle 1! No importa tener que soportar mientras come una comida. El menú describe que las hamburguesas tienen una 'riqueza incomparable', solo puedo suponer que la persona de quien se cita esto solo ha comido hamburguesas de Holy Smoke. No son ricos y son comparables a cualquier tienda de kebab o hamburguesa van burger. Sin embargo, son incomparables con las buenas hamburguesas 'artesanales' que podría obtener de lugares como Hubbox por el mismo precio. Pedí el Mad Bull (irónico) que se suponía que debía incluir carne de res BBQ, que compararía más con rebanadas de carne asada masticable y cocida, ¡muy poco atractiva, y sin ninguna sugerencia, había estado cerca de un fumador o una barbacoa! No todo es malo, el bollo de pretzel estaba realmente bien, con mucho, lo mejor de la comida. Pedí el 'repollo de la casa' y macarrones con queso que eran horribles! Servido en cuencos de cristal de cocina. El repollo fue directamente de una olla de supermercado, y supongo que es el más barato disponible. Me quejé de esto al final y me dijeron que era casero, ¡100% no lo era! El macarrones con queso no tenía sabor y era anémico. Es muy frustrante cómo los lugares pueden hacer que una comida tan simple sea tan incorrecta, pero Holy Smoke una vez más lo ha logrado. No hace falta decir que buscaré en otro lugar en el futuro.

Hoy apareció para un almuerzo tardío, la comida era súper sabrosa, el personal era amable y el restaurante tenía un gran ambiente. Para colmo, la factura era mucho más barata de lo que esperábamos en comparación con lugares similares. Definitivamente volveremos! ?

Not American food at all. Having loved in America for a number of years, We were very excited to find this eatery. Sadly what I ordered was not a correct version at all. It was totally incorrect and the flavour was awful. They do not even serve American beer even though its on the menu. Instead the larger is Romanian?? The waitress was very pleasant and the restaurant was clean, but if you claim to be a certain country’s cuisine then you need to get it spot on. Will not be returning, sorry.

Food edible. Mixed feedback from party. On the whole, burgers very good and steak very good. If you like burgers than it’s worth a visit.

Ate here in a party of 8. All had a starter drink and main for about £20 each. Starters were fairly basic but tasty. Burgers were good and there is a good variety to choose from. Service was also good. Not Michelin star food, but if you like a burger it's well worth a try.

Surprisingly busy jolly and friendly. Lots of cafes and snacks restaurants have opened at this end of Cornwall Street but many flounder including predecessors in this unit. Pleasantly surprised to find this place attracting a mixed and upbeat bunch of customers. The food swings between quite well grilled stuff to more functional but the overall output and feel is good.

Visited for a quick bite for lunch and it was very light due to very small portions. Pre-made frozen products which were deep fried. When you mix that with the small portions, they let themselves down. On a plus the staff were friendly and service was good. Would I recommend to others, probably not as there are plenty more places around.

Very nice place, very nice service and the best food

Rarely post reviews, but I've got a feeling theres some skullduggery going on with so many 5 star reviews. Dry chicken, boring thin sliced beef, pulled pork just acceptable, ribs cooked well, and a nice quality cut but no flavour at all. Friendly waitress hence a generous 2 stars. Was expecting much better.

If you haven't already been, then you must try this brilliant little restaurant. Not only is the food amazing but the staff are too. We had a brilliant night there last night to celebrate my daughters birthday. Will be booking there again very soon.

Wasnt greatly impressed. Probably won't ever go back. Service was good but the food quality especially the actual cuts of meat were awful. Mostly fat and gristle. Not what you'd expect from a place with a small limited menu focusing on bbq meat.... Disappointed.

Have been to this restaurant before and the food was good, but sadly not quite as good on this visit. I ordered the rack of ribs and it was very dry, I had to ask for a side of bbq sauce to ‘help it along’! One of our group ordered the bbq chicken, but didn’t get any bbq sauce on/with it. On the plus side our third member had a burger and was delighted. The waiter was also very friendly and helpful. Would go again, but think I’ll steer clear of the grill food and have a hot dog like I did the first time.

I've been in a few times. While I can't speak for the quality of the barbecued stuff (speaking as a cook, it sounds like they're leaving it on the grill too long but haven't tried it to find out), their burgers are outstanding. I've been working my way through them and haven't found one that I don't like yet... and for £10-12, it's not a terrible price

Went here for lunch as a couple.ordered the BBQ Pit Plate Duo which we picked pulled pork and half rack off of ribs .decided to share this instead of ordering a meal each and am glad we did.was expecting the ribs to be fall off the bone meat and great tasting but to say they were dry is an understatement.Almost as if they were left over from last night and reheated not freshly cooked as it says on the menu.The pulled pork was ok but nothing to shout about.hopefully this was just an of day as Plymouth needs places like this instead of the usual pub food establishments but we will not be rushing back in a hurry I'm afraid

Absolutely terrible buttermilk chicken burger, it's just a fried dried out breaded piece of chicken, poor burger sauce as a dip as well, the place has potential but needs to up it's standards

Amazing food, catering is a 10/10, waiters/waitresses are so kind and helpful. It has a Romanian menu which is quite interesting. My mate tried a plate of barbecued meat and he loved it. Definitely recommend

Food was lovely apart from a missing egg but overall was still very good and will be going back good food for a good amount of money went there not long after they opened very good service and they did change my chips to there spicy version at no added cost we was greeted at the door and shown to are table me and my wife wish you all the best in the future well done and good luck

Took ages for waitress to take my order, was too busy taking in a foreign language to chef. Ordered dirty fries and nachos. Fries did not fit description on menu. Brisket was more like beef jerky. The guacamole was not fresh was from queeze bottle and tasteless. When we finished again took ages to pay as waitress was busy chatting with friends in foreign language. I did not get an American vibe from this place, I would know as I'm American. Will not be going again.

Amazing food and prices. We chose this place at random as I fancied a burger, my wife wanted some ribs. She had 1/2 rack of ribs with chicken, I had a lunchtime deal, Chicken Liver pate, then a bacon cheeseburger. The Pate was lovely, a very generous portion with 4 pieces of toasted fresh bread. It's been a while since I've had pate and I really enjoyed it, there's a small pot of onion relish and I wouldn't normally eat that but tried it, a great combination. If I had this with a salad it would have been more than enough for a main meal. The burger was enormous, a really nice tasting burger, not over seasoned, not overcooked, for me it was just right, after the mountain of pate I didn't think I would eat much but I was wrong, a good burger is always nice and I ate the lot. The Ribs were falling off the bone, a really thick and juicy rack, the chicken was definitely the winner of the fight, really juicy, lots of meat (I ate 1/2 of it to help my wife out), it came with fries, sweetcorn and coleslaw. All in all i would say it was exactly what we hoped for, a really good burger, a great rib and chicken taste and we certainly didn't leave hungry. If anything I would suggest wet wipes or something similar as I just tucked in with my fingers, food like this doesn't need a knife and fork. Would we go back? we're seriously considering driving all the way through the hellish Plymouth roadworks to have lunch there again this week.

Excellent service and helpful staff, a great menu and wonderful food. My wife had the Hot Dog and i had the Devil burger, which was hot and spicy. The French Fries were fresh, hot and lovely. The prices are very good. Well done, we had a great meal.

Great place, good food, good staff, good price.

Lovely restaurant setting. Hot dogs, mac n cheese were brilliant, the beef brisket sandwich was dry but just add coleslaw, maybe it could be improved with a sauce or buttered bread. Prices were good and drink prices were brilliant. Over all fantastic value for money and tasty to boot.

This place is incredibly amazing with the food an the design of the place inside is just so welcoming, the staff are very helpful an approachable, great service makes the food great aswell, feels like home when i order here, everyone should have a bit of holy smoke in their life, i order the wood grilled nachos with hot wings every time, its just the best for lunch

Everything i had was terrible, the only good thing was the coleslaw and that seemed shop bought and was warm when it got here. The wings were slimey and tasted weird, the crispy squid was chewy and tasted strange, the fries were not hot and also tasted weird, the brisket sandwich was bland and didn't have any pickled veg or sauce as was described, the mac and cheese tasted hideous and definitely not made from scratch. all in all the food was very bad and everything that was fried had a strange tinge to it

I’ve lived in Plymouth for a good five months now and one of the things I’ve truly enjoyed is how many amazing, authentic places there are to eat out in this city. So when I heard there would be a bbq restaurant opening I was well excited, especially since as an American this is one of the cuisines from home that I was missing. My partner and I went in, read over the menu and selected what we believed to be a winning combo: a bbq meat platter that came with sides of fries, coleslaw, corn, and Mac and cheese. All of the staple sides you’d look for in a traditional bbq restaurant. The anticipation took a strong dip as we saw the chef walk down the stairs with a bag frozen fries in his hand, not a great sign, but if the star of the meal (the bbq meat) was great then this could be overlooked. Well people of Plymouth let me tell ya. There could not be a worse imitation of bbq food. Pulled pork? Goopy covered with a thin sweet paste that one can only assume was meant to be bbq sauce. Chicken? Overcooked, covered with slimy chicken skin. Ribs? Just grisly fat on bones. There was a sausage which wasn’t on the menu that was included and this obviously prepackaged meat was the most bang average and best part of the meal. Super disappointed.

Wonderful simple food, very well cooked. Nice and friendly, but professional atmosphere. And when you see that they use brands like Sarson's, Heinz and Coleman's you know they do not compromise on the quality. Well done! I will definitely come back again.
